Hi, here's the new thread. Its pouring with rain , the days are getting shorter, so I thought we needed some optimism.

8st 12 this morning, aiming for a bit of a loss this month, I would be pleased with a pound. I've got my Dad coming down for two weeks tomorrow so going to be quite busy, which generally helps.

Hope you’ve had a good day @Octopus37 and enjoyed lots of good food and drink! Life is most definitely for living!
I met a friend for lunch today which was lovely (I don’t get much child free time!) and then this afternoon have been for a long with DH and the children. Looking forward to a movie night with DH, we have snacks so not the best day but definitely not the worst! (I managed to avoid eating in the evenings this week but will make an exception tonight Grin). Happy Saturday!

Octopus37 · 17/10/2021 09:11

Thanks @LBB2020 I had a fab day. 8st13.75 this morning. Hope you enjoyed your lunch with your friend and your movie night.

Glad you had a fab day! I had a really nice day too Smile

Octopus37 · 18/10/2021 07:29

Up again this morning cause of weekend excesses, 9st0.25. Worth it though, will try and do better this week.

Yesterday was an ok day, I hit my steps target and didn’t go crazy with food (although plenty of room for improvement!). Meeting a friend for lunch today so will try to make a sensible choice and not go crazy!
Hope everyone has a good day x

Octopus37 · 19/10/2021 07:20

Well done. Down a pound this morning 8st13.25. Realising that there's still a third of this month left. Well done on your steps. Enjoy your lunch. Hope everyone has a good day.

Hi All, I dropped off here for a week, it was half term and we were away. Lots of eating out, and I was honestly sick of the sight of food by then end of it. I gained about 3 lbs, which is probably just water.

Yesterday I decided to start 5:2 and had my first fasting day It wasn't quite as tough as I thought it would be. I am trying this as I am sick of measuring all of my food. And now I only need to do it 2 days a week and eat sensibly the rest of the time. I'm really hoping it works for me.

LBB2020 · 19/10/2021 10:50

Thanks @Octopus37 Smile
Good luck with 5:2 @LadyDanburysHat I’d like to give something like that a go but I don’t think it’s recommended when breastfeeding. I had GD when pregnant with DS2 and my first blood test was the high end of normal so I think fasting alongside low carb diet is meant to be the best way to improve it but it’s just not doable for me personally whilst breastfeeding (hoping DS starts winding it down as I’m back to work in a couple of weeks so am wondering if it will naturally happen as I can’t face forcing weaning on him - he’s a strong character Grin) x

LadyDanburysHat · 19/10/2021 10:52

@LBB2020 I was constantly starving when breastfeeding, so I'm in awe of you even trying to lose weight.

Octopus37 · 20/10/2021 07:46

Good luck @LadyDanburysHat, sounds like you are doing really well. @LBB2020 I'm in awe of you managing to diet in any shape or form whilst breastfeeding, I remember how hungry I got.

Slight gain for me this morning 8st13.5, think my period is imminent. Not enough steps, mood, just want rubbish etc.

LBB2020 · 20/10/2021 13:30

Thank you both. I had hoped I’d be one of those women that lose weight when breastfeeding but alas I am not Grin
I’m finding it difficult to get my steps in now the weather isn’t so good. Hope you have a good day

Octopus37 · 21/10/2021 18:41

Same weight today. Pretty sure DS1 has covid, two positive lateral flow tests, waiting for results of PCR. He's got symptoms. I'm not feeling great easy, negative lateral flows so far. Such a shame, half term starts here tomorrow. He's meant to be going to Spain on 3rd November. DS2 and DH ok so far.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 21/10/2021 19:21

Oh no @Octopus37 and what rotten timing with half term just beginning! I hope you and your DS feel better very soon.
Not the best day with food but went for a long walk with my MIL and the children, it’s been beautiful and sunny albeit quite chilly today

Octopus37 · 22/10/2021 09:27

Yes not great, positive PCR result came back in the early hours. I'm still negative. He's managing with paracetomol. Need to make some enquiries today re his Spain trip. Wasn't as hungry yesterday so 8st12.25. Hope everyone has a good day.

LadyDanburysHat · 22/10/2021 12:33

What a shame for your DS @Octopus37, hopefully he doesn't get too ill with it. DS2 only had symptoms for 2 days, and none of the rest of us got it. And we didn't really isolate, house is too small for that.

Second fast day was yesterday, they are really not as bad as I thought they would be, so far. New low today of 11st 11.7, it will no doubt rise tomorrow after as day of normal eating, but I do seem to be making some progress.

Octopus37 · 22/10/2021 12:58

Well done @LadyDanburysHat, thats great. DS sees a bit better today, so hoping he's got a mildest dose.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 22/10/2021 22:16

Well done @LadyDanburysHat!
Hope your DS is on the mend soon @Octopus37 x

Octopus37 · 23/10/2021 09:30

Thanks, unfortunately he's still quite poorly today. I feel rough as well, negative lateral flow but got a PCR done yesterday. Headache, cough, indigestion, actually dont feel like eating this morning. DS2 has also started coughing. Think its just a case of bunking down. 8st13.75 last night, lack of steps,

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 23/10/2021 11:07

Wishing you all a speedy recovery x

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 23/10/2021 13:00

Hi everybody, just me coming back to you all with my tail between my legs... 9st 7, so not fretting and eating what I wanted didn't work. Octopus and HB you're doing great and I think you're maintaining a good few pounds less than when I was last on May/June. Well done. Hope OK to join back and sort my sugar out, hopefully..

Octopus37 · 23/10/2021 13:31

Thanks @LBB2020. DS2 and me have now had a positive PCR result. Feeling a bit crap. Ate normally (ie too much yesterday), have just had a cereal bar and a couple of biscuits so far today, not really hungry. Luckily DS2 is feeling okish, just coughing a bit. Obviously this is going to mean minimal steps for 10 days, will try and do some bits on youtube when I feel up to it, but at the moment I really dont.

@HeyGirlHeyBoy lovely to see you, was wondering the other day how you were.

OP posts:
HeyGirlHeyBoy · 23/10/2021 14:34

Oh I hope you'll both be OK Octopus. Look after yourself.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/10/2021 16:41

Hi.

Welcome back HeyGirl. Sorry ds and you are unwell.

I've been awol due to being ill (pcr came back negative) and then swamped with work.

Weight is up at just over 13st as it's been a pretty low energy burning week and eating hasn't been great.

LBB2020 · 23/10/2021 17:12

I feel for you @Octopus37, I really struggled being housebound for 10 days with the children when we had Covid back at the end of August. I also found my mood plummeted a bit after and I felt pretty “flat” for a good few weeks! I do hope it’s not too bad for you.
Hope you’re feeling better soon too @TheHoneyBadger and work eases up.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 23/10/2021 17:24

Thanks Honeybadger, I still think you are lighter than when I was here if that means anything! Hope you are on midterm now?

On the bright side I have been out and pretty active having taken up tennis and I'm really enjoying it. I think that will help now as I try take care if myself a bit better.

Back to my basic aims of: 2L water, skin and teeth care, fitbit is back on. Adding no snacking after dinner.
So far today:
Banana, mandarin and Greek yoghurt, 2 cappuccino
Beans and v small handful potato cubes
Packet of Rolos (before I posted this morning!) Blush
Planned dinner: meatballs

I'm thinking just decent food and no crap rather than calorie count and will see how I go.
