Precious thread is here ... Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now .. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4517125-louise-parker-method-anyone-i-know-it-s-a-bit-old-fashioned-now

Just a place to chat about the method, the ups and downs and how it works etc.

I personally have just completed the first 6 week Transform phase and have lost 18 lbs. Not quite 'transformed' yet but on my way Grin

@HardRockOwl haha that's what I spent pregnancy doing... and put on FIVE STONE... hence the severe need to get my head in the game now! I'm going to be here for bloody ages.

GoodNutButters · 09/05/2022 18:59

@florianfortescue nice work! I'm 10 weeks postpartum and breastfeeding too so similar to you.

This week I am trying to go on daily walks with the baby to try to get to 10k steps and do a few postnatal exercise videos on YouTube. That's about the limits of my ambition!

Sounds like a good plan! I walked into town and back today, didn't track my steps but I reckon it must be about 10k steps. That'll have to do for now. Pushing the buggy makes it feel like an upper body workout too Grin

florianfortescue · 09/05/2022 20:31

Yes the initial "weightless" feeling I had after offloading a 9lb baby and all the trimmings has sadly dissipated now and I'm left with a wardrobe of clothes I can't wear and an overhanging belly. Loving the motivation to get dieting again. LP's style of writing is very funny and engaging isn't it.

One bizarre side effect of the past couple of days is I keep getting the hiccups. Not sure why! It does often happy when I get hungry though.

Going to try the carrot cake Bircher tomorrow.

Firsteatthefrog · 09/05/2022 21:13

Thanks for the new thread!

Day 2 done here,
B. Yoghurt and berry compote
S. Monkey Toast
L. Chicken breast and roast veg
S. Oatcakes and peanut butter
D. Curried cod and lentils

I think I'm a bit hungry though that might just be the habit I have of eating constantly until I go to bed and usually sloshing in a glass or 2 of wine while I'm at it.

The weight losses are really inspiring. I would dearly love to be 18lbs down by mid June!

HardRockOwl · 10/05/2022 11:55

@Firsteatthefrog you'll do it! That looks like a great menu. A small tip I'd suggest - and it's just that, a tip. With no science behind it!

Re snacks ... if you have a carb based snack, try and make the other non carb based. So if you have the monkey bread, try and avoid the oat cakes in the afternoon. I found my losses were better when I had say, oat cakes first snack and then mixed nuts later or a little cheese with fruit.

Hope that makes sense. It may not make any difference whatsoever but just thought I'd throw it in for consideration

Morning all

Feeling tired today but I've done my swimming and then thought, fuck it, I'm going to get back into bed and work. So we did. Minus the working bit 😅

Had a nice orange 🍊 and raspberry bircher for breakfast (a GOOD navel orange of course!) and I'm just having the Mexican hot chocolate for my first snack. I went super easy of the cayenne pepper and it's just nicely warming as opposed to hideously spicy - so I recommend

GoodNutButters · 10/05/2022 14:30

I had the peaches and vanilla cream for breakfast. Delicious. Rarely have I felt more like a mum with her shit together than when I was toasting peaches first thing this morning 😂

florianfortescue · 10/05/2022 14:38

Nice work @GoodNutButters !

I ended up eating an entire pack of oatcakes after dinner last night because I was still ravenous but luckily it doesn't seem to have affected my weight loss – I'm another pound down today so down to 11 stone for the first time in quite a while!

Today:
B 2 scrambled eggs on a piece of toast, cappuccino
L nutty whole food salad from M&S with some cooked prawns
D chicken and chorizo stew from the book

Not sure what snacks I'll have yet. Probably an apple with PB and some oatcakes at some point.

I have definitely found this too, on days when I have two lots of carbs (even GOOD WHOLEMEAL carbs) I don't tend to lose.

HardRockOwl · 10/05/2022 17:39

Food times for today ..

Raspberry + orange bircher with strawberries

Mexican hot chocolate

Halloumi + salad in oat roll

Mixed nuts + banana

Mozzarella ball, salad leaves, balsamic vinegar + pumpkin seeds

OP posts:
NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain · 10/05/2022 17:41

Food today:

B: usual Greek yoghurt + nuts, seeds, blueberries

S: 2 Ryvita with almond butter and raspberries. Kinda like a sandwich

L: falafels, hummus and salad

S: red berry smoothie

D: roast beef with cabbage and caulimash

I feel full, I feel so energetic and I'm losing at least a pound a week .. but I don't think my dinners are dainty though Blush Any tips on that??

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain · 10/05/2022 17:42

@HardRockOwl where do you find your oat rolls?

HardRockOwl · 10/05/2022 17:48

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain M & S. they're delicious!

Does anybody have a Fitbit and want to be Fitbit friends? Trying to find watts to make sure I stay on track

blardyfeck · 10/05/2022 19:28

Sorry, I have a Garmin.

Another good day for me, day 4, which is quite the record 😁
B carrot and apple bircher
L goats cheese and beetroot salad
S apple
D almond cod (with salad and not veg)

I'm off to the shop to buy more yogurt for breakfast!

Firsteatthefrog · 10/05/2022 21:45

Hi all! Day 3
Thanks for the advice about the snacks, that does make sense. I do like the idea of cheese. Pity it has to be a delicate portion! I’m not sure how well I’ll manage that!
Today’s food

B Fit fry up - yum
S Monkey toast
L (well really dinner as eaten at dinner time) salmon traybake with asparagus and artichoke

I’m not hungry! I’m missing a snac and a main meal today but I feel quite full. Bizarre.

Sorry if there are typos - typing on my phone and can’t find my glasses!

chloechloe · 10/05/2022 22:21

Thanks for the new thread @HardRockOwl , reporting for duty!

Things are a bit busy here somehow so have been reading but not posting.

Week 2 weigh in.
2 1/5 lbs down this week. The tape measure has also moved - 2cm off my thighs and waist but my chunky hips are the same.

So that’s a 4 lb loss in 2 weeks.

I realised though that I’d overcalculated my loss last week getting muddled about how many pounds there are in a stone. Gah!

HardRockOwl · 10/05/2022 22:34

@chloechloe that's a brilliant loss. You just be pleased with that

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 10/05/2022 22:37

*must!

I was really hungry about half an hour ago. Like ravenous and needed to eat. I think this is possibly because I only had a hot chocolate as one snack and I halved the halloumi I had yesterday so a smaller portion. Dinner was also quite light

So I wavered momentarily over the S'mores brownie bake that's in my kitchen but sensibly went for a babybel and then some watermelon and it's taken the edge off thankfully

Moanranger · 10/05/2022 22:49

I thought it was about time for a new thread. I have been suffering from a lack of motivation for the last 4-5 days, sometimes a bit fed up with meal prep - oh, just to grab a pre-made tuna sandwich & a Diet Coke! This started last Thursday & I was hungry all day! But I did realise it was related to feeling tense & stressed.
But how to get from “realising” to “change”. Knowing I am hungry due to anxiety/stress does not stop me feeling hungry. And I hate it, so eventually I give in.
Food for thought/action
I now have the six week plan book & just started week 1, 4 exercise sessions per week is achievable, I do some LP & some of my own.
Tomorrow I have 3+ hours on train, so mulling over how to structure eating, such as: a late breakfast pancake ( one of several LP recipes to choose from)
Snack on afternoon train ( sliced apple & nuts)
Lunch of lentil, goats cheese, etc salad on journey home.
A nice bowl of LP bouillabaisse ( in fridge already) for supper after I return.
That should work.
I will try getting back in the circle & report in on Thursday

Firsteatthefrog · 10/05/2022 23:16

@Moanranger That sounds like a well thought out plan for the train. Particularly the bouillabaisse in the fridge! that's where I would fall down after valiant efforts all day if i had to come in and start cooking.
I hear you on the stress eating and naming it isn't the same as taming it for me either! I don't know what the answer is, I suppose to find other ways of coping. I know I should just breathe sometimes but I think sometimes I need to move to feel better and that's not always possible at the time. WFH I've been known to do 5 minutes on the exercise bike after an annoying phone call when otherwise I would raid the kitchen! Maybe more exercise and walking will help generally. No idea! If you find something that works for you let me know!

@chloechloe well done on the weight loss! And the centimetres!

keiratwiceknightly · 11/05/2022 05:46

Stress eating/ tiredness eating is absolutely a thing! We are all guilty of it from time to time - our lives are often v busy and it's easier to grab something ready made (and carb heavy for that instant hit). Great idea to plan for that and be ready.

I've enjoyed a pack of feta and Greek yoghurt spread this week. It looks a bit like a pack of Philadelphia but v Greek looking packaging - I've dipped cut veg in it for a snack and spread on oatcakes. Recommend!

HardRockOwl · 11/05/2022 08:51

@keiratwiceknightly I eat that spread too. The Odyssey one? It's delicious isn't it?

OP posts:
florianfortescue · 11/05/2022 09:50

Oh I will have to check that out. It sounds delicious.

Ended up having brown rice with our chicken stew last night as I was keen to avoid feeling hungry after dinner again, and it worked.

Today:

B probably oat bran porridge with strawberries and coconut
L omelette with tomatoes, spinach and goats cheese
D will have to see as I'm going out for dinner tonight. I'll probably have grilled meat or seafood or similar with some salad.

HardRockOwl · 11/05/2022 10:00

I've had porridge with a tiny bit of protein powder mixed in with raspberries + strawberries plus a mango quark yogurt thing for breakfast. Eaten a little more because I'm keen to avoid the starving sensation I had last night! That is rare though I have to say and of course is going to happen from time to time
