HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Today didn't go so well, I woke up and felt dizzy and tired. Got an email saying I didn't turn up for my first day of work last week so I've been withdrawn. I never received the offer letter about when and where I was meant to be posted so that upset me greatly. I'm hoping it gets sorted out in the next week though. Had toast and peanut butter for breakfast to cheer myself up which I didn't want to do but I felt truly awful and needed something to perk me up a bit. And it did, as it was a delight to eat. Fine the rest of the day until after dinner. I think I'll write today off and try again tomorrow.

Allotment123 · 12/01/2022 07:28

Weigh in Wednesday, 10 stone 13, 2lb lost, 3.5lb lost since 30th December, slow and steady, just need to keep plodding

flower3305 · 12/01/2022 07:40

I've gain half a pound Shock

Feeling a bit bleuch about it but being positive I started a boot camp last night which was great fun with some local mums and feel good for it this morning

129orbust · 12/01/2022 07:44

That's a miserable start to the day @marmilade92. I hope you can sort it out.
Well done @Allotment123 - that's a great result.
133lbs for me this morning so that's another 0.4lb so 1lb left to get back to pre-christmas weight and start to drop again.
The absolutely horrid weather is not helping at the moment but I am braving a walk tomorrow morning whether I want to or not.
Here's to a successful day for everyone.

swampytiggaa · 12/01/2022 07:55

Weigh in this morning - just over 2lb from last Wednesday and 5.5lb down from 1/1.

Off for a run in a bit 😊

buzzofthebumblebee · 12/01/2022 08:05

I'm in your camp 129orbust - I'm still up on my end Dec low of 11 stone 5, but not by much.

SW 1/9/21 - 13 stone 2
CW 12/1/22 - 11 stone 6.5
GW - by end Jan - I want to be at 11 stone 2 - so I need 4 lbs loss over next 3 weeks

Well done on losses so far allotment & swampy

Sorry for your bad news / luck yesterday marmilade - frustrating but sounds out of your control, so try not to fret any more today. All to easy to eat feelings. Hope new date gets sorted soon, and you have a better day today.

I liked the red wine / white shirt analogy too ChimChim. Well done on swim. I'm off to gym later, and another run tomorrow.

Nomoreusernames1244 · 12/01/2022 08:10

Those of you aiming for under 9st, are you all short?

I’d love to aim for that. But i think it’s probably unrealistic. Last time i got below 9st it was the start of an ED, so a daren’t. It is still within normal for my height though.

Lupinspotato · 12/01/2022 08:10

@marmilade92 Sorry to hear about the job. I really hope it’s sorted out.

Weigh-in today: 11 stone
Loss this week: 2.5 lbs
Total loss: 4 lbs

Started Couch to 5k so hoping that is helping.

Rshard · 12/01/2022 08:16

Hope you manage to sort the job situation marmilade

Congratulations for the losses reported and continuing positivity. Another 2lbs for me so 4 overall, although todays weight has been the same since Saturday so hoping I am due a little loss?!

So cold here today, happy Wednesday!

TheRealHousewife · 12/01/2022 08:50

Good Morning All

Apologies for not getting back to thread yesterday, it got unexpectedly busy.

@Graphista that is one of the most impressive graphs I’ve ever seen! 👍👏🏅

@8stone13 why I would I boot you. Sorry if I’ve missed something 😬 if it’s about food intake, it can be good for the soul/body to go off piste at times … to rejoin your healthy eating regime with renewed vigour 👍

@flower3305 weight fluctuating is completely normal, albeit we prefer it when it goes down. Try to not get disheartened. Well done on getting the exercise in 👍👏

Oh my goodness @marmilade92 how horribly frustrating! Hopefully it’ll get sorted soon. Todays a fresh new start 👍

@galacticpixels hopefully work will calm down soon 👍

@Raspberry12 get some new undies before you moon everyone 😜. Well done on sizing down 👍

@Youdoyoutoday impressive doing 36 lengths in 40 minutes 🏅

@SunshineCake1 ❤️

@onwardsandupwards22 You’re welcome. Also ask yourself why you want to lose. Imagine how you want to look/feel. If you feel it, visualise it and want it enough you’ll make it happen. You can do this if you know your ‘why’.

Pesky scales up a bit more. Not sweating it. Had pain meds yesterday and they always cause water weight gain. I’ve done walking every day at least 20minutes 22seconds 😬 which is good effort for me!

Menu
Meal 1 - Halloumi, kale, red pepper & sweet potato (small amount) stir fry.
Meal 2 - Home made spicy cauliflower soup.
Tea, black coffee, water, satsuma, small apple.

Enjoy your day! Remember weight fluctuations are normal although it’s natural for us to prefer the troughs rather than the peaks. Don’t get disheartened as that road can lead to COOKIES & CHOCOLATE 😬

Morning all 🙂

@marmilade92 That sounds tough 😔 I hope you get it sorted 🤞🏻

@Nomoreusernames1244 I'm 5' 5.5" & was aiming for 8s 13lb. That's the weight I maintained between age 37 & 44. From 44 to now (age 46) I've really battled to stay there, partly (I realise now from the experience of this diet) because I was eating far too much sweet stuff, but partly I suspect because of an age shift - I don’t think 8s 13lb is sustainable anymore. I've come down from a high of 9s 10lb on NYD to 9s 4.5-5lb at the moment but can't seem to shift any more. I now physically look like I used to at 8s 13lb & am starting to wonder if this is my new normal. It doesn't seem much of a fluctuation but as I said at the start of this thread, because of my frame (I'm still something of a gangly teenager 😀) I only have to lose 3lb & people ask me if I've been ill, & I only have to put on 3lb & people tell me I look "well" fatter 😀

Another factor is that I’m Autistic so I like the measurements & numbers & it’s quite hard to mentally shift from what I think I should be on the scales to what I probably should be in terms of my age & health 🤨 I definitely have the tendency towards obsessiveness which is something I have to watch myself for.

Day 11 - Weds 12th Jan - 9s 5lb

I ate more yesterday as I felt so weak, I think I’ve pretty much plateaued now & having seen myself in the mirror that might be because I’ve lost all the weight I’ve got to lose…I’m going to try & listen to my body more today as I didn’t feel well yesterday. I actually think I need to make time to really look at my diet & nutrition more closely to make sure I’m getting all I need 🤔

8stone13 · 12/01/2022 09:02

@TheRealHousewife I asked yesterday if I had to leave the thread when I got to target weight & you said it was fine for me to stay & I was thanking you, that's all 🙂

cherrytree63 · 12/01/2022 09:03

Morning everyone, hope you're all well and feeling positive.
My weight is jumping about a bit which is annoying, yesterday I was 62kg, today 62.2.
When I lost masses of weight doing LCHF I had rapid and consistent loss.
My cast comes off next week so hopefully I'll be able to do more of the cooking, OH cooks a lot but it's always potatoes and pasta.
He piles my plate up too much and after a childhood of being made to finish everything it's taken some effort to train myself to leave some.
Still not succumbed to any sweets or crisps, not craving any either so I'm counting that as a NLV.

ShoppingBasket · 12/01/2022 09:11

Weigh in loss 2lbs
SW 11 stone 6
CW 11 stone 2
Total 4lbs
Aim next week 1lb

As pp said weight fluctuates but I get that disheartening feeling! Maybe have a look at your water intake as I read the other day that upping your water helps to flush out the water gain inside. Not sure if it's that actual fact!
When I did slimming World many moons ago, the consultant said that you may lose in the first week or two and then you might find that you are up on the 3rd week even though you have done everything right. She said to keep at it as the 'whoosh effect' should take place the following week. It is your fat cell waiting for you to fill it up with more fat. It is actually a thing if you google it Grin
So sorry to hear about the job what a horrible thing to happen. I'm definitely an emotional eater too. Hopefully things will sort out by next week.

I can feel I've lost one of four of my spare tyres around my tummy which feels great. Now I have to knuckle down for another week. Hoping work settles a bit, just manic at moment with everyone isolating.
Dinner tonight is homemade coconut and mango chutney curry (approx 240 cals without rice) and homemade potato chips. I find rice makes me more hungry an hour later.
Best of luck everyone for the next week, I do read posts but don't always post!

TheRealHousewife · 12/01/2022 09:35

@8stone13 Cool, sorry for the confusion, I was speed reading/writing. 😬 and no you defo don’t need to leave the thread, use it for maintainable. Well done on reaching goal weight 👍🏅👏

@ShoppingBasket well done on your progress to date 👍👏🏅

galacticpixels · 12/01/2022 09:54

I'm down 1.4lb this morning. My goal was 2lb but I'm happy with this considering the time of the month.

January 2022 loss: 3lb
Total loss since 2021: 15.4lb

I'm just back from my morning walk. I'll do some yoga at lunch as I'm aching a bit from yesterday's workout. Lunch is salmon and rice, and dinner is a beef curry with rice.

ginsparkles · 12/01/2022 09:57

Good morning all! Well done on all the losses!

Hope the job situation sorts itself out @marmilade92

Wednesday weigh in.

Weigh in loss 3lbs
SW 12 stone 6
CW 11 stone 13
Total 7lbs

Happy with that, so onwards and downwards!
Todays plan is quite salmon heavy but hey ho!!
Meal 1 - salmon salad, yogurt and fruit bar
Meal 2 - smoked salmon tagliatelle

SunshineCake1 · 12/01/2022 09:58

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee. I was worried I'd be told off and told physical is more important. I suppose both physical and mental can cause problems if not good but I just went with what I thought was for the best and safest for me.

Well done @Allotment123. The 🐢🐢club is a nice and sustainable one.

Sorry about the job situation @marmilade92. I really hope you can get it resolved. I received a letter December 31st for an appointment on the 24th and the 28th as well as New Year's Eve!

Don't fret @flower3305. Even if it is a real half pound gain you have won by doing the boot camp.

Well done on your loss @129orbust and I hope you managed your walk.

Great loss for the year @swampytiggaa! I was feeling pleased with mine (3.2lb) but yours is fab. I'll try not to be too downhearted Grin.

I ran for an hour this morning. Weighed in at the same as last Wednesday but I haven't gone up, I've been running and mentally I feel better. Year loss is only 3.2lb. Before I got poorly I was 10 stone 12 in August and I am 11 stone 11.2 today but while I am fed up and embarrassed it is better than the 14 stone I was in October 2019 and I've lost it before so I'll lose it again. My vegetable intake has also gone up a lot and my chocolate consumption has gone down so I am taking it as a win and will try not to be too down about the weight number.

buzzofthebumblebee · 12/01/2022 10:44

Some great losses so far this month / year. And for those of us who haven't had a whoosh yet, we still need to congratulate ourselves and be positive that we are still here and mindful, even if the scales don't say so!

I am always quite astounded at how little I need to eat (portion size and low carb, no sugar, no snacks) in order to actually loose weight. I just thought about how I could "go back to normal" once I was comfortably under 11 stone, but "go back to normal" was mindless comfort eating & crisps and chocolate, and no way do I want to go back there!

My taste buds have really been turned-on by no sugar too. I have quit ketchup and sugary condiments & sauces as well which so makes a difference to so many different meals. For the better!

I think my meal planning has got in a rut, so I need to read a few recipe books and get some new things on the menu.

Just in from long sunny (but cold) dog walk. Now to deal with work and demanding clients. Have a good day everyone

swampytiggaa · 12/01/2022 10:56

@SunshineCake1 Tbf I think my loss is mostly stopping eating loads of chocolate and biscuits in the evenings. It’s the main benefit of IF for me. Plus my new job is even more physical than the other one in a lot of ways and I’ve not really sorted out my food yet so I’m probably not eating enough some days. Fully expecting my weight loss to slow down now.

I need ideas for easy stuff I can take to work rather than just a sandwich. I don’t want to be picking something up there for cost and health reasons 😊 if the canteen was open in the afternoon I’d eat from there as it’s all fresh done but cost cutting means it’s only open for breakfast and lunch so no good when my first break is after 4pm

I have access to a fridge and microwave. Easier to take something in ready prepared otherwise I need receipts to prove I haven’t stolen it 😔

Also needs to be something easy to eat. Any suggestions welcome. I’m currently at tuna and pasta and that’s it 😂😂

8stone13 · 12/01/2022 11:08

@buzzofthebumblebee Your post resonated so much - the mindless snacking on chocolate, the surprisingly small amount you need to eat in order to lose weight, the change to your palate once you cut out the sugary stuff, the need to be positive regardless of what the scales say, the rut with meal planning - I could have written it all 👍🏻

I think that's why I like this thread so much, so many like-minded individuals 🙂

Raspberry12 · 12/01/2022 11:27

I asked for sunshine and I got it! Such a beautiful sunny winter morning in London :)

Planning to go on lots of mini power walks today to get some laptop breaks in. 6k step count already from school / nursery / coffee run this morning.

Enjoy the sunshine if you’ve got some ☀️

ginsparkles · 12/01/2022 11:54

I agree to about the mindless snacking @8stone13 and @buzzofthebumblebee

I had lost such a lot before, and then with many issues, lockdown and losing my dad, mindless snacking became my go to. As a result I now need to lose nearly 2 stone. It's amazing how fast it reappears if you don't keep it in check isn't it?

I also forget how small my portion sizes really should be. My husband often divides things into two because that's fair, (you only have 2 sausages that's not fair), but it may not be fair, it's still right for me to only have 2 because I'm a girl who is shorter and lighter than him. I should be eating less than him. Just need to get him to understand that too!

Oh I relate so much to this!

All the weight I'm trying to lose right now, I gained after moving in with my partner and eating what he was eating. Problem is he's a lot taller and actually finds it hard to put on weight, he's very slim.... My weight however piled on (3 stone!)

I now have to be careful to always weigh my portions and we've both cut out the weekly takeaway for now as I seem to put on weight if I relax for even a week or two.

Youdoyoutoday · 12/01/2022 12:09

Some great losses today!! Well done to everyone!!
@marmilade92 hope you get the job stuff sorted

Bootcamp done this morning but I'm still aching and exhausted, think I need a bit of time to get back in to the swing of things.

Currently looking after a pile of blankets that is my DD today, she an injection yesterday and isn't quite herself today as she's sitting still. I'd feel mean dragging her out and about as it's freezing here. It was 3 degrees when I got up at 5.30am and at 7.30am it was -1!! I'm quite content to chill out on the sofa with her but I'll do some squats later to ease the glutes!!

Happy Wednesday 🌞
