🍁LOSE IT! October 2022🍁12 WEEK COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 🎄

Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! September Thread here’s October’s Thread.

Dare I say it’s officially the 12 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a complete body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right into October! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Morning! Good luck to all weighing today.

Just remembered I'm out to lunch today, to a traditional 'greasy spoon' style cafe. Haven't been there for years so not sure what they offer these days but I need some inspiration/ideas on what to order to stay as low cal and bread free as possible please?

Dinner was due to be Quorn nuggets, homemade wedges and peas. May have to rethink this if I can't order healthy from the cafe.

Rewis · 05/10/2022 07:57

88.4kg
Last week: 87kg
This week: 86.9kg

GW 85kg

At least it was a loss. Final football game today. If we win we will be champions!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 05/10/2022 08:13

@ImALittlePea something egg based could be a good option, I quite like scrambled eggs, bacon and baked beans as a treat breakfast (or lunch).
@Rewis good luck with your football match

No a great WoW for me today, still sitting at 68kg although also was 67.8kg when the scales moved slightly. Can't say I am hugely surprised after the awful weekend I had food wise. Planning a much more active weekend this week so hopefully that will help.
Lunch today - I haven't decided but perhaps some cheese, rice cakes and salad
Dinner - braised beef, was planning it with mash but perhaps based on the no loss this week i'll swap that out for veggies.

SW 12.2lb
CW 12.10lb
GW 10.00 lb

I'm happy with the loss this week. Last night was a heavy night - 2 glasses wine/feta/sugary snack/carbs.

Im still in the right mindset though, which is key for me

TheRealHousewife · 05/10/2022 08:41

Good Morning All

@ImALittlePea 🙏❤️

@MirandaWest Great NSV. My boobs haven’t reduced much but my band size has considerably. If I wasn’t such a wimp I’d get my G cups reduced and uplifted to a nice D 😬 I’m sure I’d lose another 12lbs if I did 😆

@SingaporeSlinky The monkey nut shells! I remember feeling somewhat surprised at the sight of them and looking for the monkeys that might have dropped them. I’m sure we saw some outside nearby.

@Millie2008 My hand weights are tiny. I think 1lb and 2lb. I have some heavier from my younger days but since my SCI I cause to much compression if I lift too much now. Perhaps go a bit lighter and build up the weight.

@Notsoyummymummy2 Welcome to the thread! Congratulations on your babies! It’s good that you are now trying to fit some self care in and get back into your comfort zone. The plan you’ve outlined seems sensible. In regards to processed foods is it possible for you to not buy it so it isn’t in the house? Only an idea, not an instruction 😊

@Was126orbustandmaybebust Well done on your loss! Id be absolutely thrilled with 4.2lb loss in 15 days. That is marvellous. It’s all about perspective and expectations. One of my general mantras for life is consider everything and assume nothing. Our bodies are complex and ever more so with each passing year. You are doing great 👍

@fallfallfall Thats impressive! Lesley’s videos are fabulous! 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve done the trotting around the house Ring top up too! Although my stats/limits are not as impressive as yours.

@CrimsonAlligator Your well deserved pasta dish sounds tasty 😋. Well done on your rowing. 👍

Well done on your WOWS @Rewis @RadFad @milkfromthesleepycow Losses are losses. Even more gains in the grand scheme of things are ok and absolutely normal 👍Keep doing what you’re doing, it’ll be worth it.

I forget to post about NSV … a recent one is my jeans belt being on the first hole. It used to be the 5th or 6th along.

I’ve not WOWED due to having had a cuppa brought to me in bed and to be honest … TMI WARNING ⚠️… I feel bunged up! 😳. I like to be ‘empty’ of any beverages/food/waste before weighing 😬

Post is longer than I thought and I need to go out now so will finish for now.

Enjoy your day!

SW 84.1kg
CW 83.7kg
GW 68kg

Loss of 0.4 since last week, happy with it.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 05/10/2022 09:00

Such determination on this thread - well done all.

@TheRealHousewife I would be delighted with losing at this rate had I not been restarting - last November/December I was pleased with 0.5lb every fortnight. But it is what it is and that's it.
Day 16
SW:143.2
CW:138.2
GW:126
4.4lbs in 16 days.
Onward and inwards!

Lizsmum · 05/10/2022 09:02

SW 15st
CW 12 st 3lbs
GAIN of 2lbs this week

I have given myself a stern talking to. I know that one reason for the gain was a birthday celebration and then leftover birthday food - nothing really bad but just too much of it. I've also noted that I control my eating less well as I get tired towards the end of the day so I'm going to be organising dinner earlier.
Onwards and downwards.

Cloudberries123 · 05/10/2022 09:28

Morning all!

SW 100.4kg
CW 99.4kg

Happy with that after the recent unfortunate gain. I am determined never to see 100 again!

Breakfast: toasted sunflower seed bread with cream cheese. Coffee

Lunch and dinner undecided yet but we've got plenty of wholesome food in. Exercise probably not much as the baby's poorly.

Well done to everyone weighing, whether it's a loss, STS or gain!

Slightlystressedwife · 05/10/2022 10:36

Lots of losses so far, well done everyone!

WoW
SW 11st 8lb
CW 10st 5.5lb
TW 9st 7lb

I'm half a pound off vs last week which is more than I deserve after the weekend! Been back at the gym this week though so I'm feeling increasingly back in the zone after my post-honeymoon blues!

Good luck everyone else WoW!

@ImALittlePea a veggie omelette is your friend at a greasy spoon!

HouseofHolbein · 05/10/2022 10:44

Right so I started again on Monday.

SW - 138.8lb
CW - 138.2lb
GW - 133lb (ish)

Almost 0.5lb since Monday. That'll be the beer weight disappearing 🤣🤣

TheRealHousewife · 05/10/2022 11:03

I wasn't telling you off, @Was126orbustandmaybebust and I hope it didn't come across that way. Apologies if it did :)

@HouseofHolbein 😅

@Slightlystressedwife @giatta well done to you both 👌

@Cloudberries123 Fabulous! Keep going :)

@Lizsmum Try not to be too hard on yourself, you are human and its good for the soul to partake in celebrations. It'll soon be gone again.

Hello Everyone !
Well done on all the losses today ! Lots of great results !

Thank you for your kind welcome @TheRealHousewife. It's been lovely to read the different contributions on the thread. Great to feel part of a group too.

So, today on Monday I was 68.5kg and today I'm 67.4kg so down a kilo already which is probably due to more reasonable eating and less wine. Smile

TheRealHousewife · 05/10/2022 11:07

You are very welcome @WitchWand and congrats on your flying start!

TW 63.5kg (10st)

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 05/10/2022 11:28

Gosh no!!!! @TheRealHousewife
I'm telling me off for letting things slide but it was a great summer with both DDs so I'll suck it up and burn it off little bit by little bit.

WitchWand · 05/10/2022 11:35

TheRealHousewife · 05/10/2022 11:07

You are very welcome @WitchWand and congrats on your flying start!

I really appreciate your kindness and encouragement. It's very motivating @TheRealHousewife !
All the best to everyone else for this next stage. Smile

mumsy2015 · 05/10/2022 12:05

Hi all, hope it's ok if i join you. This seems a lovely uplifting thread. I am trying to improve my health and a big part of that is diet and exercise. I have just had a health check and my cholesterol and blood pressure are both very slightly raised which has just emphasised the need to make changes now. The plan is to cut out processed foods as much as possible, start regular exercise (i have signed up to Les Mills on demand and am doing a beginners plan), and reduce my alcohol consumption. I have been a daily drinker for some time so will start with having 4 alcohol free days a week. I'm hoping to lose 2lbs per week for the first few weeks and expect it to then slow down. Wish me luck!

Cloudberries123 · 05/10/2022 13:31

Welcome and good luck @mumsy2015 I agree that this thread is really uplifting. I occasionally look at some of the other threads on the Weight Loss board and then I come back here where it's all serene and gently supportive 😊

Just posting now to stay accountable - I'm having a strong coffee and some pick 'n' mix to ward off an approaching migraine. With the sugar, I can just feel the little 'thoughts' in my head telling me to spend the rest of the day stuffing my face. But I really DON'T WANT TO and with everyone's support, I'll stay on an even keel.

TheLastStark · 05/10/2022 14:04

Hi guys, need as much support as possible so I'm joining another weight loss thread here (hope you don't mind).

Start weight it 93 kg
Goal weight is 80kg - would also be happy with 82-85kg.

Also looking to adding some fitness goals such as incorporating running and swimming into my rota.

SanFranBear · 05/10/2022 15:02

Well done, all WoWers... love everyone's motivation and determination!

Not being very well behaved this week - chocolate and crisps have been all too easily slipping down which is not great...not the worst but not the best either! Just totally off the boil but my cold seems to finally be on its way out so hoping my mojo will come back.. it needs to!

On the weights front, I can see mine from here and they are a rather pathetic 1kg but I only really used them for a bit of resistance for the 30 Day Shred...

TheRealHousewife · 05/10/2022 15:54

Afternoon All

@SanFranBear Its that tricky time of year where it's definitely cooler, getting darker at night and virus's are abundant. Your body needs more energy when fighting viruses and infections; now yours is on the way out I'm sure you'll be back on it. Your 1 kg weights are great for a short burst of arm exercises whist waiting for the kettle to boil :)

Welcome to the thread @TheLastStark How are you going to create a calorie deficit?

@Cloudberries123 I hope you don't get the full-blown migraine i know only too well how debilitating they can be.

@mumsy2015 Welcome to the thread. Some health markers are wake up calls to be more mindful about what could lie ahead if we don't take action. It's really a good idea to get cholesterol and blood pressure under control as soon as. We have had the same scares in this household recently. Oats are really good to help lower cholesterol as are Benecol products; We use the buttery spread. Also try to have fats that have omega 3s in to balance out omega 6s (most people have the wrong ration) My numbers are now optimum and my OHs are high normal, reduced from critically high. It's very insightful of you to realise you need to be more balanced about alcohol intake, well done on taking that decision. There is so much we can do to improve our own health outcomes.

Well done everyone who weighed today! Inspired as ever by the positivity and consistent forward-thinking 💪

Lunch out... Hmm... I ended up having a cooked breakfast which was one sausage, two rashers of bacon (but only ate one), a fried egg, beans (had about half), mushrooms (half eaten) and bubble and squeak (about half eaten). Didn't eat the toast. I'm still feeling full! Don't know whether to even attempt dinner tonight; might just have a small portion of what I'm cooking for DH.

I'm bouncing around the 62kg mark. Hopefully a sensible week will have a good effect.
I'm trying to do yoga every day so that might help
