Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

I am seriously thinking about this too.

Since I turned 50, I've found it so hard to lose weight. All the things I tried previously don't work now - 5:2 was how I lost weight & last time I tried I lost 1kg then the weight loss stopped.

I'm at my heaviest ever & need to try something different.

Had thought about the counterweight plus programme but don't think I can go without food for 12 weeks or manage low carb food reintroduction.

A few questions I gave:

Do you need a private prescription?

Is there any kind of monitoring? Eg blood tests?

How long can you be on it for? Permanently?

I forgot to mention I signed up to Manual - has anyone else used them? I didn't realise they seem to primarily support men. However, they have been great so far, I've got a check in call booked, the sent me so much info and were pretty diligent in ensuring I met the 'fat enough' criteria! They also offer 50% off for refer a friend but are slightly more expensive at 199 a month.

I signed up for Manual too. Do you have a tracking code yet? I don’t and when I go into the site it says “approved” but then says “prescription expired”, it’s weird. I did get a message saying I was approved.

Happy New Year everyone!

I've just taken my first jab! Wish me luck! Lol

Katrinawaves · 01/01/2023 11:06

Good luck @nellyelloe

Happy new year everyone. I started the New Year with a bang by being violently ill again yesterday evening whilst out with friends for NYE. Annoyingly I had not been drinking and had only eaten very sparingly. Hopefully that will be it for the rest of the week.

HermioneWeasley · 01/01/2023 11:19

happy new year everyone

What a miserable start @Katrinawaves . I went to the walk in clinic because I’ve got cystitis!

good luck @nellyelloe - let us know how you get on

@orangelotus I took my pen abroad, popped it in the liquids bag in hand luggage but put the needles in the hold. It's not recommended to put the pen in the hold in case it freezes.

Security are used to seeing these pens for diabetic use, so I had no issues on 6 different flights recently. I also didn't refrigerate it after I'd started using it.

Thankyou thats good to know .
Did they ask to see a letter of authority?
I'm so happy this morning it looks as though i have lost 8lbs in less than 3 weeks. I'm still only on the low dose as well.
i am finding that as it gets to the end of the week i am feeling hungrier but I seem able to make better choices.
Going to start exercising this week
Good luck to all the new starters !!

orangelotus · 01/01/2023 11:33

Hello lndnmummy!, good luck

nellyelloe · 01/01/2023 19:56

I've felt absolutely no different yet (day 1) although I have made a conscious effort to eat lots of veg today. I read that '4 pillars of health' book.
Is it normal to not feel any different on day 1?

Goawayangryman · 01/01/2023 22:35

Seriously considering this too. I've got so fat, BMI 33, although I've never been exactly slim, and I really worry about the health effects of being obese.

I do take mirtazapine as well which does something to yr insulin and makes you stack on weight so they might not let me have it. Not prepared to come off mirtazapine as it treats my sleep disorder.

It's either this or a fecal transplant 🤢

orangelotus · 01/01/2023 22:38

i still feel normal now three weeks later but definitely not snacking!! i'd always stuff something every time i went into the kitchen but the urge to do that seems to be less

BalloonArch · 01/01/2023 22:47

Day 3.
It's odd - I get hungry, I definitely still have an appetite, but can only finish about 2/3 of my plate. I'm eating a lot more slowly and actually chewing my food instead of just throwing it down my neck. I guess I'm doing more mindful eating and stopping when I've had enough, which is unheard of for me!

I had pringles earlier. 5 of them! Not most of a tube!

Whether that's down to Ozempic or down to me not wanting to throw up, I'm still not sure.
No side effects - a bit of burping and I'm slightly constipated today.

Long may it continue.

HermioneWeasley · 02/01/2023 09:09

@nellyelloe yes there’s plenty of people who don’t have any impact with 0.25 dose.

OP posts:
restingwitchfaces · 02/01/2023 12:18

My experiences are mirroring yours @BalloonArch also on third day. I’ve noticed I’m getting fuller a lot quicker than before, I think I’m eating about 50% of usual. Still very burpy but not feeling bad at all. Not constantly thinking about food has made me realise just how much headspace it took up for me

nellyelloe · 02/01/2023 15:24

I'm definitely slightly nauseous this afternoon. Not badly, but just a constant slight nausea. Day 2

S0upertrooper · 02/01/2023 15:47

@orangelotus I wasn't asked for anything and I don't have a letter. I did put the info sheet in my hand luggage just in case.

keeponandonandon · 02/01/2023 17:22

First dose on Saturday. I have had no side effects at all. I still feel hungry but have been trying not to eat too much, I want to lose a few lbs as I am going on holiday this Saturday all inclusive - that will be interesting! I hope I'm not one of those people who feel nothing on the low dose!

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 02/01/2023 17:42

I screwed up my first dose 😭 I didn't leave it in for 6 so I must have wasted some. I did feel a bit sick and upset stomach this afternoon though so I guess I did get some! I'm not feeling any urge to eat but I know that's psychological at this point 😆

I got mine through manual but they didn't set up a plan for me which is annoying, I'll have to call them to sort it out. I could get another 'first month' for £129 I guess but that would delay going up to 5mg.
