I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

How do you know if there’s anything left in your pen?

You can see how far the plunger has got in the window and also once it’s empty you can’t wind it anymore.

I am coming to the end of a pen for 1mg shots. Looking before and after the last shot I did I could see visually there wouldn’t be enough to get another full 1mg out but still some, perhaps half. And it is far too expensive to waste! I moved the clicker around and it went about half way - you can wind it back. If you google you can find how many clicks different dosages are. So when I come to next use I will need to count how many clicks I can do on old pen, administer the shot, deduct the number of clicks done from a 1mg dosage and then do the remaining clicks, counting carefully, from the new pen.

BTW you should of course be using a new needle each time you inject so for my next dose I will be using two. You can buy more online, I got from Amazon, they aren’t expensive for a large box. You could probably get from an independent chemist.

Down 3lbs end week 2. Delighted.

Has anyone experienced side effects of feeling jittery and anxious? Not sure if it's the oxen pic or just how I'm feeling atm!

I'm feeling a bit anxious on a higher dose but not sure it is the med as stuff is going on in my life which could be causing it.

I haven't experienced this but I'm only a couple of weeks into it.

After moaning that appetite suppression disappeared in week 2 and I fell into far too much food, I still appear to have lost 2lbs.

Blooming delighted with that as I thought it wasn't working for me.

Well done on the losses everyone. I'm due my 3rd 0.25 on Saturday so won't weigh until then. In the meantime, can I ask if anyone else is cold all the time since starting? This is very unlike my usual menopausal hot self😅 and it's a bone chilling type of cold.

Yes! I’m freezing in bed at night. Hadn’t associated it with the ozempic but you may be right that’s what’s causing it.

I've been driving DH crazy, constantly saying how cold I am. I too didn't associate it with the medication.

I'm keen to move on to 0.50 as I'm not feeling much effect in week 3. I will be amazed if I've lost anything at all this week

I took my third dose of 0.25mg on Mon eve, scales was up wed but I'd expect that after pasta tues night, dropped by 1lbs this morning.

I've been very cold about two nights per week and I definitely associate it with ozempic, one night I was in bed with a wooly cap and dressing gown on before I eventually warmed up

I just took my 3rd dose but haven't weighed this week I'm waiting for a few weeks now. Nobody knows I'm taking it but DH commented my bum looked smaller!

I'm still having the desired effects of no cravings and no real interest in eating. Having to force myself to eat but trying to make sure it's healthy when I do.

No issues with moving up to 1mg. Good hunger suppression and usual vivid dreams but nothing else so far

I’m taking my second shot tomorrow and had a weigh in today in preparation. 4lbs down from last Friday. I’m happy with this as a first week loss.
