I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

I’ve hardly been able to eat anything without nausea today. Really only little snacky bits. I think this was what the first few days of 0.25mg were like.

I just stick the needle in the front of my thigh--I do cycle between each thigh but have zero reason to do that.

I'm on week 4 of .25 and not sure what to do. My weightloss has slowed and the appetite suppression isn't as good as previously. However the Australian TGA put out a press release that Ozempic won't be available until late March. If I stick with .25 I can get through to March but if I go up, I will be out of it some time in February.

Madferitchick · 06/11/2022 08:56

@HermioneWeasley I'd like your code too please but not sure how to DM you!? Can't find the option on the app on my phone?!

HermioneWeasley · 06/11/2022 09:40

Hi@Madferitchick ive PM’d you so you should get a notification

OP posts:
HermioneWeasley · 06/11/2022 09:41

@LovelaceBiggWither i think I’d be tempted to step up and keep getting the benefits and accept that when you run out in Feb you’ll plateau

LovelaceBiggWither · 06/11/2022 11:47

I'm worried about regaining when I can't get it. I looked at my numbers and actually they are not as bad as I thought. My BGL is amazing. I actually need to be eating more--my GP told me off for undereating on Friday. I think I will stick with the .25 dose and only go up when it clearly has stopped working at all. Over this supply chain mess!

COL1N · 06/11/2022 13:47

Hi all, got my first pen last week from Health Express. I can't believe the instant change, just not feeling hungry or thinking about food all the time is an absolute revelation! Reading this thread & hearing about the supply chain issues I checked back on Health Express & they are out if stock now! Is anyone managing to buy from anywhere else? I would be gutted if I cant continue, Im only 2-3 days in but already feel this could be life changing for me!

COL1N · 06/11/2022 13:49

Just reading the thread more, @HermioneWeasley could I have your code too please? Is Juniper my best bet do you reckon? Feels more like a weight loss plan than just buying the pen?

HermioneWeasley · 06/11/2022 14:22

@COL1N they badge it as that and there is plenty of support around changing habits, exercising more etc if you want it. I chose them because I liked the idea of some supervision when I got started in case of terrible side effects etc. they have been helpful and responsive when I’ve had questions. If you are confident to go it alone you can buy the pens cheaper. I’ll DM you the code

OP posts:
COL1N · 06/11/2022 14:36

Thanks @HermioneWeasley, yes I agree that some supervision would be reassuring. I was really nervous to take the first dose last week!

Guinefort · 07/11/2022 07:29

Thanks very much for the advice @HermioneWeasley Smile.

I've just administered my first dose. I was quite nervous and rushed it a bit and forgot to count to 6 before removing the needle. There didn't appear to be any spillage though so hopefully ok. It was actually so much easier than I had built it up in my head to be - will be a doddle next time ! And didn't feel a thing!

Slightly concerned to hear about the stock issues and yes, Health Express where I got my pen is out of stock now. Trust me to finally pluck up courage to try something and it immediately becomes unavailable 😂. Anyway I'll proceed with this month and see how I get on...

Madferitchick · 07/11/2022 07:32

@Guinefort I've literally just administered my first dose too! Good luck for the first week 😊

Guinefort · 07/11/2022 08:19

Good luck to you too @Madferitchick, finger crossed for a good first day for us both!

HermioneWeasley · 07/11/2022 11:52

First dosers - let us know how you’re getting on

OP posts:
Madferitchick · 08/11/2022 18:52

After doing first injection yesterday I felt a little odd and was burping quite a bit but nothing unpleasant. Today I feel completely normal and no effect on appetite 🙄
It took a while for saxenda to have any effect and that was short lived...I'm hoping this won't be the same 🤞🏻

HermioneWeasley · 08/11/2022 19:28

Keep us posted @Madferitchick . I hope you feel the effect on your appetite soon

HermioneWeasley · 08/11/2022 21:47

I asked My Juniper about the 1mg pens. Here’s what they said:

“Novo Nordisk, the company that manufactures Ozempic, has advised that there will be intermittent availability of Ozempic until the end of December 2022 which will impact a limited number of markets (it is unclear exactly how this will play out in the UK). It’s not that there isn’t supply, rather there has been a very significant increase in demand for the medication.

At this stage, we do not believe our existing patients will be impacted by the supply shortages

Our team is working hard in the background to ensure we have sufficient supply for our existing patients to continue their treatment. If it ever gets to the point where we look to be unlikely to fulfil future orders for our existing patients (worst case scenario) we will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible to our patients and our clinical team will work with you on alternate treatment plans.”

OP posts:
LovelaceBiggWither · 09/11/2022 04:06

Ha! Novo is looking after you Brits better than us Aussies. We were just told out of stock until March and then out of stock until the end of March and not to expect any surprise shipments.

0.25 is a very low dose and it is not common to have appetite suppression or weight loss at that level. Some of us do but if you don't it doesn't mean it's not working it just needs to reach a higher level for it to be effective. Wegovy isn't expected to do much until you reach 2 and it's the exact same drug.

Torvi · 09/11/2022 07:39

Week 1 on 0.25 done and I'm down around 3lbs. Appetite suppression definitely wore off on the last couple of days for me.

leilani83 · 09/11/2022 08:23

Just read about this in the Guardian today and have placed an order - it seems to be available. How do you specify the dose, it didn't give me an option?

How is everyone getting on?

TeeBee · 09/11/2022 10:32

Ooh, could I please ask for your referral code too HermioneWeasley? I've DM'ed you.

Cantonet · 09/11/2022 11:07

Health express Ozempic are back in stock again.
They were totally unhelpful when I messaged them the other day and said they didn't know when they would get more Ozempic in. So I ordered via Quick meds and they were most thorough.
Then health express got more Ozempic in later on that day! But in the meantime I asked for advice on a substitute & they said I would have to start on the lowest dose of the tablets.Even though I'm on the 1 mg Ozempic injection. Apparently the highest of these is equiv. to 0.5 mg Ozempic. So I've come to the conclusion they're giving out the wrong advice - not impressed.

TimetohittheroadJack · 09/11/2022 11:16

Just to warn anyone on Ozempic, if you decide to drink too much you will have the worlds worst hangover.

HermioneWeasley · 09/11/2022 11:27

Second dose of 0.5 tonight. Appetite reduction has worn off but not entirely. Haven’t really seen much weight loss in the last week but have definitely been eating less so I guess it will come through.

the rapidness and ease of the weight loss is really motivating - when you can see it regularly reducing instead of constantly starving to maybe lose 1lb and then gain 2 if you go out for dinner helps maintain making better choices.

Happierwithouthim · 09/11/2022 12:09

Hi everyone I just got GP to prescribe Ozempic this morning.

My BMI at last calculation of 37.1 scared me.

This is my investment in myself, I'll be 40 at end of Feb, and I'd like to see a drop for then.
