18 weeks until Christmas

Readytostartagain · 21/08/2021 07:42

It’s 18 weeks until Christmas and I would love to be 25lbs lighter by then. I want to do lots of self care as well as 50s skin is looking very dry and elephant like.

Plan is 10,000 steps no snacking, lots more vegetables and daily yoga. Does anyone want to join me?

I'm putting off properly trying until next week when things will invariably be easier as DD2 will be at college and DD1 will be heading back to uni house as phased return to life there. Miraculously I have maintained my 1 stone weight loss from May/June despite pretty much eating what I want. I have taken this to be a good sign that when I get back to dieting my calories should decrease significantly and pounds will drop away.... please Grin Well done everyone with your sustained efforts KOKO

Zingz · 25/08/2021 16:11

Well done @funnybones1234, I'm pleased for you. Keep going.

funnybones1234 · 25/08/2021 17:59

@Zingz thanks so much

@WinterWeightlossGoal

Hi! This is such a good idea of setting Christmas as a goal :)

I lost about 10kg earlier this year by lowish carbing and 16:8, but a few weeks of holidays, camping trips and being too relaxed about food and wine means I have put back on 5kg 😭

My current weight is 85kg and my goal is 70kg. My main motivation is fertility related, I've been suffering from secondary infertility for about 3 years and all tests have come back normal, so I'm thinking it must be my weight stopping things happening. My DS is 4.5 now so there will be a much bigger aged gap than we planned if we manage to have another one.

I always think its amazing when people actually manage to lose the weight! Well done on 10kg, now you know you can do it and you've got what it takes to commit and understand what your body needs.
Fluffyhairdontcare · 25/08/2021 18:52

@Zingz

Well yesterday was a total diet failure for me so am just moving on today.

Just took the dog out for a long walk and am now contemplating mopping the kitchen floor. Could my life be anymore exciting!

I am pleased that good progress is being made by you all.

Well done just moving past it. I think one of the hardest things is drawing a line under bad days and getting back on track.
Submariner · 25/08/2021 19:27

I'm enjoying reading everyone's progress. I've kept pretty much on track, food hasn't been perfect, but I feel like I have got to that stage where I can tell when I'm full, and I'm not missing the evening pig out sessions! One thing I really enjoy about (sort of) intermittent fasting is feeling hunger pangs and satiety, and really looking forward to my meals.

I've kept up the runs and walking, and today I weighed and I've lost another 1.5 lbs, so I'm really pleased and motivated to continue. :)

funnybones1234 · 25/08/2021 19:37

@Submariner amazing. Feels so good when you can see it working doesn't it, well done x

Submariner · 25/08/2021 19:50

Thanks @funnybones1234 - not quite catching up with you yet, but it's a start! 😊

SmallGreenStripes · 25/08/2021 20:24

Working for me too Grin

Four pounds down in four days! Woohoo!
(21 to go ……..)

Readytostartagain · 25/08/2021 20:57

@Zingz don’t worry about a bad day we all have them but tomorrow is a new start. We’re not aiming for perfection just to be a bit lighter by Christmas than we are now

WinterWeightlossGoal · 25/08/2021 21:23

@Juno231 Sounds like we have the same motivation for losing weight. I read somewhere that losing 5-10% of body weight can kick start fertility so I hope that will be the case for me! I'll keep everything crossed for your IVF 🤞

@Fluffyhairdontcare thanks for the encouraging words, I was feeling a bit downhearted but you are right I know that I can do it :)

Roussette · 26/08/2021 07:21

Hi everyone, hope it's OK if I join in.

I gained massively in lockdowns from breadmaking. Delicious bread which I am now missing a lot! Why couldn't I have had a knitting hobby instead?!

I started off at 13st.11lb
Goal weight 10st 11lb.
Current weight 11st. 8lbs

So I am two thirds of the way there, but I feel it's a fragile position to be in.

I'm fed up with being so careful, I'm due to be abroad for a period when it might well all go to pot, so having a thread that can inspire me will really help.

I had to buy new scales and have just weighed my self and I weigh more than when I started on Sunday. I was upset at first but realistically weighing 2.5lbs more on new scales is ok. Could have been far worse and been two stones extra.

New starting weight is 11st 2.75lbs

StickersStickers · 26/08/2021 09:41

Really good fast day yesterday. Pretty much just had dinner, which was stir fry chicken and veg.

I’ve had breakfast today so only a 13 hour fast (I’m doing 16:8) but I’ll still be within my calories for today.

StickersStickers · 26/08/2021 09:43

Zingz Try not to think of it as weighing more - you weigh the same (probably less), the numbers are just slightly different. I do understand though the slightly deflated feeling. If you still had the old scales you could compare l.

fingersdoublecrossed · 26/08/2021 09:57

Morning everyone!
I've been eating more mindfully for ten days now with calorie counting when I remember. I still haven't hopped on the scales so I don't have a starting weight and I don't know if or what I've lost so far... BUT I already feel so much better so I've decided to continue not to weigh for a bit longer while I embed healthier habits.
I'm really enjoying reading this thread to hear how everyone's doing and it's also making me really excited for Christmas!

Zingz · 26/08/2021 09:57

@StickersStickers yes the old scales just kept flickering even though I tried two new batteries. No two scales are going to weigh exactly the same.

Hi @Roussette, bread is definitely my downfall! It's an all or nothing thing for me.

Im happy to say that I'm 1.3lbs down from Sunday. I've stopped snacking and been eating 3 meals a day. I've noticed that having breakfast and lunch have really helped to curb my sugar cravings in the afternoons. Been sticking to one serving at dinner. Not managed much exercise beyond a bit of walking for chores each day and I'm on my period this week so having some dark chocolate each day for the iron!

Midgetwithaplan · 26/08/2021 10:55

Hi

I know I'm a bit late but can I join you? Currently the heaviest I've ever been at 12st7 and really want to lose at least 2st7 to get back inside a healthy BMI, and to look great in the holiday photos next year!

18lbs by Xmas would be fantastic, but I love round numbers, so I'm really aiming for 21lb to get to a round 11st...

Plans involve 10k steps per day, plenty of fruit/veg and water, trying to eat only 3 meals a day and I've also contacted a personal trainer to see if we can work together (holidays next year are v active so I need to improve my fitness)

Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress

Roussette · 26/08/2021 11:09

I, too, am on 16/8. I find it fine because I've always not fancied breakfast so it suits me. I have to force myself to eat breakfast. I don't get hunger pangs or feel faint or anything like that.

That .. and walking for me I think has helped.

Fluffy Well done on the 1.3lbs loss !
I love love love bread and pasta and rice and potatoes.
I do have rice and potatoes (small portion) but the only bread I have is homemade pizza, make the dough myself, on a Friday night.
If I deprive myself of absolutely everything I will just give in and give up.
So Friday nights are the highlight of my week!

sparklyglitterball · 26/08/2021 20:05

Hey all, I've had a good couple of days healthy eating wise and managed a run both days too. Lots of running around with the dc too, so step counts have been around 17 k. Slightly concerned that the party we're going to this weekend which will include buffet food, cocktails etc might undo the good work. I'm always a carb/sugar monster with a hangover too!

sparklyglitterball · 26/08/2021 20:09

@Roussette and @StickersStickers I'm also doing a version of 16:8, but always allow myself a little chocolate in the evenings as part of overall calorie intake........so probably more like a 14:10 in reality!! But I find skipping breakfast and not eating until lunchtime if I can manage that long does help to reduce calories overall and makes me a bit less hungry.

Roussette · 26/08/2021 20:13

Agree sparkly ! It seems to be working for me. I've never been a breakast person anyway...
of course if someone cooked me a full english I wouldn't say no! But it's not a meal I crave, so easiest to fit into 16/8
A little chocolate is a gooooood thing!

StickersStickers · 26/08/2021 20:36

I’m actually looking forward to next week. My girls go back to school and I find it so much easier to skip breakfast when I get back into routine. I do have breakfast with the kids at the weekend because I never want them to see me skipping meals or not eating.

Submariner · 26/08/2021 20:50

For some reason I decided to weigh again today (don't normally weigh every day) and I'm down another 1.8lbs. I'm really chuffed with that.

Interesting to hear the intermittent fasters saying you don't crave breakfast. I am working my way up to a 16:8 but breakfast is my favourite meal of the day! I know I'll soon get to a point where I have to decide whether to eat lunchy foods or breakfasty foods for the first meal of the day.
