I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

@CloseYourEyesAndSee i had constipation on the higher doses which has resolved itself now and I’m back to normal. I take psyllium husk in the mornings anyway, but when I was suffering I took it evenings with some organs juice as well and that seemed to do the trick

Orange juice not organs!

Organs juice 😆 sounds extreme but it would probably work!!
I'll try something tonight and maybe take a sennokot too

Happierwithouthim · 04/01/2023 16:50

Close I find it can go either way, at least once a week I've got not diarrhoea but very urgent need to go, but then other days I know that I am getting compacted.

Alstoybarn · 04/01/2023 18:57

Heyy I'm just over 24 hours in and just had dinner and wow I feel sick and also had to dash to the loo! Is this normal so fast?

This happened to me a few hours after though I haven't had any nausea since then and haven't been to the toilet since 😆

Hi all, hope it’s ok for me to join this thread! I started ozempic six days ago and did my first weigh in today - I’m 2.4kg/5.3lbs down, and I have lost 2cm off my waist. I couldn’t be happier, especially as this is just the titration dose!

good luck to everyone starting and I will keep the thread updated with my progress too. So far I can’t believe how helpful it has been - it is like my body is working the way it’s meant to. I no longer get food cravings, I feel satisfied after small portions, and I can easily say no to food I couldn’t before. Better yet, no super strict and unsustainable diets have been needed to lose, just healthier choices and smaller portions.

😁

That is wonderful! Well done.

Cappucinopup you put it so well, our bodies working the way they're supposed to!

The more the merrier here

Erith1985 · 05/01/2023 10:37

Hi everyone - new here and just waiting for my order from myjuniper to arrive (with big thanks to HermioneGranger for sharing her discount code)! I'm a bit nervous to start so grateful for anyone's tips on how they got used to jabbing themselves and getting through the first week or so - I've got fingers crossed for no side effects, but I might be being too optimistic!

Currently weighing in at 103.8kgs at 5'9'' so I've got quite a lot to lose - 13kg to move out of the "obese" category and another 15kg to re-enter "healthy" so those are my two goals for 2023!

HermioneWeasley · 05/01/2023 12:16

Thanks for your update @Cappuccinopup - it’s such a relief isn’t it? Not to be consumed by thoughts of food. I feel like I should notice a real increase in my productivity now!

welcome @Erith1985 . I prefer to do my injection on an evening. Make sure you eat lightly around the time you take it or you’ll feel like a snake that’s swallowed a boulder as the food just sits there! I discovered recently that if you pinch the injection site and put the needle in you hardly feel it. Thigh is better than stomach. And remember to wait 6 seconds after the dispensing stops to make sure you get it all.

did you find the effect of fullness was wearing off before you increased the dose?
I took the 4th 0.25mga on Tuesday and am feeling no effects of fullness etc like I did to begin with

HermioneWeasley · 05/01/2023 12:24

Yes @orangelotus - definitely wasn’t having the same impact by the 4th 0.25 or the 4th 0.5. I’ve done 6 doses of 1mg now and it’s settled - side effects and impact on hunger.

that's reassuring. Have you lost any more weight if you don't mind saying.
i'm remaining at a loss of between 6-8 lbs which i am still happy with but looking furward to upping the dose now

HermioneWeasley · 05/01/2023 12:29

wow!!!! that is so good ! well done so encouraging.

Katrinawaves · 05/01/2023 12:56

I spoke to the Numan doctor today and she’s advised me to drop back down to 0.25 for a few more weeks to give my body time to get used to it before titrating up to 0.5. I’m a bit relieved to be honest. I wasn’t looking forward to taking my next dose tomorrow as I’ve had a rough couple of weeks!

HermioneWeasley · 05/01/2023 14:24

Good news @Katrinawaves - that sounds sensible

Katrina assuming you cope with 0.25 and want to then move up again it doesn’t have to be a straight jump back to 0.5. I’m sure you’ve seen the pen does “clicks”. You could discuss with the medical team going to a dose in between even if for a week or two. Click charts are available if you google to get an idea.

This is what I did moving from 0.25 to 0.5 and then from 0.5 to 1 to keep the jumps smaller and allow my body to adjust. I can see why they don’t have it as standard though as makes the messaging more complex for users.

you must be highly sensitive to the drug. it's good you've some medical advice about managing the side effects xxx

RumNotRun · 05/01/2023 15:50

I have just passed my medical consult with Numan and my Ozempic is being dispatched. I'm a bit nervous but trying to ignore the posts about bad effects and just concentrate on the good ones.

Has anyone gone on a night out since starting? I know that drinking alcohol is bad for weight loss but a good friend is having a night out for her 40th soon and I'm a bit worried that I'll go out and be drunk after one drink or something.

Happierwithouthim · 05/01/2023 16:23

@RumNotRun I have, one night with dinner I drank two glasses of wine and would've happily had a third.
Then I'd my Christmas party & the food filled me up & I didn't really enjoy my drinks at all but it didn't make me drunk after a drunk hope that helps

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 05/01/2023 17:13

I had more than usual for me to drink on New Years Eve and it was fine.
