Diet for Christmas challenge

OhFatty · 24/07/2022 15:30

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

Great minds @OhFatty

SnowyMouse · 10/08/2022 19:26

I hope you get a whoosh soon @Transformatio !

Onwards and downwards!

SnowyMouse · 10/08/2022 19:43

Those look good, @OhFatty - ocado doesn't have them unfortunately.

TheBatwoman · 10/08/2022 20:07

Could have done with those today. I foolishly attempted a HIIT workout today. Never again in this weather!

OhFatty · 10/08/2022 22:48

@SnowyMouse Im so sorry. Neither did Sainsburys earlier. My daughter lives in Guernsey for her job, but they have Waitrose and Iceland over there. She was so excited to show me so I won’t tell her if we can’t find them!

Morning! Just dropping in to let you know I'm still here. Work is crazy which is why I've been MIA, Not been a great week diet wise due to the work stress. [I hit the kitchen and the biscuit tin/toaster etc .] Aaaaargh. I'm eating 2 healthy meals a day [mainly salad] and then sabotage my efforts with snacking at my desk. Right - I've now got individual bags of popcorn [44 calories] and sugar free jellies in the fridge if I want a sweet fix. In it for the long haUl girls and at this rate it's definitely going to be looooooong! Have a great day all.

christmas2022 · 11/08/2022 07:14

Also still here.

Of my pledges - water / fitness / calories

I am doing ok on my water intake but could do better

Fitness has been non existent- I blame the weather and will try again next week

Calories- I am over on my calories but only very slightly over the course of the week so far so not too hard on myself on that either.

Had a heavy dinner last night so expecting a gain a on the scales this morning.

TheBatwoman · 11/08/2022 08:39

Thanks @OhFatty. Think it was more stupidity than bravery with hindsight!

Keep on going with the pledges @christmas2022 - you got this. Sounds positive overall. It’s a bit hot for the fitness side (unless you have access to a space with AC - if only!)

Good idea with the low cal snack swaps @recklessgran

Fiftysixthnamechange · 11/08/2022 08:39

40 mins tabata workout this morning. I'm pouring sweat and purple...went out for dinner last night, felt guilty but then thought this is not going to be achievable if I can't occasionally go out! Plenty of water today to offset last night's salty food.

TheBatwoman · 11/08/2022 08:41

Well done @Fiftysixthnamechange - good idea to get it in this morning while it’s still cooler.

OhFatty · 11/08/2022 10:24

I had to Google was a tabata workout is @Fiftysixthnamechange- last time I exercised it was at bums, tums and thighs. The world has moved on.

It looks absolutely horrendous - I’d struggle with the warm up, but it says it’s amazing for burning fat. Well done, what s great start to the day.

Hi. Posting daily to keep me focused and maintain the commitment! Another lb down but this will absolutely be water weight. I have tried to drink plenty and keep busy. My DDs (22&17) have been around a lot and their company has stopped any evening boredom eating. Plus the weather seems to take the edge off my appetite. I am fed up of feeling sweaty all the time though.
@Fiftysixthnamechange Well done on the workout ! And yes, I totally agree that we do need to be able to eat out and have a drink occasionally- all things in moderation as they say.
I find that when I am dieting though it has to be at a time when I can concentrate on it. Too many other distractions and not enough time to shop thoughtfully and I tend to default to eating whatever is easy or to hand.
Last night we had chicken bolognaise! It was surprisingly good. I have never used chicken mince before but my older DD had. I just treated it like beef mince. I don’t know how the calories line up with beef but I would say that my portion of bolognaise last night was easily under 400 cal.
@recklessgran and I used to be on another thread a couple of years ago ( 👋 reckless I have name changed) and posters would share recipe ideas or things they had found which were easy, tasty and low cal. I would recommend the Tesco fire pit range stuffed peppers- 128 (?) calorie per half pepper ( I have both 😉 - 2 in a pack) with salad and it’s a really tasty, easy lunch or dinner. I find that they need longer in the oven than suggested though to cook the pepper to a softer consistency which is my preference.
Keep up the great work everyone 👍

SnowyMouse · 11/08/2022 11:41

I like M&S Mediterranean Roasting Vegetables with Basil Dressing (from ocado). 66 kcal per half pack.

Good luck with tomorrow's weigh in, @yearofthefat !

Fiftysixthnamechange · 12/08/2022 09:24

Well my stomach is definitely shrinking, my clothes are still too tight, although not as obscenely so and even my husband said he thought I'd lost weight yet the scales stubbornly refuse to shift....I'm blaming the heat...
another workout this morning, another purple face. In case anyone is interested I do the 'grow with jo' workouts on YouTube. Will attach links to the ones I like if anyone wants them? She doesn't talk much which is her biggest selling point in my eyes!

Stepcount · 12/08/2022 10:33

Another smidgen down. I'm feeling happy that I have managed 4 days without any cravings or feeling hungry but I think the heat has helped with that. No alcohol and therefore no reaching for the crisps with it ! The challenge for me is always in the longer run where you begin to feel deprived and bored with what you eat. I thought I had conquered some of my worst eating habits during my last proper and extended time dieting but lockdowns taught me otherwise. Hopefully if I can get down to a weight I am more comfortable with then it will be more about having better habits in the maintaining phase.
Have a great Friday everyone.

SnowyMouse · 12/08/2022 11:44

Well done on NSVs @Fiftysixthnamechange ! Well done on losing @Stepcount ! I know what you mean re: deprived and bored.

OhFatty · 13/08/2022 12:12

I hope everyone’s having a good week

I only weigh myself on Mondays normally, but last night I dreamed I put in 4 pounds this week, so I weighed myself this morning.

Haven’t put on any weight but I haven’t lost any either. I’m really disappointed.

OP posts:
SnowyMouse · 13/08/2022 14:15

Sorry you got a STS! Maybe you'll lose by Monday? It's too hot for comfort here, trying to resist ice cream.

recklessgran · 13/08/2022 14:39

Waving to @stepcount [although I've no clue who you are!] how lovely to meet up with old friends on here. Was it really 2 years ago ? Crumbs,- how time flies and shamefully I've put on all that I lost on that thread plus some. If and when I get myself under control I clearly need to address the maintenance issue!! I'm currently heavier than I've ever been in my life including when having my 5DD's. Never mind, at least I'm doing something about it and this is a lovely friendly group just like the old one.

TheBatwoman · 13/08/2022 19:54

How’s everyone coping in the warm weather? I actually quite enjoy the hot weather but it’s so hard to avoid my favorite summer treats like ice cream!
