Diet for Christmas challenge

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

Likewise @christmas2022. I’m hoping to go for a walk today with the twins in the buggy. It’s been a bit hot here for them, so will be nice to get out with them.

Just weighed and I have lost a grand total of 0.6lb this week, every little helps I guess… 🙄🤣

Yay thank you 😂! So I need to loose ideally 3stone but tiny steps as I can't seem to loose weight very well for some reason. I am eating healthy with some intermittent fasting Thrown in too. I didn't weight this morning but I've been 11st 12 the last time I weighed (1weeek ago)

Morning all. It'a a brand new shiny week and a fresh start for me after my disastrous week 1 and 2lb gain. It's cooler here today and so far I've had only black coffee. I do 16:8 so my eating window is midday to 8.00pm. I'm not going to worry too much this week about calorie counting but I'm going to try to eat all veg, fruit and protein with none of the obvious carbs. I love salad so it will be mainly that with fish or chicken. I have prepped a big bowl of melon and raspberries and have my trusty sugar free jellies in the fridge to snack on if necessary. I hope this will stop me from cutting off chunks of Cathedral City to chomp on at my desk every time I've got a problem to solve. Luckily the remaining mini hot cross bun went stale and emigrated to the bird table. Good riddance to that one - I ate the other eight of them slathered in butter in three days last week in between my healthy low calorie salads. Please tell me I'm not the only one who behaves like this! Keep the faith people - we can do this and thanks @OhFatty for running this thread for us.

By Friday of last week I had lost another pound. I had done a good job of drinking water and avoiding ultra processed food but completely failed on the walking 10,000 steps a day front as it's just too damn hot. I'm actually getting really annoyed with this weather and the fact I am spending the summer in the sitting room as it's the coolest place in our house and rejoicing when I get to go to the office as it has air con!
Since Saturday, I have been staying with relatives and they are feeders. And like carbs. What is really interesting to note is how much more sluggish I feel after main lining sugar & carbs for 48 hours. We're still with them for another few days but I'm moving back to 16:8 and am going to say no to cake etc for the rest of the stay. If the weather breaks as forecast, hopefully I'll be able to move a bit more!

Hey everyone, sorry to jump in but I'm trying to compile a shopping list of healthy food and snacks but I can't think of things as it's been so long since I've really tried to loose weight. What are your 'essential diet items' and sorry if people hate it when people hijack a post 🙈🙈

Hi @tortoiseshellsub I suppose that depends on what you like! I eat quite lot of raw carrots, I like them and they fill a small home between meals. I also eat Greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey, I can't get on board with these overly sweetened 'diet' yogurts. I like salads with chickpeas and sweet potatoes, poached eggs etc, the more protein the better for me, i find it filling. My go to snack is cream cheese on ryvita with a bit of sweet chilli sauce.

Hi everyone, very hectic weekend so just catching up on all the posts. Well done to all who lost! I had a really good week last week and had calories left over everyday but I knew I needed to save some up as I had a birthday party and a wedding to attend at the weekend and didn't want to be miserable. Weighed in this morning and I've maintained but I'm due on today so that usually adds a couple of pounds for me. Wouldn't be the end of the world if I've maintained again after the parties but hoping when the pms bloat goes I might have actually lost something!

@tortoiseshellsub are you calorie counting?

I like to have a little stash of low ish calorie snacks. Ice lollies - the supermarket ‘saver’ range are very low, and are brilliant if you need something sweet after dinner. Also if you like crisps, multi pack skips are 71 calories, and quavers are 86. If you like chocolate, curly wurlys are 97 cals. I’ve heard people say they’re good from the freezer.

I know it’s all junk, but I like to think I can have something nice if I need to.

@OhFatty ( I dunno why I feel like I'm bullying you by typing that 😂🤣) thanks so much. I'm gonna make a conscious effort to calorie count. I'm fasting 20/4 atm which take me a day to get my teeth into it then I enjoy it. I wish I was as fat as I thought I was 10 years ago 😆

Sorry to hear you’re feeling disheartened @Fiftysixthnamechange. It may not seem it now, but all that hard work and healthy eating will pay off. If I’m not seeing the benefits on the scales sometimes I think of other ways it’s benefitting me and that can help. You’ll get there though. Try to stay positive and think of the long game if you can. Good things are on the horizon I’m sure

Dropped off because we had back to back friends here but now I’m even bloody fatter so I need to reign it in. I’m going to stop drinking for a bit as a starting point at least because that’s piling on the pounds. Will do 5:2 this week today and Thursday as well

i don’t have scales thank god but ALL my clothes are mega tight and I look horrible
