You sound much better mrs, I'm so glad. Wake up calls aren't pleasant but they are a necessary evil. 1700 is a very doable amount & you'll easily drop weight on that. Down to 164 exactly, I'd love to see a 162'ish this week. Body pump on the plan today after I do school run and before work. There, I've said it so now I have to do it😬

Mrs good news re the BP.
Gen I hope you are feeling a little more upbeat today.

Not if you haven't already done your body pump do it now before dinner.

I did 55min of HIIT this morning - I am feeling it, but had to do it to offset dinner at my parents last night. Nothing on but nothing off either.

Gensola · 01/12/2021 17:35

I’ve signed up for a PT once a week from Jan, for 12 weeks Grin time to take charge! We have booked to go back to NI for Xmas, praying that doesn’t get cancelled too!
Waiting on the partial refund coming from the Spain trip.
Have a work Xmas dinner this eve so just preparing to eat and drink to major excess 😅

Not2bObvious · 01/12/2021 17:50

Body pump done by 9am, followed by a 25 minute jog. It was only a 30 minute session but I lifted a bit heavier so it was tough, couldn't quite manage it all but definitely gave it a good go.
Wow on the hiit unescorted, that's a lot.
The PT will be great gen, very positive step. Really hope you get home for Christmas - be cautiously optimistic. I have 3 days up north post Xmas planned but if I can't do it, I'll use the cash for fun closer to home. A bit worried what restrictions they have there but in reality it can't be worse than the south. We never made it out of masks

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/12/2021 18:37

Well done on the body pump. I can’t quite face the first session Dom’s yet. Lots of steps though and lots of calories. Eating my feelings,
Pt sessions sound good gen

Not2bObvious · 01/12/2021 19:23

I listen to a lot of fitness podcasts, and there's a real snobbery about body pump. Like it's better than nothing but if you have "physique" goals it's not really the "thing"
I strongly feel like screeching f you, I was once 20-30 with no responsibilities and no injury issues. I'm now the wrong side of forty & lifting any weight without triggering a disc & subsequent bout of sciatica means this is as good as it gets. It's bloody tough enough, well for youse with your fitness snobbery. Piss off, come back when you grow up.
Rant over

Scales reporting 163.6 today so that's good. Next target in happy scale is 162.8 - according to my average loss rate it'll take another week. And final first goal of 159 will take another 13 weeks til March. Best not cock up to badly over Christmas or it'll be years😂
I wonder if I'd be able to drop my calories enough to lose 1lb a week. I average 1800, 1500 would probably do it. I wonder if I could do it for the next 3 weeks? Hmmm

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 02/12/2021 08:26

There is not and not justified imo. Lots of “serious” gym goers dis it - it doesn’t work, to easy to get injured, pft not in my experience

Walk to station today for fitness

Gensola · 02/12/2021 09:31

I have no time for that sort of snobbery - the fittest I have ever been was when I was a member of a posh gym and went to a class 5 days a week - barre, body pump, circuits and two spin classes. I was a very toned rake! Didn't do much other exercise either.
I have a hangover Grin
A fitness influencer I follow is encouraging people to do a December challenge of walking or running an additional 3 miles per day and tagging her. I missed yesterday but think I am going to try doing it for the rest of the month.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/12/2021 09:50

3 miles!! Good grief

Not2bObvious · 02/12/2021 10:40

Maybe I'll try 2 miles a day! I probably did close to 2 miles with my 25 min jog yesterday & that I'm able for. I'll get 45 minute walk in later after work, that'll work for today's 2 miles. Might push for 3 next week.
Was it someone here who mentioned get fit with Rick? I was like a slug Monday but did 3 of his walking things, around 27 mins in total. Very enjoyable.

Did you have fun acquiring the hangover gen? Hope it lifts soon, my hangovers are the gift that gives for nearly 2 days😫

l feel your fear over Sciatica it is absolutely awful !
Mrsmadevans · 02/12/2021 17:14

Well done on the steps life Smile
Not brilliant on the weigh in today well done Smile
Gen hope you feel recovered from the hangover Flowers
Have been fine thankfully, am a bit at a loss about how much salt l need to eat a day , l am presently not really having any extra salt on food so l don't really know . Chicken stir fry tonight, no sauce or seasoning except a dried Chilli flakrd Hmm

Unescorted · 02/12/2021 18:23

gen hope the hangover is over. I always feel grim for days after.

I can't do with exercise snobbery. If you like it and you do it then crack on. In the summer we get a lot of trail runners out this way... Many who give the side eyes to the fell runners until they realise that frail old dear is keeping up fine up on the hills and hasn't broken a sweat.

Not nice work. You can do a pound a week. I would try to do lots of little changes... half the milk in tea, leave the crusts from the toast /sandwiches, only butter one slice of bread in the sandwich, serve the amount you would and take one beige thing off, reduce servings by 15%.... They quickly add up.

Not2bObvious · 02/12/2021 19:25

I have very little low hanging fruit unescorted - I don't take milk or sugar in my tea, I don't eat butter on sandwiches - only toast and I rarely eat buttered toast. I never even ate butter until I was 18😂 I was the weird kid that could never eat a sandwich in anyone else's house, no amount of persuasion could make me eat buttered sandwich!
I think I'll try come down from 1800 to 1700 to start, cutting by 300 immediately might be too much. Can't trigger an eat everything session. Got a 25 min jog done, then a 40 minute brisk walk. Happy with that

My diet is full of easy to give up things. Wine, reduce the fat, chocolate, sweets, shop bought cakes and biscuits. The only thing I am really missing is crisps.
I have found out I love raw mushrooms. They have a similar mouth feel to crisps.

Not2bObvious · 02/12/2021 21:42

Oh my diets fit to burst with wine, crisps, chocolate 😂 Ok, not chocolate this month but the rest. If only I found them easy to give up. The slow weight loss is no mystery...
You are so lucky you can eat raw mushrooms instead of crisps, that is one hell of a calorie saver. Good source of vitamin D I think as well 🤔

Unescorted · 03/12/2021 06:50

I don't like the greasy mouth feel of chocolate and shop bought cakes and biscuits. All the hydrogenated palm oil sticks to my teeth. As soon as I started thinking about the texture of foods it was quite easy because the feel of it out weighed the taste joy from the sugar. I was sensitive to food texture as a kid so not as odd as it sounds. It is why I find fruit problematic but love the crispiness of raw vegetables. Salad with a good bucket of dressing is my idea of heaven. Floury apples and mushy tomatoes are enough to make me gag.

Realistically I am not going get to jeans weight by Christmas so I have spent the jeans money on a turbo trainer.

Not2bObvious · 03/12/2021 07:19

Had to look up turbo trainer, never knew that's what they were called. Gosh that's an unpleasant sensation to get, no fear I'd get that! I don't buy cakes - I bake my own, mainly 'cos I'm too mean to pay for underwhelming cakes when I can underwhelm my family for a fraction of the price😂 I very rarely eat them either as by the time I've worked out the calories I'm too mean to spend them on cake. I am very mean it would appear. Waiting for ahem, nature to take its course, then I'll do my Friday weigh in.

Hit my next target of 162.8 - now I have a new pound to yo yo up & down from. Absolutely delighted, nice way to start the weekend.

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 03/12/2021 07:44

Well done not
And unescorted buy a turbo. You’ll be in zwifit next

Travel yesterday and treats = diet disaster

Unescorted · 03/12/2021 08:21

Zwift annoys me - I suspect it is the subscription and the willy waving of the Zwift users I know. All I "rode" the Tourmalet 0.0000000279 seconds faster than you. Quite sweetheart - I am a 50+ menopausal woman who last rode a bike 2 years ago and that was on the flat on the way back from the pub.

Unescorted · 03/12/2021 08:23

not well done on reaching you next yo yo point.
