I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

@OneAndDon3 same for me with Citalopram. I’m hoping this is an answer. Am also going to try and reduce the Citalopram to 10mg from 30mg.

It's a catch 22 isn't it? The citalopram makes my life easier and more enjoyable. The extra weight makes my life harder and less enjoyable.

I've been thinking about cutting down from 30mg a well.

Kfjsjdbd · 09/01/2023 10:45

Yes that’s exactly it. Debating coming off it entirely but I’m such a nicer person taking the meds.

Oigetoffmylawn · 09/01/2023 11:05

Having heard lots of people on here talking about citalopram and weight gain I am very glad I refused it off the GP and asked for fluoxetine, which I had taken years before with no weight gain. I know citalopram is a more modern AD but I'm ok on the old school stuff!

I know it’s not a magic bullet but I’m a week in and haven’t lost anything. I’ve definitely had decreased appetite and nausea so I’m shocked I haven’t lost anything. I’m constipated so I wonder if that is affecting scale weight . Have others found this?

Same here
I haven't 'unblocked' properly all week so that's a factor but my appetite has come and gone so I wasn't expecting miracles in the first week TBH
drink plenty of water and be patient :)

4 weeks and have lost between 6-8 lbs since starting but have been the same fir last two weeks. am starting the increased dose today but in all honesty i think i need to make other changes.
I am not sure how to go about that though i have done slimming world before but cannot face it again and all m those things like mug shots are so easy fir someone like me to revert to .
What eating plans are people finding helpful?

constipation tips - psyllium husk supplements twice a day with lots of water and some orange juice!

Yep, best thing for constipation is loads of water and fibre although it can make you a bit... uh... gassy :)

I have a little bit of constipation and I am sure that serious constipation affects your weight. In general, I always weigh myself after my ablutions, as I like the number better ;)

How much have you lost now OP? In total?

How quickly did people find it took effect? I'm not expecting it immediately but just wondering. 4 hours and not feeling anything yet!

HermioneWeasley · 09/01/2023 13:44

@Oigetoffmylawn i think I’ve been on it for 14 weeks and I’ve lost 16lbs and I haven’t tried . I’ve eaten everything I want to. And I’ve not exercised as much as usual because I’ve been sick with one thing after another the last 6 weeks

Oigetoffmylawn · 09/01/2023 14:33

That's really good OP especially as it's been Christmas and you've not been trying to loose weight.

IAmBreathingIn · 09/01/2023 14:57

Thank you to everyone for your posts, I have been following your progress before deciding to try Ozempic myself. Many congratulations on your weight losses to date!

I am aiming to feel healthier and fitter, and get back into my old clothes. I think it will take 3-3.5st to achieve that. I'm now in my early forties and really struggling with my weight. I fear if I don't achieve this now I won't ever get back in shape!

This morning I placed an order for the 0.25mg pens with Quick Meds. They haven't come back with any questions yet, so I'm hoping I will receive my order in the next few days.

I would like to continue posting here and chatting with you all about your experiences, it has been immensely helpful to read about them so far.

Oigetoffmylawn · 09/01/2023 15:12

Good luck IAmBreathingIn

I'm 40 later this year and hope to end this decade of my life a healthy weight, which is how I started it!

Happierwithouthim · 09/01/2023 15:27

I'm similar to that, 10 years ago I was only a stone overweight, I started ozempic at 5st overweight, I'm 40 this year, hoping to get back to myself

IAmBreathingIn · 09/01/2023 15:54

@Oigetoffmylawn

Thank you, and good luck! I would be delighted to get back into the shape I was in a decade ago too!

I've heard back from Quick Meds. Need to speak to the pharmacist over the phone. Fingers crossed it goes ok 🤞🏻

I've just looked back and 10 years ago I was 10st 11. I felt huge, but had a BMI of about 23! When I got married 8 years ago I was 11st 2lbs but then 2 months later on my honeymoon I was 12st 3. I was 14 stone when my son was 6 months old (5.5 years ago) and I did manage to get back down to 11st 2 in August 2017 but other than my pregnancy in 2018 it has been an upward trend since then and I'm now a BMI of 33!

Kfjsjdbd · 09/01/2023 16:13

I’ve just placed an order with Numan, and hoping it gets approved quickly. After a very indulgent weekend I’m ready to get going

Oigetoffmylawn · 09/01/2023 17:28

Trying to work out if this bloaty/ full/ mild nausea feeling is the drug working or if it's psychosomatic!

Alstoybarn · 09/01/2023 18:00

Heyyyy has anyone lost their taste? I can barely taste anything atall not sure if it's a gift or a curse lol

BellyDancer124 · 09/01/2023 18:45

Such a helpful thread thank you OP! I've ordered from Juniper today and been approved, hopefully delivery comes soon and I can get started 😀

OzzyOzworn · 09/01/2023 19:37

Mine was approved within 24hrs from numan and was shipped out today. Starting tomo. Seriously hope this works🙏🏻

Day 2 update - this is amazing!!!! I feel like my brain has been rewired already and it has only been two days! I’m trying to follow a health kick anyway, with the Ozempic to help suppress my appetite. I had a wobble yesterday (day 1) in the late afternoon but instead of reaching for an unhealthy snack I ate a small banana and felt really full (!), to the point that I had to remind myself to have dinner.

Today I’ve had no wobbles at all and no hunger/cravings outside normal mealtimes. Normally I’d be really struggling to stay on track even on the second day of a diet, which is why I normally end up giving up over a week or two.

Really hoping this is it now and I can get the extra weight off 👍

Well I've not had any urge to snack this evening. That's a huge win for me! I don't care why - whether the medication or psychological I don't know!
