🍁LOSE IT! October 2022🍁12 WEEK COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 🎄

Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! September Thread here’s October’s Thread.

Dare I say it’s officially the 12 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a complete body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right into October! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

I'm afraid I agree with @fallfallfall @TheRealHousewife @Slightlystressedwife that your friend isn't worried out of kindness, but that actually she is jealous. If your size dynamic has been consistently the same for 13 years, and now you've embarked on a successful and sustained weight loss journey, she could well be feeling a bit competitive or put out by the positive changes you've made. I don't want to speak out of turn towards your friend, as we obviously don't know her, but if she shows any 'concern' again I would be asking her outright why she's 'concerned' about you, rather than happy that you're moving steadily closer to a healthy BMI, more comfortable weight and fitness etc etc. I feel so sad that you've done so incredibly well to get to where you are, with such positivity and continuing to set goals etc, and she's got you questioning whether you want to continue on this path to achieve your goals. That's sabotage - don't let it fester in your head!

Nice to see you back @HouseofHolbein

Hi to the newbies!

Yes please @Slightlystressedwife to buddying up! I'm only a couple of lb away from where I want to be, but every time I've got to this point, I've plateaued or gained/lost back to this point again. I feel like I need an event or something to focus my efforts - but there's nothing. As I said yesterday, I feel like what I need is to build some proper exercise into my routine now, but urgh, CBA to even think about it. Help?!

Today's meals:
Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies, cheese triangle. An apple.
Dinner - jacket potato, beans, cheese, plus side salad

ImALittlePea · 03/10/2022 11:50

Sorry I forgot to tag you in my last post @SanFranBear don't let this friend derail your determination. I hope you're not feeling too unwell on top of the upset today ❤️

CrimsonAlligator · 03/10/2022 12:20

I can imagine that’s not the reaction you were expecting @SanFranBear . For what it’s worth, I don’t think it necessarily comes from a place of jealousy. Most people define themselves in relation to others and when other people change that can feel a little uncomfortable. Not because of anything you’ve done, but because consciously, or unconsciously it means that those people have to revisit how they think about themselves. Also some people just hate change, no matter what form it comes in. If this is a good friend, I’m sure she’ll get her head around it no matter what the reason behind this behaviour was. Pretty shitty that you had to put up with it though!

I thought you’d put on 3 stone in a couple of weeks @HouseofHolbein .That would have been quite an achievement!

@ImALittlePea I find that with exercise if I wait for motivation it never comes. So my exercise routine relies almost entirely on disciple and routine and the question of whether I want to do something now, or do something later doesn’t really come into it. That may sound a bit extreme, but it’s the only thing that works for me.

Welcome to all the newbies (too many to tag you all!). @CamoTeaLaLa I was struck by your post, a I too swing between super motivated and fuck-it all! I’ve been on this thread for around 1.5 years now and have found it incredibly helpful, especially during times when I’m going through a fuck-it-all phase. I don’t really post when I’m in that kind of mindset but do read other people’s posts, which reminds myself of the kind of person I want to be and it gives me something to get back to once I’m in a better headspace. @TheRealHousewife really deserves a medal for these threads. They’re lifechanging 🤗

ImALittlePea · 03/10/2022 12:28

I think you're very on point in terms of advice to SanFran, @CrimsonAlligator. In my post when I say jealous, I don't actually mean of the nasty, green-eyed type. But more of a projection of the changes you've made onto herself, and it bothering her. God that doesn't make sense written down, but it does in my head 😂

And yes Crimson, you're very right about exercise. My problem is working out what to do and when... I used to love boot camps, hiit, boxing and dance based classes. Got into amazing shape a few years ago! But after covid, most local classes are online only (or have ceased altogether), and I just don't get on well with doing it at home. The space, layout and little people make it difficult to manage and do properly. I hate the gym, and I hate running.. so I'm left not really knowing what to do and when. So then don't do it. I've got to work out a plan and make myself commit to it, as I know once I get started I tend to stick to it pretty well.

CamoTeaLaLa · 03/10/2022 12:57

Thank you @TheRealHousewife and @CrimsonAlligator 💐

Tbh the fuck-it extends to everything but I’m trying to keep it together 😬 I’m on an up swing at the moment so grasping that with both hands, and will try not to completely collapse during the inevitable down 🎢🙃

I had a colleague warning me I shouldn’t ‘go too far’ after my previous (big) loss… the same person who had begged me for my ‘secrets’ for her sister, Pooh-poohed them when I told her (look up TDEE for an idea of the science lol, track everything, keep steady, don’t beat yourself up and a ‘bad’ meal doesn’t have to be a bad day. Just positive stuff, not a meal plan) then said it was easy for me! People are weird. Oh, and I was 12 stone at 5’3 at the time! I just looked miniscule compared to how fat I had been 🤪

Cloudberries123 · 03/10/2022 13:37

Happy start to the week everybody. Just thought I'd come on and share the glamorous reality (for @Jammymare mainly) that today's lunch was a supermarket pizza and salad eaten with one hand while holding my sleeping baby with the other. I had to stop halfway through and get her back to sleep, which joking aside I think is great for slowing me down when eating!

I always feel positive at the start of the week, with the thought that Weigh on Wednesday is only two days away giving me motivation to glug loads of water and minimise the crap food.

Been walking less as have felt really physically tired this week, so listening to my body and resting more.

The other weight loss-related thing I did over the weekend was input my weekly weighs in a simple graph app, so I can see progress over time.

MirandaWest · 03/10/2022 14:42

@CrimsonAlligator I've found I am like that for motivation and exercise. I've needed to just be disciplined about it and making it the thing I do. Even when I don't really feel like it I know it's just what I am going to do.

SanFranBear · 03/10/2022 17:18

Wow... you lot are just wonderful - thank you all soo much for motivational words and for trying to explain what may be behind my friends remarks. Interesting you've had it happen too, CamoTea - it's so frustrating.

I shall not dwell as I think you're probably all right, one way or another. Its definitely a big change to how it's always been but it's funny how you don't think size comes into friendships... but I guess it does, subconsciously at least (as I don't think my friend meant to be mean). I like your suggestion, LittlePea - I'll challenge if it comes up again.

My cold feels horrid and the cats got to the fish I was defrosting for dinner tonight (love a double fish day!) so might do hotdogs for the kids and some soothing soup for me and my poor throat!

I have an absolute mountain of ironing which I just can't face but will need to be started at some point.. argh!

Agree with you, CrimsonAlligator - RealHousewife deserves a medal for the hard work she puts into this thread over many, many months! Thank you

SlashBeef · 03/10/2022 18:04

Ooh I found you!
I got back in the gym today and I feel like I'm less depressed. I maintained again this week but I'm taking it as a win.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 03/10/2022 18:04

Hello - place marking

LadyWithLapdog · 03/10/2022 18:06

Thank you to the PP who posted a link to some exercises. They were nice, entry level ones, just the motivation I needed.

fallfallfall · 03/10/2022 18:49

i've managed to fit in my 45 minutes of exercise per day and plan on sticking to that even if it's in 15-minute spurts!

welcome to the new peop's :)

SingaporeSlinky · 03/10/2022 20:27

Can I join back in again ladies?
I’ve had various things going on and just not had time to post for a month or two. I’ll weigh in tomorrow but I think I’m around 9st 6 at the moment, up from my lowest of 9st 2. Going on holiday in 3 weeks for half term and would like to get back down again. My problem at the moment is I’ve made the fatal mistake of buying xmas chocs early. And started scoffing them early 😅

Met a friend for a coffee today but we decided to walk rather than sit inside, so ended the day on 23000 steps. Gym tomorrow. So at least I’m not back to square one!

ImALittlePea · 03/10/2022 20:39

Oops. I fell into the chocolate tonight 😬 5 little ones from the celebrations/heroes boxes.

SingaporeSlinky · 03/10/2022 20:44

CamoTeaLaLa I’ve had that happen too. A friend asked me how I’d done it, after losing over a stone, saying she wanted ‘the secret’. When I explained it was 3 months of hard work, logging meals, cutting out snacks, going to gym classes up to 5 days a week etc she basically argued every point. She was too busy to go the gym. Liked her lie ins too much to get up early. She couldn’t change what she ate. She liked going to the pub too much. Just full of excuses, and yet insisting she wanted to lose weight.

TheRealHousewife · 03/10/2022 20:50

Welcome back @SingaporeSlinky lovely to see you! Hide the sabotaging chocolates 👍 Great step count btw👏

Welcome to the October thread @SlashBeef & @Was126orbustandmaybebust 👍😊

Hi @fallfallfall little tweaks here and there will soon see you dropping again 👍

Thank you @SanFranBear and @CrimsonAlligator its very nice of you both to say such kind words ❤️ Hope you feel better soon @SanFranBear . I also have an ironing pile as big as Kilimanjaro… each night I tell myself I’ll tackle it tomorrow 😬. I did a bit last week and going to try to finish it tomorrow.

Anyways bath and early night for me 🥱

Thank you @TheRealHousewife and I echo the thanks to you for the threads. Despite dipping in and out, it’s nice to come on this board and find your threads still going strong and being welcomed.

fallfallfall · 03/10/2022 21:09

yes @TheRealHousewife sticking to 16-8 means supper needs to be on the table
by 5pm.
i've been using 1lb hand weights with the leslie video's, again a great reminder mentioned upthread.

TheRealHousewife · 03/10/2022 21:15

@SingaporeSlinky @fallfallfall these threads have been going about 4 years now 😮. Started with titles such as LOSE 7lb in January and evolved into the LOSE IT! threads we have now. Still miss SunshineCake and I hope she is ok. These threads are what all you lovely ladies make them. So a massive thank you to each and every one of you ❤️

they years seem to have flown by @TheRealHousewife i too hope her and her family are doing well.
it's certainly helpful when i feel alone in this journey to hear so many similar stories and to hear what little thing work for someone or are motivational.
my daughter has been over there so many years now, her little ones are not so little. and this mainly uk based board has helped me feel not quite so far away from her.

milkfromthesleepycow · 04/10/2022 06:31

Welcome back @SingaporeSlinky you'll have to change your name to your next holiday destination!

HouseofHolbein · 04/10/2022 06:32

May I confess that I iron nothing? Makes life so much easier 🤣🤣 I have quite low standards tbh

Right better get dressed for work 😊 I'll try not to eat too much crap today 👍

Gertrude86 · 04/10/2022 06:33

I'm not even sure where my iron is 😄

TheRealHousewife · 04/10/2022 07:10

Good Morning All 😊

@HouseofHolbein Im learning slowly that everything doesn’t need ironing. Most cotton/linen needs some kind of rub over. That said, unless an item has visible creases I no longer iron it. A good shake when out of the washer and a neat fold straight off the line sees most Ts presentable without an iron. 👍

@fallfallfall It’s great to hear that! Thank you again 👍❤️

@SlashBeef 😆… is it under your ironing pile?

Welcome to the thread @Gertrude86 . Increasing your activity like you plan too will help. It will aid in toning you up and I find it can actually knock the edge of your appetite so reduce snacking in between meals.

Menu
Meal 1 - Homemade courgette & potato soup. GF thin.
Meal 2 - Chorizo GF pasta with home made tomato, onion & garlic sauce.
Tea, black coffee and water. Pear. Pecans.

Exercise
Session 1 - Hand weights
Session 2 - Pottering in the garden 😬

Enjoy your day!
