Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

StuckInTheUpsideDown · 08/12/2022 13:20

At the 3 month mark and almost 40 lbs down.

I’m delighted and feel I can keep this up for the long haul far more than prior weight loss efforts as still a long way to go towards a final goal. Combined with low carbing compared to pre Ozempic I have more energy, less gastro issues, better blood sugar control. Does still require some discipline not to keep eating unnecessarily or snack when bored but so much easier.

That's amazing, well done!!!

Katrinawaves · 08/12/2022 15:50

That’s amazing @StuckInTheUpsideDown

end of second week for me and I stayed the same this week. I’m not too upset about this as I had 3 meals out this week all with alcohol so I would in normal times have expected to gain.

next jab is tomorrow.

HermioneWeasley · 08/12/2022 16:13

Wow @StuckInTheUpsideDown thats amazing! I’m at 20
weeks and still only lost 8lbs! I’m trying to relax and enjoy Xmas and I’ll be more disciplined in the new year. Been sick again this week so not been able to exercise (or move at all!)

10 weeks not 20!

Moved up to .5 a couple of weeks ago and my weight loss just stalled Today the scales show half a kilo gone so hoping this will sustain.

Oblomov22 · 09/12/2022 06:30

Took first injection last night. Felt ill, sick, gassy, burping all night. Sick kept coming up into my mouth and I swallowed it again. At 6.30am I was violently sick as I lay in bed. My last night dinner came up, all over me, all over my chest, my hair, the bedclothes. As I was loading them into the washing machine, I was being sick into the kitchen sink, yellow bile. Not the best start.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 09/12/2022 06:43

Oblomov22 - oh no! Is that after a 0.25mg dose? Hope it settles down soon.

Oblomov22 · 09/12/2022 06:54

Yes Serenade. Feeling a bit sorry for myself right now.

I'm same, only lost 0.1kg in the past week on 0.5mg and was really hungry yesterday...Wondering whether to take 0.75mg today...

LovelaceBiggWither · 09/12/2022 07:57

I am inevitably going to run out of ozempic before the shortage here ends so am trying keep it low as possible. I'd also be wary of side effects when titrating fast.

HermioneWeasley · 09/12/2022 08:15

Oh @Oblomov22 that sounds miserable. Hope it passes quickly. Only eat lightly the evening you take your injection. I’ve started taking it early evening and leaving it to see if I am hungry at all. Often just have a small snack.

Madferitchick · 09/12/2022 08:18

@Oblomov22 that doesn't sound fun - hope it improves quickly 🤞🏻

I haven't taken my dose this week - my sleep is unbearable - awake from 2:30 every night. It hasn't improved despite missing the injection this week but I guess it takes a while it get out of our systems. Plus I'm probably in a pattern now 🙄☹️

Not sure I'm going to start again - def not before Xmas anyway. I've got a whole new pen sat waiting in the fridge too 🙄🙄

Oblomov22 · 09/12/2022 08:29

Thank you.
I am at home, supposed to be working but so ill, lying on sofa with blanket over me, and bucket next to me incase I am sick again, which I feel I am going to be.

ashamed222 · 09/12/2022 10:30

oh dear all a bit disheartening!!
my first pen is arriving on monday.
This may sound very naive but i wonder do you rely on the drug to work magically or do you follow a diet supported by it?
if so what do people find the most successful?
i've really only ever lost weight with slimming world but i always fall off the wagon and end up piling it all back on plus a bit fir good measure.
Do you follow calorie intake /
fasting any advice would be great

also i hope you are feeling better.
do you think it's the jab or a viral thing?
hope it's viral at least you'll get over that fairly quickly and can get on track xxx

Have faith, it does work! I've barely had any side effects and lost almost 4kg in four weeks which I'm happy with. I've found that you do have to make an effort and if you slip it shows. I've had a bit of extra food and wine this week and only lost 01.kg so planning to make an extra effort from now on. But when you make an effort Ozempic makes it easier, so no major hunger pangs or feeling sick from hunger so it's easier to stick to your new routine.

leilani83 · 09/12/2022 10:45

P.S. Took 0.75mg today and hoping for the best...🤐

magicstar1 · 09/12/2022 10:53

Can I join in here? I started in October on .25, did a month on .5 and am now on 1mg. I had the horrible burps and sickness for a few days on the 1mg, but I read that injecting into the thigh helps with the side effects, and it's worked.
I'm down 22lbs. I've a hell of a lot to lose, but this is the first time I've been able to stick to something so easily.
My chemist told me last night that he can't get the 1mg right now, so I might go back to .5 over Christmas to keep up with some dosage.

HermioneWeasley · 09/12/2022 11:04

@Madferitchick apologies if you’re the wrong demographic for this, but could the early morning waking be menopause related?

OP posts:
HermioneWeasley · 09/12/2022 11:06

@ashamed222 my calorie intake reduced because I had so little hunger I was just eating fewer calories even though my meals didn’t change - so fewer snacks and much smaller meals and initially the weight came off quickly and consistently. Now I’ve plateaued I think I might have to do something more intentional (after Xmas!) and need to think about what I’m going to do when I stop taking it.

Sounds awful, poor you. I would be in the phone to the supplier and ask if there are medicines they can prescribe and send to help.

You are quite sure you took a 0.25 dosage, yes and not a higher one? I only ask as that sounds quite bad at that dosage. I do remember having nausea and burps at first though.

if you wanted to continue you could discuss with the provider a slower titration path eg start of 0.1, slowly move up from there. Also the thigh is meant to be better than the stomach for side effects am not sure why though.

StuckInTheUpsideDown · 09/12/2022 11:57

@ashamed222 ultimately if you don’t reduce your calorie intake you won’t lose weight. Ozempic May make you less hungry once established as it delays gastric emptying - or you remain fuller for longer. It also helps with blood sugar control.

For me personally I’ve been doing low carb eating and most days do 16-8 ie I eat within an 8 hour window normally 12-8. Low carb was hard for the first 7-10 days but after that it is fine. Requires more prep and planning though. If you’re interested in low carb there are lots of other threads to look at. I have PCOS and accompanying insulin resistance so low carb gives me other benefits. Plenty of other people lose weight on Ozempic following other plans or just finding them can get by on less.

You may want to give it a while, see how you get on just with the injections and whether it helps with appetite reduction and if the weight doesn’t start to come off, be more intentional about your eating.
