Hello and a warm welcome to new & established members. July already! Lockdown easing and an end in sight! Hallelujah! Let’s embrace the summer and extending freedoms feeling like our best selves.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will reap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a healthy cycle.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. Personally, I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I try to not overload on carbs etc, include a protein source with most meals and aim to glug enough water. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. I’ve weighed daily at times and weekly at other times. Do what works for you.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Start may 14: 88.8kg
Last week: 87kg
Today: 87.5kg

Not going great. I do wonder if the result is accurate since I'm very bloated today so could be something that is fixed tomorrow! However, I need to get a grip again anyway. I'm not slipping since I'm not on a diet but could do a bit better had not get eveyhrign I want all the time.

My knee is a lot better after my ridiculous fall1. Still hurts but I don't feel like crying after every step so that's good! So no exercise for me I'm a while.

swampytiggaa · 07/07/2021 07:15

@SunshineCake

Sounds great *@swampytiggaa* but I don't have Facebook.
They have a website for the challenges fb is just for encouragement 😊

Endtoend.co.uk. They started in first lockdown and it’s grown like mad.

swampytiggaa · 07/07/2021 09:24

Weighed myself this morning. 10.5lb down from my starting weight in February 😄

That may not sound much over the time but I was top end of normal bmi and now I’m in the middle 😊 my clothes are fitting better and my tummy is slowly shrinking. Tbh I’ll always have a tummy… I’ve carried 5 babies to full term in there so any improvement is brilliant!

I’ve mostly achieved this by upping my activity levels… not just the running and walking but just my daily steps. I’ve cut out biscuits and crisps (with the odd blip) and cut right back on chocolate. I’m trying to eat more healthily too. And I’ve upped my water intake.

I’m mindful that at 51 I still have 15+ years to go at work in a pretty physical job. I need to keep as fit and healthy as I can. Also we have a family history of cancer so my aim has always been to stay as healthy as I can in case I need treatment. I owe that to my children don’t I?

Anyway I’m going to keep on keeping on with what I’m doing and see how it goes 😊

CescaCesca · 07/07/2021 09:40

Sorry if this msg appears twice, tried to post once already but I can't see it:

Waves to Sunshine 😊 well done on your running- 22k 😳 so impressive!!!
Hello Swampy & Thankyou Graphista!
5 babies Swampy!!! My OH wants 5, we are at 2 so far 🤣 not sure i can do the sleepless nights for another 3 babies!!

I can be rubbish at drinking water too, I have a beasty 2.2 Litre water bottle which does really help as I can see when I've drunk very little for the day and how much I need to get through! Recommend!! The pic shows it next to a 500ml bottle - it's massive 😂

Also sharing a pic of my yummy smoothie bowl for breakfast this morning 🤤 was delicious!!

Hi swampytiggaa thank you for the welcome. Smile 10.5lb is awesome! Star Well done on all the physical activity too! Sounds like you are doing really well. Smile
Hi everyone Smile I'm feeling good today as I didn't binge last night (Had nothing in so couldn't!). Had really, really strong cravings. I'm so happy today though as usually I'd wake feeling really bad about myself for giving in and binging and feel guilty and disappointed. Not today though! Feel really good! Smile

Graphista · 07/07/2021 11:16

@Rewis don't beat yourself up, everyone has gains sometimes. Get back on track and move forward

@swampytiggaa that's a great loss! Well done!

5 babies is a lot! For a body to go through I mean. Lovely to have a large family.

I'm actually having breakfast! I'll wait while you guys recover from the shockGrin

Tesco knock off special k with berries, skimmed milk and granulated sweetener, banana and apple juice - so getting my fluids in.

Planned meals

Lunch - veggie fridge raiders, the rest of the Quorn fillets and salad. Celery and hummus

Dinner - baked potato with egg Mayo sandwich filling

Snack - 2 feta filo mini parcels

This meal planning lark is quite good, saves a lot of procrastinating which is usually what makes me end up eating late. So I'm going to try and do
it again for next week, starting with what I already have in so will hopefully help me control my food shop too.

Waiting for an Amazon delivery today so that'll gimme something to do

swampytiggaa · 07/07/2021 11:19

I’m considering doing pukka pie and chips for tea. We had it on Saturday and England won…

TheRealHousewife · 07/07/2021 11:31

Good Morning All

Welcome back @MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat … I hope your housing situation improves! The whole system needs an overall! We’re looking to move but house prices through the roof. I know it’s all relative. It might calm down now the stamp duty benefit is near its end. Well done on your awesome progress! 👍👏🌟

@73kittycat73 @Graphista thank you! Feeling stronger today, so that’s very welcome. I’ve not noticed much disruption to my online food shops. Hope it improves for you soon. Do you have tinned toms? I’d use the mince Quorn, add onions fried off, tinned toms, s&p, dried herbs. Have with rice 🍚. I realise this might be too late 😬

A warm welcome back @CescaCesca, you’ll soon be back into it! You’ve made such good progress to date. Ive learnt this weight management malarkey is a journey and not a destination. The secret is in making it enjoyable as well as sustainable. Oh my what a big bottle you have! 😬

Sounds like a good plan @SunshineCake … I hope your knee soon recovers!

Yup @swampytiggaa pesky hormones can wreck havoc on appetite! Sticking to whole food, made from scratch meals is said to help but not always possible when people have super busy lives. The water is good for us and aids everything … glug, glug, glug 😬. Great progress since February 👍👏🌟

@Rewis be kind to yourself, falling is a proper shock to the system! In the scheme of things your small gain won’t matter. You need to get yourself healed and feel better ❤️‍🩹 Once your movement increases you’ll soon be back losing.

I’m very pleased to say Im down to a weight I haven’t seen since the end of last year. It’s very welcome and I’ll do all I reasonably can to carry on and not go into reverse again 😣

Great results ladies! Carry on and keep going 👍

I'm down to last tin of tinned tomatoes - you've just reminded me! So adding to list

I had spiced cous cous in the end, kinda a jewelled cous
Cous idea

So far for next week I have

FRI - pasta
SAT - might have that spiced cous cous again it was lovely
SUN - picnic tea (falafel, sliced fillets, cherry tomatoes, crudites, maybe some sundried tomatoes and mozzarella pearls in pesto I have in - need to check the cals)
MON - stir fry
TUE - fritatta or maybe might try shakshuka for first time
WED - a Cajun veggie rice dish inspired by a bbc good food recipe. I got a thing of Cajun spices as a weird sub at start of lockdown last year and this will be an opportunity to try it
THU - tinned meal (busy day)

Trying to keep up the variety.

I have veggie pastrami in I'm looking forward to trying for lunches, no idea what it tastes like. What does pastrami normally taste like?

73kittycat73 · 07/07/2021 12:39

I’m very pleased to say Im down to a weight I haven’t seen since the end of last year.
Well done TheRealHousewife, you must be really pleased! Star Are you planning on losing anymore, or are you maintaining now?
I have no idea what pastrami is let alone what it tastes like Graphista! Grin
Food has moved on a lot since I used to go out. Half the stuff I don't know how to pronounce let alone know what to do with it! Grin Trying to pronounce falafel without hearing the word before was fun. always get confused with houmous and couscous too. I know one is made from crushed chickpeas?

SunshineCake · 07/07/2021 13:08

Houmous is the chick pea one @73kittycat73.

Well done everyone. Will post properly later. Just having a quick lunch before DS goes to stay at his grandparents for a couple of days.

Did 10km ish this morning to ease my body back in then made three flags for the window 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

joysmoy66 · 07/07/2021 14:13

Well done swampy and real housewife!

TheRealHousewife · 07/07/2021 14:20

Regular pastrami is beef based @Graphista. Find it typically in a Reubens Sandwich. I like it! I’ve no idea what the veggie version would taste like. Perhaps highly seasoned. You’ll have to let us know.

Thank you @73kittycat73. My BMI is currently 27.8. Last year I reached goal and then a bout of illness/pain meds and taking eye of the ball saw me gain a considerable amount of weight very quickly! I’m wanting to get BMI around 24 so have a way to go. I know I’ll get there again. I’ve just looked back over my graphs and charts and noticed I was at goal in September 2020. Realistically I could reach goal again by then. I just need stable health, due diligence and sticking to plan 😬

@73kittycat73 Ive just worked out that I’d need to lose 1.5lbs each and every week to reach BMI 25. 🤔 Might have to revise my expectations…. Don’t want to set myself up to fail.
