Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

I've 8lbs lost in 4 weeks but I feel so positive, the gut that hung over band of my underwear is reducing.

Stillwearingskinnies · 12/12/2022 19:25

@Happierwithouthim I did it from the new pen - I didn't realise there was anything left over in the original pen.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 13/12/2022 06:52

I am finally going to take my first 1mg dose today. I have lost around 4.5lb since starting in mid August. My weight has been up and down due to a combination of not trying hard enough with the diet and reducing the dose for a bit when there was a shortage and I felt very tired on 0.5mg.

Hopefully I will start to lose some proper weight on the higher dose and can get another pen in a few weeks time. Sometimes I do feel quite sick in the mornings and wonder if it is worth it but I do feel that had I not been on it for the last few months I would probably have gained more than I have lost over that time.

1st post here but i need to tell someone! Don't want to tell folks re ozempic as fear judgement BUT i've lost 23lbs in 12 weeks. That's after losing about 18lbs on my own so at the harder to shift side ifykwim. chuffed to bits and feel great. (awful side effects at beginning - not now)

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 13/12/2022 10:00

Wow - well done!

I haven’t told many people either. I know what you mean about being judged. Almost feel like it is cheating in some way! But actually it is no different from any other medication. I might tell people if I lost significant weight and kept it off for a while.

now that is amazing!!! well done!
have you also been following a diet?
i just agree that's it's a private thing and i really don't want to have the conversations and advice that i'd get!!
I really love hearing the good news stories and am hoping i'll have one of my own to share!!

Happierwithouthim · 13/12/2022 10:06

@yellowfloss that's super going! Well done on losing 18lbs by yourself too that was tough going I'm sure.

Can anyone link to the needles you purchase yourself? Chemist couldn't/wouldn't sell me any yesterday so I've used needle from next pen's box but I'll need some extra

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 13/12/2022 11:27

Needles

these have been fine and good value

Happierwithouthim · 13/12/2022 11:59

That's great value but I'm in ROI!

at least I know what I'm looking for now

Happierwithouthim · 13/12/2022 12:04

ALI EXPRESS €15.32 for 100 of them.

Wow well done that's fab!
Can I ask, when you say awful side effects at the beginning what were they and how long did they last?
I've had terrible insomnia so stopped the injections, but the return of my head and physical hunger is unreal!! So I want to give it another go and perhaps if I knew the side effects would subside I could bear them for a bit longer!?

yellowfloss · 13/12/2022 18:21

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun yeah, it does feel a bit like cheating. Feel the same, maybe further down the line I'd tell people, but I'm not interested in the disapproval/lack of understanding so saying nowt
ashamed222 yes, I could still overeat sweets and choc I feel so have to keep an eye on that. Try to stick to 16.8 WOE as that seems to work well for me.
Madferitchick side effects were pretty violent for about 4 weeks every couple of days after dose. Projectile vomiting, sulphur burps (YUK!), stomach pains. On 0.5 now and some days just no hunger at all, forced myself to eat 2 boiled eggs and most of an avocado for dinner there as have to eat something. Had small lentil soup and a ham roll at lunch (left some) and 2 chocs (they went down easily...), That will be me for the day. Taking a multi vitamin as worry re nutrition. (says she who would drink like a fish and eat shite all day 🤣) No side effects now other than a slight nauseas feeling on occasion for a minute.

Hope that answers folks questions 😊

ashamed222 · 13/12/2022 18:36

i took my first 0.25mgs this morning and so far zero feel
exactly the same as usual !!
i think i'd thought strangely that some side effects would mean something was happening.
i may live to regret that

ashamed222 · 13/12/2022 21:34

i have been as hungry as ever - am i expecting too much?
when i withdrew the needle there was some fluid on my leg dies that mean i didn't inject property?

HermioneWeasley · 13/12/2022 22:04

Hi @ashamed222 i think it’s hard to get the injection wrong - did you wait 6 seconds after it clicked?

it probably just means you’re tolerating it well and will move up to higher doses with no problems

OP posts:
ashamed222 · 13/12/2022 22:14

you are so so nice!!! i wish i actually knew you!
yes i waited fir 20 seconds
i took orlistat earlier this year and it had no impact at all so that is what's worrying me.
i ate a normal ( large )dinner and resisted a walnut whip that came my way!! So hoping it dies have some effect

Cantonet · 13/12/2022 23:08

@ashamed it may take a day or two to have an effect, or you may need to go up to a higher dose. It takes 4-5 weeks for your body to get to a steady state of Ozempic in your system with weekly dosing, so don't expect much of an effect with a starter dose. Appetite suppression may be gradual & not instantaneous.
It's worth saying as well that you have to take in less calories though & not just rely on the Ozempic giving you some appetite suppression.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 14/12/2022 07:11

I think the drug builds up in the system over time. One 0.25mg dose is not very much so don’t panic.

After my first 1 mg dose I fell asleep at 8.30 last night. Didn’t have proper supper but I was full from unhealthy snacking……. So annoyed with myself. Nausea not too bad this morning but I am still tired. I will keep going as I did start to tolerate the 0.5mg dose I think in terms of being tired.

I think I am going to end up like the host in another thread here, falling asleep into my dinner - especially on New Year’s Eve - match sticks till midnight!

Happierwithouthim · 14/12/2022 08:17

Day 2 after first 0.5mg dose and I'm nauseous. I've taken nexium for the heartburn this morning and I think I'll take motilium just for today as well.

seranade that tiredness is unreal hopefully it'll lift for you

Happierwithouthim · 15/12/2022 08:49

Belt on my jeans gone in two notches, jeans just slid on this morning. I'm delighted I made the decision to go on ozempic.

ashamed222 · 15/12/2022 10:20

sorry i meant to say great news well done!!

Happierwithouthim · 15/12/2022 10:40

thanks I'm not doing much differently to what I was already doing but ozempic is making the effort worthwhile

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 15/12/2022 19:32

I've just ordered a month worth from an online pharmacy for £129, due to arrive in January so I guess at least Christmas dinner won't be ruined by feeling sick 😆
I have had weight issues forever but more so since pregnancy 14 years ago. I just can't do it by myself.

Katrinawaves · 15/12/2022 19:45

I haven’t lost any weight this week again although my appetite has been less and I’ve definitely been eating less. I think I need to also look at what I’m eating as well as how much. I haven’t been too bad for side effects though I was a little sick this morning and my “digestive transit” is noticeably a bit slower! Injection 4 due tomorrow.
