I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

Strange thing is I slept fine the first few nights but not the last couple. It may well be me though as I am not the best sleeper but 2.30am is insane when I have to get up at 5.30am and do a 13 hour shift. I have lost 2lbs this week with very little effort so I am happy with that and aside from the sleep no other side effects. Did my second injection last night so will see what this week brings.

Fedupofdiets · 25/11/2022 09:33

@leilani83 Fab progress!

Happierwithouthim · 25/11/2022 10:21

@Queenelsarules Get started! What have you got to lose?
I've spent the last 9 years dieting and trying to get back to my pre pregnancy self, there's definitely a hormonal issue going on as I lost baby weight after first baby relatively easily.

I took first injection last monday week and second one this monday and scales this morning shows me 6lbs down, this would usually take me a month or two to achieve as I'm a slow loser.

However yesterday I did have an upset tummy but ds had d & v bug on Monday so I don't know if that's to blame or what? Hmm

COL1N · 25/11/2022 13:01

Quick qu- are you all storing ozempic in the fridge? Thats what the instructions say to do but Ive read online that once you've used the pen once you can store at room temp? I would much prefer this as I have a very mischievous 3 year old & the fridge isnt locked!

StuckInTheUpsideDown · 25/11/2022 13:21

Went to the gym yesterday and picked up a weight equivalent to what I’ve lost so far to see what it felt like and how much harder it was to walk around the gym floor carrying it. It felt so heavy and made me feel glad I’ve managed to free myself from it. Still a lot more to go mind!

FinallyHere · 25/11/2022 15:43

Genius. 😃

Katrinawaves · 25/11/2022 17:23

My pen arrived today so I took my first injection around 4pm today.

I went out in style though as I had been invited to a Gliterary lunch today so had a delicious meal with wine and good company before I started my new regime. Hoping that this, along with the jab, will tide me over for the rest of the day and that I will wake up tomorrow with a readjusted appetite and stronger willpower!

For those who are wondering, this is what a Gliterary lunch is

@Katrinawaves

Thank you for the link. Our Bookgroup has been looking for exactly something like this.

S0upertrooper · 26/11/2022 03:07

@COL1N yes you can keep the pen out of the fridge once it's opened.

I was at my GP yesterday for check up and new pen (box 4), so I've been using this for about 12 weeks. I've lost 7kg, just over 14lbs and my blood pressure is down too. GP is really happy with my progress.

If I eat something too fatty, it can upset my stomach and since going up to the full dose, I can't drink much. I think my dreams are more vivid too.

My desire for food has decreased and I find I eat much slower too. Definately a success for me.

Hairlikeabewitchedhaystack · 26/11/2022 10:14

It's great to hear how everyone else is getting on when starting off. I'm due to take my second 0.25 today. No real loss this first week and the biggest issue has been constipation and cramps since Wednesday. I still have cramps this morning and am thinking this can't really be due to a 0.25 dose last Saturday? Or can it? I guess I expected the impact to wear off towards the end of the week. Has anyone else had this?

Stillwearingskinnies · 26/11/2022 10:45

I'm coming to the end of the 2nd week on 0.25 & I'm really struggling with cravings

HermioneWeasley · 26/11/2022 13:49

@Hairlikeabewitchedhaystack I sometimes have cramps the day after an injection.

@Stillwearingskinnies what are you craving

good news, after nothing for 10 days I’ve lost a couple more pounds. I’m seeing numbers on the scales I haven’t seen for years. At this rate I’ll have lost a stone by Xmas which will be great.

i’m due to move up to 1mg next week and I’m interested to see what impact that has.

Thanks Hermione, hopefully its one of those early symptoms that will clear. Well done on your weight loss too by the way.

Stillwearingskinnies · 26/11/2022 15:28

@HermioneWeasley Good news on your losses.
It's weird, I know I said I wasn't sure if the medication was working, as I felt as if I was making a fully conscious choice to eat less......well I think it must have been working because today I feel exactly like I did before I started taking it. I'm really hungry and frankly I could eat anything at all. I don't have the control that I've had.
My third dose is tomorrow and I'm desperate to take it so I don't ruin all the progress I've made over the last 2 weeks

I'm about ten days in and completely agree. First week I wasn't bothered about eating at all. Now completely back to pre oz cravings and eating. Zero appetite suppression. Gonna have to white knuckle it to week 5 when I go up to 0.5 I think.

HermioneWeasley · 26/11/2022 22:19

@Stillwearingskinnies if you’re only on 0.25 then I think that’s fairly typical at this stage. I think officially it’s not supposed to have much effect until you get to 1mg, so see any weight loss up to then as a bonus

SuperSange · 27/11/2022 08:11

I've bitten the bullet and followed a link above but it's given me a choice of rybelsus tablets or ozempic. Does anyone have experience of this? And it seems that you can get whichever treatment for £150 a month approx. Does that sound about right?

SuperSange · 27/11/2022 08:23

@HermioneWeasley Could I please have the code and your name so I can fill in the form? Thank you x

Katrinawaves · 27/11/2022 18:46

I’m on Day 3 now and pleased to say that I’ve had no unpleasant side effects from my first injection. I don’t know if it’s the placebo effect but I have also eaten less than usual. Am going to try to resist weighing myself until I’m due to take my second injection.

Happierwithouthim · 27/11/2022 23:34

Due to take my third injection of 0.25mg tomo it was definitely wearing off today appetite suppression had fairly disappeared.

ifeelbeautifulbutunnoticed · 28/11/2022 04:17

I'm on Day 5; appetite suppression has gone. Last night, I had strong cravings I couldn't resist and snacked in bed. I'm trying not to beat myself up about it.

Madferitchick · 28/11/2022 07:09

Hi all, sorry to hear I'm not the only one with sleep issues ☹️ I've taken sleeping pills last few nights which helped a bit.

A question about the pen/dose. I have a 1.5ml dose and have done 6 x .25mg doses so in theory would need a new pen...but I still have half of it left 🤔 is that normal?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 28/11/2022 07:31

Which pen do you have? There are 8 0.25mg doses or 4 0.5mg doses in both the 0.25 mb and the 0.5 mg pens.

I fell off the no sugar wagon over the weekend and am annoyed with myself. Still it’s Monday morning and so have had my third 0.5 mg injection. Time for another new start.

My pen shows as 1.5ml in total quantity but is delivering 0.25mg doses!?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 28/11/2022 07:37

From the information sheet: One pre-filled pen contains 2 mg semaglutide in 1.5 ml solution. Each dose contains 0.25 mg of semaglutide in 0.19 ml.

so 8 doses in total even though they say 4.
