Precious thread is here ... Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now .. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4517125-louise-parker-method-anyone-i-know-it-s-a-bit-old-fashioned-now

Just a place to chat about the method, the ups and downs and how it works etc.

I personally have just completed the first 6 week Transform phase and have lost 18 lbs. Not quite 'transformed' yet but on my way Grin

@strawberrybarn I just fry the mushrooms in a pan with a little olive oil and salt and pepper. They're delicious with the whipped feta

For those asking, this is the sweet potato salad recipe, I figure it's pretty much on method!

That's for lunch for me today @ElvenDreamer thank you!

@SnowWhitesSM am a meal planner, I tend to plan a full 6 weeks at a time because I hate thinking about what to eat, photo is this week's menu. Some meals are not quite on method, I modify my portion fractionally. I don't have time to cook on Fridays and frequently bulk cook recipes to freeze for this purpose. DH is in charge of weekends. I usually make 2 types of salad/light lunchfor the week and box them up in the fridge.

@strawberrybarn I'm trying really hard with all the pillars, definitely not always winning but for me it does feel important for success as I'm an awful emotional eater!

Ok I've taken a photo this morning and put it next to one I took in April. I THINK I look a bit less chunky?

You definitely look slimmer! Bravo

MrsBartlet · 06/06/2022 13:29

@HardRockOwl you definitely look much slimmer! You look great. Well done - 24lbs is a huge loss!

HardRockOwl · 06/06/2022 13:55

Thanks! I don't think the perspective is quite right on the photos but I'm sure I can see a difference

HardRockOwl · 06/06/2022 20:33

Food times for today ..

Carrot cake bircher (won't make again. It was ok but didn't grab me)

Cherries + banana

Quinoa, salad leaves, tomato, quorn slices, balsamic vinegar

Matcha latte + few nuts

Sweet potato wedges, avocado, salad leaves (didn't have ingredients for @ElvenDreamer recipe so had to improvise

OP posts:
SnowWhitesSM · 06/06/2022 20:55

@ElvenDreamer I hate thinking about it too. If I don't plan we end up down the chip shop or a naice Charlie Bingham ready meal.

You look great OP. It definitely shows.

I had

Porridge and peanut butter

2 dried apricots and 2 brazil nuts

Scrambled eggs with onions, peppers, mushrooms.

A packet of crisps - but wholegrain crisps 😂

Left over cajun chicken with salad and a few roasted chickpeas. Chilli sauce (sugar and sweetner free) over the chicken.

ElvenDreamer · 06/06/2022 21:11

@HardRockOwl you look great, it's definitely noticable!

Well, today mostly went as planned, may have had a small muffin incident, but it was homeade so a GOOD muffin at least 😂. Cleaning my teeth now so I don't decend into evening madness. House is mostly tidy which is helping my mood, trying not to feel too stressed about the number of things in my calendar that I have to juggle over the coming weeks, deep breathing and EOs for the win! Have just taken some frozen berries out of the freezer ready to defrost for breakfast and I made a fresh batch of yoghurt so I feel like I'm all set for the morning.

Sutra · 07/06/2022 06:44

@HardRockOwl I think there’s a huge difference - you look amazing! Well done!

Gensola · 07/06/2022 08:08

@HardRockOwl you definitely look loads slimmer, I have a similar thing where I can’t really see much difference between my before and after photos having lost 15 pounds, but other people seem to see quite a big difference!
I stepped outside the circle big time this weekend but back on it now. 4 weeks til my honeymoon (cancelled three times due to covid, so we are married but finally going on honeymoon!) and I would really like to lose some more before then.

strawberrybarn · 07/06/2022 08:57

You look so different @HardRockOwl , well done! Like a different person! How much more do you want to lose?

Have a wonderful honeymoon @Gensola , we didn't have a proper honeymoon and I've always regretted it. And have a brilliant holiday @MrsBartlet !

I am checking in today with a 1.4kg (3lbs) weight loss from my first weigh in a week ago - I'll take that! 4w today until my holiday, so need to keep at it.

Yesterday's food:-
B vegan chocolate & raspberry bircher
S skinny decaf latte, half a mandarin, 4 or 5 tiny chunks of cheese
L smoky beans on wholemeal toast with melted mozzarella
S 2 x mandarins and a small handful of mixed nuts
T 'delicate' portion of homemade fish pie with cauliflower mash and green beans

Thanks for the recipe @ElvenDreamer , that's on my list for this week!

I struggle with meal planning @SnowWhitesSM , it's constantly in my head and takes up far too much space. I have really fussy kids and DH too, which means I am often shopping for, cooking and clearing up after multiple meals. No answers here but lots of sympathy!

GoodNutButters · 07/06/2022 09:44

@HardRockOwl There is a huge difference, well done!

Just checking in with a 2.5lb loss this week, which surprised me as I was out of the circle a fair bit over the bank holiday with jubilee parties and stuff.

Got a bit bored of bircher for breakfast so I'm switching it up with smoothies this week and feeling quite revitalised!

HardRockOwl · 07/06/2022 09:46

@strawberrybarn I've got another 2 stone to lose worst luck. Louise says we mustn't get off the train a stop too early so I'm going for the middle of where I should be on the BMI chart. Whether I'll achieve this is anyone's guess!

I initially said I wanted to drop a couple of stone as I'm relatively comfortable now but I am still overweight and quite significantly so tbh. But I've come this far so I may as well keep going I suppose

I don't mean plan for me either - brocade I work from home I'm able to just pop to Waitrose as and when and I never bloody know what I'll feel like eating!

HardRockOwl · 07/06/2022 09:47

@GoodNutButters ooh well done you're doing brilliantly! So pleased for you

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 07/06/2022 09:49

@Gensola 15 lbs is really good, I'm sure you'll smash it for the honeymoon

@Sutra aw thank you. How are you getting on?

@ElvenDreamer I'm in awe of your planning!

OP posts:
ElvenDreamer · 07/06/2022 15:43

@HardRockOwl I only plan as I'm not an instinctive 'what can I throw together and produce an amazing meal' kind of person, I'm not a fan of cooking and am not that great at it either, so a plan really helps me be less rubbish 😂

Well so far today food has been:
Breakfast-yoghurt, bran and berries.
Lunch-loads of veggie sticks and a homeade scotch egg
Snack-oat cakes and fruit
Dinner-will be a chicken and vegetable bake.
Low on exercise today as teaching all day and will be rehearsing all eve but managed a 10 minute workout app 1st thing this morning.

TheWreathLady · 07/06/2022 17:30

@HardRockOwl You look fantastic! You can definitely see the difference. I was thinking it would be nice to see progress photos! Did you take measurements at the beginning? Definitely a few inches less I would think.

I’m rubbish at planning meals and every week think I will do it and before I know it it’s Friday again and I’ve failed!

HardRockOwl · 07/06/2022 19:56

@TheWreathLady I didnt take measurements - should have done I suppose! I don't think I particularly wanted to know Grin

OP posts:
strawberrybarn · 07/06/2022 20:29

Thank you so much for the sweet potato salad recipe @ElvenDreamer, it was seriously one of the nicest meals I've ever had!

B vanilla bircher with fresh blackberries, grated apple & toasted hazelnuts
S apple & peanut butter
L leftover 'delicate' portion of homemade fish pie with cauliflower mash and tenderstem brocolli
S feta & plum
T roasted sweet potato salad with pine nuts and green power dressing. I added a few vine cherry tomatoes too

I am trying to stop myself going yo eat the leftover green power dressing with a spoon!

HardRockOwl · 07/06/2022 23:23

I'm off for a sunny break on Thursday - just to the algarve for 3 days. So my thoughts are turning to what I'll eat and if I'll stay in the circle.

We aren't going all inclusive so I think my plan is actually to remain in the circle as far as I can tbh. Without being silly and actively 'dieting.' I just know how I'll feel to come home and have put on half a stone or something - and yes, I'm capable of gaining that over a long weekend there for sure!

OP posts:
Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 08/06/2022 06:54

Hello, I’m tentatively stepping back. I fell out of the circle completely and weigh more than before. I’m back and determined.

ElvenDreamer · 08/06/2022 07:20

@strawberrybarn you are very welcome, that green power dressing is so nice isn't it!
@HardRockOwl you can definitely do this, there will be many delicious things well within the circle I should think, then if the odd thing is outside it doesn't really matter, it just becomes like the lifestyle phase for a few days, and while you may not lose, you won't gain. Have a lovely holiday 😁
Just contemplating my day today, Wednesday tends to be my midweek slump day in my general attitude to life, not helped by late rehearsals on a Tueasday night where I always feel the need for a snack after....at least last night it was 3 oatcakes with cheese and a couple of pickles, normally it would have been an entire plateful and a large g and t so I'm counting it as a win. Still feel a bit 'tummyish' this morning though. Ah well, hop back in the circle and carry on. Have a good day all.
