Accountability - three stone needs to go

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 19:49

Stood on the scales today - I have gained three stone since 2019. None of my clothes fit and I feel really unfit - can’t even touch my toes!

So today is day one. I have walked 17,000 steps and eaten 1500 calories. No booze and no chocolate.

History of ED so need to be sensible.

Goal is to eat less and walk every day. Treadmill ordered.

How did you get on @Jeds55 ? Hope you found an alternative to chocolate.

I'm doing ok, managing either 5,000 steps and a swim or 10k steps a day. The dog is delighted 😄 (and so is DH as he can now skip one of the daily walks, skinny sod).

Trying to keep fairly low carb for breakfast and lunch so I can have a carb serving with family evening meal. Don't want teen to pick up on any issues.

Although I did have a delicious slice of sourdough with avocado and tomato at lunch today in a cafe (friend meetup). I didn't have cake afterwards which is quite a notable event for me Grin

Mellowyellow222 · 21/01/2022 16:48

Nearly three weeks done! I am starting to get into a routine with food, and adjusting to smaller portions.

Period stated to day so feeling bloated and hungry, also have been invited to a friends over the weekend for Dinner. I have a habit of avoiding social settings when I am trying to lose weight, but not being that restrictive this time. Will just keep portions small and not drink wine.

Sorry you are struggling Jeds55. Hopefully today was easier,

Thanks @Silversprinkles and @Mellowyellow222 unfortunately I did blow the diet and eat not only chocolate but cake and cheese too. Of course it didn't make me any less knackered or any more able to cope! Must remember that next time. Positives are that I've got back on it today- in days gone by I'd definitely have thought that may aswell restart diet on Sunday/Monday rather than a Fri. It was my planned relaxed day today so will try to just go very easy now.
Well done on the no cake @Silversprinkles, I love sourdough bread. Hope you enjoy the meal and find the right balance @Mellowyellow222
Good luck for those weighing in tomorrow. I may do so just to try limit the damage tomorrow.

Hello. I saw this thread a few weeks back and it gave me the push I needed to start addressing my additional baggage! Also 3/3.5 stone. Thank you @Mellowyellow222 Flowers

A friend mentioned walking desks and I've bought a standing desk platform and a flat treadmill for under the desk (my desk is actually my kitchen table though Grin) and I have been walking whilst working. Surprisingly straightforward and doesn't impact concentration etc, my daily average steps over the last 4 weeks are 14,700. I'm only aiming for 10,000 but honestly it's so easy I just keep going. I only work til 2.30 and if I've done 12,000 by then (easy unless I've been on the phone a lot, I don't tend to walk at the same time as a meeting) I know that the rest of the day with school run, household chores etc, 15,000 just happens. I've lost 8.5lbs and made only minor tweaks to my diet- I'm basically doing what Michael Palin said- "move more, eat less-mostly plants"

Having approx 1700 calories a day. Monday is weigh day so I will so how it goes this week, happy with slow and steady even if it does mean I need new trainers already!

PaganQueen · 22/01/2022 09:38

@BugBeingBold, it's bloody hard work recovering from ED. So Flowers for being able to do that!
Do you think you are still experiencing from disordered eating? I say this as someone who went through a couple of long bulimic periods, I didnt know what sensible eating was. After I'd addressed the binge/purge cycle issues (took a while!), my doctor recommended Slimming World because whilst it is of course designed for people wanting to lose weight, it's actually v sensible and the easy approach to portions/mix of protein vs carbs vs fats etc is realistic. It taught me what "normal", regular, every-day eating looks like. (I still can't achieve it without concentration but at least I have a blueprint!)

I'm sticking to the principles at the moment and its really helping.

Weight and ED are a combustible mix aren't they Grin

Disappointed this week, I had one meal out but still stayed within my calories and have been u set every day but I guess I will have good losses and bad losses.

Need to get my steps in this week, I really felt low energy this past week.

Stargazer89 · 22/01/2022 10:53

Hi everyone I haven’t lost anything this week! fallen off the wagon a bit but going to try and get back on. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Mellowyellow222 · 22/01/2022 11:05

@Stargazer89 it’s only one week! Easy to draw a line on it and move one.

It’s a new week.

My weight loss has been slower than I hoped - but I had unrealistic expectations. People talk about huge weekly weight loss in the first weeks and I was hoping for that.

But I already feel better about myself - no binging so far in 2022 - no feeing disgusted at myself. I even have some trigger foods in the house and I have been able to snack sensibly.

My parents are a huge trigger for me - they make me feel rubbish about my weight. Seeing them Tomorrow for dinner - there will be lots of high fat high calorie food on offer and then comments if I eat it - exchanged glances and smug smiles and nods if I say no thank you.

But I will try and ignore it then feel rage for a few days afterwards

TaggieWeightLoss · 22/01/2022 19:21

Well done everybody! And welcome to the new people!

@Stargazer89 - try not to be discouraged. We all fall off the wagon from time to time for very good reasons. Sometimes a break gives a very welcome metabolism boost! You’re still here, and next week is a new week.

@Mellowyellow222 - sorry to hear about your parents. Good luck tomorrow!

Weigh in day:
Start weight on 7/12/2021: 14 stone 12
Current weight: 13 stone 6
Goal weight: 11 stone 5

20 lbs lost (3 lbs this week)

Stargazer89 · 22/01/2022 22:57

thank you guys!
you have done so well and def motivated me for next week.
I think i have been extra hungry/hormonal because i have had/having a chemical pregnancy. had a MC in november and recently just felt pregnant. Had a couple of positive tests but more negatives so didn’t allow myself to get excited. Bleeding now so it’s pretty much confirmed what i thought. Back on diet on Monday!! Determined to be thinner and healthier for next pregnancy xx

Stargazer89 · 22/01/2022 22:57

@Mellowyellow222 hope to goes well with parents. i know how you feel because that all sounds so familiar xx

Silversprinkles · 23/01/2022 00:13

I'm sorry to hear the news about your pregnancy stargazer I hope you're coping ok

Saturday Weigh In

SW 13 stone 10
CW 13 stone 4
GW 11 stone 10

Weight loss this week 2lbs

Next week is going to be more tricky as I have more social things on but my plan is to eat healthy where I can, drink lots of water and keep up the movement.

Jeds55 · 23/01/2022 09:39

@Stargazer89 so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I've been there many times before so I know the toll it takes on your mental and physical health. Allow yourself to grieve and feel however you feel x

Jeds55 · 23/01/2022 09:41

Well done on the losses all. Any movement downwards is a success. I'll be amazed if I get anything but a movement upwards this week as let diet go on Thurs and yesterday. Back on it today.

Jeds55 · 23/01/2022 09:42

Also I'm not sure if others were putting on weight weekly prior to the diet so I'm taking a stay the same as a success too as withoutcthe diet I'd be gaining each week. I'll weigh tomorrow

Mellowyellow222 · 23/01/2022 09:43

@Stargazer89 I am so sorry you are going though this. It must be so tough.

OP posts:
Stargazer89 · 23/01/2022 11:22

Thanks everyone. I’m fine and we have a beautiful 18 month old already so incredibly lucky as it is. Off the diet over the weekend but back to it tomorrow but I will be amazed if i manage a loss by saturday but I really want at least a pound to finally have a half a stone loss.
How do you all stay on track when socialising?

liliainterfrutices · 23/01/2022 12:29

Ah, I’m sorry, stargazer. Sounds like you’ve had a very difficult time. I think it’s only human not to think about dieting at such times.
I went out for dinner last night and had the Pizza Express Leggera, which was divine, and only 510 cals! And I just drank water.
Down one stone from NYE, but still got 3 stone and 3lbs to go to get to healthy weight.

Mellowyellow222 · 23/01/2022 13:03

On socialising - last night for first experience during this weight loss stint.

I have decided I am not going to miss out - last night I enjoyed a Chinese and only had half a slice of the cheesecake instead of a full slice. I also didn’t nibble on the crisps etc laid out.

I had a great night, caught up with friends and probably had around 1,000 more calories than usual. But it takes much more than than to put on 1lb so it’s okay!!

Big walk this morning, lots of water and back to the normal routine.

I will get obsessive if I’m not careful - and I will be miserable!

OP posts:
TaggieWeightLoss · 23/01/2022 14:20

Oh - I’m so sorry to hear about your losses @Stargazer89 - be kind to yourself.

I’m with you @Mellowyellow222 on the attitude to socialising. Sadly I don’t get many opportunities so I just go with the flow and plan a super healthy day the day after

Well done everyone on the losses/maintenance and for sticking with it. I’m a pound up today for no good reason, but not letting it get me down!

Mellowyellow222 · 23/01/2022 16:21

Trigger day - had lunch with my parents.

A lot of talk about diets, what their fronds weight, who has put on weight, the fact that we all need to lose weight, then meaningful looks at me.

I had counselling many years ago about this and I leave when it gets too much. They never seem to notice why! So I made my excuses and left. Feeling a bit crap about myself but I won’t let it derail my healthy eating. A couple of years ago I would have binged after this type of encounter.

OP posts:
Silversprinkles · 23/01/2022 16:31

God your parents sound so toxic, that's awful. My weight has gone up and down a lot over the years but my parents never said anything except to check I was well and looking after myself. (Both skinny War babies who have never had weight issues but were totally kind).

Mellowyellow222 · 23/01/2022 19:18

Finishing today on 1196 calories and 9,100 steps.

Booking a holiday for first week in May so that is a reasonable target to be under 11st. Then I will be able to appear in photos without feeling depressed!!

I am a complicated mess of a person 😂😂😂

OP posts:
TaggieWeightLoss · 24/01/2022 19:08

Small win today! I can wear my engagement ring again. It has got too tight and I was going to have it altered but hadn’t got round to it.

Also, Weight loss back on track after that weird gain. Perils of daily weighing

Hope everyone is doing ok.
