Optimistic October

Hi, here's the new thread. Its pouring with rain , the days are getting shorter, so I thought we needed some optimism.

8st 12 this morning, aiming for a bit of a loss this month, I would be pleased with a pound. I've got my Dad coming down for two weeks tomorrow so going to be quite busy, which generally helps.

Oh bad luck Octopus. I hope you don't become too unwell.

LBB2020 · 08/10/2021 15:20

Thank you, DS1 seems fine now so was perhaps something he ate (terrible timing as DH was away with work!).
Hope you’re ok @Octopus37 and if you do have Covid it’s mild x

singlemama91 · 08/10/2021 15:43

Hello, i am hoping to start a weight loss plan this week and joining this thread for hopefully a bit of momentum! haha

LBB2020 · 08/10/2021 15:51

Welcome @singlemama91 Smile

singlemama91 · 08/10/2021 15:58

Thanks :)

Octopus37 · 09/10/2021 09:13

Welcome @singlemama91.

False alarm, I haven't got covid. My PCR came back negative and I think I'd left the lateral flow for too long Big relief.

Not doing well on the weight front, still not quite enough steps, Chinese last night 9st0.5. Gradually creeping up even if it is water. I'm just not in the mood tbh though.

LBB2020 · 09/10/2021 11:02

Good news @Octopus37!
I know what you mean about not being in the mood. I just can’t get motivated since we had Covid (we are all fine now but I just seem to have lost all motivation)

sparklyglitterball · 09/10/2021 12:49

What a relief 😅 for you @Octopus37. Although having said that, I feel having dc at school means it's inevitable we're gonna get covid at some point, would quite like to get it done with! But I imagine with your dad there it's not the best time. I'm doing ok ish........stayed the same this week which is fine, I wasn't expecting to lose as I didn't get out running until this morning as I've had a bit of a cold. Just trying to stay fairly sensible over the weekend but still factor in some treats!

TheHoneyBadger · 09/10/2021 13:22

Hate to say it Octopus but I think new advice is to treat a positive lft and negative pcr as if you were positive.

Chinese last night here too so haven't gone near the scales but am doing a bit of a fast. At nearly 15hrs now. Not hungry but really fancy a weekend daytime beer! Am resisting and distracting with herbal tea and lots of water. I've fallen out of the habit of intermittent fasting.

Think I'll only do 16hrs and just hope that helps my body to digest the chinese. My dosage of hrt has been doubled because I was still getting the crazy hot flushes at work - not sure what that will do weight. I know what I hope obviously.

Octopus37 · 10/10/2021 07:42

Thats true @sparklyglitterball. My oldest one will get a vaccine soon, but the younger one wont for a while cause he's not 12 till February.

@TheHoneyBadger hope your HRT helps, I'm just changed mine as well cause it wasn't really working effectively, I'm still finishing off a pack at the moment though.

Still 9st0.5 here, feeling bloated, digestion not great at the moment. Rarely have a problem with that, but as soon as there's someone else in the house, ie my Dad, seems to make a difference. Hoping the bloating and some of the extra weight is down to that. Also hope to get some motivation at some point.

singlemama91 · 10/10/2021 08:56

I was meant to start this weekend but i had pizza last night so not off to a good start!

Octopus37 · 11/10/2021 07:51

8st13.5 yesterday which I feel a bit relieved about. I'm finding it harder to get my steps in now it does darker earlier, will have to switch things around a bit.

OP posts:
Octopus37 · 12/10/2021 07:33

Same weight. I did lots of steps yesterday, but went out with a fiend last night Has anyone tried the new Beefeater Peach & Raspberry gin, it is seriously lush.

@TheHoneyBadger I missed what you said about my tests. I realised that I read the result of the first one I did after 15 mins, it was one of the nostril only ones. I have done more tests since and they've all been negative, its a scary mistake to make.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 12/10/2021 09:34

I didn’t start the week well yesterday but had a decent night sleep and feeling a bit more motivated today! (by decent I mean DS2 only woke twice! Haha!). Hope you’re all well and getting off to a good start this week x

TheHoneyBadger · 12/10/2021 10:17

Still up at 12:13. Not surprised as not doing great on food or exercise particularly.

It's my day off and I just feel like staying in bed and I'm hungry! Craving junk. Period is nearly due which I guess explains that.

Octopus37 · 13/10/2021 07:15

Go easy on yourself @TheHoneyBadger you're doing great. 8st12.5 here today, got more steps in thank god. The colder weather is definitely making me hungrier though.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 13/10/2021 08:07

Still 12:13 and still no period. Hoping there's a connection and one will magically bring the other but really need to put more effort in.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Octopus37 · 14/10/2021 07:43

I'm sure there is. I never have a bleed until I'm right at the end of the progesterone part of my HRT. 8st12 this morning. Fluctuations are wierd.

OP posts:
sparklyglitterball · 14/10/2021 13:57

Hi guys, hope you're all having a good week. I'm plodding along, trying to roughly stick to my calorie allowance! Doing well with exercise, my step count was 22k last night and I'm hoping for the same today after a very long walk with youngest dc and friends this morning. Waiting for my period too honey.

LBB2020 · 14/10/2021 14:17

Hope everyone is having a good week. It’s been a bit manic here, both DC have colds again and DC2 had his injections earlier this week so has been feeling sorry for himself! I’ve not managed as many steps as I would have liked but am trying not to go crazy with food!

Octopus37 · 15/10/2021 07:35

Wow @sparklyglitterball 22,000 steps is amazing. @LBB2020 I so take my hat off to you for being able to focus on diet and exercise when you've got small kids. There's no way I'd have managed that.

8st13.25 cause I went out for a meal last night, it was my Dad's last night THANK GOD. Sorry to sound awful but as some of you on this thread know already, he is so difficult. His hearing aid broke last night which has taken things to another dimension.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 15/10/2021 07:46

I missed your 22k steps @sparklyglitterball! That’s amazing!
Sorry to hear your dad’s visit has been difficult @Octopus37, hope you can have a nice relaxing weekend once he’s gone!
I’m definitely not as focused on diet and exercise as I’d like to be! DC2 is hard work Grin he’s on the cusp of walking and is getting frustrated plus he still doesn’t sleep! And I think I mentioned previously DC1 has Down syndrome so there is always lots going on! One day I will finally lose the last half stone of baby weight Grin

Octopus37 · 15/10/2021 11:41

@LBB2020 you are amazing to be managing what you are doing, especially with your Son having Down's syndrome. I know how awful I should about my Dad but there is quite a bit back story. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 15/10/2021 15:54

Thank you @Octopus37 I don’t feel very amazing but we muddle through!
You don’t sound awful at all! Enjoy your weekend x

Octopus37 · 16/10/2021 08:47

Thanks @LBB2020, I'm off to Reading today to see a friend. Had pizza last night so 9st this morning and I know there will be a considerable amount of eating and drinking today, as well as a few steps shopping, but life's for living. Happy weekend all.
