Precious thread is here ... Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now .. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4517125-louise-parker-method-anyone-i-know-it-s-a-bit-old-fashioned-now

Just a place to chat about the method, the ups and downs and how it works etc.

I personally have just completed the first 6 week Transform phase and have lost 18 lbs. Not quite 'transformed' yet but on my way Grin

Well I weighed yesterday after a week on plan and I had only lost 1.5 pounds. A little bit disappointing. But totm & possibly not enough exercise.
I'm afraid I haven't stuck to it this weekend. But I'm back on plan from tomorrow. I will continue but i may not have breakfast every day. I know it's not strictly adhering to the plan but Ive never been particularly hungry in the mornings & if I'm organised with my snacks I should be ok (as in, not snacking on biscuits and crisps).
At the ripe old age of 48 it is truly really bloody difficult to lose weight [sigh]

Rainallnight · 15/05/2022 22:57

Wow @Bet01, that’s very salutary about the calories. I wonder if it’s the right plan for me after all. I’m very short so I need even fewer calories than other people in order to lose weight.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain · 16/05/2022 06:35

Week 5 weigh in and another pound lost, so 8lb in total now which I'm very pleased with. I'm 45, peri menopausal and have a dodgy thyroid so this is amazing g progress for me.

Week 1: 4lb
Week 2: 1lb
Week 3: 1lb
Week 4: 1lb
Week 5: 1lb

It's slow and it'll take me till Xmas to get to my target but each week I do feel better, and It genuinely doesn't feel like a diet so I'll just keep eating like this. It took 30 years to go on I don't mind it taking 6 months to come off!

blardyfeck · 16/05/2022 06:43

@Rainallnight I'm short too, and I felt I was eating an awful lot last week. Perhaps it's too much for me.
I was just surprised because usually the first week of a new way of eating tends to mean fairly big losses for me, considering it was a complete turn-around in what I was eating.
I will carry on, possibly with no breakfast or even just fruit for breakfast, and see how I go this week.
I have felt a lot better which is a definite bonus

GoodNutButters · 16/05/2022 07:31

First weigh-in time: I've lost 7lb in the first two weeks of the programme. Really happy with that! Especially as I've done very little exercise and have only managed 10k steps on about three occasions... and I stepped out of the circle on Saturday night for a Eurovision party.

Hoping for similar progress over the next two weeks as I stick at it!

HardRockOwl · 16/05/2022 09:20

@Rainallnight don't worry about the calories. This isn't a calorie counting plan and it should balance itself out, depending on your food choices.

@GoodNutButters that's absolutely amazing! Well done

Week 7 weigh in for me and I've stayed the same.

Now normally they would have me hearing right for the biscuit tin but this time, I feel absolutely fine about it. I know weight loss isn't linear and I've not done anything differently this week, so I know if I just continue as usual for week 8, the losses will come again

Mid week, I was showing 2 lbs down so I know it's there. I'm feeling a bit ,. Bloated right now so think that's got something to do with it

Week 1 - 7 lbs
Week 2 - 3 lbs
Week 3 - 2 lbs
Week 4 - 2 lbs
Week 5 - 1 lbs
Week 6 - 3 lbs
Week 7 - stayed the same

So I'm still at 18 lbs off in 7 weeks and I WILL see this move next week!

Well done @HardRockOwl, consistency is winning and as you say, progress isn't linear!

Personally I'm delighted to have got this far with no calorie counting. I'm also just really enjoying the approach to food and how it all feels special and luxurious. I feel like I'm looking after myself, which is a nice feeling and long may it last.

HardRockOwl · 16/05/2022 16:43

@GoodNutButters yes I agree with you. I've not thought once about calories. However I'm aware of complacency so I probably need to consider going back to basics at some point so nothing slips.

Did have a small dip at not losing a thing this week. Considered having some red velvet cake and wotsits but then decided not to because id only be furious with myself afterwards and it won't take me any closer to my goal

Food times for today so far

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain · 16/05/2022 17:00

Don't give up @HardRockOwl! If you're aiming for 1-2lb a week then you're due a no change week?!

Menu today:
B: Greek yoghurt & nuts & seeds & blueberries

S: homemade baba ganosh on a wholemeal thin. Took bloody hours to make and looks like cat food Envy

L: halloumi salad

S: melon & pecans

D: chicken & veg stir fry

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain · 16/05/2022 17:01

What's happened to all the paragraphs @MNHQ? So annoying

Hobbes8 · 16/05/2022 18:41

As suspected, no loss this week. Also it’s my wedding anniversary today so we’ve just ordered a take away. Nothing too terrible, but I will have rice and Prosecco. And I’ve been too busy to eat properly today so I’m ravenous! Im treating it as a “worth it” celebratory feast.

Onwards and upwards tomorrow.

florianfortescue · 16/05/2022 20:38

Today I've had:

B the "carrot cake" Bircher ie normal Bircher with grated carrot, apple, cinnamon and nutmeg
S latte and oatcakes
L chicken and vegetable soup
S two satsumas and a babybel
D sesame crusted tuna and stir fried green veg

Feeling very tired and empty so I may have a medjool date with my bedtime (decaf) coffee. My baby is not sleeping brilliantly at the moment and the nights feel pretty long... zzz

HardRockOwl · 16/05/2022 22:05

@florianfortescue poor you. Hope you get a better night tonight. This won't help right now at all but truly, the nights are long but the years are short so you will get through this.

Well don't for now turning to unhealthy food though

HardRockOwl · 16/05/2022 22:07

@Hobbes8 happy anniversary! Sorry to hear no loss but like I said earlier, weight loss isn't linear and a stay the same is better than a gain!

I'm in the same boat with a stay the same this week but I'm in too deep to fall off the wagon now 😀

chloechloe · 16/05/2022 22:37

Well done on your loss @GoodNutButters , that’s a great result! And @HardRockOwl I’m so impressed by your consistency!

Week 3 weigh in for me today. I have gained a pound since last week but lost 2cm off my hips. I guess it shows not to obsess about the scales too much!

I took delivery of the LPM cookbook today as well of one of the Roasting Tin books, which looks fab and has lots of on plan food. I’m really looking forward to trying some new things this week.

I’ve also moved onto Workout 2 which is harder than the first. Is anybody else doing the exercises from the book? Workout 2 include triceps dips which I hate. They’re toooooo hard!

HardRockOwl · 16/05/2022 23:21

@chloechloe I hadn't even glanced at the exercises but I'm wondering if I should give them a go? How much time do they take up and do they make you sweat? I don't want to sweat!

I swim 5 times a week and I'm thinking I need to add something else in so I may have to cave in and follow the exercises

The green roasting tin book is decent. My problem is that sometimes I get a bit 'healthy fooded out' if you see what I mean. This isn't a plan which allows sweet treats particularly is it? No bad thing but they're definitely not in abundance in any book!

HardRockOwl · 16/05/2022 23:23

Something terrible happened today.

I ran out of good vanilla paste 😧

Don't think I'll repurchase. It was about £14 and it added very little in the way of flavour for me. I prefer a tiny amount of protein powder if I need to sweeten something up a bit

OP posts:
florianfortescue · 17/05/2022 04:50

Which one have you been using @HardRockOwl ? I had a little pot for about a fiver from Ocado but it's very expensive and tiny so I've now got some from Dr Oetker (not GOOD and contains sugar, but so did the other one tbf).

HardRockOwl · 17/05/2022 07:20

@florianfortescue it was called Heilala and is from Amazon. £14.57! Good to know it's cheaper elsewhere. However I just wasn't sure it added anything for me tbh

OP posts:
chloechloe · 17/05/2022 08:17

I think the exercises would complement swimming quite well @HardRockOwl They are basically body weight exercises to build muscle with cardio moves mixed in. Workout 1 is not sweaty but Workout 2 is. There are 5 or 6 exercises which you do for 1 minute each and then you repeat the circuit. So I do 30 minutes (the book says up to 40 min but I find that unachievable with 3 kids).

I used to be a real sugar junkie but I’ve found this way of eating has actually stopped me craving sweet things. If I do have something then I make sure it’s something good, like the lovely homemade rhubarb cake my friend brought round (rather than a shop bought doughnut or a bar of cheap chocolate for example).

GoodNutButters · 17/05/2022 08:52

My GOOD vanilla paste is £4.70 from Waitrose. The pot is small though. And I think they all have a tiny bit of alcohol and sugar in - just about the only alcohol and sugar we're getting! But I agree I'm not sure it actually adds much in some of the recipes, though it's nice in the butter peaches and ricotta cream one.
I've been getting my sweetness fix from the chocolate and raspberry bircher breakfast and from oatcakes with homemade cocoa hazelnut butter (recipe for that is in the cookbook I think). And I'm going to try the monkey toast with my dd this week. Is anyone else using stevia? I don't really like the taste so I've been leaving it out or occasionally substituting it for about half a teaspoon of GOOD honey. Probably all wrong but I like it.
