HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Checking in everyone so I will weigh in tomorrow.
I was 132 before Christmas but have had two full weeks of fun so.... I reckon 138/139 lbs tomorrow.
It could be less as I cannot eat like I used to portionwise.
I would be delighted if its 137 lbs or less.
We will see!

swampytiggaa · 03/01/2022 14:45

Hello! Fasting is going well 😊 unfortunately I’ve eaten 3 mince pies this afternoon. Oops 😱 never mind

Tea today is ratatouille with butter bean mash followed by homemade rice pudding 🤞 and lunch was crackers and cheese and obviously I’ve snacked on mince pies 😂😂

I bought a bag of cheesy footballs (my nemesis) but I’m not eating any today. That’s a treat for another day 👍

Well done everyone 😊 lovely to see so many people here!

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 03/01/2022 16:02

Lovely to see this thread so busy!

Well done to everyone who is doing well, and to those having slip ups, you’re only human- I once saw a really good graph showing what we Hope weight loss is, a straight, downward line, but in reality it’s up and down, because of life!

Last day off before returning to work tomorrow. Have loved being off but will also be good to be back into a routine and not being in the house (work out of the home) does help with not mindlessly eating.

Food shop was delivered today full of nice healthy stuff, have meal planned and determined to stick to it. Work can be busy and stressful so my main goal is not to eat emotionally of an evening.

Meals today have been (WW):

Breakfast: cold skinny latte coffee and a protein bar

Lunch: 3/4 avocado mashed with salt and pepper, reduced fat hummus, whole meal pitta bread, lots of raw carrots and cashew nuts.

Dinner is going to be a big stir fry- chicken, loads of veg, some nuts and an M&S stir fry sauce.

Plenty of points left for something later- not sure what yet as really trying to cut down on sugar.

GettinTrimmer · 03/01/2022 16:49

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 thanks for sharing your daily menu for today, lots of healthy fats looks good.

SunshineCake1 · 03/01/2022 17:00

Good luck @129orbust. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I've decided to try and wait until the end of the month to weigh in.

If it makes you feel any better @swampytiggaa I had some chocolate Yule dog and vanilla cream as a mid afternoon snack Grin. Just back for another 5km/ 1.5 hour walk with the dog though so hopefully off setted!

swampytiggaa · 03/01/2022 17:32

I’ve just eaten and it was fantastic. Feel rather full after my rice pudding but I really enjoyed it. Fast started now hoping to go through to noon tomorrow.

Got a 10k walk planned for tomorrow morning with a friend… was going to be a run but she’s injured so we’ll walk instead which will be fun 😊

NoodleSlurper · 03/01/2022 17:52

Just had a phone appt with doctor and my pre-Christmas blood test showed high sugars even with fasting, so that’s a bit of a kick up the bum.

Squirrelblanket · 03/01/2022 18:02

The last two days have been spent finishing the festive food and drinks. We had a takeaway for dinner too.

Ready to get on it tomorrow! 💪 I am quite looking forward to it actually, will be nice to have some structure and goals.

ShelbyLimitedCo · 03/01/2022 18:19

Do any of you use the skinny food products....seems a little too good to be true but happy to be told otherwise!!!

melissasummerfield · 03/01/2022 18:19

Checking in, hope everyone is well!

Day 3 of exercising everyday, tracking calories starts again tomorrow as we are all back in the school / work routine!

I’m also going to make a conscious effort to take all of the supplements i should be taking daily Grin

melissasummerfield · 03/01/2022 18:20

@clpsmum hows it going ? Wink

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 03/01/2022 18:58

@melissasummerfield I will also be starting back with calorie tracking from tomorrow when the kids are back at school and nursery. Looking forward to getting back into a proper routine.

I am pathetic - still too scared to get on the scales!

Crazzzycat · 03/01/2022 19:05

@ShelbyLimitedCo, I think you’re right to be a little bit sceptical to be honest. I’ve never tried their products, but couldn’t resist having a quick look at their website and noticed that, for example, the calories they show for their chocolate spreads are for a minuscule 5 gram portion. When compared to the calories in, for example, Nutella, there isn’t a huge difference. Their peanut butter actually has MORE calories than the one I use (bog standard Tesco’s own brand)

I don’t know, it might be that some of their other products are much lower in calories than the usual stuff, but by the looks of it that’s not the case for all their products 🤔

melissasummerfield · 03/01/2022 19:10

@TooManyPlatesInMotion don’t be hard on yourself! Focus on the fact you are taking positive steps Smile

You can measure progress by taking pics or using a dress thats a bit too small etc.. scales aren't everything Wink

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 03/01/2022 19:12

@ShelbyLimitedCo I haven’t, but what I’ve found in years of dieting and being interested in nutrition is a lot of these things are just clever marketing ploys- they use tiny serving sizes as their ‘per serving’ when in reality you’d be unlikely to just use that tiny amount. Also full of sugar.

Personally I’m now willing to ‘use’ my calories/points/whatever on better quality, less junk filled sweet stuff eg a few squares of good quality chocolate than the ‘skinny’ stuff I’d have always reached for in the past.

I have definitely fallen into the trap in the past of buying these type of products, eating way too many of them at the expense of more filling meals and that’s a habit I’m determined to break.

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 03/01/2022 19:13

@NoodleSlurper sorry to hear that. What promoted you to get the tests done if you don’t mind me asking? I am paranoid about T2 diabetes. I am really, really overweight and so worried about getting it, hence being determined to make 2022 the year I sort it out. I don’t have any symptoms so far.

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 03/01/2022 19:15

@TooManyPlatesInMotion good luck starting back on it tomorrow.

Hope everyone has had a good day. Ending my day within points and loads of healthy foods. Had some fruit and a small piece of chocolate for dessert which is fine, now the test is leaving it there. Determined to do that!

PopcornFiend · 03/01/2022 19:23

Hi all, I’d love to join if I may? Been following the thread for a while.
My key stats - age 38, 5ft5, 177lbs 😞
Goal is to reach 140lbs so feels like a long way to go.. but I’m honestly so unhappy when I look at myself in the mirror, have totally let myself go over the last 3 years.
I’ve tried “being good”, tried daily exercise, nothing has stuck. So as of tomorrow I am going down the slim fast route in hopes I will see some results. My plan is one shake for lunch (I don’t tend to eat breakfast), then a healthy smaller-than-usual portion of family dinner, then try as hard as possible not to snack.
I have bought bananas and blueberries in case I need something to graze on in the evening - got to be better than the salt & vinegar crisps and random choc treats I have been eating??
Will really struggle to fit in exercise - permanently wfh, 2 primary aged kids - but am going to try and do a 15min HIIT workout every day or every couple of days.
Honestly.. I’m really scared I’m not going to manage to lose weight. My self control is poor, and I know I’ll feel like giving up if I don’t see weekly results. Ever the impatient brat!!
This thread seems wonderful and supportive so hoping to keep motivated and drop the 2/2.5 stone I need to be a really healthy (and feel more attractive) weight. Thanks all 🙏

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 03/01/2022 19:25

@melissasummerfield good idea, thanks. I'm going to find my pre-pandemic jeans. Suspect they will be a more than a bit tight, but we all have to start somewhere right?!

TinyTroubleMaker · 03/01/2022 19:30

Hi can I join? Bit late feels like everyone else has started their NY plans. I've been telling myself I will since Boxing Day then eating a mountain of food. Work stress playing a part.

Weight : was down to 10st 2 in early December, now 10 st 9. All my clothes feel super tight. I have a big birthday coming up in a month and kicking myself, I wanted to keep up the weight loss and feel proud of myself.

Thinking about what I can do in a month :

  1. Drink 2 litres water a day before eating anything
  2. One healthy meal a day, probably dinner, plus drinks. With some calories saved for treats. For an average 1100 calories per day (I'm 5ft so can't eat a lot)
  3. Very strict low carb / processed food / alcohol
  4. Get out for a fast walk and fresh air daily (I wfh its so easy to sit all the time)
  5. Gym session 3-4 times a week, means every other day, for an hour
  6. Early to bed to prevent late snacking temptation, decent night's sleep every night

Does that sound reasonable? I'm an all our boring person, if I let myself have more flex I'll likely not keep to it, so think 6 simple but strict rules should work best.

TinyTroubleMaker · 03/01/2022 19:31

All or nothing ffs

SunshineCake1 · 03/01/2022 19:32

Welcome @TinyTroubleMaker. I paint my nails in the evening if I think I will struggle not to snack.

swampytiggaa · 03/01/2022 19:33

@TinyTroubleMaker I can recommend knitting or crochet. You can’t snack because you’d have to keep washing your hands otherwise your projects will get dirty 😊

swampytiggaa · 03/01/2022 19:34

Early bed also works tbf 😂😂😂

melissasummerfield · 03/01/2022 19:34
