Hi, here's the new thread. Its pouring with rain , the days are getting shorter, so I thought we needed some optimism.

8st 12 this morning, aiming for a bit of a loss this month, I would be pleased with a pound. I've got my Dad coming down for two weeks tomorrow so going to be quite busy, which generally helps.

Work is done for a week now thanks and I'm feeling a lot better. Just need to get performance management stuff done and write my application for pay threshold over half term and do a bit of planning (and try and sort this shit tip out and losing weight would be good - magic wand anyone?).

Had a family death this week and a week of cramps without a period appearing. Finally came today on day 36. Things can only get better?

Take care everyone.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 24/10/2021 09:36

Ooh, you've had a lot on. I'm off now for a week so want to make the most of the break but get the endless jobs done too!

16k steps yesterday and 9st 6.25 this morning. No effort in it yesterday so just need to keep a cool head now and take it day by day.
Aims: 2L water, no junk, skin and teeth.

Octopus37 · 24/10/2021 13:50

@TheHoneyBadger sorry to hear about your family death. Sorry to hear that you have been so busy with work and feeling pants, hope you start feeling better over half term.
@HeyGirlHeyBoy sounds as if you are right back on it. Still feeling crap here, but hoping to turn a corner. DS's are both feeling quite a lot better. DH still waiting for his PCR result. 8st11.25 this morning cause I dont have much appetite. Hoping this will pass soon, but I guess our turn had to come.

Hey all, sorry to hear your household got hit by covid @Octopus37, hope you have a speedy recovery. I've managed to regain the 1lb I lost last week, but that's no surprise as I've had a f**k kind of attitude 😂 been good on the exercise front with running three/four times per week, otherwise I'm sure I'd have gained a few. Gonna try to be focused from tomorrow as it's half term here, and it would be very easy to eat too much naughty stuff with the days out etc we have planned.

LBB2020 · 24/10/2021 18:39

Sorry to hear of your family death @TheHoneyBadger. I do hope you’re all feeling better soon @Octopus37.
well done on the steps @HeyGirlHeyBoy!
I’ve had a similar attitude this week too @sparklyglitterball but I haven’t been exercising Blush Tomorrow I am back on it! DH caught me off guard in a photo today and I looked awful, definitely the wake up call I needed!

sparklyglitterball · 24/10/2021 18:49

@LBB2020 the wrong angle in a photo can be really unflattering on the slimmest of people I find. I bet you look better than you think!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/10/2021 20:21

Evening. So sorry Octopus - I missed that the plague had hit your household - lousy timing for half term.

Thanks for condolences.

I've spent most of the weekend in bed tbh. Went out for a walk in the middle of the night with the dog last night when I couldn't sleep but that's been about it for exercise. Haven't eaten too much though and am doing well on the water front.

Hopefully regain some energy soon. My period is less of a period than a bit of spotting Confused not sure if it's the upping of my hrt or just a part of perimenopause. Unlike me to have really bad cramps in the build up too. Sorry for tmi - my body is a bit of a mystery to me at the minute.

I will try to remember to brave the scales in the morning.

NutellaEllaElla · 24/10/2021 21:02

Hey everyone. Sorry to hear about lurgis and bereavements.
I went away for an all inclusive holiday the first 2 weeks of October and have been avoiding the scales ever since, focusing on being consistent in sticking to my weight loss calorie target and i've been doing fine.

I wonder if anyone could tell me what they'd do. Next weekend I have to go to lunch with family to this lovely looking place. I'm trying to plan and NOT to break the bank, 1400-1500 calories is my daily target. I can try to basically not eat the rest of the day. Breakfast is an easy skip for me as I'm never hungry anyway. I love dessert but would it be crazy to have a main and dessert and nothing the rest of the day? I might be starving later? I hate fish cakes and sea bass. I've googled calorie counts for several mains at Wetherspoons (as that's the kind of place that a.does those sorts of dishes and b. publishes the nutrition info), bangers and mash, fish and chips are probably going to be around 800. I don't think I can have steak or burgers at all because with the chips they'll be mental calories. The linguine might be around 700. Desserts probably another 700. God I hate restaurants right now. Any help appreciated.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 24/10/2021 22:01

Could you plan the lightest of meals for later, as in fruit or scrambled egg? And maybe you won't need it. I'd certainly be going and enjoying the lovely place!

I haven't had a great first full day in that I haven't drunk 2L I'd say and I've skipped dinner but dint of... Not having the ingredients for a dinner and then not having time to sort. I'm now too tired so I'm just going to chalk it down and plan and shop better tomorrow. I've to be so careful not to end up v hungry.

Octopus, hope you're all doing well. Honeybadger, look after yourself.

Octopus37 · 25/10/2021 10:25

Hi @NutellaEllaElla hope you enjoyed your holiday. When you go for your meal, I would honestly just eat what you fancy and maybe have a light snack later. Above all else enjoy

Still feeling pants hear but turning a corner, the boys are on the up luckily, my DH isn't feeling great. Having to pace myself and do things a bit at a time which is annoying, whole thing is making me think a lot more about health and taking energy levels for granted. Know that sounds silly and possibly insulting to some people, not meant that way at all. Also dont mean to sound like a drama queen. Can you tell I'm over thinking cause of self-isolation. On the plus side as have next to no appetite and I'm just eating biscuits now and again, 8st10.5.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 25/10/2021 10:28

Morning all. Skipping dinner was a big error as I woke up jittery and nauseous Sad As it happened my other two meals were very light so my calorie intake was probably around 800, not good. Anyway lesson learned. Lots of water needed tpday Nd two definite meals. My downfall is bingeing on sugary stuff and tho I'm eager now to lose the gain, I'm wondering if I should take it easy and eat normally, not disallowing anything, if I can just curb the junk. Hard not to get into no pasta mentality, say. Would appreciate POV.

9st 5.25 this morning.
Aim: 2L water, skin, teeth and no junk.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 25/10/2021 10:30

Makes complete sense octopus, glad the ds are on the up. It's only when we're low we really appreciate being normal! Feel better soon and wow re weight.

TheHoneyBadger · 25/10/2021 12:43

Maybe try a week just trying to avoid junk HeyGirl - you know it's important for you not to get too obsessive and that would be a good change in itself for now and not easy when you've gotten used to eating it again.

Glad you're feeling a bit better Octopus.

Nutella I was thinking of you yesterday when I posted and wondering how you were getting on. I'd likely say just enjoy that day and try to pay for it with extra good days either side? It's got to be sustainable remember and never enjoying a meal out wouldn't be.

I'm 13:1 today so have put back on over 2 pounds from my lowest but I was expecting that. Really tired since being ill and so calorie burn is low with lots of lying around and napping enabled by the fact it's half term now. Just looked and noticed it's nearly the end of the month - October has not been a success story on the weight front.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 25/10/2021 13:20

Thank you Honeybadger, that's good advice and what I need to hear. I've jad berries and Greek yoghurt, wholemeal pitta with roast veg and cheese and will have nachos when out later. Calorific probably but normal enough food and not mindless sugar injestion! Have a good day all.

NutellaEllaElla · 25/10/2021 18:11

Thanks, yeah I agree it had to be sustainable in just anxious to get back to where I was pre holiday so I can increase my cals again Grin I don't want to ruin a weeks effort in one meal and my daily target feels low enough already. It has helped not looking at the scales as I'm not beating myself up but I also don't know how strict I need to be and am slightly afraid of looking incase I do get hard on myself.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/10/2021 08:42

I've a feeling you won't lose the week on a one meal out and two much smaller meals around that nutella. Maybe don't weigh the following day. I am now 3.25lbs down on Saturday Grin so I may not have actually truly weighed that! Bad few days leading up, although not the worst. Zero activity for me yesterday and simikar today as I have a family occasion which means a long enough drive and a slap-up meal. But I'm just going to go no junk and leave my limits at that for now.
Aims:2L water, skin and teeth, bed before 11, no junk.
Have a good day everyone.

Octopus37 · 26/10/2021 10:05

Your aims sound really good @HeyGirlHeyBoy.

Still feeling crap here, apologies for the pity party, but I dont know when I last felt so ill. Managing to eat very small amounts, biscuits etc but thats it. Another pound down

OP posts:
NutellaEllaElla · 26/10/2021 10:06

Ah you guys are right, I've just realised that 1400-1500 is deficit for me so if I eat 1800-2000 then I might not be in deficit but I will just be in maintenance and it won't ruin anything. Thanks for the perspective.

NutellaEllaElla · 26/10/2021 10:12

Gosh that sounds horrible Octopus, well wishes from me.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/10/2021 10:30

That's great nutella.

Octopus, hope you'll soon be over the worst of it, sounds rotten.

LBB2020 · 26/10/2021 15:40

Sorry you’re still feeling rotten @Octopus37. Everyone sounds like they are doing so well at sticking to plans and making good choices! I’ve not had the best start to the week but definitely not the worst! Went to visit my aunt this morning with my mum so there was tea and cake which of course I couldn’t refuse! Must try harder and drink much more water as I’ve been really bad with that recently!

NutellaEllaElla · 26/10/2021 19:07

I love cake.

Has anyone found a lower calorie spaghetti carbonara recipe? Or other cheesy creamy pasta sauce?

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/10/2021 19:40

Would you use creme fraichez add lotsnof veg, I like mushrooms and peas and less pasta. Not too bad that way. Or do it the Italian way with no cream but an egg ehisked quickly into the hot pasta.
Logging for today with a very fukl stomach but no junk Smile
Berries and Greek yoghurt, small cappuccino
3 mini veggie spring rolls and thai green chicken curry, small portion rice
Bolognese and cheese, no pasta. Too tired to make it and not massively hungry after slap up lunch.

LBB2020 · 26/10/2021 20:13

Could you use Philadelphia light for a cheesy pasta sauce @NutellaEllaElla?

NutellaEllaElla · 26/10/2021 20:22

Yes that's a great idea thank you
