Accountability - three stone needs to go

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 19:49

Stood on the scales today - I have gained three stone since 2019. None of my clothes fit and I feel really unfit - can’t even touch my toes!

So today is day one. I have walked 17,000 steps and eaten 1500 calories. No booze and no chocolate.

History of ED so need to be sensible.

Goal is to eat less and walk every day. Treadmill ordered.

Got my best park run time for MONTHS today!!
Buzzing!! So hope the scales give me good news on Mobday!

Mellowyellow222 · 05/02/2022 13:43

Brilliant on the park run - I used to love going must get back to that level of fitness.

Just back from visiting my parents. Mother raising diets and my weight again! I did what my counsellor told me and got up put on my coat and left. Every single time this happens I either change the subject or leave! Why doesn’t she take the not at all subtle hint!!!!!!

But I will not drown my sorrows in ice cream or crisps!

Great results everyone!

@TaggieWeightLoss can I ask what you're doing for weight loss - is it a set plan or are you doing your own thing? You're getting great results.

TaggieWeightLoss · 06/02/2022 15:41

Hi @Silversprinkles - thank you for your kind words! I’m using the noom programme, which is more about behaviour change than a particular eating plan. I have a history of Ed and binge eating so my behaviour around food needs to change.

I’m eating a light, lowish carb breakfast and lunch and then a moderate portion of the normal family supper but no pudding and no wine. No snacks. It is a plan that I will be able to maintain because we normally do our own thing for breakfast and lunch and have a family supper. I always find that losing weight is easy enough but maintaining is a lot more difficult.

I track what I eat on noom but am not aiming for a particular calorie budget. It is generally about 1000 calories a day.

Mellowyellow222 · 07/02/2022 19:14

So went off the rails completely yesterday. I got myself stressed about work - binged! Six mini dairy milk bars. I couldn’t stop!

But today is another day and my weight hasn’t increased. So back to 1200 calories a day.

I have now lost 12lbs. Nearly a third of the way!

TaggieWeightLoss · 08/02/2022 07:23

Aww @Mellowyellow222 - sorry you had a tough day. Hope today is less stressful.

Silversprinkles · 08/02/2022 13:35

Thanks @TaggieWeightLoss sounds similar to what I'm doing but I'm obviously still having too many calories overall and need to cut back a bit more. Gotta love the menopause!

Silversprinkles · 08/02/2022 13:36

@Mellowyellow222 be kind to yourself and yes it's a new day, back on the wagon!

Jeds55 · 09/02/2022 02:18

Just checking in. Had 4 days off the diet and really hsve overdone it - got terrible heartburn tonight. Feeling really guilty. Slipped back into mindless eating of junk. Getting back onto it today. Met first target of stone down by dp bday. Next target is into the overweight category rather than obese by dd1 bday - 6 weeks today.

Jeds55 · 09/02/2022 02:22

Great results all. Is lovely that the thread is active. I'll weigh next Mon now. Expecting a gain.
I used to run regularly so I aim to start that again in March once c section has hopefully stopped hurting completely and more weight off for my poor joints. Well done on the parkrun @Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin love the post run high

Mellowyellow222 · 09/02/2022 22:23

@Jeds55 I will still post every week until the three stone have gone😊

I am going through that phase where I have lost 12lbs, I know I must be getting smaller but I feel like I am at my fattest ever! I know it’s because I am no longer avoiding mirrors and I am actually trying on clothes that I used to wear - and the still don’t fit!

I hoped 10lbs would take me back to a size 14 - but my size 14 work dresses are still too tight.

I will try again in another 5lbs.

Slow and steady wins the race😊

The scales flickered again into the "12s" this morning - and stayed there this time! I did do a little happy dance I must say!

12 stone 13 and I am never going back into the "13" stone (or 14 😳) again!

Mellowyellow222 · 10/02/2022 18:02

@Silversprinkles well done!! It a wonderful feeling isn’t it!!!!

OP posts:
Jeds55 · 10/02/2022 20:06

@Silversprinkles well done. You deserve that happy dance!
A bad day here, have broken diet massively. I was going well until the days off now I feel starving all the time. Back to it tomorrow. At least I've done a lot of walking over last couple days. Hope everyone else doing well

Jeds55 · 10/02/2022 20:10

@Mellowyellow222 I know exactly what you mean but trust the scales. Every ounce counts. Good idea to set the clothes aside for a set time period/weight loss abd try again. It's a bloody slow process but heading in right direction

Silversprinkles · 10/02/2022 21:21
@Silversprinkles well done!! It a wonderful feeling isn’t it!!!!
It sure is! I'm trying to hold onto that feeling this evening to resist a snack - more water, more water and even more water!

TaggieWeightLoss · 11/02/2022 12:24

Well done @Silversprinkles!

My milestone yesterday was that I was able to comfortably fit into my (one and only) smart work outfit. It is a size 16 and I had gone up to an 18 before. Before I started this diet, I was able to just about put on the jacket but I can’t wear a jacket and pyjamas to an in person meeting with the uni vice chancellor. I doubt he would appreciate the 2020 chic.

Mellowyellow222 · 12/02/2022 09:15

Week 6

I was very enthusiastic in January - and then it waned :(
so inspiring to see that you've kept at it MellowYellow

I sat down yesterday and wrote out new goals (weight, exercise, sleep...)
Last night I broke a tooth when I was flossing thme before bed - the tooth - or the hole - didn't hurt, but had a jagged edge that was cutting in to my tongue. Hardly slept at all, so the getting up early and out for a morning walk was out of the window, great start.

So, I'm just back from the dentist with a temporary filling - and instructions not to eat anything hard/crunchy/sticky/chewy while the temp filling is in, almost two weeks.
What better time to start the intended porridge and lentil soup diet that I'd been planning to do?

Breakfast overnoght porridge is still waiting, so I'll eat that later, then make a start with a batch of lentil soup.
It's reccomended that you follow it for 12 weeks, so that will go to mid-May, just before my birthday and a holiday that I have booked.

Mellowyellow222 · 12/02/2022 22:20

I have discovered that oven chips weight about 40% less after cooking and the calories are for cooked.

This made me unspeakably happy! I only have oven chips once a week - and my tiny tiny 100g portion was actually only about 60g! So I can easy more oven chips!!

I had 1200 calories today and spent all day gardening - exhausted and about to go to bed.

There was a time when I would just be arriving at the bar at this time on a Saturday night!!

I'm out for afternoon tea today, it was booked and paid for ages ago (last year) and it's a good friend's birthday so I'm going, but I'm going to
a) fill up on the savoury elements to start and then claim too full for the overload of sweet stuff that comes afterwards, it's a very generous serving at this place
b) donate my complimentary glass of fizz to one of the other ladies - avoid the extra calories and hopefully help my firmness in resisting extra cake!

Mellowyellow222 · 13/02/2022 13:02

@Silversprinkles that sounds lovely!

Remember if it’s a one off you can’t do too much damage. Enjoy it then go back to the healthy eating tomorrow!

Well done everyone on a good week’s work. I’m super impressed with your sensible tea time plans @Silversprinkles. I hope you have a wonderful time.

My result is 12 stone 13. A smaller loss this week (to be expected after two big losses) but I am very excited to being in the 12’s!! I am also starting to ‘feel thinner’, which is very motivating - although I know I have a long way to go.

Silversprinkles · 13/02/2022 17:16

Thanks everyone it's all gone to plan so far and I'm heading home soon to drink lots more water!
