Hello & Welcome

September has come around so quickly; children getting ready to return to school and Christmas around the corner (116 days). A time when summer is starting to fade and an autumn chill is in the air. Changing seasons is a natural transition that we echo in our day to day live’s. I for one look forward to cosy nights by the fire and mentally prepping for the coming festive season.

A part of my Christmas prep also includes dropping a few extra lbs ‘to make room’ for a little foody extravagance… and a Baileys or two 😬

Carrying on from August’s Thread this is a space for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will reap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a healthy cycle.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. Personally, I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I try to not overload on carbs etc, include a protein source with most meals and aim to glug enough water. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. I’ve weighed daily at times and weekly at other times. Do what works for you.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Sorry to hear about added pain on top of feeling lousy generally @SunshineCake1

Well done on the loss @TheRealHousewife I'm amazed with how little you eat you don't loose more?

No - I couldn't bring myself to watch Bake off last night. Cake cravings from last week were just too much !!! I'm sure I dreamt of cake too !! I haven't had a bite of cake or biscuit, chocolate or crisps since I joined you on 1st Sept. Slippery slope if I have just 1 bite, so I need to keep strong and resist.

I'm down to 12 stone 7.25, really pleased, so I think that's 1.75 lbs down from last Weds. Bloody hard work, no denying that, but really glad that its shifting. I'll be with you during Oct & a fair few months to come! I have a strong suspicion it gets much harder the longer time & more there is to loose. But shift it I must.

Happy wednesday all - sun is shining again!! And hope there are some other losses

Coffeehouse22 · 29/09/2021 09:48

Hi ladies, so sorry I've been quiet for the last 2/3 weeks....had a difficult couple of weeks with my boy. He's been waking up every hour or 2 hours screaming in the night. I'm also weaning him which is sooo hard! Not enjoying this stage at all Sad
On a positive not I've lost 1.2kg since I last posted 3 weeks ago! It's coming off very slowly but just really pleased something is working and it's giving me hope and some motivation to continue now (previously I was thinking what's the point as nothing was working anyway). I also felt sad going to baby groups and seeing mum's with younger babies who were much thinner than me.
I've also not been under 85kg for months! So really chuffed today.
I've been having healthy meals(salads and soups) but have had the odd treat here and there (can't seem to go cold turkey and cut everything out).

SW 03/09: 85.5kg
CW: 84.2kg
GW: 68kg

@buzzofthebumblebee - well done on your loss! Almost 2kg in one week is amazing! Wish I could lose that fast.

@SunshineCake1 - I haven't had time to read back at all the messages I missed but I'm so sorry you're still poorly! I hope the docs are doing something (sorry if I've missed what they've said) and that you're at least managing to get some rest...Flowers

SunshineCake1 · 29/09/2021 10:01

I found that a slow loss meant it stayed off more @buzzofthebumblebee. I think your loss for a week is excellent.

Sorry you're having a tough time with your little one @Coffeehouse22. Made me miss nannying. You are doing great. Bringing up a little one and losing weight.

TMI but I am really missing having a kiss from dh. Doctor said no kissing while I was in hospital but I was too embarrassed to ask when we could. I'm so worried about giving it to him, and DS2 is now poorly with a sore throat, as he had a heart attack 19 months ago.

fallfallfall · 29/09/2021 11:16

@TheRealHousewife. Flax eggs is a substitute for eggs that works well in baking. 2 TBSP of ground flax seed, and 5 TBSP of water. You let the mix sit a few minutes and it s texture becomes thick.

Youdoyoutoday · 29/09/2021 12:03

Morning all!!

@SunshineCake1 a kiss would make you feel better, always does for me, ask your doctor next you speak.

@Graphista glad to hear you're on the mend but don't push it to quickly, rest up! If your mind is bored, find some puzzle games to play on your phone, that should keep you ticking over.

Back up to 14.8 today so I'm going in the wrong direction but I seem to be void of all motivation this week. I went swimming Monday but yesterday I just felt so lazy I didn't want to run so I didn't do my c25k and now it's showing as my weight is going back up.
I've also been having breakfast the past few morning even if I'm not really that hungry so I didn't bother this morning.
Since exercising and not drinking (except for sunday) I've been waiting for this 'feeling more energetic' phase but I'm still not feeling it, when does it arrive? I always seem to feel tired, sluggish and generally meh!

Oh well, off to do the daily chores before DD wakes up from her nap.

Toodle pip x

SunshineCake1 · 29/09/2021 12:08

Thanks @Youdoyoutoday. If it is the nice nurse I'll ask next week when I go for my blood tests.

I don't think your weight will go up for real missing one day of running. Don't stress.

fallfallfall · 29/09/2021 15:22

@Youdoyoutoday, I was too exhausted with children underfoot and stressed on so many fronts. It wasn’t until they left home and I retired that I felt energized.
But likewise I regret putting off the weight loss and having been complacent for 20 years.
Stay focused and don’t give up.
@SunshineCake1, your no longer contagious. Kissing’s fine. Like chicken pox your contagious before you know your ill.
@TheRealHousewife, the 2-5 ratio is for 2 eggs btw. and equals 35 cals vs 75 per egg.

Youdoyoutoday · 29/09/2021 17:17

@fallfallfall don't say that, my youngest is only 2 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

SunshineCake1 · 29/09/2021 17:22

Thanks @fallfallfall. Dh has ordered a home test to see if I am. Oops.
DS2 might have covid Sad[stress].

fallfallfall · 29/09/2021 17:53

@SunshineCake1 oh my girl, stay strong.
I’m totally stressing over my upcoming trip Covid tests. We’ve never needed a test, no clue where to get the pre fight one in Montreal or where to get the day 2 one near my daughter or the 3 day prior to flight home one (which are virtually back to back as we’re only staying a week!). It’s not the test itself, but ensuring it’s the right test, and results available prior to our flight.
Then there’s all my darn produce…a massive Blue Hubbard squash and a big butternut one, plus at least 50 Roma tomatoes trying to ripen. Thankfully the carrots are fine in the dirt. I pulled up my tomato plants. Friends suggested I make green tomato mincemeat, no time for that.

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2021 19:18

Evening All

@fallfallfall Thank you for clarifying, if I’m ever short of eggs I will definitely try your egg substitute. At the moment we’ve got a glut 🥚. I hope you enjoy your trip! Be good for the soul.

@Coffeehouse22 sounds like you’ve been having a tough time of it! Don’t worry about being absent, we’ll be here when you can pop on. Please try not to compare yourself to the other mums. I know it’s hard not too. Believe you are awesome and you’re doing your absolute best for your little one and yourself. You’ve achieved a loss and it all adds up over the months. Keep going 👍

@buzzofthebumblebee That’s a great loss for the week 👍👏🥇 I'm amazed with how little you eat you don't loose more? < I’m doing great really, although and it’s very difficult considering I have a number of obstacles:- Medicated thyroid disease, disability, spinal cord injury, diagnosed slow transit (nerve damage), menopause, prescription drugs, fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, diverticula disease, coeliac, age. In fact seeing it written down I’m very lucky to not be gaining 😬. If I eat more than 1000 - 1200 I definitely gain. I have to manage myself very carefully.

@Youdoyoutoday could it be the change in seasons making you feel bluuuurr. In regards to food intake; I find if I eat breakfast (which on the rare occasions I feel hungry I do) I always eat more overall. Mostly though I don’t have appetite in the AM. I know you’ve heard it before but weight loss isn’t linear, weight & weight loss naturally fluctuates. You’ll be fine. 😊 @fallfallfall don't say that, my youngest is only 2 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ < 🤣😂🤣

@SunshineCake1 crumbs it never rains but it pours. I hope he isn’t too ill with it!

Hoping this post posts as been writing it on and off for hours 😬

Well...big gain this week! Hardly surprising after the big loss and being ill and then last few days I've been living on junk!

3.75lbs on!

I'm still under 13 stone though.

Plan is, sort this place out over next few days, next delivery will be Sunday and I'm gonna get back to my usual routine then.

I'm expecting another gain next week but hopefully after that back to being in the 🐢 club!

BUT that's 5.5lbs off for whole of Sep I'm happy with that and breaking the 13 stone barrier gonna try really hard not to slip back over it!

joysmoy66 · 30/09/2021 06:46

Ending the month on 9 st 12lb so happy with that Smile2lb loss for the month. Been rubbish at posting but hope everyone is doing ok Brew

LosetoHike · 30/09/2021 09:11

How is it the end of the month already? I feel September has absolutely sped past me! Weighed in this morning at 82.4kg so down 2.1kg this month, not as much as I was hoping for but still happy enough.

@joysmoy66 well done on your loss ans getting in the 9 stone bracket!!

LosetoHike · 30/09/2021 09:12

@Graphista similarly to you I’ve managed to (just!) get under 13 stone. Hope I never see that number again!

TheRealHousewife · 30/09/2021 09:15

Good Morning Everyone

@Graphista 5.5lbs loss in a month is fantastic! 👍👏🥇 And to break a milestone barrier is so motivating! I’m pleased you’re feeling somewhat better!

Hi @joysmoy66 that’s a great result! 👍👏🥇. Loss does slow when near goal.

I’ll post October’s Thread later today 😊.

Menu
Meal 1 - stir fry.
Meal 2 - Chicken & Bacon Schnitzel with Green Beans, Carrots, Leeks.

Where’s everyone gone? Hope everyone is ok 👍

TheRealHousewife · 30/09/2021 09:18

Crossed posted @LosetoHike That’s a great loss you’ve posted 👍🥇👏. The physiological boost from dropping into a lower stone bracket is real! Really motivating. I like your determination not to see that number again!

Crazzzycat · 30/09/2021 09:29

Well done on all your losses everyone!

I’m finishing the month on a small gain, but I can’t say I’m surprised by that! I’ve spent the last three days sampling lots and lots of delicious food. I’m sure at least some of the gain will disappear as soon as I get back to my normal eating pattern #noregrets

I’m glad you’re starting to feel a bit better @Graphista

buzzofthebumblebee · 30/09/2021 09:55

Yes - very well done on losses everyone (and a small gain is just small Crazzzy).

Thank you everyone for welcome this month, and to @TheRealHousewife for the thread and for your seriously positive mental attitude despite your health, and delicious food inspiration (that soup looks AMAZING)

I am down to 12 st 7, so officially a 9lb loss since beginning of the month. Still a way to go, but feel I'm in the right headspace for the 1st time in a very long time. Here's to October ...

LosetoHike · 30/09/2021 10:13

Well done @buzzofthebumblebee that is an AMAZING loss! Any top tips for me to steal for next month?

TheRealHousewife · 30/09/2021 10:28

My goodness @buzzofthebumblebee you smashed the Thread with that result 👍👏🥇🌟 Fantastic result!

@Crazzzycat small gain? A good poo will see that off 😬 We all need to live our lives and enjoy the ride. Sometimes that means easing off the gas and going with the flow. The thing is to not feel any guilt (which you don’t) and have #noregrets 👍

joysmoy66 · 30/09/2021 10:43

Thanks all and well done to everyone Brewwow bumblebee that's incredible!

Youdoyoutoday · 30/09/2021 11:34

Maintained this morning so still 14.8.

@TheRealHousewife it could be the change of season. Again stuck indoors because of the rain and I'm missing my outdoor pool swim, the indoor one is nice but always busy with classes and the fast swimmers in the (my) slow lane which is irritating.

Off out today for lunch with my friend so this will be a nice break from the norm.

X

Crazzzycat · 30/09/2021 11:39

That’s an excellent result @buzzofthebumblebee! Also, that’s the exact same number I saw on the scales this morning. We’re weight twins 😂

Thanks @TheRealHousewife, I totally agree that having balance is important, especially for those of us who are in this for the long run. I’ve not been very strict at all throughout September, so the small gain is no surprise. The important thing is that I now feel much more motivated to get back into a healthy eating routine than I did a few weeks ago. I’m excited for October!
