Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

thankyou for that advice- i think i have to get a new mindset rather thinking this is going to be a miracle " cure"
i have a very big birthday this week so will enjoy that and start low carving from monday

Cantonet · 09/12/2022 12:06

@ashamed I've been using Myfitnesspal since August & starting on Saxenda.
It's helped me work out what I can/can't eat to lose weight. I've lost 20 pounds, but I've now come to a complete plateau on the 1 mg. There's also too many things going on in my family to worry too much about it. So I'm happy to maintain for the time being. I think I may need a higher dose to lose more & so I will wait for the Wegovy launch after Xmas.

Oblomov22 · 09/12/2022 12:18

Yes, I'm sure I took 0.25
My diabetic nurse wants me on saxenda. I might try that. Not this!

Madferitchick · 09/12/2022 12:18

HermioneWeasley · 09/12/2022 11:04

@Madferitchick apologies if you’re the wrong demographic for this, but could the early morning waking be menopause related?

It has crossed my mind - I'm 42 so not impossible but it literally started the week I went up to 0.5 and has continued since - feel like I could sleep for a week...only I don't! I get to sleep immediately whatever time I go to bed (purposely been trying to stay up to a reasonable time) and then at 0230 bing I'm awake 😫😫

Happierwithouthim · 10/12/2022 07:28

TMI but toilet was being used this morning and I had an accident waiting for it Blush
Scales after showed I've now lost 8lbs week 4.
Nervous to go up to 0.5 when I'm having results on 0.25.

StuckInTheUpsideDown · 10/12/2022 08:50

Oh no @Happierwithouthim poor you.

assuming you’re just taking the Ozempic for weight loss and not diabetes/blood sugar control then you don’t have to increase the dosage if you think it is doing enough for you now. Looking at other groups online some people move up extremely slowly or not at all.

If you do want to increase you don’t have to jump to 0.5, you can move to it more slowly using a click chart to determine dosage.

ashamed222 · 10/12/2022 09:32

8 lbs!!! that's great.
I keep thinking about how i'll manage the pen when i go on holiday in a few weeks time.
it's a long haul flight so woukd i pack it the checked case or bring it as hand luggage?
not sure what diabetic people do as woukd be dangerous if the case got lost but can you bring needles in hand luggage?
maybe i'll have to contact the airline

leilani83 · 10/12/2022 09:48

So moved to 0.75mg and no side effects to speak of, and 400g disappeared overnight, so my advice would be move up a dose if your weight has plateaued!

Happierwithouthim · 10/12/2022 10:39

Stuck yes just for weight loss so I might just do another week of .25mg and see what happens.
I don't really want symptoms for Christmas so maybe continue like this until that's over

Happierwithouthim · 10/12/2022 10:39

Side effects rather than symptoms I guess

HermioneWeasley · 10/12/2022 14:51

@ashamed222 juniper will do you a travel letter. I took it in hand luggage in an insulated insulin pouch, but once the pen has been used once it doesn’t have to be refrigerated

S0upertrooper · 10/12/2022 15:14

@ashamed222 I travelled long haul recently and was advised not to put in checked in luggage as it might freeze. I put the box with needles in checked in, and the pen in my hand luggage in the plastic bag for liquids. In total it went through 4 scanners with no issues. I think staff are used to seeing them.

S0upertrooper · 10/12/2022 15:15

@ashamed222 also, no need to refigerate, that's just for long term storage.

Cantonet · 11/12/2022 09:44

How are you feeling today @Oblomov22 ? After all this misery you won't want to risk a second dose I'm sure.

ashamed222 · 12/12/2022 13:08

it's arrived only thing is i was going to keep it a secret because i've tried so many times to lose weight and want to just see how i get on and every single person is in because of the snow!!!
going to start tomorrow

Happierwithouthim · 12/12/2022 13:36

Off to bathroom with you ashamed you'll have it done in minutes, I've only told a handful of people, been battling with me weight since ds was born 9 years ago.

ashamed222 · 12/12/2022 13:42

ha !! i'm actually having A nice evening tonight with some friends so i'll definitely start tomorrow as i'm not doing much this week so can keep any side effects to my big fat self!!
how's everyone else doing?

Stillwearingskinnies · 12/12/2022 17:05

Quick update from me: I've been on the medication for 4 weeks.

The first couple of weeks were fine regarding side effects, just the occasional feeling of nausea which passed quickly. In 2 weeks I lost 9lb.
Then a complete stall in week 3, which was annoying, as well as a return of the cravings. It was a difficult week.
Week 4 was better and after week 4 I had lost a total of 11lb, which I'm really pleased with. I was starting to feel desperate to increase the dose as I felt it just wasn't working for me at all.

I'm finding I don't feel any hunger after lunchtime so I suppose the fact that I don't want to eat like I used to is the medication "working". I have made a concerted effort to eat healthier, have fewer snacks and generally eat less.

I'm already thinking about how I will be eating over Christmas and I'm determined to not overdo it. This is not like me at all! I'm enjoying feeling in control of my eating and the scales moving in the right direction for the first time in years.

First 0.5 mg dose yesterday and no nasty side effects yet.

ashamed222 · 12/12/2022 17:07

Wow that is fantastic news!,, Well done so lovely to hear something so positive. Flowers

Stillwearingskinnies · 12/12/2022 17:11

Thank you so much @ashamed222
Enjoy your evening tonight and good luck for when you start tomorrow!

magicstar1 · 12/12/2022 17:16

I'm down 24lb now. I had two bad days over the weekend with my fourth dose of 1mg, but it's still worth it. I'm hoping I'll hit the two stone before Christmas.

ashamed222 · 12/12/2022 17:47

again a marvellous result!! congratulations xxx

Stillwearingskinnies · 12/12/2022 17:54

That's amazing @magicstar1 !!

HermioneWeasley · 12/12/2022 18:01

Great news @Stillwearingskinnies

the number on the scale just won’t budge for me but I can feel my clothes are much looser. I was hoping to have lost a stone by Xmas and that’s not going to happen.

Did you move on to new pen or do it from first pen?

I just did 0.5mg from first pen.
