I lost 10lb at the back end of last year… weighed myself this morning and I’ve put on just over 8lb over Christmas! I don’t even feel like I overate that much. I blame the baileys.

Anyway, today is a new start, going to get that weight back off and lose another stone on top.

MFP is my friend again and today shall be somewhat of a fasting day as I’ve got so much to do and feel horribly bloated.
Day 4 of no alcohol, going to keep that going for as long as possible as it’s empty calories and my evening wine was becoming far too much.

SW - 10st 8.8lb
GW - 9st

Goal weight for now is back to 10st.

Feel free to join or at least wish me luck 😬

Fantastic ladies!! Well done!

@Wednesdayafternoon great loss since Monday!

@SingaporeSlinky speaking from personal experience, I would up your cals.
You’re the same height and weight as me and I can still lose on around 1500 (probably more but then I’d need to be ridiculously active).
You don’t want your hair and skin to suffer! I know it’s really tempting to go very low calorie and lose the weight quickly, but your body will act out in other ways.
When my hair started thinning I was gutted, and I ended up thinking to myself ‘well, I’d rather be chubby with nice hair than slim & bald!’ 😆
I bet you’re more active than you think. You’re a sahm but that’s still a busy job, I’m never off my feet, there’s always cleaning and shopping to be done. Could you squeeze in a walk after the school run? That’s what I do otherwise I’d never do it, I think well I’m out now, may as well keep going.

How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?

Wow well done Wednesdayafternoon!

SingaporeSlinky · 14/01/2022 09:37

Mrs H I’m 40
Yes I should be walking more. I planned to walk to the supermarket yesterday, it’s less than 15 mins away but I didn’t think I’d manage to carry everything so I drove. The rest of the day I basically sat around watching daytime tv 🙄
I need to run some errands today so will be walking a bit more. I think I’ll have a bigger lunch. I’m past the point of craving snacks, and am enjoying the thought of actually leaving a gap in between meals, rather than constantly snacking and never giving my digestive system a break. But yes, I don’t want to under eat and cause other problems.

SingaporeSlinky · 14/01/2022 13:22

Urgh, more breakout than yesterday, this is annoying! Big red, angry looking spots along my jawline.

On the positive, just had a whole chopped mango with leafy salad and a small amount of dressing, and I actually am enjoying my meals because I’m hungry, for a start. But appreciating it as a healthy input into my body. I know that sounds corny, but I would normally inhale a few bags of crisps and not feel satisfied, and of course crave even more. Actually being mindful that I’m eating a healthy meal felt good.

TalkToTheHand123 · 15/01/2022 07:41

Ended up on a long walk yesterday and needed a good stretch, reminding me how I enjoyed a good stretch, so have been dong a bit stretching lately which seems to speed up my metabolism too. It's nice, easy and convenien almost anywhere.

Have some lemons to add to my water so seem to be detoxing a bit too so quite pleased recently.

SingaporeSlinky · 15/01/2022 08:10

I’m enjoying my mug of hot water with lemon every day. I’ve stuck to one coffee per day all week, and one green tea too.
Down another pound today, so 4 lbs since last week.

Wednesdayafternoon · 15/01/2022 08:33

So I've downloaded my fitnes app and Inputted my breakfast (special k and half a grapefruit) and now I only have 797 calories for the rest of the day! Feeling stressed 😅🙈
And very low cal meal suggestion 😬😬😬

SingaporeSlinky · 15/01/2022 08:49

What’s your daily calorie allowance Wednesdayafternoon?
That sounds like a lot of calories, did you weigh your portion? Maybe special K is high in sugar? I found with a lot of cereals I assumed were healthy, they were actually laden with sugar because of the dried fruit etc.

My dinners are usually around 400 cals I think, so you could still come within your plan, just input what you plan to have now, then you’ll know what you have left for lunch and snacks.

Hedonism · 15/01/2022 15:30

I've been for a run this morning and had a turkey salad for lunch. This evening we are going out for a curry though... I need to check the menu in advance and stay away from the naan bread!

SingaporeSlinky · 16/01/2022 08:14

Morning all, not the healthiest day yesterday as I had no fruit or veg at all! I meant to have a banana in the morning and forgot, and was rushing around doing various things. Lunch had to be quick so just made toast with butter and dinner was sausages and oven chips. I should have added something green to dinner, but was being lazy and I was still within my calories for the day.

Scales say 10st 3 again today.

I also had forgotten my scales measure body fat, water and BMI so I did that last night and I’m 28% body fat and 24.3 BMI

I know they’re not completely accurate, but a good indication.

How’s everyone else doing?

TalkToTheHand123 · 16/01/2022 09:50

Haven't weighed myelf recently, presuming same weight. Have been quite active last few days though and fairly early night last night. Aiming for a run on the nintendo wii tonight and may weigh myself on the board.

Wednesdayafternoon · 16/01/2022 10:23

Hi guys, you're right I think my breakfast calorie was too high. I do have a 60g portion but I feel I need that in the morning, but once you add the milk and the half a grapefruit the calories start stacking! I need to have a fresh start on Monday and try this calorie counting and find a lower value cereal 🙈 My weak times tend to be 10-3 so I need a breakfast and dinner which is going to tie me over!
I'm not weighing myself. I've had a bad week with a lot going on so I'm just going to stay fresh tomorrow. Sorry for being flakey guys, I am going to get on it tomorrow!

KimmyKimdoo · 16/01/2022 10:37

Right, weekend so far! Very busy one - one the go and walking lots.

Saturday Breakfast - skipped the usual breakfast, took DCs to their sat morning club and waited in the cafe over the road as always. Treated myself to an oat milk flat white and a slice of orange polenta cake. Delicious!

Lunch - gf flapjack on the go.

Dinner out - charcuterie starter (meats, nuts and olives only); lamb shank with root mash and red wine jus. One large G&T and then sparkling water with the meal. Had an amaretto sour in lieu of dessert.

Amazing night!!!

Sunday breakfast - two waffles and an oat milk coffee (bit hungover 😂).

Lunch - I’ll be having a fruit pot (grapes and berries) on the go. Packed a pepperami too!

Dinner - this will be crispy pork belly with apple sauce dip. Lots of green veg.

Not amazingly healthy but really really good for me!! My weekends are usually a lot worse (full of snacks) so I’m pleased. Hope you’re all having a good weekend too ladies!!!

Campervan69 · 16/01/2022 13:25

Terrible weekend so far. Am starting again today.

SingaporeSlinky · 16/01/2022 13:52

I think weekends are hard aren’t they, your routine goes out of the window because you’re not working, usually, and possibly socialising, or takeaways, feeling like you’d like (or deserve) a treat.

I’ve managed ok, wish I’d planned meals a bit better. Kids wanted waffles for lunch so I joined them but only a small amount. Just a banana for breakfast and a healthy dinner later. Not even craving snacks and been under calorie allowance all week, including weekend.

Bought a new dress for my holiday yesterday in the sale, very floaty maxi dress, but I think it looked quite nice and I felt confident in it, so I was pleased with that. If I can keep on track I think I’ll actually do this!

anotherbrewplease · 17/01/2022 07:24

Morning all - sounds like you're all making great progress!

I've weighed in this morning and lost a total of 1lb - urghhh - my downfall is at work when I do a 12 hour shift and there are chocolates/biscuits on a constant supply. There's no way I just have one....the rest is history.

I guess at least it's one pound down rather than a pound up (!_) So fresh start again for me this week and I will weigh in again next Monday.

Original weight - 10 stone 7 lbs
Weight today - 10 stone 6 lbs

Wednesdayafternoon · 17/01/2022 08:11

Hi all! Just sharing my plan today for day 1 of calorie counting! Feeling excited but nervous about how little I seem to be able to fit in. Not going to be negative though, this time tomorrow I'm going to feel 100% better about myself :)

Any tips much appreciated!

Wednesdayafternoon · 17/01/2022 09:40

@anotherbrewplease well done on your loss! Just imagine if you hadn't of started, you would probably be a pound up so in hindsight you've lost more 🙈

I ended up having a big dominoes last night. Yesterday I completed my application for my divorce, so the diet was completely off the table yesterday. Ha ha. I'm okay, it is what it is, happy to move on. I am feeling motivated today. I know today is going to be difficult because it's the come down of a greedy weekend. So I am feeling a bit anxious about feeling shakey today. I know when I get today over and done with, and perhaps tomorrow as well, I will be feeling a lot better about everything. Anyway my weight this morning sounds massive, but I know that it's mainly down to the dominoes!

So anyway starting fresh today, 10st13, goal 10stone.

Gonna weigh on Wednesday 🥰

SingaporeSlinky · 17/01/2022 09:43

Morning all, stuck at 10st 3 but I’m hoping to drop another pound or two this week as I’ve been really good. I actually looked back on what I’d been logging on MFP last time I lost weight and was quite shocked to see lots of crisps and chocolate creeping in as I went on. Some days I’d had 2 packets of crisps, and then a few biscuits or a few squares of chocolate. So I need to make sure that doesn’t creep in this time. I felt so good on holiday after losing 1st 5, and said at the time I wish I’d started sooner, to lose a bit more. Looking back now, if I’d just been stricter I could have cut out quite a lot more. I think I must have told myself that because I was usually within my 1200 cals for the day, it was still fine. But looking at the sugar intake and lack of good nutrients, it was silly really. Skipping breakfast and then having even 2 custard creams (as I see I did a few times) is probably how I fell back into old habits once the holiday was over.

Hoping you’ve all had a lovely weekend, and let’s have a healthy week ahead!

MrsHippopotamus · 17/01/2022 09:44

Morning all… I went a bit awol over the weekend, apologies.

It all began when I made a batch of brownies Friday afternoon (for the kids 😜) and it all went a bit downhill from there. Not a really terrible weekend but not great and I didn’t track my cals 🙈

So here I am, back again. I’ve reset MFP to 1200 calories a day. This is a bit low for me but I need to spend a couple of weeks resetting. Too many sweet treats are sneaking in when I have more cals and I don’t want that.
Didn’t have time to weigh in this morning so I’m planning to have a good two days and weigh Wednesday morning.

Feel a bit bloated this morning so I’m not going to eat just yet.
I’ve got Cajun chicken breast with salad & new potatoes for dinner. Perhaps some grapes. Tea & biscuits possibly this evening. I buy nairns gluten free oat biscuits and they come in a little packet of 4 so they’re great for portion control, 192 cals.

So anyway, another Monday reset, really need to get a hold of myself.
I’m getting married in June… can you all shout at me to stay on track please!

Wednesdayafternoon I was typing when you posted. Sorry to hear about your divorce. Sounds like you’ve got a good meal plan for today, so onwards and upwards! I read the other day that Mondays are the worst day for weighing in, as most people eat differently at the weekends, and if they have a ‘cheat day’, it’s usually then, so you’ll be heavier on the Monday and potentially carrying extra water weight. I’m sure you’ll notice a difference on Wednesday.

MrsHippopotamus · 17/01/2022 09:48

@Wednesdayafternoon your menu sounds delicious today!

I cross posted with your last post. Sorry to hear of your divorce… and here I am casually throwing in to conversation about getting married 🤦‍♀️

@SingaporeSlinky I can relate so much to your posts. When I look back on MFP I did exactly the same.
I don’t want to just be slim, I want to look good and the only way I’m going to do that is to focus on nutrition and not how much junk food I can fit into my cals.

Not sure how much exercise I’ll manage today. I really buggered up my tricep over the weekend and I could barely lift my arm. Will have to focus on lower body instead!

Mrs H, it’s funny looking back isn’t it. I thought I did really well, but as time went on, I can see exactly what I did. Some days I was having crisps, and chocolate, and one of those crunch corner yoghurts with the little chocolate balls to mix in. The yoghurt was logged at 213 cals alone, which is crazy, and probably the sugar in it made me crave more. So even though I had a salad for lunch, and kept to 1200, it’s not a healthy diet is it.

Wednesdayafternoon · 17/01/2022 10:01

@MrsHippopotamus @SingaporeSlinky

Aww thank you both. Regarding the divorce we've been separated 2 years so it's really ok, just admin I suppose but I wasn't on the mood to diet and just felt today is like a new start :)

Mfp suggests 1200 for me too but I do feel I'm really scrapping the barrel. Maybe I'll increase to 1300 next week as I'd like to have a. It extra for more fruit and salad!

Yes today's weight will be off BUT it'll make my loss seem greater on weds!

@MrsHippopotamus you're doing amazing and how exciting having a wedding to look forward to and motivate you :) The best way to stay on track is to have a little treat here and there I think, give the metabolism a shock!

SingaporeSlinky · 17/01/2022 10:10

Yes congratulations MrsH!
I’d say to try and save those biscuits for an evening when you really need them, actually. I’ve been having dinner around 5.30-6pm every day and then literally nothing after that, just a drink. My stomach sometimes rumbles by bedtime at around 10pm but not excessively, and it’s happening less and less now. But I’d consider an evening snack as a treat, and just do it maybe once a week, if you can.
