Precious thread is here ... Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now .. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4517125-louise-parker-method-anyone-i-know-it-s-a-bit-old-fashioned-now

Just a place to chat about the method, the ups and downs and how it works etc.

I personally have just completed the first 6 week Transform phase and have lost 18 lbs. Not quite 'transformed' yet but on my way Grin

@strawberrybarn just put it behind you now. And I agree - I rarely feel hunger but I've definitely had the odd hungry day. I'm working hard on not thinking in terms of 'days on and days off' so try and see it as you just ate out of the circle yesterday and you enjoyed it but now you're back to eating for your health

HardRockOwl · 01/07/2022 19:04

@strawberrybarn oh and the gain won't be a real one so just double down and carry on. I've got on the scales today and I'm a lb up which I know is just a fluctuation which happens regularly but it does make me cross and I then have to work mentally to just carry on as normal

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 01/07/2022 19:05

It's the Forest Feast mango and I stupidly bought 6 bags from Amazon. It's quite pricey yes ... about £4 a bag or so

Thanks @HardRockOwl, I don't know if I would have stuck to this if it wasn't for the accountability and support on this thread. I know I've not always been in the circle over the past 5w, but this is such a long road for me, that it needs to be manageable and I need to be able to step out occasionally, so I don't feel too deprived!

Today's food:-

B griddled nectarines & pecan with vanilla ricotta yoghurt
S None
L 3 x sliced boiled eggs on one slice of buttered low carb rye bread with mayo. 5 x strawberries
S cubes of Double Gloucester cheese & handful of mixed nuts
T my young teen son made me (with some help) easy chicken curry from BBC Good Food - it was so tasty! He had his with basmati rice and I just had a portion of curry

strawberrybarn · 01/07/2022 22:59

Sorry @Megasaur5keeper, thanks for the support too! And the cabbage recipe! I hope you feel more rested tomorrow (although if you're anything like me, you'll go through life in a permanent knackered state!).

TheWreathLady · 02/07/2022 11:48

Hi everyone
Slinking back in with an update. Sooo, I started the plan back at the beginning of March, so long ago! I wasn’t technically overweight but felt that for me I was heavier than I should be. Menopause hasn’t helped so I just wanted to shed a few pounds/inches. It’s been very slow but very steady. Started at 11st 10 and today I’ve weighed in at 10 st 12! Couple of inches off waist and tummy too. I have to say, having Covid this week has diminished my appetite 😂. I’ve carried on with my usual bircher breakfast, usually eggs for lunch and a simple dinner -sausage and mash or similar comfort food. Not felt like snacking so calorie intake down but I haven’t moved much either. Last night the only thing I fancied was a fish and chip takeaway and it was delicious!
My aim was to feel my best in a bikini in August- not long now!
Well done everyone still dancing in and out of the circle. Love reading your updates.

Megasaur5keeper · 03/07/2022 08:37

Morning everyone!
Today was my weigh in and conclusion of round 1 transform. I'm delighted to have found a "tribe" - like @strawberrybarn says the accountability and support is brilliant.

I'm 6lb down since last weighing (I do every 2 weeks based on the suggestion in lfl about not weighing too often) so 1 stone down for round one. 11st today. I'm going to measure with a tape today too- wish I had before!

Yesterday food was

B- pancakes and ricotta cream and cherry compote (fancy name for frozen cherries slung in a pan for 2 mins...)

S- cream cheese crisp breads and strawberries

L- highly disappointing avocado and poached eggs on toast in a m +s cafe to the soundtrack of my child being bodily removed by her dad mid tantrum (sorry anyone in M+s gyle edinburgh yesterday)

No afternoon snack as I feel asleep.

T- prada chicken from lfl

And I ate some cheese and an apple for supper.

Not too bad all in all but today my breakfast was ibuprofen and I'm having a smoothie as my throat is too sore to eat solid food!

Family for my 4 year olds birthday today - hope everyone else is having a nice morning.

strawberrybarn · 03/07/2022 09:14

@Megasaur5keeper, you are near me! We live down the coast on the other side of the city (EL). I love hearing all the LP recipes you are making! I'm definitely going to try out some new LP recipes when I am back from my holiday. Congratulations on your 1 stone loss, that's absolutely ace! How much more would you like to lose? Enjoy your special day I hope you start to feel a bit better soon (if not, do a COVID test!).

@TheWreathLady, that's a brilliant loss, well done! I hope the COVID is disappearing! Where and when do you go on holiday?

My food yesterday:-

B 2 x homemade keto cheese & almond mini muffins with butter & peanut butter
S apple (I meant to have some nuts too but forgot)
L None (planned BLT using romaine lettuce wraps but day worked out differently)
S 2 x strawberries & a handful of grated cheese from making kids' spag bol tea
T salsa verde salmon & smashed chickpea salad (BBC Good Food) made for me by my friend - this was so tasty. We had a lovely evening in her summerhouse and snacked on pork crackling. I can't tell you how nice it was to be cooked for

Off to make shakshuka!

strawberrybarn · 03/07/2022 09:16

Megasaur5keeper · 03/07/2022 17:08

About 1 St more I think. I'm aiming for a comfortable size 10. Did a covid test yesterday which was negative; it was my first thought too!

Ah EL is nice. Good beaches.

strawberrybarn · 03/07/2022 21:08

1st sounds definitely do-able @Megasaur5keeper!

My food for today:-
B homemade shakshuka (see pic) with slice of buttered wholemeal toast
S 150g raspberries
L BLT (bacon, tomato and mayo on romaine lettuce - messy but so good!)
S None, might have an apple & peanut butter later
T homemade chilli with ALL the toppings. I made this far far too spicy, I could barely eat it so I had cheese, avo, homemade salsa and sour cream to cool down my mouth!

I've not drunk enough water today, we are busy packing and charging devices and printing documents (travel early Wednesday) so I'm all out of my routines!

HardRockOwl · 03/07/2022 21:44

Evening all!

Food times for today

Porridge with chia seeds, pear, raspberries and pumpkin seeds * yogurt

Fruit salad

Halloumi burger with salad on a wholemeal roll

Quinoa with hummus and salad

I'm not expecting a loss tomorrow tbh. I think I'm at a stage where it's a little harder and I need to step up my exercise and tighten up a little on food

I've added in a walk every day this week on top of my daily swim. So now I'm swimming 1000 metres most days and walking 4K every day so hopefully this will keep things moving in the right direction

Oh dear. Looks like Louise Parker method is no more and her company didn't survive covid etc

I can see why in some ways - I idly looked into the cost, thinking that if it was a grand or two, I'd bite the bullet. It was something like £12,000 for a bespoke programme

So, I guess this is the first thing that her clients would look to cut back on a little

Anyway - we will still fly the flag over here and I sincerely hope she bounces back

Oh dear, that's really sad, I hope too many people didn't lose their jobs. And I didn't know Mr P was out of the picture too.

After my holidays, I need a bit of a reset too @HardRockOwl. I have a big event I'd like to lose quite of a bit of weight for in late September. So when I come home, I've got 10 weeks exactly. I need to be stricter on treat days, peanut butter consumption, portion sizes, dark chocolate consumption and more. I am losing but it is really slow and I want to be more consistent & faster! I've lost around 3kg (6-7lbs) in 5w and I would have liked that to be more like 4.5-5.5kg (10-12lbs). I have always previously lost (& gained!) weight quickly, but post 40, it is so much slower and harder. I want to up my exercise too but as I'm so heavy, I find running or anything aerobic, tricky.

I have so many clothes to try and diet into too! I don't know if this is just my weird compulsion, but I have so many lovely clothes I've bought over the past year in a size smaller (18) to diet into and I'm determined to wear them before Christmas! I've hovered around a 20-24 for so long but the clothes are so much nicer when I can buy a more 'normal' size and not a plus size. I buy mainly from charity shops or 70% off sales usually so they are not expensive. Now I've read that back, it does sound a bit like I'm punishing myself, buying lovely things I can't wear, but it does help. So I'll keep that Oliver Bonas dress, Joules tunic and Anthropologie jumper at the forefront of my mind over the next few months! Then I can look towards donating them back **to charity shops while I motor towards a 16 or 14!

Sometimes the reality of the amount of weight I have still to lose is overwhelming :-(

Gensola · 04/07/2022 09:30

That’s really sad about LP, awful to lose your marriage and your job all at once. Surely she will bounce back though with all her contacts etc?
we are off to Greece today for 2 weeks. Hoping to maintain my weight loss.

HardRockOwl · 04/07/2022 09:34

@strawberrybarn I'm the same as you in terms of being just a little bit slack on the eating front. I've now finished my chocolate covered mango packs so I shan't buy them again.

I'm back to basics today with no stepping out of the circle. I don't take big strides out of it. It I've been a bit half arsed and that won't do.

I know what you mean when it seems like your ultimate target is a way off so I think all you can do is try and break it down because otherwise it does seem overwhelming. So maybe consider setting a target of 7 lbs off by the 1st august? Re exercise .. well, I hate it all and won't do anything cardio related because I just hate it. So my compromise is swimming and walking. Still hate it all but I can listen to a book or podcast whilst doing it so that helps a lot.

I pay a lot of money to be a member of a private spa with a very low membership and I do this deliberately to make it painless for me to go .. they provide robes and towels and there's never more than 2 other people in the pool etc. I just wouldn't go otherwise so it's worth the investment for me. Could you consider an exercise a bit outside of the box? Download a bestselling gripping book, just walk for 20 mins whilst listening. Worth considering

@strawberrybarn I also have been guilty of having a wardrobe full of clothes I can't fit into! I'd like to be a size 10 I think. A proper size 10. I'm currently a chubby size 12 Grin

You may have read on a previous thread, but I bought a coat in a size 12 in March and well ... I could barely wedge my arms in it. So so tight but I love the coat and it wasn't available to buy in any other size. So I did that thing you should never do ... kept it to slim into! And I did. I managed it. It's now wearable and comfortable so I know I CAN do this.

I'd like to come away from what I wear I think. I live in stuff from Scamp & Dude, Hush and Nike. In my head, I'm like a cool instagrammer. In reality, I'm not. And all the above stuff has a nice bit of stretch to it so I can go up and down a size and it still fits 😀

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 04/07/2022 09:42

@Gensola you'd think so wouldn't you? It's so horrible for her so I hope she does. With such a premium priced business though, I can see where she's maybe struggled recently. I can see her coming back as more of a one woman band I think.

Weigh in number 534 today!

I've stayed the same this week. Still at a 2 stone loss. So onwards and downwards for next week

Oh yes I saw that on Louise P’s Instagram today too. So very sad. I did get the vibe from her posts going back a few months that she may have had a split and was just with her daughters. I hope she manages to relaunch something.

strawberrybarn · 04/07/2022 18:57

My food for today:-
B 2 x homemade keto cheese & almond mini muffins with butter & peanut butter
S None
L bacon, 1/2 avo & homemade salsa on romaine lettuce leaves
S Babybel & handful of mixed nuts
T roast chicken, mashed needs with butter, brocolli & green beans

Thanks for the post @HardRockOwl, something to ruminate on while I'm away!

Megasaur5keeper · 04/07/2022 19:10

It is sad news about the Practice, and all the employees there. And the three girls.

It was very expensive- I vaguely thought about a group zoom based programme which was being advertised (presumably to try to weather covid) and even that was 4k.

@strawberrybarn - would pilates be an option? It's non aerobic but I wouldn't say it's an easy option just because it's not high impact..

Yesterday-
B- bircher I think.
L- what I could describe as antipasti and crudités and dips, some berries and nectarines, Colin caterpillar cake and a small handful of crisps. This was kind of a worth it/celebration with my family and a massive step forward from when I was eating 150g of crisps a go...
T- steak and slaw,

Today- bircher with berries
S- aubergine dip and crudités
L- mackerel, orange and beetroot salad
S- cherries and parmesan
T- ragu in a pepper, slaw and asparagus

Not feeling like exercise, and I'm short on My step count. Oh dear. This is a week when I'm looking at the work diary and going aaarg so I feel I might be moderately out of circle for exercise. We shall see.

@HardRockOwl - cool about coat. I was partly motivated by needing back in to smart clothes for work and feeling guilty about things I loved and no longer fit. Love scamp and dude ...

strawberrybarn · 05/07/2022 07:40

Just popping by to say that I lost 0.9kg/2lbs this week. My total weight loss for this initial 5 week phase (only doing 5w initially due to booked holiday) is 3.6kg/8lbs! I'll take that!

I packed my suitcase yesterday (leave overnight tonight) and then weighed it - around 15-16kg. This is approx. the amount of weight I have lost over last 7-8 months, 5w on LPM + 6m on LCHF. I could barely lift the case onto the the scales. It was sobering and absolutely staggering to realise what it must have been like dragging all that extra weight around and how freeing it is to lose weight! I still can't believe I weighed as much as I do now PLUS that heavy suitcase.
