Diet for Christmas challenge

OhFatty · 24/07/2022 15:30

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

Well done @Dashel , 2 lbs is a great drop. You must be very pleased.

LaTangerina · 07/10/2022 13:45

@DasDashel that's brilliant well done on the loss!

LaTangerina · 07/10/2022 13:46

@Dashel I mean

WutheringShites86 · 07/10/2022 21:12

Well done @Dashel, what a great result for you.

I'm not expecting a loss this week either @Stepcount. Still not getting any sleep and now I'm struggling with a stinking cold so really low on energy at the moment.

MuddyBoo · 08/10/2022 07:45

Morning! I've just been catching up on the thread. I've had a hectic week with work and degree which means I haven't exercised and have been grabbing food on the go, which isn't great.

I've really tried hard to watch what I eat these last 2 days so I have half a hope to stick see a loss tomorrow...but its not a sure thing!

Today we are going to Haworth for a brunch and a browse, so will have to watch my calories there. And will try and get some kind of exercise in this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday!

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 08/10/2022 13:35

1lb off for me this week taking me to 2st in total. Really hoped I’d feel more of a difference but think it’s crept off as slowly as it crept on so not been very noticeable.

hoping for 10 more pounds by Christmas which would leave me with 1.5st to tackle next year

WutheringShites86 · 08/10/2022 15:42

I love Haworth @MuddyBoo! (And all things Bronte, as you might guess from my name).

My treat there would be a Fat Rascal from the Vilettte bakery!

That's a fab result @Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday, well done

Dashel · 09/10/2022 08:26

Good morning,

I weighed in at 10st 9lb this morning, when I started posting on here I was 10st 11 and when I started loosing I was 11st 3. I have also had a two week all inclusive in this time.

I still want to get to 9st 7 so a long way to go.

I managed to get to 21k steps yesterday and spend hours making cement and so a very active day! I’m classing that as weights 😆

I need to get out of bed and onto my spin bike

@Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday that is an incredible loss congratulations. Have others said that they can see the difference? Are you wearing baggy clothes and that hides the loss? I take photos so I can compare.

@MuddyBoo I hope that you had a great time there, it’s on my list of places to visit.

That you for all the positive messages. I really need this space to air my thoughts and log progress and get support and encouragement, so all kind words really mean a lot. DH is reasonably onboard but doesn’t really talk about it that much. He just gets on with it, but I think weight loss can be easier for blokes

MuddyBoo · 09/10/2022 08:34

I'm at 10st5 this morning. 1lb down this week, so only a small loss but at least going in the right direction.

Haworth was wonderful yesterday, they had a steampunk day so there lots of people dressed up in costumes.

@Dashel I rely on this thread too for talking support. I'm careful about who I talk to about weight loss in real life, its such a personal issue and you don't know what other people are dealing with themselves. But here is a great supportive place to be honest and open. I don't know if I'd still be going for it if it wasn't for this thread

Stepcount · 09/10/2022 15:24

Only a very small loss this week -0.4. Still not broken through into the next stone down so hoping that happens this week for definite. @OhFatty for any weekly update you might do. Thankfully I still feel on course for shifting a few more lbs before Xmas- 11 weeks today Christmas Day.
well done everyone on the losses logged so far. 👍💪🏻

WutheringShites86 · 09/10/2022 16:00

No change for me, so still 15st @OhFatty. I've just come on my period though and I find that always adds a couple of pounds so might weigh again in a couple of days

DrMadelineMaxwell · 09/10/2022 21:01

I've lost 2.5lb this week, 11.5 since mid Aug.

Another 3 weeks until I'm on holiday with DD, then 7 weeks up til Christmas. I've been a bit up and down some weeks, but still plodding on.

Really really late today, sorry

I hope you feel better soon @TheBatwoman

youve done really well @Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday! You can definitely lose another 10lbs before Christmas

@stepcount hoe are you getting on with the new job?

I think any change to our routines can upset our weight loss. People staying, a new job or busy time at work, not feeling well, and definitely periods. I guess the only thing to fo is push through it and not be disillusioned by the scales not moving (I’m completely ruled by the scales, so can’t talk!)

@SnowyMouse snd @recklessgran i hope you’re both ok. You’ve been missed xx

wishing everyone else a great week 😀

Wow @OhFatty, that's incredible! Well done 👏

TheBatwoman · 10/10/2022 19:04

Thank you @OhFatty. unfortunately we’ve all had COVID, so we’ve all been quite unwell (never rains as they say!). Nothing like dealing with two poorly little ones when you’re not well yourselves!

Well done on your fantastic progress @OhFatty - I’m ever so pleased for you. That’s a great result!

Dashel · 10/10/2022 20:00

@OhFatty that is amazing! You must have put a lot of effort in!

@TheBatwoman i hope you are all full recovered now.

Im going to bit short of my steps today, I will probably hit 11k but I did do a spin class and a 10 min dumb bell workout, so not too bad. I have really struggled today so I’m quite impressed I did anything at all.

I managed to put back on the pound lost yesterday 😂 hopefully it will go away again soon!

Dashel · 11/10/2022 21:18

Evening all,

I hope everyone has had a good day.

I am still not feeling it and just feeling a bit meh but ravenous as well. I think I probably get SAD as I struggle through Winters. However I can’t give up now or I will never get to where I want to be by May.

Tbh I didn’t think I would do too well at all, but I managed to drag my butt up to do a Shabam 30 min class at lunchtime and go for a walk after work. I have finished at 15.5k steps which I am very pleased about. No weights though so I need to be a bit more disciplined. Food wise wasn’t on plan but I didn’t have anything too bad, some yoghurt and popcorn as extras.

Stepcount · 13/10/2022 07:52

Hi everyone, no real update from me but checking in to help keep my focus. The combination of the new job and my sister visiting has not been the easiest of times to navigate with food choices. I have been stuck on a plateau for several days. Not helped by a bowl of treat size chocolate bars 😂 I feel positive though and am happy that there has been no gain. Once my sister goes ( tomorrow) I will have more time to sort better food choices. I just need to crack the eating pattern as my new role has me out of the house until 8pm. I’m a bit of a ‘reward’ eater and my consumption is rarely about true hunger. I need to work out if eating my biggest meal at 3pm and only a snack at 8pm brings better results. Good luck to everyone still plugging away 💪🏻

MuddyBoo · 13/10/2022 09:07

Morning, I don't really have a proper update either. I've been leaving the house really early for my uni lessons and not weighing in the morning so I'm not sure how I'm doing.

Also it's my birthday today and treats keep on being sent my way.

But on the positive side, I went clothes shopping with my mum and actually didn't hate how I looked in the mirror and bought an outfit that makes me feel good.

Congratulations on your loss @OhFatty I'm genuinely so pleased for you! May the good times continue!

christmas2022 · 13/10/2022 09:11

Hi all

I am still lurking 👀 and will catch up properly soon.

I'm following a loose plan at the moment but will try to be more consistent.

Dashel · 13/10/2022 09:39

Happy birthday @MuddyBoo I hope that you have a good day, I am glad that the clothes shopping went well. If you get too many non perishable treats and aren’t good with temptation then you could think about putting some in a food bank. What has really helped us, is to put treats in a box in the bottom of the guest wardrobe and not keeping them in the kitchen where we can see them. Daft as it sounds they aren’t visible when I open the cupboards so I don’t miss them.

Yesterday wasn’t great, I only got in 9k steps and no proper exercise, but I was busy collecting a set of heavier weights and a Nordic Track elliptical trainer with DH. Then had to get them into the house. It was a long day as the elliptical was an hour each way, but good Facebook bargains. I weighed in at 10st 8 yesterday but due to sandwiches at lunchtime and a vegan sausage sandwich for dinner I was 10st 9 again this morning. My weight fluctuates a bit but the trend is definitely going down 🤩

We managed a spin class early this morning so now need to get my steps in and maybe some weights.

OhFatty · 13/10/2022 10:21

Happy Birthday @MuddyBoo!!! I’m so pleased for you about the shopping trip going well. That’s a huuuuge thing

@Dashel the food bank is a good call for things you might not want @MuddyBoo They're really suffering, with less donations because people are struggling, and more people needing them. I don’t know, but I’d think/hope they might keep back boxes of chocolates etc to give families at Christmas.

@Dashel don’t be hard on yourself!! 9000 steps is great, and all your new (to you) exercise equipment is going to be a godsend! It’s amazing what bargains you can get on marketplace. I’ve only just discovered it! My friend bought a set of kitchen cupboards for £100 as she wanted to make a craft room in her converted garage. When they went to collect it was a new build house, and the owners didn’t like the kitchen, so were replacing it. They hadn’t even moved in so the kitchen was brand new! They even included the integrated fridge and dishwasher so my friend ended up replacing her own kitchen. Best bargain ever!!
