WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Welcome, ComeBackQueen - sounds like you've had a really tricky few months and I am sorry for your loss. Congrats on your lovely baby though - hopefully they're bringing you lots of comfort and sounds like your DH is a good one, which is so important when you're struggling.

Can I just say, this: Turmeric coconut lattes, sound amazing! Do you but these or make your own as I am intrigued - both flavours I love so would be fascinated to know how they taste together!

Congrats to everyone who's going down and maintaining - this thread is such a positive in my day so thank you!

ComebackQueen · 16/03/2022 10:21

@129orbust oh thank you, I think I will try Leslie instead as I want to ensure what I’m doing is appropriate for my mum tum lol.

@SanFranBear I make them myself, I add coconut milk in a sauce pan and bring to boil. I then froth the milk with the nespresso aeroccino. I then add to my mug that has coffee and quarter teaspoon of coconut sugar, a teaspoon of EVO coconut oil (healthy fat) with a pinch of turmeric, too much and it becomes overpowering. I add a pinch of black pepper which makes turmeric work better. I then use cinnamon powder on top. You honestly can’t taste the turmeric nor the black pepper. Eventually I’ll cut the coconut and fruit sugar because the coconut milk is naturally sweet and it tastes lovely and very healthy too in comparison to my usual coffee.

2lbs lost this week

Crazzzycat · 16/03/2022 10:28

Well done on all those losses everyone! I weighed myself this morning and have lost 2 lbs this week. I ate a huge amount yesterday, which I kind of expected to happen. I’m not sure how I managed to register a loss, but I’ll take it 🙂

Welcome to the thread @ComebackQueen. Sounds like you have a good plan in place, but I’d echo what @SunshineCake1 says. If you’re struggling with your mental health, make sure you don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Lots of tasty, healthy food is the way to go. Your meal plan sounds great, just make sure you eat enough!

@TheRealHousewife your holiday pictures look amazing! What a great place to go for a short break.

TheRealHousewife · 16/03/2022 11:14

Thank you @Crazzzycat, it was an experience!

@SingaporeSlinky great loss, well done!

@8stone13 your BMI is right in the healthy range, well done!

@ComebackQueen I second Leslie. Even i can do some of her walking vids.

No loss but I'm okay about it. I didn't run as my ankle was sore and I think running every day might actually be stopping me losing. I've just spent an hour going through five recipe books and making a list of meals I can make with what ingredients we already have in.

Well done to everyone who has lost, stayed the same, gained and hasn't given up.

Gonnagetgoing · 16/03/2022 13:23

I think I've lost 2lb from 11 stone. God knows how. I've been eating Doritos Tomato Salsa with Manomasa Green Lemon and Pink Peppercorn tortilla chips, 2 x Kinder Bueno Light bars and potato salad with Quorn mini eggs for the past few days. Plus was out on Saturday night, had some veggie chilli dish with guacamole and flatbreads but couldn't eat all the flatbreads and had 2 x G&Ts but one with slimline tonic.

I did, though, when going through Farmers Market, didn't stop at the homemade cookies stall or anywhere else and though I bought those wafer biscuits with chocolate you get in cafes, didn't eat them so that helped a bit.

Weekend exercise with family splash with nephew which meant me kicking legs in pool and zero swimming done. Did a 20 minute run yesterday.

Funnily enough saw DM on Sunday and she mentioned I'd lost weight around stomach and my jeans which I thought would be too tight are fine.

@SunshineCake1 - with me recently I've been a bit down with work recently, not seeing my boyfriend (that's being rectified this week) and this tips me towards overeating.

But am trying to stay away from biscuits and cake etc.

Will add to my list of naughties - ate almost whole (but over a few days of Waitrose Ginger Cake) - last night's dinner was Pukka Pies mince and onion pie with small mashed potato with butter and spinach and mushrooms sauteed in butter. Had raspberries for snack. Today for lunch had Seven Seeds bread with Cathedral City light cheese and Branston pickle sandwich plus 4 small tomatoes, 1 x Slim a Soup Minestrone and 1 date with crunchy peanut butter for snack.

buzzofthebumblebee · 16/03/2022 14:02

More great losses this week @TheRealHousewife, @SingaporeSlinky, @Crazzzycat & @Gonnagetgoing - that's over half a stone between you! And agree that the more losses, the more motivating it is to stick with it.

I had a meme pop up on my insta feed today that couldn't have been more spot on for me at the moment. Will share incase it helps anyone else: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent".

SingaporeSlinky · 16/03/2022 14:04

Just updated my scales stats from mid January.

Body fat has gone down from 28% to 24.8%
BMI has gone from 25.1 to 22.3 so from just in the overweight range to now comfortably in the healthy range.

Gym class was a killer this morning, a different PT led the class and made us all use 5kg weights on each end of the barbell, saying “that’s not a request, it’s an order”. Really struggled with the overhead presses and had to keep stopping, but the rest was ok. I wouldn’t have been ok if it was my first session! He reminded us that ‘you’re here to push yourselves, that’s why you’re here’ which I guess is true. I’m going to feel it in the morning I suspect!

Lunch was Greek yoghurt, granola, raspberries, flax and chia seeds.
Dinner will be spicy caramelised pork mince and brown rice.
2 coffees and a green tea.

ImALittlePea · 16/03/2022 14:54

Golly! What a fast moving thread!

@TheRealHousewife your pictures look amazing, I'm glad you had a well deserved break and have started to shift the gain already.

Welcome @ComebackQueen I echo what others have said - please be gentle with yourself. I had PND after my daughter was born last year, and I found trying to get on top of my weight/size too big a pressure. Not that the same will happen with you, but sometimes our hopes turn into expectations that are too far a stretch, and not being able to achieve what we want to achieve for very good reason can become so detrimental. Having said that - I love your meal list and will certainly be stealing a few of those ideas to add to my (currently mundane) lunch rotation!

How is your family today @SunshineCake1?

To everyone else (too many to tag - apologies), congrats to everyone who has weighed in today, whatever the result. We're all on a journey and keeping ourselves accountable is a huge achievement in itself. I have to say, I've found myself feeling so supported by you all since joining, and I thank you all so much for that.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high for weigh in Friday, but so far this week my diet has been good. I even went to the farm shop today for ingredients for supper (a slow cooked veggie stew with homemade dumplings which apparently comes in at under 600 cals) and even though I dawdled by the deli/ hot food counter I resisted a single treat! I hadn't even eaten at that point, but I'm trying to get as much water down my neck as possible so that might be staving my hunger?

I also finished my final therapy session today. I'm officially no longer clinically depressed/suffering from anxiety. I still have symptoms of PTSD/CPTSD, but according to my therapist the score has dropped significantly and is well below the threshold for treatment. Now it's just a case of not going back there. But I feel positive about life in general at the moment, which is nice to have back.

SunshineCake1 · 16/03/2022 18:23

Hi @ImALittlePea. Still having moments of pure panic re dd but she's making plans for her summer off and seems oblivious to how we have felt. Dh is going to have a talk with her tonight about proper plans and real life...

TheRealHousewife · 16/03/2022 18:26

Evening All

@ImALittlePea thank you for your kind comments. Re loss:- I’m right on it! Measuring milk allowance out into separate bottle, portion control, logging absolutely everything. I would like to see the same loss next week 😬. Fantastic to read about your progress with counselling. Well done on your engagement, I know from experience the process isn’t easy ❤️

@SingaporeSlinky with numbers like that you have got a whole lot more Slinky 😬👏

@buzzofthebumblebee love your meme and I like it’s sentiment.

@Gonnagetgoing before I was diagnosed with being celiac I loved a chippy tea of chips, pukka pie & gravy. Utterly delicious 😋

@SunshineCake1 How’s things? ❤️

Tonight’s meal was very tasty 😋 Rather than Cauli rice I had buttered cabbage (only 5g butter and splash water)

Thank you @TheRealHousewife and @buzzofthebumblebee

That looks delish, I love butter on white cabbage!

SunshineCake1 · 16/03/2022 18:59

Hi @TheRealHousewife I love cabbage. Your dinner looks lovely. I've had crackers and cheese, five chips and some crisps Hmm. Planned to have chocolate but won't as not hungry. Will go on the treadmill tomorrow if not tonight.

DH has taken dd out to do some sport and he is going to talk about her plans. I've been feeling very anxious about her.

BaconAndAvocado · 16/03/2022 19:20

Hello all!
Can I join?
After having put on a stone last year, I've been trying to get back down to my original weight of 9st 6lb.

I've cut out snacks for 4 days a week then I relax at the weekends.

Still need to budge about 4 pounds.

ImALittlePea · 16/03/2022 19:28

I'm glad she's home and making plans to look forward to @SunshineCake1 I hope your DH has a positive conversation with her tonight

SingaporeSlinky · 16/03/2022 19:30

Hi @BaconAndAvocado!

TheRealHousewife · 16/03/2022 20:04

Welcome to the thread @BaconAndAvocado Reducing snacking is a step in the right direction. You’ll soon get 4lbs off.

@SunshineCake1 sounds positive. Try to not worry and take the opportunity to relax whilst dd & dh are out. Perhaps a nice bubble bath 🛀 I know it’s all easier said than done ❤️

SunshineCake1 · 16/03/2022 20:10

Dh tried to talk to her a little @ImALittlePea but of course she knows best. He will give her a few more days then have a more serious discussion with her.

I just made a card for a lady for Mother's Day @TheRealHousewife but I've come down to sit with SunshineDog and watch tv for a bit. I'm really tired so can't concentrate on cutting straight.

I'm exhausted. Emotional stress is tiring which I didn't expect.

BaconAndAvocado · 16/03/2022 21:19

Hi SingaporeSlinky!

Thanks TheRealHousewife yep, I was snacking far too much when at my heaviest.
But I still find it hard to have a cup of tea without a biscuit !
Watching the footie with a cup of spiced apple tea.......and no biscuit 😬

pennysays · 16/03/2022 22:16

Hi all. Back to home and work and routine again and my blood pressure is a bit lower today. Never thought I’d feel calmer getting back to the school run and work, currently 72.7kg… time to get into the 60’s.

I’m healed! My injury is better. A run with no problems today and a lovely lower back yoga cause I’ve been so tense recently. Playing sport again tomorrow and really looking forward to it but I am going to get thrashes as. I haven’t played since January!

Graphista · 17/03/2022 03:02

Just popping in to stick my head around the door. I'm still mid move and there's still a lot to do I don't think I'll get properly back in the swing until at least April possibly may so I've been thrown right off track for 50th but...

Hopped on scales for first time in AGES and pleasantly surprised to get the following result :

13 stone 3

Last time I weighed myself I was at 13 st 11 which really bummed me out that was I think mid to late January

That is even with eating habits all over the place with the move inc several dominos!

I'm going to try and not veer too far from that.

But whether I do or not I'm planning to get back to you guys 1st April and get back on track.

Wishing you all healthy lighter and happy blessings

SunshineCake1 · 17/03/2022 06:52

Hi @Graphista. lovely to see you and well done on a fantastic loss.

HouseofHolbein · 17/03/2022 07:22

Welcome back @Graphista! Missed you 😘

Anyway. Weighed in this morning at 9st 6.8lb. My initial goal is 9st 7lb 😊 not getting too excited… been here before 😂😂 so I’m going to see how I maintain this for the rest of the month and then see what happens.

In other news I have a job interview this morning 😱 sounds interesting still in walking distance although further away from home. Tbh the main thing that interests me about it is that it’s Monday to Friday 9-5 part time within those hours. I quite fancy having evenings and weekends and bank holidays off 😂😂 not sure they’ll offer me enough money tho.

I’m not desperate to move jobs I like what I do. But I saw this and thought I’d regret not applying so I did. Stuck the application in on Wednesday evening had a phone chat yesterday morning and an actual interview booked in for 11:45 😱
