Precious thread is here ... Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now .. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4517125-louise-parker-method-anyone-i-know-it-s-a-bit-old-fashioned-now

Just a place to chat about the method, the ups and downs and how it works etc.

I personally have just completed the first 6 week Transform phase and have lost 18 lbs. Not quite 'transformed' yet but on my way Grin

@Henofthehill welcome!

I drove up north last week for a few days on my own to see family. I took ..

Mixed nuts
Fruit
Babybels
Oat cakes
Peanut butter

as snacks. And I ate feta salads, cheese on a wholemeal roll, roasted veg etc whilst I was there. It was perfectly doable for me with a little thought so I'm sure you'll be fine

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 02/06/2022 16:40

Food times for today so far

Smoothie bowl with banana and coconut

Apple slices with peanut butter

Wrap with hummus, avocado and tomato

Matcha latte + 2 babybels .+ cherries

Not sure about dinner yet! Usual thing of not feeling particularly hungry for healthy food 😀

I think it'll be a feta salad actually!

I really fancied the goats cheese/courgette fritters @Sutra! Maybe I'll still give them a go!

If I was visiting someone @Henofthehill , I'd probably premake some bircher for a couple of days and just add fruit/nuts at each breakfast. I'd also take some fruit, nuts and cheese for snacks and try and eat as low carb as possible at mealtimes.

I was sorely tempted by the Haagen Daaz in my freezer today, but managed to resist!

B grilled nectarine & vanilla ricotta cream
S Pink Lady apple & peanut butter
L smoky beans on toast
S raw broccoli and a handful of mixed nuts
T Asda sea bass with soy & ginger - 2g carbs for the lot. I had this with salad and French dressing

I need to sort my meal plan for the next few days. Tricky as everyone is off work/school.

Sutra · 03/06/2022 07:18

@strawberrybarn maybe you just need a better non stick pan than mine! They really did taste quite nice, and I’ve got a few left in the fridge for lunch today so I can recommend the flavours if not the actual aesthetic 🤣

HardRockOwl · 03/06/2022 12:14

Morning all

Just eaten breakfast so far today and it filled me up so much, I wasn't able to have my snack.

Porridge with chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflowers seeds, peach, strawberries, protein powder, ricotta + coconut shreds

What a lovely breakfast @HardRockOwl !

I went to a kids' festival today and bravely resisted the multiple homemade cakes stalls (I LOVE homemade cake!) - go me!

B grilled nectarine & vanilla ricotta cream
S chopped feta & plum
L smoky beans on toast
S skinny decaf latte
T 2 x Tesco Finest ranch steaks with garlic butter. I had this with Tesco rainbow salad and French dressing

I went to a big Tesco today and STILL couldn't findbeluga lentils or quinoa pouches! I did get some reduced goodies though!

I am feeling a bit down in the dumps today, fed up being fat and (what feels like) watching everyone else in the world eat ice creams and have fun! I'm just feeling hard done by as it's the Bank Holiday weekend!

I will get my head stuck into my meal planning and try to cheer up!

HardRockOwl · 03/06/2022 22:47

@strawberrybarn I've said it before and I'll say it again.. I've never met a cake that I didn't like. Oh apart from fruit cake. And even then, i'd probably force it down to be polite

I've had quite a few of those down sort of moments over the past 10 weeks on this plan. Usually when I'm sat there wondering what to eat because I just don't WANT something healthy. But honestly, battle through them. You'll be really glad you did.

OP posts:
strawberrybarn · 03/06/2022 23:48

I like homemade cake only @HardRockOwl (preferably not mine, I'm not a great baker), no nasty shop bought for me! There were multiple stalls full of lovely looking cupcakes, brownies, carrot cake, loaf cakes - yum, yum, yum!

I had a couple of squares of dark chocolate and feel satisfied now! Battled through successfully I think!

Tomorrow's fun morning job is to make pancakes for multiple children staying in my house (birthday sleepover) - I would murder a loved one for a fresh, hot pancake with golden syrup - must resist!

strawberrybarn · 04/06/2022 09:18

I am in the middle of making post sleepover pancakes and made myself some LPM compliant ones too! Sophie Super Fluffy Pancakes, p. 144, 6w book (1/4 recipe although wish I'd made extra for tomorrow now!). I made raspberry coulis for mine as I didn't have any strawberries, yum! Recommended!

BBQ later so planning burger, sausage, halloumi & coleslaw for me.

HardRockOwl · 04/06/2022 10:19

oh those pancakes look amazing! Were they easy to make? I've not tried a pancake yet as my track record for making them is pretty dismal

Afternoon all

Still here, still in the circle ⭕️ plodding along!

Breakfast was porridge with chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds + apple + peach + ricotta

Lunch was a very large slice of rye sourdough bread topped with feta cheese spread and mushrooms

Haven't eaten a snack yet as a bit too full tbh! I'm getting quite into matcha powder lattes though - easy to make with oat milk in the velvetiser so I have had one of those past few days

OP posts:
Plainandsimple · 04/06/2022 15:15

Afternoon all! Sorry for the radio silence - had a bit of a rough start to the week (family stuff) which peaked with dinner on Tuesday being two danish pastries 🙄Still, pulled it back on Wednesday and am delighted to report a 2.5lb loss this week! Which drops me into the next stone under and we all know what a milestone that is! And one of my chins seems to have disappeared so yay me! 😄 Glad to see everyone is doing well and hello to the newbies, hand on heart this is the easiest weight loss plan you'll ever follow - and believe me, I've tried pretty much all of them. Meals seemed have settled into alternating yoghurt & fruit with oatbran porridge on weekdays, oatbran pancakes & fruit at the weekend, lunches tend to be salady with protein - either chicken, fish or cheese, dinners a variation on what the rest of the household are having - no starchy carbs for me, loads more veg instead, and snacks mostly fruit and a few nuts - all very tasty, very varied and seasonal and very effective!

SnowWhitesSM · 04/06/2022 15:30

I'm back. I went on holiday and put on a few lbs so now I'm starting again at 12.2.

About to go shopping and get in lots of tray bake type of food.

strawberrybarn · 04/06/2022 21:23

Hello all!

Nice to 'meet' you @Plainandsimple and @SnowWhitesSM !

B super fluffy pancakes & raspberry coulis
S sliced apple & peanut butter
L paprika houmous & tabbouleh (see pic)
S N/A
T BBQ (see pic) - burger & cheese, 2 x gluten free sausages, boiled egg, cherry toms. No coleslaw as it was disgusting (I'd put in too much dill :puke:) and no halloumi as I completely forgot to cook it. I had a big bowl of strawberries in lieu of my afternoon snack

I had some 70% dark chocolate again tonight, need to reign that in.

The pancakes were relatively simple @HardRockOwl , only pain was whisking the egg white. They are very easy to cook, like American pancakes and not crepes!

I did some long overdue gardening today, hopefully that counts as some exercise!

I'm about to start my digital detox for this evening, what will I do with my time!

strawberrybarn · 04/06/2022 21:25

I forgot the photos!

Morning

That looks like a lovely menu @strawberrybarn

I've started the day with porridge, peach, strawberries and blueberries with chia seeds

Now having a matcha powder latte as my snack for the morning as I'm not particularly hungry

Really recommend this stuff ..

Lunch was the extra large slice of sourdough with mushrooms and feta whipped spread again. And then I had a small amount of dried mango which I know Louise would not approve of but meh.

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 05/06/2022 20:14

Food times for today ..

Porridge with fruit

Matcha latte

Mushrooms with whipped feta on sourdough bread

Small amount of dried mango + fresh cherries 🍒

Mozzarella, tomatoes + mixed nuts - it was supposed to be avocado but I cut into it and it was manky. Hate it when that happens

I've lost track of what weigh in it is tomorrow. I think it's number 10. Feels like a lot more sometimes 😜

OP posts:
strawberrybarn · 05/06/2022 22:31

Hello!

That doesn't sound like a lot of food @HardRockOwl, were you full up? How did you cook your mushrooms or do you like them raw?

I went holiday clothes shopping today. I'm comfortably in a 20 now (from a 24) but do struggle with tops. I've got a massive spare tyre that lots of boxy tops like to settle on so I like them LONG! I also hate the current peplum and frills trend, give me some plain brightly coloured tops please!

When I was in Sainsburys, I stocked up on the elusive beluga lentil and quinoa pouches and also tofu, nuts, peaches etc. I also looked for the whipped feta spread but no luck!

B kefir yoghurt with fresh strawberries, toasted hazelnuts and toasted coconut flakes
S apple & peanut butter
L cottage cheese & M&S seedy crackers with a tomato
S none
T grilled halloumi with pesto and roasted veg (cauliflower, courgette, pepper, cherry tomatoes, onion, chilli and garlic)

Good luck to anyone weighing in tomorrow!

ElvenDreamer · 06/06/2022 07:47

Morning everyone!
(Putting on bright and breezy expression while slinking back into the thread somewhat shamfacedly...)
Well, I haven't posted due to taking the decision over half term to ignore everything while on holiday and really take a complete break due to how utterly horrific the previous 6 weeks has been. Amazingly I have not actually put on weight, presumably due to loosely being on method between the crap, and still being very active. (Lots of kayaking and walking on a camping holiday.)

Back now, food for today:
Breakfast - porridge with blueberries.
Lunch - roasted sweet potato salad with pine nuts and green power dressing (may post a photo of this later, it was a recipe in a telegraph diet supplement a few years ago that I saved, I love it!)
Dinner - spicy harissa sprouts and broccoli with halloumi and spinach. (Green roasting tin)
Snacks - fruit, oat cakes.

Exercise, have started the day with a short yoga app and will do some gardening.

General mind set, have a lovely bunch of flowers on my table that are making me smile each time I see them, starting my mornings with duolingo over my coffee, also time in my garden.

Have a great day everyone!

strawberrybarn · 06/06/2022 08:00

Hi @ElvenDreamer , I'd love the sweet potato recipe please! I love roasted root veg (is it OK on LPM?) and pine nuts! I wish pine nuts weren't so ££, a tiny bag (100g/150g?) is now £5.20 in Tesco!

I'm impressed you are on board with the other parts of the method. I think I've cracked the food, but am failing miserably with exercise, screen time, brain breaks, mindset etc. Enjoy your flowers and garden and what language are you learning?

I just had the vegan chocolate and raspberry bircher, yum!! It was so good!

SnowWhitesSM · 06/06/2022 08:18

Happy Monday

Does anyone meal plan and if so do you want to share it?

Main meals this week for me and dc:

Monday- Left over cajun chicken breasts from yesterday with a load of veg for me, dc will have it in wraps with hummus.

Tuesday- LP turkey meatballs (dc will have pasta).

Wednesday - LP bean burgers and avocado hummus (dc will have a burger roll).

Thursday - chicken sausages with bean mash and green veg.

Friday - salmon for me, pizza for dc

Saturday - ratatouille with feta for me, will blitz it down for dc and serve it with pasta as although they are teens they think they do not like courgette and aubergine.

Sunday - chicken and veg tray bake.

Snacks - LP feta and spinach soufflés, roasted chickpeas, oatcakes with peanut butter and banana, mixed nuts, hummus, boiled eggs.

We did eat far less meat before this. If anyone has veggie recipes that teens who don't like cauliflower, courgette or aubergines will eat then please share or link for me to use next week.

MrsBartlet · 06/06/2022 08:33

Morning everyone. Wk 6 weigh in this morning and I am 9st 6. Started at just over 10 stone so I am delighted. Off on holiday on Friday so I will stay in the circle for the rest of the week then I aim to do 80/20 on holiday for 2 weeks then I will be doing another 6 week stint with the aim of getting to 9 stone. The last time I was under 9 stone was when I was at university and given I am 51, that was some time ago!

I did what LP suggests for week 6 and ate outside the circle twice this week to practise for the next phase and still lost 1.8lbs this week which is encouraging.

HardRockOwl · 06/06/2022 08:58

Morning all. It's weigh in 524 for me - the t what feels like it! No, I believe it's weigh-in number 10.

I'm another lb down so that's 24 lbs off to date. It all seems a bit painfully slow to me but no choice now but to keep plodding along. And it feels better to say to myself ' I'm 4 lbs away from 2 stone!'

Breakfast was carrot cake bircher which was 'ok' but not sure I'd have it again. Had it with a chopped peach to use the last one up and some pumpkin seeds.

HardRockOwl · 06/06/2022 09:01

@MrsBartlet well done; that's a brilliant loss

@SnowWhitesSM wish I could meal plan! I have all good intentions but I'm a rebel deep down and I seem to get to my designated meal for the day and say 'no I'm not having that!' so it's better for me to wing it. My youngest is 15 so it's easy for me to cook for the family and sort myself out with what I want. Always like reading people's menus though!

@ElvenDreamer ooh I'd love the recipe for that sweet potato dish? I know not strictly on plan but I've eaten sweet potatoes a couple of times and I feel that if you can have a wholemeal roll or a slice of GOOD bread, then I think a sweet potato is just fine
