Diet for Christmas challenge

OhFatty · 24/07/2022 15:30

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

@christmas2022 thank you for the support and advice. Yes, I am trying to minimise the evening snacking and smaller, less calorific treats is certainly the way to go. I think it’s breaking the habit and mindset that these things are needed for me to have an enjoyable time.
Feeling motivated this morning though as I have hit 7lbs loss in just under 3 weeks (I have a lot to lose). I managed more water yesterday so going to try and keep that up as much as possible when I don’t need to be out and about.
I have the family party tomorrow that was my original target day to have lost some weight by. I will log my Sunday weigh in before I go 😂👍

Dashel · 27/08/2022 20:33

@TheBatwoman thank you for that chart. I think food is such an easy and cheap reward or comfort that it’s what we automatically turn to. Unfortunately the sorts of food we reward ourselves with don’t tend to be a good reward for our health.

I did a HIIT class before I started my DIY this morning so really pleased with that and have avoided all the normal bank holiday treats. I’m at 15.5k steps. I was pretty good yesterday but put on a pound overnight, but that’s the joy of daily weighing.

The plan for tomorrow is to do my weights and get my steps and continue with the food plan. Breakfast and lunch are already prepped so just need to decide on dinner.

@Stepcount that is great to loose so much, I hope you feel better for it and have a great time at the party.

MuddyBoo · 28/08/2022 07:17

Morning! My Sunday weigh in is 11st, so no change for me this week.

I'd managed to dip to 10st12 midweek but then crept up again.

I think there's nothing for it but to try harder. I may have to start running again which I grow to enjoy but have to do a week of hating it first.

But positives: had friends round for dinner last night and I stuck to salad and I didn't drink either pop or alcohol.

Wishing everyone well who is weighing in today

MH101 · 28/08/2022 08:00

A maintain isn't too bad @MuddyBoo and much better than putting on. Encouraging to see your weight dipped in the week so likely to get back there during the next.

Are you getting enough fibre?

A loss for me but can't remember what I was last week. Think this is a couple of pound.

recklessgran · 28/08/2022 10:08

Morning All. Today's weigh in is 14st 8lbs so that's 1.5lbs off for me. I haven't been particularly focused but have been running the stairs every time I'm tempted to head to the kitchen for a snack. I am also pacing up and down when fielding phone calls - every little helps! To be honest this hasn't really stopped the snacking but it at least improves my pathetic efforts to exercise more. I've been madly busy with work but have been reading everyone's posts and am in awe of all the losses and motivation here. I'm going to try to focus more and post more in the forthcoming week as perhaps some accountability will help me to keep on track. Tomorrow will be a bit dangerous foodwise for me as we are out for lunch with family and the place we are going to has amazing, huge and extremely calorific cake. The scrummy menu doesn't lend itself to weight loss. Will try to behave and exercise damage limitation.

WutheringShites86 · 28/08/2022 10:38

Morning All! @OhFatty for the list - weighed in at 15st 2lb today so a 1lb loss this week, 5lb off overall.

Had hoped for a bit more if I'm honest but I do feel quite bloated today so maybe that's showing on the scales.

SnowyMouse · 28/08/2022 11:09

Today I weighed in at 12 stone, which is 2 lb gain this week (28 August), 2.75 lbs loss overall. Sad

Sorry forgot to tag.

christmas2022 · 28/08/2022 12:50

@SnowyMouse Sorry to hear you've had a gain, was that expected? Any plans for the next week or anything that may get in the way of you having a great week?

SnowyMouse · 28/08/2022 13:00

It was expected, I've overeaten this week. I'm planning on getting back to it today.

Stepcount · 28/08/2022 14:42

checking in @OhFatty - 3.4lbs down this week, very happy with that.

well done everyone!
@christmas2022 it was 3lbs you lost this week not 2. 🎉

Hello new people. Dashel I didn’t see how much you want to lose but I can add it next week if you like?

I absolutely love the idea of non food rewards. I’m definitely going to do something like that, although they need to be low cost!

My daughter has been sending me a postcard for every half stone I lose (started dieting in June) I’ve got 5 now. I don’t know what I’m going to do with them, but they make me happy. I think she gets them in Paperchase.

Really sorry to hear that @WheelofLife - I’ve been through similar, so can empathise. Hope things start looking up for you soon Flowers

Thank you, and thank you @OhFatty and @christmas2022

I’m still off sick with stress and there’s an ongoing investigation. I’ll come back to thread when/if all this gets resolved. It’s all a bit messy just now x

ohffsomg · 28/08/2022 22:35

@recklessgran how was your lunch? Much damage limitation needed?

OhFatty · 28/08/2022 23:03

@WheelofLife Im so sorry you’re going through this

You're welcome back whenever you’re ready. I’ll still be plodding on here next year. I think dieting is 95% having you’re head in the right place, and you can’t expect to get anywhere with what you’re going through. I can take you off next weeks list if you like, so it doesn’t keep tagging you, or leave you as a reminder that we’re all on your side. It’s up to you xx

recklessgran · 28/08/2022 23:08

Ha! Ha! @ohffsomg the lovely lunch is tomorrow so I'll let you know. It will be bad I think. I'm pretty sure they do an omelette so I hope I'm going to go for that with some salad whilst everybody else has paninis and chips no doubt. The question is - can I resist the cake afterwards? I'm going to try really hard girls!

TheBatwoman · 29/08/2022 06:34

Well done everyone - it’s been very motivational to read about our progress (both on and off the scale).

My weigh in update for this week is -2lbs for the records please @OhFatty. That is a total of -11lbs since the start of the thread thanks to everyone’s support, thank you (my first two weeks results -3lbs, +2lbs aren’t on the list, as I forgot to put them in lbs on the original posts sorry).

TheBatwoman · 29/08/2022 06:39

Also I love the postcards @OhFatty - that is so thoughtful. I imagine that’s a great non-food reward or motivation. It’s great to have that support from your daughter too.

My twins are only 11 months, so the most supportive thing they’ve managed so far is to eat half of my food, so I can’t, and crawl off, so I have to chase them!

MuddyBoo · 29/08/2022 08:02

Monday morning and a fresh week! Hoping good things for you all.

@OhFatty those postcards are excellent! What a lovely way to celebrate your progress

Weighed again this morning and I've dropped suddenly from 11st yesterday to 10st11 today. Which is a bit of a boost to the start of my week.

Going to have to be careful today because seeing friends tonight and having a takeaway. And going for a walk with parents during the day which will mean stopping at a pub midway. I'm already hoping the pub will have a soup on.
