@neverenoughchelseaboots I have just re-read your post. No way did you get the baby bouncer chair in the suitcase as well?!😮

Knittingnanny2 · 22/07/2022 17:40

I need to see the suitcase internal layout including a baby bouncer!

purplegirl13 · 22/07/2022 18:04

What she said 🤣

purplegirl13 · 22/07/2022 22:35

I had 2 tequila cocktails, and a large glass of rose. Only had bar snacks so now I'm making pasta for a late dinner. I need to make sure I have healthier/easy options for quick meals. Will have a think

WellTidy · 22/07/2022 22:39

Thanks for the super kind encouragement and understanding, ladies. It really means a lot, thank you.

A better day today. Stuck to my meals and had only a large gin and tonic in between. I’m happy with that, given that it’s a holiday.

And, given that it’s a holiday, I’m very happy in general!

Sorry not to have been around much lately. I’ve been away a lot, as DH has time off work this year (first time in the 20+ years we’ve been together, and last time for a long while too) and we are making the most of it. It’s my fourth holiday in as many months.

I never manage to pack light unless it’s just me and DV travelling, which is rare. But we did five days in Ibiza, and five days in New York a few weeks ago, with a carry on case each. Travelling without children makes it so much easier! I try to stick to dresses and take one that can be dressed up. For New York, I took a belt and some heeled sandals to go with one dress, but I’d have been fine without them. I’ve also brought my ‘old’ pants with me and will leave them here this time. I don’t wear masses of make up, but I really like eye shadow and lip crayons, which are dead easy to apply and take up little space.

purplegirl13 · 23/07/2022 16:31

@WellTidy absolutely no need for apologies. Sounds like you are making the most off the time off together. Where are you now?

I'm addicted to homemade iced coffees at the moment. I need to wean myself off the caramel syrup I'm adding though.

Today:
2 iced coffees
Halloumi and peach salad

Not sure what dinner will be.

I made it to a pilates class today 😊

purplegirl13 · 23/07/2022 16:33

I forgot to add my weight yesterday: 10st9.2 which is better than the 11st I was expecting but it's still not great.

WellTidy · 23/07/2022 21:58

@purplegirl13 we are in Portugal. It is absolutely glorious here, we’ve been to Lisbon for a few days and are now in the Algarve. We are in a really lovely villa with a pool and the beach is in walking distance, with restaurants, bars, ice cream places etc.

Ive done ok today, stuck to my meals but I’ve had a mini magnum and some sangria. All part of the holiday vibe and it could be a lot worse. I’ve walked for an hour too.

You’re doing well @purplegirl13 to record a loss, keep at it. Slow and steady wins the race!

Knittingnanny2 · 24/07/2022 10:50

Ah that’s we were last week, just outside albufeira ( away from the hen/stag area)
I’ve managed 3 whole days on the “drastic reduction in calories diet” and plan 3 more before beach picnic on weds with the local children and grandchildren.
my m and s summer dress ( size 12) shrank a little bit first time I washed it and was a bit snug around my troublesome area( waist) but wearing it today and is definitely a bit looser.
On the clothing size thing, I took up a dress for my size 10/12 friend last night and in “made in China” summer dresses ( SheinI think label was) she had to buy large!

PS I don’t like that saggy neck thing I’ve got going on!

Knittingnanny2 · 25/07/2022 09:56

Well this morning I decided to weigh and I’m pleasantly surprised. 9 st 1 lb so nearly back to the magic for me of under 9 st and pre pregnancy 8 st 10/12 of 1981! Hopefully by the weekend I’ll be there and can restart mindful eating again. I was convinced I’d gone up above 9st7
Good morning to you all

WellTidy · 25/07/2022 12:00

Morning @Knittingnanny2 thats really good going, well done. You’re in a really good place towards getting to where you’d like to be.

We aren’t far from Albufeira, we are in Olhos d’Agua. 35 degrees today, I don’t know what day it is. Very grateful for the pool! The term prestige doesn’t seem to drop below 23 degrees even at night so very grateful for the air con too!

WellTidy · 25/07/2022 12:00

And I love the print on that dress, you look lovely in it.

Knittingnanny2 · 25/07/2022 12:10

@welltidy that’s where we were last week! What a coincidence! My Singapore son and family ( plus maid!) booked us into the 3HB club Hambria, a few 100 m from the seafront. Although we didn’t leave the hotel complex often as it was so hot and there were 3 under 5’s!

The M and S dress is becoming a favourite, mainly due it not needing any ironing!

purplegirl13 · 25/07/2022 12:49

@WellTidy ooh that sounds lovely!
@Knittingnanny2 you look lovely in that dress, I love the print. A weigh in at just over 9st is a great result

So far today, I have had a coffee, grapes, olives and a few sweets.
Lunch will be half a tub of soup from Waitrose and a bread roll.

I am in the office and it is freezing! So definitely soup weather for me. Feeling proud I didn't succumb to the many other lunch options nearby (my office is next a Westfield shopping centre)

Knittingnanny2 · 25/07/2022 16:34

I went to the carvery just now with youngest adult son but didn’t eat as I’m not at all fussed about roast dinners! Bought him one and I had a boring cup of tea whilst we had a catch up.
Another big prawn salad for tea tonight and tomorrow when it’s fish and chips at the beach listening to a jazz singer, I’m going to have just the white fish, no batter, and a modest portion of chips!
Ive got to be mindful for ever I think as I really do want to stay under or around 9 st. Not only for vanity, but because I’m desperately trying to avoid knee replacements! My arthritis will worsen I know if I increase my weight by 10/15% and that’s only about a stone.
Hope you are all enjoying the slightly cooler weather
Except those in Portugal of course!

Sooverthemill · 26/07/2022 08:54

I had the most dreadful shock when I weighed myself yesterday after a really sh*t weekend ( had to put hamster to sleep and latitude festival locally kept us all awake all weekend) . So I’m seriously putting myself in hand even within my limited foodstuffs I have to get a grip. Yesterday was a weird day anyway but I basically had breakfast of granola and yoghurt for breakfast and again for lunch then gluten free fish fingers, small new potato and a mix of green veg for dinner.I checked calories and protein content ( which I rarely do) and that’s just under 1200 with decent protein level. I’m going to do the same today but different vegan dinner ( a puff pastry tart with roasted asparagus and cherry tomatoes with vegan cheese. ) I’ve been promising to make it for DD so we will all eat it. Plus trying to drink more water which I hate but is said to be helpful. I redid my BMR and it’s a really low 1325! Depressing. BUT I’ve booked a night away mid August when DS is coming to look after DD ( with her agreement though it will be horrid for her) and I am determined to be able to wear something nice out for dinner that night.

purplegirl13 · 26/07/2022 18:41

@Sooverthemill sorry to hear it's even tougher than usual, but I am so excited to hear you have a lovely night away to look forward to! Do you have something in mind to wear?

I think we should all try on our clothes (which don't fit) before making food choices. I had a clothing dilemma this morning, as it was too cold in the office to wear the few dresses I've been living in recently, and I daren't try my jeans on. I went with a Boden maxi dress which was too tight around the chest (and my also too tight bra is showing off back fat excess) so I wore a front tie t-shirt over to make me feel more comfortable wearing the dress.

Today:
B - Greek yoghurt and a peach
L - veg chilli burrito bowl from Tortilla
D - will be a salad with veggie kebab pieces
Drinks: water, 1 cappuccino

Sooverthemill · 28/07/2022 08:17

Thanks @purplegirl13 . Sometimes it's hard and sometimes it's harder!
I have a few options of what to wear: I have some palazzo trousers and I have 2 new dresses I haven't worn much. Will post photos when I can. Is it wrong to take 5 outfits do you think?!?

so this week is going better except poor DD is very sad . Food wise I've been 'Sensible' and the scales show almost 4 pounds down ( I know, weight fluctuates) so that's encouraging at least

EducatingArti · 28/07/2022 20:33

Hi there. I'm wondering if I can join in! I'm 5ft 1 and a half and currently weigh about 160lbs ie 11 stone 6.
Was bra shopping today and saw my tummy in the all round mirrors in the changing room. It horrified me!
I have fibromyalgia so am very tired and achy all the time which doesn't help and I crave sweet things too but I have to do something!!

againmaeve · 28/07/2022 22:03

Welcome @EducatingArti to our short club! I'm not doing very well at the moment and about to go on holiday so doubt things will improve any time soon. Beginning to think I should just go with the flow and begin again in September... hope you have a lovely night away @Sooverthemill

EducatingArti · 30/07/2022 11:30

So, 160.2 lb this morning. I ate loads of unhealthy stuff yesterday but hopefully can make up for it today!

ArtOfTheImpossible · 30/07/2022 14:26

Hi there, joining if I may. Age 40, 5 foot 3, 11 stone.

My heaviest was about 12 stone 6 when covid first hit, I had been eating my way through life's challenges. Did get down to about 10 stone 4 but have started to binge junk food and piled it back on in past 2 months. So here's a new commitment. I know I'm happier when I'm smaller, about 9 stone would be great, lower if I can do it.

I'm going to do one reasonable meal a day plus tea&coffee, 1 hour walk. No junk. Little to no alcohol.

WellTidy · 30/07/2022 15:04

hello and welcome to our two newbies, and good luck with your weight loss journeys.

really enjoying our holiday so far, which of course translates to eating in abundance. Not having too many drinks but it all certainly adds up! We have another two weeks here and then I will be home and determined to make a concerted effort at the gym and on the food front.

in the meantime, delicious ice cream and Portuguese custard tarts await.

@Knittingnanny2 we are about five minutes’ walk away, up the hill! What a coincidence. We pass your hotel every day to go down to the beach. We are enjoying staying in the villa and pool for the daytime, playing games and paddling in the beach in the late afternoon and then having drinks/ice cream/dinner just off the front in the evenings. It really is lovely. Down to the high 20s today which is so much more manageable. Feeling very lucky indeed.

WellTidy · 30/07/2022 15:06

Hope you’re feeling more comfortable @purplegirl13 and that you enjoy your time away @Sooverthemill

Knittingnanny2 · 30/07/2022 19:14

It was quite a hike back up wasn’t it?! I opted to push one of the buggies as a walking frame.
Surely we used up loads of calories “ running up that hill”?
Off to North Devon tomorrow ( via South Devon) to see my sister and family on holiday there for a few days. Lots of calories will be spent on icecream with clotted cream and a flake from my favourite childhood holiday shop of the 60’s and 70’s. If my knees can manage it, I will work off some with a couple of walks up to Baggy Point.
Via the cream tea shop.
Anyone worked out the village I’m going to?
As I’ve said before, all nice social activities involve food!
