🍁LOSE IT! October 2022🍁12 WEEK COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 🎄

Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! September Thread here’s October’s Thread.

Dare I say it’s officially the 12 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a complete body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right into October! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Oh no, Jacqueline - what an awful thing to happen and I echo, Allthegoodnames in being kind to yourself. I can't imagine how it feels to know someone has been in and taken your things - a week of concentrating on you and your family sounds more than needed Flowers

Lovely to hear from so many of us as we head towards another WoW.. and whilst I don't weigh tomorrow, I find the way you guys all handle the ups and downs so motivating and give me the boost I need as I hit Friday so thank you!

Good luck with your race, Miranda - I smell a PB in your future 😉 and impressed, as always, with your rowing achievements, CrimsonAlligator! Great NSV 💪

Had my gynae scan this morning to rule out anything sinister down there causing my back pain.. Good news is that it all looks good and healthy so I think I need to accept I'm just getting older and I need to take it easy at certain points of the month.

Cloudberries123 · 11/10/2022 15:42

Making poor food choices again today with a packet of cookies that I bought when out desperately walking the grizzly baby. I've scoffed the lot 😳 Once again, I don't feel better for having eaten them all, in fact I feel a bit sick. But having a really low day energy-wise and neither me nor baby are very rested.

Fully expecting to see a gain tomorrow, but that'll have to be chalked up to experience. I'm in this for the long haul so while I don't feel great, I'm not throwing in the towel as I might have before.

Really sorry about the cars @JacquelineCarlyle Go easy on yourself at this time

TheRealHousewife · 11/10/2022 16:08

@JacquelineCarlyle OMG how unsettling for you and your family. Anyone would need to seek comfort after such an awful event 😞 Sending a hug ❤️

@Allthegoodnamestakken Plateaus are so frustrating. Mine was so long I thought my body had reached its set point. After a few months I made a few tweaks, coupled with being slightly more active and I started losing again. No matter how stuck you feel you must keep going. Don’t chuck the towel in and have the thought ‘what’s the point’. That’s just a route to undoing all your progress to date 👍

@Cloudberries123 sorry to read you’ve a grizzly baby at the moment. I really feel for you! Be kind to yourself, you’re doing a great job. Perhaps have some healthier snacks to hand. Nuts/bananas etc. Not necessarily low calorie but full of slow release energy, fibre, healthy fats and nutrients 👍

@SanFranBear pleased to read your scan is clear. Sorry about the back pain, so debilitating! Ooooo what can you ‘smell’ in my future? Anything nice 😊

@MirandaWest Sorry I omitted to say good luck for the weekend race. I’m sure you’ll do great!

@GonnaGetGoingReturns Youre very welcome … I like my posse around me. This thread is nothing without you lovely lot! Well done on swerving Tony’s … not easy! When I checkout my on-line shop one of the Tonys varieties pop up to seduce me into putting the filthy treat in my basket. I have a proper struggle with my finger … thankfully I win the tussle 😬

Right I’m off for a soak as I find it eases my back pain 🛁

Down to 80.1kg as of Monday morning but got my 2 kids (5 and 3years) at home with fevers and vomiting so picking up whatever food is quickest/most available at the moment inbetween monitoring fevers and giving nurofen and calpol. I guess l will pay for these choices next Monday. Down 0.7kg though this week so still smiling.... for now :-)

fallfallfall · 11/10/2022 17:44

well done @Vikki7
@JacquelineCarlyle in 1982 we had our car stolen :(, it was a nerve-wracking experience. i hope the insurance follow-up goes well and you have lovely replacement options.
@TheRealHousewife my morning shower was a bit on the long drawn out side and may consider using the hot tub tonight. the higher burn series is obviously a bit harder and the muscles feel it.
mammogram today at 3:30...hopefully an uneventful appointment. but the two staff are a piece of work.

fallfallfall · 12/10/2022 03:33

ummmm needing an ultrasounds after a mammogram leads me straight to gummy candy and pie :(. i did real myself in before disaster struck and had a salad for supper.
i doubt they will book the u/s before i go east...sure way to ruin a "holiday".

SanFranBear · 12/10/2022 06:56

Oh fallfall - here's hoping they're just being thorough. What a worry though - and yes, bad timing for your break. Is it this weekend you're off? I really hope you're still able to enjoy yourself - you've been really 'on plan' for months and deserve some proper R&R!

milkfromthesleepycow · 12/10/2022 07:21

Hope everything is fine @fallfallfall, sending positive thoughts your way

WOW a gain as expected- 2.5kg! In a week! Carbs are not my friends it seems.
However, looking out the windows it's not raining, I've got the day off and I'm planning on going for a run. Early night tonight, chicken and veg for dinner.
Onwards and inwards

Good luck to anyone weighing today

Rewis · 12/10/2022 07:37

SW 88.4kg
Last week: 86.9kg
This week: 86.9kg
GW 85kg

Stayed the same. But I think it's fair. I've been eating leftovers and stuff which have not really been the most balanced and has been a bit of over eating. But will get to my normal routine.

Slightlystressedwife · 12/10/2022 08:01

Thanks so much for the check in @TheRealHousewife ! I really needed a prod as I'd been losing my way a bit and had a very indulgent weekend - as a result was piling on the pounds in what felt like a rather excessive way and I was feeling a bit sorry for myself. Gave myself a talking to and got back on things on Monday but resigned to a gain this week. Anyway turns out it was AF - I've never had water retention like it! I have "lost" 5 lbs since Sunday! Completely nutty.
So overall vs last week I'm down another half a pound which I'm very happy with! Slowly trudging back towards my pre-honeymoon weight Smile

WoW
SW 11st 8lb
CW 10st 5lb
TW 9st 7lb

Good luck everyone else today. And so sorry to hear about the burglary @JacquelineCarlyle I hope things are starting to feel a bit better.

Cloudberries123 · 12/10/2022 08:23

Morning all. A happy surprise as I'm down 200g on last week, despite the sleep deprivation biscuit binges. I don't care if its water weight, psychologically I need the boost so I'll take it!

SW: 100.4kg
CW: 99.2kg

Feeling much better today and motivated to pay attention to what I'm eating. A big outing today with the baby which will involve 2hrs walking, so that's good too!

Hello I’m still here! Sorry it’s been such a hectic week. I’ve realised I’m getting very good at packing for the baby but always seem to forget me - out of the house from 9:30 - 3pm yesterday and a raging headache because I didn’t take a drink. So that’s my goal this week, HYDRATION. Especially important when breastfeeding 🤦‍♀️
So sorry to hear about the theft Jaqueline, fingers crossed fallfall and solidarity with the baby and biscuit situ cloudberries.

GW 11st
SW 12st 10
week 1 12st 11
CW 12st 10

back to where I started, but I do weigh every day and log on the happy scale app which is telling me my overall trend is 0.5lb off a week thanks to some lower weigh ins over the weekend so fingers crossed I can improve for next Wednesday.

CrimsonAlligator · 12/10/2022 08:39

Morning all! I’m 0.5 kg down from last week. That’s more than I expected as I’m not aiming for big calorie deficits this month. It’ll be interesting to see if the loss continues over the next week, or if it was just a fluke 🤔

So sorry to hear that @fallfallfall . Hopefully they are just being thorough, but that’s the last thing you need before going on holiday.

giatta · 12/10/2022 08:41

Morning all
SW 84.1kg
CW 84.4kg
GW 68kg
Up 0.7 since last week, 😭really hope it's just the water retention

Lizsmum · 12/10/2022 08:41

@fallfallfall I know so many people who've had ultrasounds after mammograms - including me - and have found nothing to be worried about at all. I know you won't be able to get it out of your mind but if you look at the statistics it is much more likely that there really isn't a problem.
Well done for the salad supper.

RadFad · 12/10/2022 08:45

Morning!
I managed a maintain this week thankfully. I've given myself a stern talking to so hoping for a better week.

Lizsmum · 12/10/2022 08:47

SW 15 st
CW 12 st

A loss of 3lbs this week
I've been going up and down between 12 3 and 12 1 since the beginning of September so it was very nice to see 12 0 this morning. But oh I really want to see 11 something and it seems so far off.

CassandraBarrett · 12/10/2022 09:50

@Lizsmum you're so close to 11 something! Keep it up!!

CassandraBarrett · 12/10/2022 09:54

SW 64.4kg
CW 61.3kg
GW 59kg

Down 3.1kg . It's bouncing up and down but it's lower overall than at the start .
2.3kg to go.

Tinks95 · 12/10/2022 10:55

Checking in! I am desperate to loose some weight and get healthy 😊

TheRealHousewife · 12/10/2022 11:02

Good Morning All

@giatta @milkfromthesleepycow You’re in good company. My WOW - Up 2 lbs overall this month 😮. My goal for October has changed to just reverse this unwanted gain and get back to where I was👍 Still well into the 9’s so not panicking but good grief could do without this bump in the road 😬

Staying the same/maintaining is a win in my book @RadFad @Jammymare @Rewis 👍 Keep going!

Absolutely well done on all your losses. Great results 👍👏🏅@CassandraBarrett @Lizsmum @CrimsonAlligator @Jammymare @wannadisc0 @Cloudberries123 @Slightlystressedwife @Vikki7

Allthegoodnamestakken · 12/10/2022 14:46

@fallfallfall fingers crossed for you, that sounds really stressful!
Well done to everyone who lost this week
I'm at 68.2kgs today so still fluctuating between 68 and 68.5 as I have done for the last weeks.
Heading out for dinner for mils birthday today, will pick a sensible option and then it's time to really look at my diet and see where I can reduce further. Also going to try and get the step count up a bit. I do two quite intense crossfit sessions a week but need to add in more walks and running like I was doing in August

JacquelineCarlyle · 12/10/2022 16:02

SW 31/8/22 84.8kg (13st 5lb)
CW 84.4kg
TW 63.5kg (10st)

Somehow managed to lose 2 1/2lb this week - no idea how after all the comfort eating!

Thanks to all for the kind wishes - it's weirdly comforting to think of strangers wishing me well and sympathising/ empathising with my situation!

Now to keep up the weight loss for this coming week.

Sorry about your gain @TheRealHousewife but you're doing amazingly well and no doubt you'll have that off again this week.

fallfallfall · 12/10/2022 16:31

weighing in at 141.8 up.1 from last weeks low of 141.7
i'm content with this.
yes i need to focus on the positive aspect that they are being thorough.
food wise: i have spaghetti squash to use up, cottage cheese and melon. my plan is to eat healthy till we leave on monday am (0400 maybe that's more sunday night ha ha ha)
lots of people stepping on the scale :), up down or sideways it's a good step.
