Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

Sounds like it's going great all round. It's really kicked in for me yesterday and today. I'd say it took 24 hours. It's quite hard to get motivated to cook which is highly unusual for me...

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 10/01/2023 06:35

A 2.5kg loss for me this week. So much better. I have managed to stay away from sugar this week which has made such a difference. No more vomiting - just mild nausea some mornings.

Goawayangryman · 10/01/2023 08:09

I've lost a kilo since Saturday. Woop 👍. I do have a lot to lose, though, and have also totally given up the booze. Nevertheless, am heartened as it hasn't been at all difficult and I have only ever felt properly hungry for my evening meal.

Goawayangryman · 10/01/2023 08:09

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun 2.5 kg a week is amazing, as is the easing of nausea.

Happierwithouthim · 10/01/2023 08:22

Goaway and that's the meal that I've no appetite for at all!

Someone mentioned their sense of taste, I wonder about this, is it my sense of taste or my appetite that is missing sometimes!

I sts this week, think it's week 4/5 on 0.5mg, I'll see how side effects are today before I look at moving up to 0.75mg because last Tues wasn't great, day following injection. I've gone in a notch on my belt and feel my waist coming back and my belly no longer overhangs my underwear so I'm very pleased with results so far. There was less walking during Christmas too, and more treats than there would have been in Nov/early Dec. I didn't gain.

Oigetoffmylawn · 10/01/2023 08:23

Had some very mild nausea this morning but it's not stopped me eating breakfast. Didn't want my morning latte though.

OneAndDon3 · 10/01/2023 08:23

@Goawayangryman and @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun those are brilliant losses! Well done.

My scales have given up the ghost, so I've no idea what the first week has done for me. I'm honestly considering not replacing them and carrying on without.

HermioneWeasley · 10/01/2023 08:48

Thanks for the updates - amazing results!

That's great if you can do that and just go by how you feel and how your clothes feel.

I've been on this weight loss train for over 20 years and I don't know if I could do that.

fantastic!! Sounds like it will be great for you !!

Thank you, I hope so! I’m on my third day now and still have very little appetite. I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning and would normally order a sweet latte and cake, but am sitting here waiting for her clutching a bottle of water 😁

Apologies for tmi but I also went to the toilet normally this morning which is really unusual for me when dieting. I was really worried about that, so it’s a relief that so far at least I’m not having any issues. Nausea has also been very infrequent and super mild.

Out of curiosity, is there anyone here who chose to stay at a low/lower dose because it continued to work for them? I know it’s very early days for me yet, but I’m thinking that if 0.25 or 0.50 (when I move up to that) continue to be effective I could just stick with the lower dose rather than move up, to avoid side effects?

OneAndDon3 · 10/01/2023 10:48

@Happierwithouthim I know what you mean. I think I've decided that I need to commit at least six months to this if not a year, so the difference between weighing now and in the summer is pretty minimal and I hope to avoid being disappointed when my weight inevitably plateaus.

I'll probably crack and buy a new set next week.

Sorry that is 2.5 lb. It was 1.1kg - still pleased but not as spectacular as I lead you to believe. I weigh in kg now but understand lbs better so translate when it is good news 🤣. Kg for what I actually weigh and any gains!

Oigetoffmylawn · 10/01/2023 13:07

Ok so something is definitely happening! I ate my breakfast pretty much as normal, though slightly slower and didn't feel like I could have seconds. I've just left half my lunch. I was eating it, thinking "I might be full" so paused and just didn't want to go back to it and now I'm definitely full! I still want to eat a cream cake but it's more a desire than an uncontrollable urge - a hum in the background rather than an all-consuming thought. It's nice. It's like how I used to be.

oh it's very disheartening but when i spoke to the juniper people they said most people don't start seeing a difference until they start on 1mg.
I feel like you I have lost 9lbs altogether but was really all
in weeks two and three. I think my expectations were sky high! but if I can even get one more pound off i'll be in the twelve stone zone which would be the first time in a long time
So stick with it hopefully some good effects will kick in soon!!
Thanks to the OP fir this thread it's so nice to see people's positive stories

HermioneWeasley · 10/01/2023 17:10

@IchLiebePudding just trust the process - if you’re in calorie deficit then you will lose weight

@Abeachsomewhere i think there’s a poster on this thread (I’m sorry, can’t remember who), who has decided to stay on a lower dose because she’s getting good results.

@Abeachsomewhere in response to your second para, me! I started Ozempic in Feb 22 and after my first month, I moved onto 0.5 in Mar 22 and stayed on that until beginning of December when I noticed I’d stopped losing and was feeling hungrier and thinking more about food than before. Up to that point, I had hit my target weight last summer (3st loss) and had been been steadily losing 1-2lbs a week on 0.5. I put on 5lbs over Xmas 🙁

I have only just started on 0.75mg as of this Sunday, noticed the effect kick in straight away along with a tiny bit of nausea but I was expecting that. I am now back to that being full feeling- this evening I had to force myself to have a bit of dinner as I only managed some crackers and an apple for lunch. My plan is to loose half a stone and then see if I can drop back to 0.5mg again. If not will see how long I can stay on 0.75 for before my body gets used to it. Will let you know how I get on. Also plucked up the courage and told my doctor recently; she said she informally approves and that I’ve massively lowered my chance of developing diabetes and hypertension which was almost certainly where I was heading given my strong family history. I’m quite prepared to stay on it for life to maintain my weight if I need to!

OzzyOzworn · 10/01/2023 21:03

First dose taken in thigh forgot to wait for 6 seconds after holding down though maybe only 2 seconds so may not have got full dose but hey 🙈thigh hurts now but going to get some good results 🙏🏻

Happierwithouthim · 11/01/2023 06:09

I've my first bruise from injection forgot to pinch skin and then inject!

4 weeks and have lost between 6-8 lbs since starting but have been the same fir last two weeks. am starting the increased dose today but in all honesty i think i need to make other changes.
I am not sure how to go about that though i have done slimming world before but cannot face it again and all m those things like mug shots are so easy fir someone like me to revert to .
What eating plans are people finding helpful?

Same here. I lost 9lb in total but the weight is now staying the same. I'm waiting to go up to 0.5 so hopefully that will budge things. Maybe I'll try missing breakfast and only eating two meals.

Happierwithouthim · 11/01/2023 08:28

1.25lbs down on yesterdays weight so a total of 11lbs in 2 months Smile

MaireadMcSweeney · 11/01/2023 08:50

I've definitely noticed the change in appetite but it comes and goes. I'm not into sweet things at all which is the major change for me as I'm a sugar addict. Yesterday I got stuck in traffic for 1.5 hours due to an accident on the way home and there were lemon sweets in the car and I didn't touch them. They crossed my mind a few times but I didn't fancy it. Then I ate 2/3 of my dinner and had nothing else! That's unusual for me. I'm happy with that change for now. Scales have started to move down slowly but the CONSTIPATION is driving me mad. I've not been properly and naturally for ten days now. Took 2 laxatives last night as I'm WFH today and thought it was safe but other than a bloated belly they aren't doing anything to get things moving. This had better sort itself out as I can't stand it!

OzzyOzworn · 11/01/2023 09:21

That’s amazing how much did you have to lose? I’m paranoid it won’t work for me as my eating was already pretty good but (presumably) due to PCOS I keep gaining regardless and now 2 stone needed off!

StuckInTheUpsideDown · 11/01/2023 09:44

Just over 4 months since starting and almost at the 50 pound mark. Lots more to go but I’m delighted I’ve been able to do this so far.

OzzyOzworn · 11/01/2023 11:28

That’s great. Well day one (16hrs after first injection) no side effects or changes so far. Hungry and craving chocolate despite 2 scrambled eggs for brekkie
