Diet for Christmas challenge

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

Morning all. I weighed and am the heaviest I have ever been. Want to lose 11kg (which I believe is 24lb) by Christmas so need to be on it. Am tracking my food in the Fitbit app and my Fitbit which hasn’t been worn in a long time is charging and updating. It needs a new strap so have ordered one to arrive tomorrow. Going for a run this evening.

@DreamingofItaly2023 I too am the heaviest ive ever been ( that includes being 9mth pregnant twice) I would like to loose 35lbs for Christmas. We can and will do this! I'm actually excited to get stuck in with you girls. Good on you for going for a run!!!!!

Yes I am heavier than I was at full term tortoise :( I piled the weight on when it turned out that DS didn’t sleep and cried all the time. I lived off sugar. He is 6 now and I just keep creeping up.

Let’s do this!

Decided to stop feeling sorry for myself because what's the alternative? Keep eating crap, piling on more weight, buying bigger clothes? I know what it feels like to fail and I'm not going back there. Did a 30 min dumbell workout and a 30 min power walk instead and got the fuck over myself. I know what I have to do!

@Fiftysixthnamechange bloody love that attitude!!!!! I'm the same, dieting isn't easy but being fat and wearing horrible clothes is worse. I'm fasting until 1pm then I'm having my salad! I'm keeping my face out of the fridge and staying busy!

I’m disappointed with how slowly things are going for me too. I am hoping that now the heat has subsided I will be able to increase my activity a little. I am down a small amount this morning, at least it’s something after plateauing for several days. The weekend and being away with my DDs for a mini break meant a few extra calories/different meals and alcohol, in moderation. Keeping motivated and on track is crucial for me because if I don’t see results I can easily think what’s the point ? So I need to have a good couple of days now and hopefully a more significant/encouraging drop. 🙏🏻

I find it hard in the hot weather step as all I want is to lounge on the sofa eating ice cream!

run didn’t work out yesterday as a member of the running group fell so I walked them home. Went this morning instead so feeling virtuous right now. There is a big bar of galaxy chocolate in the fridge so I need to be strong.

Yeah I had my first bad diet day since starting yesterday. Not terrible, but not good. No point in dwelling really I guess. Today is a new day. Will make it a better one.

Well according to the scales this morning I have somehow gained 3 pounds overnight...yet today I'm wearing a dress that 3 weeks ago I couldn't fasten up so I'm not sure what the hell is going on!

Ah! Is this where we all wish we took those initial measurements so we can remeasure when the scales aren't moving and hopefully be encouraged that inches are being lost?!

Hello, please may I join you?

I got back from our holidays yesterday and I'm desperate to tackle my weight gain that has been creeping up and up for awhile now. So many of my clothes just no longer fit.

I'd love to be 30lbs lighter by Christmas.

Plan for now is to:
Cut out junk food snacks
Smaller portions
No more Coke (don't drink tea or coffee so use Coke to pep me up whenever I'm tired)
Only alcohol at the weekend
20 min of some kind of exercise every day

Good luck muddy. The NHS advice is to wean off caffeinated drinks as the side effects of cold turkey are horrible (I know from experience) so if I were you I would reduce the coke until you don’t need the caffeine :)

I had an update drafted but forgot to send 🫣! I’m 5lbs down which is not amazing but great considering we’ve been away a lot and I’ve been eating a lot of crisps and chocolate on picnics. I’m back now so it should be easier. I’m planning to try and stick to 3 meals a day and only snack on fruit. I need to stop eating bread as that triggers me to overeat so I’m trying to plan all my meals in advance.

Well done @Tayegete ! I think 5lbs is great for being away on holiday.

I was down to drinking one glass of Coke a day but now I'm trying to not drink it daily.

Yesterday was a good start. Only snack was a packet of quavers that DD put in my hands whilst she was trying to be nice. Also went for an hour long walk in the evening.

Today I'm taking DD into town for her covid vaccine so will have to resist picking up treats on the high street!

A second bad day for me yesterday, but determined not to turn it into a bad week. Twins have spent most of the past two days screaming, so it’s been hard to focus on much else. Sadly my OH did dinner last night and it was far from healthy. Here’s hoping for a better day today! Let’s do this :)
