Diet for Christmas challenge

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

I’m not enjoying the heat. I’ve never enjoyed it and dislike intensely being constantly sweaty. The only upside to it this week appears to be that it’s taken the edge off my appetite during the first few days of restarting my diet. I have been stuck on a mini plateau for 3 days but feeling overall less bloated. I will do official weigh in tomorrow with everyone else.

ooh sorry forgot to say - @recklessgran yes, the time has flown by. I joined the other thread in September 2019 so almost 3 years ago! This seems like a lovely group too and I do find the checking in/posting useful. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s updates tomorrow.

Sorry you stayed the same @OhFatty and any others that haven't seen a loss.

How are you dieting? Are you calorie counting of following any plan?

Are you drinking enough water?

The upside to this heat is I've hardly got an appetite yet I'm so bloated and swollen! Not seeing any losses for the past week. Up early again to workout this morning. I'm hoping that just staying consistent will yield some results when the heat dies down 🤔

@christmas2022 Im calorie counting, and have stuck to it rigidly, but I have problems with fluid retention in my feet and ankles and it’s worse when it’s hot. Also I’m having my first period for two years, so that’s just great 🙁. I don’t know if that’s got anything to do with it? It probably has but it’s still disappointing!
I drink at least 3 big glasses of water a day, but I’m going to try to drink more today. My official weigh in is Monday, and it would be nice to lose at least something.

How much have you lost this week @christmas2022 i see you lost 4 last week but can’t see your start weight to work out this weeks. Sorry

I was 170.6 last Sunday so looks like I'm in the gain club!

Completely understand why though I've had a heavy social weekend so expected.

Confident I can reign it in a bit this week.

@christmas2022 a social weekend sounds good though. If this diet is going to be forever (and I’m hoping mine is because I’m 51 and as big as a house), then there has to be wiggle room. I think calories spent doing social things are completely different to ones used up on a packet of biscuits eaten in private so you don’t have to share (and yeah, this was me). You’ll have lost it again next week

I completely agree. I think my plan will be to not be too hard on myself when life happens but make sure I make good choices during the majority of the time in between.

@christmas2022 I eat the same every day. Porridge, miso soup, minestrone soup, 2 chipolatas, a soft boiled egg, pecan nuts, babybel and mixed veg and a protein shake. I think my favourites are the egg and chipolatas.

@OhFatty it's a whopping 2lb gain for me I'm afraid. I'm now 14st 10lbs up from 14st 8lbs last week. I''m wondering if it's partly fluid retention as I've got very swollen ankles and lower legs which I'm putting down to the heat. Also, I have been rubbish food wise this week and about as active as a slug. I'm writing it off and blaming the heat. Fresh start tomorrow along with the rain I hope. Very well done to all you losers!!!!

Oh @recklessgran I feel you. I have the same problem. I’m dreading tomorrows weigh in, as I did a sneaky one yesterday and had stayed the same. It feels so unfair.

we’ve only got a 60% chance of rain here tomorrow. I can’t tell you how much I’m hoping.

@OhFatty thank you for list, I actually lost 1.8lb the first week and then 0.8lb the second week! No worries though it’s not a big deal as I am taking note of it in my diary too. It must be a right pain going through all of the posts so really appreciate it!

reading through all of your recent posts it’s nice to know I’m not alone in the scales not budging. Although I haven’t been brilliant this week, so it’s not a surprise for me that I’m not losing much (if any). My weigh in day is tomorrow so we will see. I shouldn’t make excuses but the building work is becoming stressful now that we have a 3rd of the kitchen that’s useable. I’m definitely stress eating at the end of the day. And this heat isn’t helping!!! I hate it!!!

Sorry, needed a rant! I think we shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves, this prolonged heat we aren’t used to, so of course it’s going to mess with our eating schedule and water retention. Well done all for posting still and staying in the long game!

I’m 69.7. I’ve lost weight due to being signed off with workplace stress due to bullying. I can barely eat :(

@hedgehog. I’m so sorry! I promise I’ll get it right next week. It’s really important - weights not easy to lose, so you need to have it recorded properly. Definitely worth keeping your own records too. I have an entire journal - with drawings and motivational stickers 😂I wish I was joking.

Thank you @SnowyMouse . That was last Mondays weigh in. I don’t think this one will be that good. My feet look like balloons 😢! Roll on autumn

I hope you can take some time for yourself whilst off and maybe get a bit of appetite back.

As well as water intake my priority this week will be to finally get some exercise in now the weather is cooling. Likely to be a few walks.
