Precious thread is here ... Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now .. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4517125-louise-parker-method-anyone-i-know-it-s-a-bit-old-fashioned-now

Just a place to chat about the method, the ups and downs and how it works etc.

I personally have just completed the first 6 week Transform phase and have lost 18 lbs. Not quite 'transformed' yet but on my way Grin

Ooh I have a non scale victory! My wedding ring is loose! I wear my great great great grandmas wedding ring dating back to 1794 and it's normally TIGHT. It's now very easy to slip on and off and due to its enormous sentimental value, I'm going to take it off and put it away for now as I'm so terrified of losing it.

Food times today ..

Porridge with Greek yogurt, shredded coconut, pumpkin seeds, strawberries + chopped apple

Mixed nuts

Low carb wrap with hummus, mozzarella and salad

Cherries

Roasted sweet potato wedges (I know not strictly on plan but meh!) with tofu and roast tomatoes

Well done everyone on your losses so far. I have lost another 0.6lb this week, bringing me to 10.4 lb lost in total. This brings me back to my weight in Oct 2020. I'm keeping going as I can see that this works and it is such a healthy w.o.e. I do tend to step out of the circle at the weekend, but as long as the numbers are going down even if slowly, I'm allowing myself that for now, even if Louise wouldn't approve!

strawberrybarn · 30/05/2022 22:09

Hello everyone!

I am slinking in on day 1 and hope you'll have me as I've got so much out of the LPM threads during my prep. time. Thanks for all the meal ideas, recipes and chat!

So I am seriously overweight, over 17 stone. I was 19.5 stone in November 2021 and have lost a fair bit doing HFLC since then but have been wavering and need a new plan to follow. I am really hopeful this will give me a boost and I can stop losing and gaining the same 2-3 stone over and over again. I am going on holiday in early July, so I'll be doing a 5 week transform phase from now then holiday then a 6 week transform phase again (& repeat).

Day one today (Mon 30/5):-

  • Lemon water
  • B Yeo Valley plain Kefir yoghurt (about 100g) with 3 sliced strawberries & 6 hazelnuts
  • S 3/4 pink lady apple & Whole Earth peanut butter
  • L Homemade sweet potato & coconut soup + slice of protein bread with very thin smearing of cream cheese, 1/2 small avocado and 30g smoked salmon
  • S Watermelon & feta
  • T Cold roast chicken, cold cooked broccoli, 8 x vine cherry tomatoes, small pile of grated mozzarella

My tea tonight was a bit random as it was leftovers. Any food comments welcome - I'm not sure I've got it 100% yet, my LfL book only arrived today and I'm still waiting for the others to arrive. The sweet potato soup was probably not compliant.

4+ litres of water (this is something I don't really struggle with)

30 (slow) lengths in the pool. I am going to find my old Withings smart watch and see if I can work out how to link it all up to my phone again. I have a really sedentary lifestyle so doing the steps or any exercise is going to be super difficult for me.

I've prepped my vanilla bircher for tomorrow morning. I don't have any vanilla paste as I could only find the Dr O stuff which I'm wasn't sure was compatible so I used some vanilla powder in my bircher? I also can't stand 0% fat plain yoghurt so am using 10% fat Greek or Kefir yoghur, I hope I'll get away with it.

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know you all!

HardRockOwl · 30/05/2022 23:07

Hi @strawberrybarn and welcome. I think you'll see some great results as this honestly is such a nice plan to follow - all you have to do basically is eat three meals a day and 2 snacks a day.. oh and as Louise would say 'eat delicately' but I'm not sure how true this is for me 😀

Regarding your food for today, I'd say full fat Greek yogurt is fine. It's what I have and I've lost 1 stone 9 lbs since starting the plan at the end of March. When I have zero fat yogurt, I add a little protein powder

Vanilla paste not necessary tbh. For me personally, it adds very little but you may like to give it a go and see for yourself.

I wouldn't worry about the sweet potato soup if you just stick to having it once or twice a week - but I'd leave off the slide of bread on the side. Reason being, you're doubling up on your carbs there so I'd go potato soup OR the bread. I'd say the rest of your day is spot on, although I don't know your portion sizes of course

I also would not drink 4 litres of water as too much and you risk upsetting your electrolytes at that level. Disregard that though if it's something you always do and are comfortable with!

And I've only given feedback as you've asked for it - please just ignore the bits you want to Grin

GoodNutButters · 31/05/2022 07:15

Welcome @strawberrybarn! My advice is to really dial up the protein at every possible meal/snack and also to enjoy it as much as possible. Some of the meals and snacks are really delicious when you find the ones you like, so savour those ones.

@HardRockOwl that's interesting what you say about yogurt, I was eating the full fat stuff in my first week and that's when I had my best loss so far. I know weight loss usually slows down anyway but switching to zero fat yogurt certainly hasn't sped up my weight loss and I do feel hungrier. Might switch back to 10% fat once I've got through my current stash, as an experiment

strawberrybarn · 31/05/2022 09:11

Thanks so much @HardRockOwl and @GoodNutButters! I am lucky that I really enjoy eating this way and love the food and the way it makes me feel. I don't really treat myself very often or spend a lot of money on things for me so I try to temper that by eating well and not feeling guilty by buying nice ingredients or good quality food (from family budget) for just me!

Having said that, I am lusting after a blender/smoothie maker now! I did have my eye on a nutribullet to make smoothies and nut butters, is the Ninja Foodie better do you think?

Re. the water, I take an electrolyte powder (1g Bulk per day), which sorts out that issue!

I am currently enjoying my lemon water and have had vanilla bircher with raspberries, strawberries and toasted flaked almonds for breakfast too.

Fingers crossed for a good day 2!

Thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome @strawberrybarn

I’m another one that always has full fat yogurt - the rest of the diet seems to consist of eating things as close to their natural state as possible, rather than the type of low fat foods found in slimming world, for eg.

HardRockOwl · 31/05/2022 18:06

Food times today ..

Greek yogurt with mixed nuts, strawberries + chopped apple

Hot chocolate + orange segments

Wrap with hummus, a little grated cheese + salad

More orange segments + small piece of cheddar

Rocket, quinoa, feta, tomatoes + balsamic vinegar

Your food always sounds lovely @HardRockOwl !

Yesterday started well but didn't end well. I ended up unexpectedly supporting a family member who was having a mental health episode later in the day so missed tea and some water however, on the plus side, didn't dive into the vat of ice cream I wanted to!

Today should be better as I'm at home all day. I've just finished baked nectarines (no peaches in the supermarket) in vanilla ricotta cream - yum! Except I could have eaten double the amount!

I need to go to a bigger supermarket to stock up on quinoa and beluga lentils and other LP friendly goodies, my Asda is small and shite.

GoodNutButters · 01/06/2022 14:44

Snack discovery: I recommend freezing LP's beloved Greek yogurt with some fruit in it and having it as a lolly. Can't remember if this is actually something she recommends but it really hit the spot for me after lunch today when I was craving ice cream

strawberrybarn · 01/06/2022 17:59

I've had a great LPM day, just need to keep my mouth zipped until tomorrow now!

B grilled peaches & vanilla ricotta cream
S Pink Lady apple & peanut butter
L Smoky beans on toast (see pic)
S Watermelon & feta
T Gino D'Acampo salmon & Sicilian white wine sauce - 3g carbs for the lot. I had this with lettuce & balsamic

The lolly tip sounds good @GoodNutButters !

How is everyone else doing?

Louise Parker Method thread 2. All welcome
HardRockOwl · 01/06/2022 20:36

@strawberrybarn ooh that's a great day! The weight will be flying off you at this rate! How much would you like to lose?

OP posts:

Food times for today

Porridge with oat milk, strawberries and chia seeds + Greek yogurt

Matcha powder latte

Halloumi and salad

Orange slices

Rocket, quinoa, plant kitchen bacon, tomatoes and cucumber

Actually a truly boring day. Must jazz things up a bit tomorrow!

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 01/06/2022 20:40

@GoodNutButters ordering lolly moulds tonight from Amazon!! I think I'd blend greek yogurt with frozen berries and some stevia to take the sharpness out

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 01/06/2022 20:40

I'm inspired to have grilled peaches and ricotta tomorrow!

OP posts:
GoodNutButters · 01/06/2022 20:45

Ooh now I want grilled peaches and ricotta too!

strawberrybarn · 01/06/2022 22:40

Yay, I'm a grilled peaches influencer!

I've got a lot to lose @HardRockOwl and have been wavering around the same weight for months now (after initially losing 10kg or so on HFLC since late last year) so am doing 5w now until I go on holiday then will start another 6w when I get home.

Gensola · 02/06/2022 07:23

I’ve been lurking on this thread for a bit and wanted to say hi and that I bought LfL yesterday and read most of it, I like the way of eating and thinking about food.
are people doing the workouts too?
my food yesterday:

B: 2 boiled eggs with grated carrot and greens
L: hake poached in tomato sauce with broccoli and green beans, Greek yoghurt with compote in bottom (this was not allowed I now realise!) and a few berries
S: protein bar
D: roasted squash and beetroot salad with kale, feta, pomegranate and walnuts on a quinoa and barley grain base. (Barley also bad?) followed by a nectarine and decaf black coffee with oat milk.

I can’t have cows milk so I hope Oat etc will be suitable alternatives.

I have lost 13 pounds but have 7 more to go to GW.

HardRockOwl · 02/06/2022 09:34

Welcome @Gensola - and no, I've not glanced at the workouts Grin I swim every day though give or take, and I'm about to start couch to 5K. I could run 5K about 8 years ago and I've set myself a challenge to see if I can possibly do it again, now that I have practically one foot in the grave.

Right now I'm not sure how far I could run. Possibly to the other side of the living room? Not sure. Anyway, I'm going to get some decent running shoes and give it a go. Err soon.

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 02/06/2022 09:37

@strawberrybarn I had quite a chunk to lose too. I originally wanted to lose 2 stone - I was a good size 14 I suppose and I'm now a size 12. However this is not a trim and toned size 12 and I carry the weight where I don't want to carry weight! I've had a tummy tuck and breast reduction in the recent past so the weight seems to settle on my thighs and top half.

I've decided to take Louise's advice and 'not get off the train a stop too early' so I'm aiming for about 3 or more stone off in total. This would make me 'slim' but healthy.

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 02/06/2022 09:39

Have had a delicious breakfast. I'll buy peaches when I shop today so alas, couldn't have those this morning

I made a smoothie bowl with frozen blueberries and raspberries, chia seeds, oat bran, protein powder and oat milk, topped with sliced banana, pumpkin seeds, coconut and sunflower seeds

Sutra · 02/06/2022 12:35

Has anyone made the green/courgette fritters with goats cheese and fried egg from the 6 week book? I made it for my lunch and a) it stuck like you wouldn’t believe to my frying pan and b) looked like a car crash rather than the photo in the book, but it tasted nice. It ended up just like a weird bubble and squeak sort of heap on the plate!

Henofthehill · 02/06/2022 13:40

Hello all, I've been lurking for a little, have found the thread fantastic for tips, advice and motivation so thank you all!

I'm almost 2 weeks in and it's going well, I haven't weighed myself yet but my energy levels are improving and I just feel so much better in general.

Just wondering, what do people do when they are away/staying in someone else's home? We are visiting family this weekend and I'd love to stick to plan as much as possible. Any ideas for the best snacks/basics to bring to keep to plan as much as I can?

Thanks xx

HardRockOwl · 02/06/2022 16:36

@Sutra eww that doesn't sound nice! No, haven't made it as I detest courgettes and eggs
