Accountability - three stone needs to go

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 19:49

Stood on the scales today - I have gained three stone since 2019. None of my clothes fit and I feel really unfit - can’t even touch my toes!

So today is day one. I have walked 17,000 steps and eaten 1500 calories. No booze and no chocolate.

History of ED so need to be sensible.

Goal is to eat less and walk every day. Treadmill ordered.

Weigh in day:
Start weight on 7/12/2021: 14 stone 12
Current weight: 13 stone 10
Goal weight: 11 stone 5

16 lbs lost (2 lbs this week)

Well done @Mellowyellow222 and good luck to everyone else. And welcome to new people!

Samiamnot · 15/01/2022 07:36

Hi everyone, can I join? I started NYD at 13.13 stone and down 6.2lbs by keeping under 1500 cal each day. I'm using nutracheck to log my meals. Really pleased with progress and been weighing daily for the most part.

Just started my period though and I'm reluctant to weigh in the first few days as I'm sure the scales won't show me what I want. I also get bad cramps and bloating in tje first few days. What do you all experience re weight loss when you're on your period?

Stargazer89 · 15/01/2022 07:53

Well done everyone,

I lost 1pound this week which i am pleased about because i have been pretty inconsistent.

start weight: 14stone 5
Current weight:13 stone 13
Goal weight: 11 stone 7 depending on how I go i might make this lower)

Total loss: 6lbs
Left to lose: 2stone 6

@Samiamnot welcome, sounds like you are off to a good start already. with regards to period, I always tend to be at my heaviest in week leading up to my period and then feel much better and less bloated after day 2!!

My Targets for next week:
Drink more water
meal plan
up my steps

dancemom · 15/01/2022 11:08

Chakraleaf · 15/01/2022 13:12

I stayed the same x

Josette77 · 15/01/2022 15:04

I really struggled with weighing in this morning. I debated back and forth on skipping it... I have endometriosis and I'm about to get my period and I am crazy bloated.
I decided to hop on and be kind to myself no matter what the scale said and low and behold even with my bloating I have lost 2 lbs!

Starting weight 132.
Currently 127.4

More importantly, this week challenged me. I have a history of anorexia and it reared it's ugly head as I contemplated just not eating and losing the weight quickly.

This is the first time as an adult I have gained extra weight. My endometriosis is why I want to lose it. So I really had to figure out healthier ways.
I cooked more, ate more veggies, did not deprive myself, and cancelled the 5 km run.
I don't like running anymore and my body struggles with old dancer injuries.
So instead I kept up my yoga and walking the dog and my body and mind feel healthy and strong. I'm proud of myself for putting me first and not just a number on the scale.

Mellowyellow222 · 15/01/2022 19:03

Finishing today at 1332 calories. Over my 1200 limit but it’s the weekend!

Feeing a bit down because I didn’t lose as much weight as I had hoped this week - but tomorrow is another day.

Hardtofindafreename · 15/01/2022 20:22

I start every morning with hot water and a slice of lemon as I'm geting myself organized and then have breakfast of weetabix with a sprinkle of granola and sultanas. Sometimes I'll have a low sugar low cal yoghurt as well.

AhThisAgain · 16/01/2022 09:18

Breakfast : either porridge, or one soft boiled egg with a scrape of butter, salt and pepper. And coffee.

Will have a snack later if I need it but can mostly go until 1pm lunch.

ThinWomansBrain · 16/01/2022 17:23

congratulations to everyone that's lost weight - frustatingly, my weight stayed the same.
A couple of meals out - but reasonably sensible choices,
Sticking at it still.

ThinWomansBrain · 16/01/2022 17:37

Did anyone hear the food program on Radio 4 at lunchtime?
It was about keto diets.
Interestingly, a research program that was run with meal replacements a year or two ago has been translated into "real food" - it happens to be exactly the short term fast weight loss diet that I'd worked out for myself - but not quite started yetHmm - I've mostly been doing the porridge breakfast and lentil soup lunch, but eating a low carb meal in the evening.
I've got most shopping and meals in for the week ahead, but definitely going to start next week. They estimate that it's perfectly safe to do for 12 weeks.

@ThinWomansBrain no but I will try and download it.

Went out for dinner - think I had about 1600 calories today which is well above my usual target, but I will skip a few treats this week to make up for it.

Mellowyellow222 · 17/01/2022 20:33

Finishing today on 1212 calories but very few steps!

Exhausted so will be an early night. I am. Hoping once this month is over it will get easier and I will start to see a difference

OP posts:
Stargazer89 · 18/01/2022 18:47

finishing today on 1400 but steps are low!
Done a food shop so going to attempt to pre prep some healthy meals.
@Mellowyellow222 hopefully you are right about getting this month over with, I think once I start noticing a difference I will be much more motivated

TaggieWeightLoss · 18/01/2022 19:24

Hello everyone! I started my nhs course on Monday. It is zoom and a combination of weekly group sessions with a dietician on diet and exercise, and weight/ waist measuring. We send in measurements every Sunday. I didn’t have high hopes but it was really good. A nice group of women, mainly around my age. It was so interesting to hear their dieting experiences. The programme they advocate is steady weight loss through portion control and healthy choices, combined with moderate exercise. Sort of what I’ve been doing, but I like to track calories too (I’m a quantitative type of person!)

I’ve been sticking to my noom calorie budget (1320) and trying to do my steps. Scales have been a bit stuck! But I guess a slow down in weight loss is to be expected.

@Stargazer89 - I have modified my step target down to 5000 - just too difficult to do more with the school run/work and dark evenings. The cross trainer helps but the steps aren’t very accurate. What’s your target?

Jeds55 · 18/01/2022 23:01

Hi all, I'm still here catching up when I can. It's really helpful to know there's others going through the same experience. Some great weight loss on here already.
I lost 6.8lbs first week and 2lbs the second week. Was disappointed with the 2lbs as after the big loss the first week I was expecting more but if I can lose at least 2lbs a week I'll be happy.
As someone else said I'm struggling with the motivation on Some days, feels like I've been dieting forever already. Feels like a mountain to climb but trying to break it down into smaller targets. First target 5th Feb - partner's birthday- hoping to have lost a a stone by then.

Jeds55 · 18/01/2022 23:05

Saw friends tonight for first time since NYE - stupidly expected them to have noticed weight loss but they didn't. Can't wait for people to notice, need some motivation to boost me on.

Mellowyellow222 · 19/01/2022 13:38

My weight loss is much slower than I had anticipated - but I realise it should only be 1lb to 2lbs a week and after that first week, I seem to have slowed to about 1lb a week!

But I won’t be giving up - if I lose 5lbs a month that will mean I still reach target by mid summer.

Need to up the exercise - but work is crazy this month so I’m not beating myself up

Hello May I join you all? I have read the thread and am very inspired by all the positive posts.

I'm early fifties and fatter than I've ever been - menopause plus illness and stress/emotional eating. I weighed at New Year and was just into the obese category for the first time ever which scared me. I can feel it in my knees and my lack of energy.

I'd love to lose around 2 stone to get back into the highest end of the "normal" BMI for my height so that's my first Goal - and then see if I can do a bit more after that.

3 stone would take me back to the weight I was in my 30s before I had my DC who is now a teen, which seems so far away Smile

I don't count calories (due to previous issues) but I will do a low ish carb (one serving of standard carbs a day max rather than several) and no snacking after dinner which is my downfall. I barely drink (maybe 3 occasions last year) so that's not a factor. And definitely up the exercise!

SW 13 stone 10 (early Jan)
CW 13 stone 6
GW 11 stone 10 (for normal BMI)

Mellowyellow222 · 20/01/2022 07:45

Welcome @Silversprinkles!!!

This thread is great. We all have similar goals and are taking our own approaches! No judgement just encouragement.

Seeing that BMI over 30 is terrifying! But a good kick up the arse😊.

I'm creeping in Grin

Spent the last week and a half early morning walking.
I manage about 1.5 to 2.5 miles five mornings a week sometimes four and then on a weekend day I'm doing around 6 miles.

I work full time and have a side job Aswell so getting into routines been hard.

I bought myself a weighted hula hoop and do around 15-25 mins five days a week with it and am doing yoga five nights a week Aswell.

I've moved the scales by around 3 lb but have around 2 stone more to lose Sad

I have a condition that makes it harder to get weight off so it always takes longer but I'm gritting my teeth. M

Over hauled food and intake and feel so much better but am going to keep coming back here to check in

Disneygirl37 · 20/01/2022 10:03

Can I join in too. I've just weighed myself and I've really let the weight creep on. I'm the heaviest I've ever been! Bmi is 29.4 and I've just crept over the 13 stone mark.
Ideally I would like to loose 1 1/2 stone.
I'm going to stick to 1500 calories and either join the gym or start couch to 5 k again 🙈
I'm finding it a lot harder now I'm over 40 😭

BugBeingBold · 20/01/2022 12:01

Hi all, I'm completely new to Mumsnet but was looking for an accountability forum to help keep me on track as I desperately want to lose weight.

I'm getting married end of June, so I have 5 months and I am currently just shy of 5 stone heavier than when I met my Fiancé 14 years ago. Granted, I was very unwell and underweight when we met (I have a history of ED). However, over the years I have slowly weight restored and have since oddly moved from severe restricting to actually comfort eating and am now considered "overweight" according to my BMI (and headed for "obese"). I know he loves me for me, not my weight, but I'm so unhappy in my own skin and just want to feel a bit more normal.

I walk between 10-15K steps per day (dog walking mostly), I do Body Pump (resistance / weight training) twice a week, Spin class twice a week, plus additional ad hoc Yoga / cardio. I'm struggling so much with losing the weight - I try to stick to 1,500 calories but with the amount of exercise I do I need to fuel myself so do go over (but not hugely so).

My worry is that I've completely ruined my metabolism from years of under-feeding myself...

I basically just really want to lose this weight and get happier in my skin and have some healthy balance, and hoped that I could find some support and accountability here.

Any top tips? Thank you all and well done on your progress so far - it was lovely reading the thread thus far! 🖤

liliainterfrutices · 20/01/2022 13:22

I've plateaued and it's hard to keep up the motivation now . . . Also have promised youngest to take him to Pizza Express for a birthday dinner . . . I have the willpower of a gnat.

Jeds55 · 20/01/2022 14:44

I'm really struggling today, second night of awful disrupted sleep. Looking after 3 year old and baby solo. Time is dragging and I'm craving chocolate.
