Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

I haven’t weighed myself for a week. I didn’t expect to lose anything (or maybe have gained a little) as I’ve been living on chocolate biscuits because it’s been chaos, and I have plateaued the last few weeks. What do you know - I’ve lost a couple of lbs so I’ve got my goal of losing a stone by Xmas!

For those experiencing burping, nausea or indigestion, I'm taking omoprazol before breakfast and find it helps. I'm not sure if it's safe to take it long term but the GP prescribed it.

Hi all,
I'm starting my first 0.25 tonight.
I've decided to quit sugar as this has helped me in the past. Also to focus on protein and fibre and water to help with potential fatigue. Not sure if it's a good idea to start this close to Christmas but I'm eager to start and the weight keeps going up! 🙈
🤞🤞

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 21/12/2022 09:48

Well done Cosytoes - seize the day. I must quite sugar too - it makes so much difference. Currently in a Christmas sugar black hole.

Hi, new user, joined after finding this thread as feel I have noone to chat to about this.
I was prescribed Ozempic almost a week ago. Still haven't tried to fill my prescription as I'm actually a bit scared of taking it. That might sound dumb but it's daunting. Side effects, what if I'm one of extremely small percentage who suffer serious side effects?
I'm almost 50 and very active. However over lockdown (no exercise and stress) I put on 12kg. I lost a few kilo (very very slowly) but seem to be stuck. Currently 31 BMI. The highest I've ever been, even 9 months pregnant! Family history of obesity. I have an incredibly sweet tooth, eat one meal and immediately think of the next, food consumes me I feel.

Any advice to take the plunge? I know there is a shortage but I'm even nervous to ring the chemist.

S0upertrooper · 21/12/2022 13:49

@YourOnMute if you can get it from the pharmacy, just put it in your fridge and use it when you're ready. Keep watching this thread and it'll help you start when you feel the time is right. I was just about to go on holiday when I was due for my first dose, so I waited till I got home. It was a good time for me to start. The new year might be a good time for you?

Happierwithouthim · 21/12/2022 15:38

Youreonmute great advice there from S0upertrooper
I debated waiting until next year when ozempic will most likely be on drug payment scheme here in Ireland and I figured I've spent the last 9 years struggling with my weight and I'd make a start. I'm delighted I have because I'm down 8lbs in 5 weeks

HermioneWeasley · 21/12/2022 17:00

@YourOnMute i was really apprehensive too but it’s been great. As you’ll see from this thread, some people have had strong side effects but they are manageable for most. I guess start it at a time when if you have a very adverse reaction, it doesn’t impact anything critical but I think it’s pretty rare. I couldn’t get the weight to budge - mostly because I was ravenous all the time and like you was always planning what to eat next. I feel like a switch has been flipped.

i have had the second dose of 0.25mgs yesterday and absolutely no effects good or bad as yet.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 22/12/2022 19:57

Started last night.
Was afraid of getting side affects so did everything I could to potentially avoid them!
Lots of water, light meal before, inject in the thigh. I'm not sure if they make any difference!
I don't have any side affects so that's good.
No cravings for sugar either which is great!

Happierwithouthim · 23/12/2022 06:05

Great stuff, hope it continues that way!

@Cozytoesandtoast00 I’m so glad your first injection has gone so well

I'm delighted I was busy yesterday though so had porridge at 9am and half portion of chips at 7 so that might have had a bearing.

SuperSange · 23/12/2022 18:26

I've just injected my third 0.25 dose, I only had a bit of nausea in week one. I've not weighed yet, but my appetite has noticeably decreased. Do you all stick with one pen provider, or do you live around to get offers?
