18 weeks until Christmas

Readytostartagain · 21/08/2021 07:42

It’s 18 weeks until Christmas and I would love to be 25lbs lighter by then. I want to do lots of self care as well as 50s skin is looking very dry and elephant like.

Plan is 10,000 steps no snacking, lots more vegetables and daily yoga. Does anyone want to join me?

Havnt read full thread but im in! My wedding is in December and would love to lose 2 stone by then.

OkyDoke · 22/08/2021 21:29

Would love to join I too, would love 18lbs by Christmas, I have many to lose 😂 will fire up MFP again and aim for 8000 steps a day to start!

Submariner · 23/08/2021 06:39

Can I join? I started last week but 18lbs off by Christmas would be great for me and put me in a much healthier place.

Starting weight: 11st
Current weight: 10st 12.6lbs
Goal weight by Christmas: 9st 7lbs

As I said I had a good start last week. My plan for this week is:
Eating window of 8am-7pm (I'm gradually reducing this)
Fruit or veg with every meal, option of a fruit/veg snack morning and afternoon. Protein with every meal.
10,000 steps per day
A run or a walk every day (I'm working through C25K but have run before so progressing it slightly quicker)
Alcohol 2 nights a week (and limited to one bottle of wine - when it's gone it's gone!)
This week I would like to add in one yoga session at some point.

2RedShoes · 23/08/2021 07:03

My first day went well. I had a 'proper breakfast' which is really unusual for me- natural yoghurt, some nuts and a slice of toast. I was full after that.I also walked for 30 minutes.

Like you @fuckingsickofcovid I am also about to start some self care and have a tooth whitening appointment next month - I booked it in January but the waiting list was that long! It's just for an initial consultation also! I need to get my hair sorted and just need to pay more attention all round really.

Zingz · 23/08/2021 07:31

Me too with the self care. I have a cupboard full of beauty products that are just gathering dust. I've been so fed up with my fatness that I stopped bothering with hair, make up etc.

I have just full body exfoliated, shaved and moisturised. Honestly, my skin feels amazing and well worth the bother. Have been sorting nails and eyebrows, had a clay face mask and hair mask. I sanded my feet a couple of days ago and slept in Vaseline and socks. Oh and last night used some face tanning drops.

I will be a goddess, repeat, I will be a goddess 😂

SheepBah · 23/08/2021 07:48

Can I join too?! Just weighed myself and at 14st4 I'm the heaviest I've ever been.

I've got mfp but usually fail as I don't actually fill it in. Will try and get into the habit of actually having breakfast and logging as I go.

Good luck everyone!

ListenLinda · 23/08/2021 08:16

Weighed in at 14st 6. Ready to get cracking on this now!

funnybones1234 · 23/08/2021 08:26

Hiya! Joining in too!
I started calorie counting 3 weeks ago and already feel so much better - just using the MFP app, also doing 10,000 steps and tracking on my Apple Watch. I have joined the gym with the hope to swim minimum of twice a week but have only managed two swims so far as my toddler and baby have been so poorly the last couple of weeks it's been very testing!

Had some good progress on the scales already but would love to lose a big chunk by Xmas!

Start weight - 13 stone 5lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 11lbs
Target weight - 11 stone

I am 5ft 3 so should probably aim for lower than 11 stone but that's the lowest I've been in my adult life so figured I'd set the goal achievable and go from there. So 25lbs more to go for me!

funnybones1234 · 23/08/2021 08:27

@SheepBah MFP gets easier after a few days as it remembers your regular foods / meals. Stick with it as it does help!

Zingz · 23/08/2021 08:28

@ListenLinda I am feeling ready to deal with the fatness now too. I'm setting my target at 1lbs per week so I don't actually feel any pressure with that. 18lbs by Christmas would be so good and is definitely doable.

Hello to the new joiners abs good luck.

Fluffyhairdontcare · 23/08/2021 09:01

Weighed myself this morning and SW is 190.7lbs so I'll be 172.7lbs by Christmas by losing 1lb a week.

I also like the self care element too. I'm getting my nails done on Thursday and started piano lessons!

I've just had a bowl of porridge with a piece of dark chocolate, tbsp of peanut butter and a sprinkling of macha powder.

Morethanthis71 · 23/08/2021 09:54

Woken up with tonsillitis so my self care for today will be paracetamol and antibiotics. Still hungry though! Breakfast of fruit. I don't anticipate much exercise today. I am not going to weigh myself till Sunday, I must get out of the weighing myself every day routine. Good luck everyone this week!

Canibringmyfriendtotea · 23/08/2021 10:10

Morning all! Hope everyone's Monday is going well.

I have a walk done and had porridge oats, yoghurt, mixed seeds, Strawberries and raspberries for breakfast. I downloaded an app to keep track of what I'm eating and am finding it helpful.

SW: 14st3lbs
CW: 12st6lbs
GW: 11st10lbs

Love the idea of adding in some self care - heading to the chemist later and am going to pick up some new nail varnish. Can't remember when I last took proper time over my nails!

ClaraLane · 23/08/2021 10:22

Morning everyone, I’d like to join in if I may please! DS has just turned 1 and I weigh the same now as I did when I gave birth 😭 I haven’t felt too bad about the way I look until I went clothes shopping yesterday as I’m back at work on Wednesday and ended up in tears. I desperately need to shift some weight but also become healthier overall. I’ve been having counselling recently which has made me realise I deserve to take time for myself and stop using all my energy up on the kids. Are we sharing MFP usernames?

Onesmallstep67 · 23/08/2021 10:24

I’d love to join too please. I began tackling my weight over 2 years ago and originally lost almost 4 stones. 2020 saw a big chunk of that regained. I finally got my head back in the right place in early summer and I lost a stone pretty easily. Had COVID, stalled again and have been ‘enjoying’ summer a bit too much. I’d definitely be delighted to lose 18lbs by Christmas and that would see me back to my pre pandemic weight. Good luck everyone.

hellsbells99 · 23/08/2021 10:38

Can I join you too please. Made up my mind a few days ago that I really need to tackle my weight. I have lost 2lbs since then. I need to lose a good 5 stone really so I am going to aim for 2 stone by Christmas. I did lose a stone last year but unfortunately I have put it back on this year.
Planning on healthy eating with some shake substitutes when I need the convenience and 10,000 steps a day. Went back to my Zumba class at the weekend so a positive start.
Good luck everyone.

StickersStickers · 23/08/2021 11:35

I’m in! I started at 12 stone last week and am 3 pounds down this morning. Happy days.

I’m doing a hybrid of my own design of 16:8 & 5:2. I’m just calorie counting (not worrying about carbs or protein at the moment, trying to keep it simple). Will start doing home workouts when my kids go back to school next week. DH does them with me and he’s a lot more disciplined about it than me so he keeps me motivated!

DollyPartBaked · 23/08/2021 13:33

I want to join.

SW: 11st 1.5lbs
GW for Christmas: 9st 5lbs

I've put on more than 2 stone in the last couple of years from lockdown and babies and am heading back to work in January so I need to shift some or buy a whole new wardrobe!

I'm largely following weightwatchers, stopping snacking and drinking less wine on the sofa.

Today I've had fruit and natural yoghurt and a chicken salad for lunch. Very diet-y!

SmallGreenStripes · 23/08/2021 15:36

Hope you are all doing well! Day two here and I am focusing on eating 10 veg and fruit a day. Managed 10 yesterday, doing well too today. Greenhouse is getting raided a lot! It definitely helps me to focus on what I can rather than what I can’t eat. I am not ruling anything out busy must meet my 10. I am hoping that means I don’t have much room for a lot else!

lulu12345 · 23/08/2021 15:37

Day 2 and I’m already bloody starving. Thank god for the peer pressure / motivation of this group as I’d prob have cracked (into the biscuits) already. 😅

Zingz · 23/08/2021 17:54

@lulu12345 I'm on day two as well and bloody starving.

SnowyMouse · 23/08/2021 18:32

I nearly had a wobble just now, but I caught myself. Well done lulu!

sar302 · 23/08/2021 18:51

I'm joining here please! The thought of weight loss can be so overwhelming, but the thought that I could be 20lbs lighter by the new year at a sensible pace has really brightened my thoughts about the whole thing!

I have:

Recently started a gym programme.
I will be getting rid of white carbs at dinner time.
I will be getting up to move after dinner. We've got into the habit of eating on the sofa after toddler is in bed and then just sitting there til bed time.

I must be one of the only people that was thrilled that the weather has been so shit this summer as I couldn't face the thought of summer clothes Confused

DollyPartBaked · 23/08/2021 19:06

@sar302 I'm interested to know what you will do after dinner - we are in the exact same routine! I've been so knackered by the time the evening rolls around I do literally nothing. But hopefully my baby is starting to sleep a bit better so I will have more energy!

Readytostartagain · 23/08/2021 20:36

Look after yourself @Morethanthis71 and get better soon. @lulu12345 don’t be too strict if you’re starving you’re much more likely to give up- slow and steady definitely seems to work better for me. Had a good couple of days not perfect meals but no snacking and booked for gel nails tomorrow for a bit of self care.
