I lost 10lb at the back end of last year… weighed myself this morning and I’ve put on just over 8lb over Christmas! I don’t even feel like I overate that much. I blame the baileys.

Anyway, today is a new start, going to get that weight back off and lose another stone on top.

MFP is my friend again and today shall be somewhat of a fasting day as I’ve got so much to do and feel horribly bloated.
Day 4 of no alcohol, going to keep that going for as long as possible as it’s empty calories and my evening wine was becoming far too much.

SW - 10st 8.8lb
GW - 9st

Goal weight for now is back to 10st.

Feel free to join or at least wish me luck 😬

@anotherbrewplease yes! We can do this!

Can completely relate to starting on something delicious and not stopping… why is it so easy to put on the weight but seems to take forever to get it back off??

But never mind, we’ve all decided to make the change. I’m looking forward to my clothes feeling a bit looser again!

Morning all. Fresh week. Let’s do this!
I am focussed today. Coffee for breakfast, but I will try and make that my only one today. Green tea for the rest, and water. I actually hate water but i know squash isn’t great in terms of the chemicals they use.

I used to think I could only eat salads in summer too, but of course all of the ‘comfort’ foods are so heavy. Last week I had a salad with olives and some walnuts and dressing and it was delicious.

I agree about crisps, if you log it, you think well that basically cancels out my exercise. It’s just easier to not eat them in the first place.

MrsHippopotamus · 11/01/2022 08:38

Morning all! Bloody good day yesterday 👍 proud of myself! ☺️

Ate well and got in a good bit of exercise.
Scales are showing 10st 6.4… not great but I did have quite a bad weekend so…

Treadmill workout planned for today. Although I’m aching a bit after yesterday. Want to keep going now I’ve found a bit of motivation though!

Hope you’re all chugging along! Just think of the summer months… we always wish we’d started sooner!

@MrsHippopotamus yessss well done you!!! ♥️♥️♥️

Campervan69 · 11/01/2022 10:04

MrsHippopotamus nicely done ✔

How do people cope with nights out? Have a meal/drinks with the girls on Friday. They always get messy. Then I'm rough the next day and overeat and it all goes downhill. How do I keep myself on track?

MrsHippopotamus · 11/01/2022 10:44

Thanks guys ☺️ Lovely of you to give me support, really appreciate it!

@Campervan69 Do you know where you’re going to eat on Friday? I always look ahead at the menu online and have it all planned out in my head. I try to have lighter meals during the day so I can have a nice evening meal.
Are you wanting to drink alcohol? I’m doing dry January. Maybe you could tell your friends you’re off the booze for a month? If you want to that is.

I’m afraid I don’t have any advice in regards to drinking… it all goes downhill after a few wines! So the only thing I can say is stick to sparkling water Grin

Well done MrsH
I keep wavering. Why is it so hard?? I know what I need to do, but keep reaching for a twix. You’re right, you do end up wishing you’d started sooner. Last time I lost the weight I wanted and then felt absolutely fantastic, and loved getting compliments. When my holiday came, I felt so good, and remember thinking if only I’d started even sooner, I’d have lost even more.

I’m not quite in the zone yet, but I really want to get there!

Campervan69 - my only advice for a night out is to enjoy it, eat what you want, but absolutely get back on track straight away the next day. Don’t use a hangover as an excuse to eat junk. From the morning drink loads of water, and get right back on it.

SingaporeSlinky · 11/01/2022 16:54

Need to get exercising too. What I used to do was wear my workout gear for the morning school run, then it kind of forced me to do something, even if it was a brisk walk. Getting changed out of the gear without having done anything just felt silly.

Today I’ve had 2 coffees, a banana, green tea, crackerbread with butter, and yes, a twix. Lasagne (small portion) for dinner. Went shopping today and bought lots of fruit and veg for the week so I will try and have a really good day tomorrow, and weigh in.

KimmyKimdoo · 11/01/2022 17:01

Hi all! I couldn’t face the thread yesterday after a terrible weekend. Feel so bad about myself when I eat crap. I’m really good all week and then just blow out at the weekend! That’s got to stop.

Today I’ve had a small bowl of porridge and berries for breakfast. Then an apple mid-morning. Half a jacket potato with spicy chicken for lunch and around 4pm had a quick snack of two rice cakes with humous, saucisson and pepper slices. About 8pm I’m just having a cod fillet and green beans with DH.

I’m drinking lots of water too! Could be better but not as bad as it has been. Only have a tiny bit to lose but it’s always the hardest isn’t it!

SingaporeSlinky · 11/01/2022 17:10

Hi Kimmy, don’t feel bad! There’s no judgement here, just trying to help each other. I find at the weekends I just try and reduce portion sizes, which can help. If I know I’m having a roast dinner for example, I’ll just make sure to have a sensible amount of roast potatoes for example, not my usual 4 or 5, and don’t drown my plate in salty gravy. I also skip lunch that day, to save my calories and enjoy the roast in late afternoon.

KimmyKimdoo · 11/01/2022 17:16

@SingaporeSlinky ye you’re right about portion control. I have a weekend mentality- it’s fine because it’s the weekend!! I will definitely be planning for this weekend so I can feel more prepared. We do have big family meals, including a roast dinner so maybe I should be adjusting/ skipping other meals in the day. I’ll have a really good think about it. If it’s not right, I will just keep i BFF snacking ha!!! I’m a weekend snack monster!

KimmyKimdoo · 11/01/2022 17:16

I didn’t mean BFF 🤣

TalkToTheHand123 · 11/01/2022 17:29

I've had soup, tub of veg, a tub of salad, 4 slices of brown bread and a banana so far. Some fish and cauliflower cheese for later and whatever I can stuff my face with!

Quite good considering others around me were eating takeaway food.

MrsHippopotamus · 11/01/2022 17:35

@SingaporeSlinky eat your twix and enjoy it! I still allow myself a daily treat, whether it’s tea & biscuits, a chocolate bar or bag of crisps.
I can’t cut everything I enjoy out, it’s just not going to work.
As long as I’m not falling face first down into a whole chocolate gateaux to myself, it’s fine Grin

@KimmyKimdoo I think we all had a bit of a wobbly weekend food wise! Not to worry, all we can do is try again.
I don’t mind having a couple of piggy days. My problem is those days tend to turn into months! So as long as I start again, all is good.

I restarted c25k on the treadmill today. Forced myself tbh, my arse is absolutely killing me after my workout yesterday.
But, I did it!
I’m exhausted now though.

MrsHippopotamus · 11/01/2022 17:38

@TalkToTheHand123 you’ve had a very healthy day! I love cauliflower cheese. No one else likes it in my house so I don’t tend to make it often. Weirdos.

Saved enough cals for some snacks later, can’t wait to put the kids to bed and put my feet up! Feels like a very long week already. Started watching ‘Stay close’ on Netflix so that’s the plan for this evening.
Netflix & snacks Grin

SingaporeSlinky · 11/01/2022 17:43

Well done again Mrs H! I’m hoping your motivation rubs off on me!
I think the reason I’m hard on myself about the twix is that I really want to get myself back to the point of only having treats once in a while, not every day. Ive got a stone to lose in the next few months, and as soon as I’ve finished the chocolate I just think ‘why did I eat that?.

SingaporeSlinky · 11/01/2022 18:36

By the way Kimmy, your meals sound delicious. Roast chicken with lemon and thyme sounds so yummy! And thanks for mentioning hot water with lemon, I had some lemons in the fridge so I’ve just juiced one and added half to a mug of hot water. So refreshing. Silly question, but how much lemon do you use? I’ve added some cold water to the rest of the juice and put it in the fridge to use tomorrow. Assume it should be fine that way?

Hedonism · 11/01/2022 18:52

Hello, can I jump in with you lot please?

I am following the healthy eating plan in the January Good Food magazine this week in an attempt to reset my habits. I'm on day 2 and already thinking about cake A LOT Blush

I weighed in at 64kg today, I'd like to get back down to 60kg.

SingaporeSlinky · 11/01/2022 19:12

Welcome Hedonism.
Are you exercising too or just adjusting what you eat?

Hedonism · 11/01/2022 20:34

@SingaporeSlinky

Welcome Hedonism. Are you exercising too or just adjusting what you eat?
Thank you Smile

I usually run 3-4 times a week, but slacked off a bit in December, and then had COVID over new year and wasn't allowed out! So I'm trying to get back into the habit of that too.

KimmyKimdoo · 11/01/2022 20:59

@SingaporeSlinky ah thanks! Yes hot water and lemon or lime is lovely! I chop a lemon into quarters, squeeze two into the cup and then throw them both in the cup, fill up with hot water and leave them in there for two minutes while the water cools enough to drink. It’s really lovely!

MrsHippopotamus · 11/01/2022 21:46

@Hedonism welcome! I’m sure you’ll be able to get that 4kg off in no time!

I’m trying to get back in to exercising too… I’m not a fan of it and find it incredibly difficult to get back in to it after a break.
I’m thinking about what exercises to do tomorrow. Perhaps a short strength work out. I’ve just washed my hair so don’t want to do anything too sweaty 😆

I did a Pilates workout for the first time ever yesterday. Only a short 10 minute one on apple fitness… I actually really liked it! Very gentle.

Good day food wise today. Salad for dinner with firecracker chicken, was lovely. Tea & biscuits as my evening snack.
OH has gone to bed so I have the tv to myself for a while… just need to make sure I don’t end up mindlessly snacking!

SingaporeSlinky · 11/01/2022 21:55

Anyone else weighing in tomorrow? My stomach is rumbling but I’m off to sleep soon so I hope I magically burn a ton of calories in the night and drop a few lbs 😀

MrsHippopotamus · 11/01/2022 21:58

Yes, I’ll do a morning weigh in…. Not expecting a miracle though!

OP posts:
SingaporeSlinky · 11/01/2022 22:07

Me either. I wasn’t particularly careful with my initial weigh in (just did it randomly, rather than first thing in the morning, trying to make myself as light as possible before getting dressed etc) so any loss could just be down to that.
Think light thoughts, think light thoughts lol
