Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Not doing too badly here. I did have a cherry scone with butter mid afternoon, but I made them for FIL, who was doing a bit of joinery for us, so I figured I needed to test them. I mean, I could have poisoned him! I usually can't stop at one, but this time I did.

We had a Chinese takeaway (King Prawn Szechuan with boiled rice and a bit of fried rice). DP and I always share a meal, so not an outrageous amount of food and I didn't bother with prawn crackers or any other extras. 'Twas deliciousSmile

Got up for a run at 6.30am. I can't believe I just typed thatGrinGrin

Usually I have a glass of wine on a Friday and Saturday, which lowers my resistance, thus leading to uncontrolled scoffing. So, no wine tonight, but I might indulge tomorrow.

Hope everybody's doing ok.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 11/06/2021 22:30

Well done @zippityzip!! That's about 2 stone off for me!

I did my run @FunnyWonder and although I did see someone I knew at the end of it, by then I'd turned into my alter ego Ms Tomato Face, so I don't think they recognised me Wink

Thank you for the workout videos recommendations @Mulletsaremisunderstood! I do some of the Joe Wicks ones and occasionally the Shred when I'm feeling brave - also used to enjoy my Davina DVDs, but we actually don't have a DVD player any more, which is a pain. I used to love step classes back in the day, will have to try those ones.

I've done 21K steps today, moved furniture in the boiling heat and not even had a glass of wine. If the scales haven't shifted downwards on Monday I'll be severely miffed!

unicornsandchocolate · 11/06/2021 23:09

Day #5 has not been a great day for me. I haven't logged my calories in MFP as I know I'm over. A bit disappointing but I always knew weekends would be a struggle for me. I just need to be more careful tomorrow and Sunday. I also hope to jog both days.
I like the idea of competition but at the moment I don't have scales so am just working on clothes and MFP valediction!
I do think, generally, the social aspect is the main motivator for me-so this thread is grea!

FunnyWonder · 11/06/2021 23:29

Ms Tomato FaceGrin We could be twins!

poorpaws · 12/06/2021 07:51

Good morning everybody, it’s wicked weekend! I call it wicked because most of us cave at the weekend and our excuse usually is, it’s the weekend. Therefore it has to be very wicked.

Let us all try At least to do damage limitation this weekend because come Monday most of us will be weighing. I don’t feel that any pounds have fallen away yet but we’ll see on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend everybody whatever you are doing but just bear in mind we want to get slim. 😀

Damage limitation is definitely the way forwards!

Not brilliant here but not that bad either. I avoided buying treats in M&S which was also great for the budget - it has been an expensive month!

B- black coffee
L- 4 small scrambled eggs (need to buy large next time!) with grainy mustard, carrot & celery sticks, small amount of low-cal dip

Met friend for 1 glass Pimms
D- Lamb jalfrezi, plain cous cous, 2 large glasses white wine

Oops Blush on the alcohol front, but it helps to log it here.

Meeting someone for brunch this morning eek but hopefully it will be okayish. Another brunch tomorrow, socialising this weekend! Might be tricky. My lack of exercise is not good but I am back with DP next week so we will do more outdoorsy stuff.

JohnSteinbeck · 12/06/2021 08:03

Meant to add, still trying to work out what to do about those fatgirl jeans. They look awful on me, but at least I have a pair of jeans for outdoorsy stuff. They might motivate me to slimming to get into them!

MegBusset · 12/06/2021 09:38

Morning all Smile I got up at 8am and went for a 5k run Shock my first in months. I have a long-term health condition which can make running tricky but it's under control with medication at the moment so thought I'd give it a go. Didn't break any speed records but really enjoyed it.

I really think that not drinking alcohol is the key for me. But it's so hard to untangle from areas of my life where it's been a constant for 25+ years.

poorpaws · 12/06/2021 09:43

@JohnSteinbeck I would just wear the jeans. I’ve bought two pairs (both different, both look awful on me) but I’m wearing them (well one pair because the second pair are a bit tight) because they’re all I’ve got to wear. My bottom looks enormous in them but it won’t be this big one day 🤞🏻

I’m weighing on Tuesdays and having a fast day on Mondays - I thought it might feel more encouraging! I was out last night for a special occasion so decided not to restrict myself. But I was pleased that I found my appetite had definitely reduced, I only managed about half of my meal.

MrsMime · 12/06/2021 17:14

4 lbs off so far this week. Went shopping this am with all the kids and treated them to a cake at Costa. I couldn't resist Confused but didn't eat any lunch so I'm still within my calories for today!

Eviebeans · 12/06/2021 17:44

Hi everyone hope you're all having a good weekend-have managed to avoid cake, chocolate today but having bbq with family tomorrow so hope I don't go too far off track. Wanted something different to wear so decided to visit our local charity shop to pick up some tops. Hoping to be able to treat myself to something new when a bit of weight comes off. Feeling better for having improved my diet this week whether I lose weight or not.

Eviebeans · 12/06/2021 17:45

Well done to MrsMime

poorpaws · 12/06/2021 17:54

@MrsMime that’s a very good loss and it’s not even a week, well done you.

@Eviebeans good that you avoided cake and chocolate today. Do your best tomorrow, that’s all you can do.

I’m trying hard to avoid chocolate tonight but the cravings have started already. I have some raspberries but failing that it will be a chocolate covered rice bar (not many calories) but I don’t usually stop at one.

OP posts:
Eviebeans · 12/06/2021 18:04

Sometimes when the chocolate cravings are bad I have a cup of chocolate drink -not great but so much better than chocolate cos I can't stop once I start

MrsMime · 12/06/2021 18:21

Bliss bars are good because they're chewy so they last a bit longer.

MrsMime · 12/06/2021 18:22

Thanks @poorpaws and @Eviebeans I always lose a lot in the first week because my body is going 'what the hell?!'

Eviebeans · 12/06/2021 18:39

Lol I think my poor body is still saying what the hell were you doing putting all this weight on me 🙄

FunnyWonder · 12/06/2021 18:41

Yay MrsMime!! That's brilliant. I'm scared to get on the scales.

Planning on having a treat or two this evening, but trying to rein it in. We went for a good long walk in a forest park today. Plenty of hills! The DC had ice cream, but I didn't, mainly because I'd rather have something to look forward to after dinner, like some chocolate or a Magnum. I think I need to be able to enjoy a few treats without thinking 'well, I've blown it now, might as well just stuff my face for the next month or four' - which is what usually happensBlush

We're having homemade pizza tonight. I'll just have a couple of slices and fill up with salad. I normally have a LOT of coleslaw, but will see if I can do without. But wine is definitely happening! The bread maker's rattling away here doing all the hard work with the pizza dough while I sit on my backside drinking tea.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 12/06/2021 19:58

I hope everyone is doing ok, can't believe it's been nearly a week. I'm getting more used to being a bit hungry in the evenings.

Today wasn't great food wise. I went for a 10k walk which felt good, but then I had some lovely indian for lunch which I'm sure was full of calories. Also had another cornetto, and 4 chocolate biscuits this evening.

My weigh in is tomorrow, so hopefully it will all somehow magically melt away... I have been exercising pretty consistently so fingers crossed.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 12/06/2021 20:01

Yeah same, I'm trying not to obsess over having a few moments of weakness. Just gonna keep going and carry on, the key is consistency I guess.

Guestdressquery · 12/06/2021 20:16

Like FunnyWonder I am trying to give myself the license to enjoy the odd bit of chocolate without feeling like I am back at square 1.

Today was not bad. 13k steps, 2l water (one black coffee).

B: 1 croissant, blueberries and strawberries
L: pasta with tomato sauce and a little cheese. 2 squares dark chocolate.
D: homemade bread, little butter, tomato and mozzarella salad. 2 squares dark chocolate.

I feel lighter in myself but inch tape is coming out on Monday - will I see a difference in my waist and hip measurements? I usually lose weight off my waist first... my hips are somewhat more resistant!

Eviebeans · 12/06/2021 20:22

I keep trying to bear in mind that the weight didn't all go on in a week and won't come off in a week -need to learn patience

unicornsandchocolate · 12/06/2021 20:42

Day #6 has been ok but not great. Over my calories but I didn't throw it away completely. It's very interesting tracking as I see how much I was eating!

cherrytree63 · 12/06/2021 21:09

Happy to say that my scales registered at 9'3 this morning, so a 4lb loss.
I'm still working at upping my water.
I was having a look at some old threads on here which reminded me that when I lost a lot of weight before I had been reading Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin. The two lessons that I learnt from there were; only eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. Very simple concept, but so hard to learn!
I've been feeling really crap today, didn't sleep well and terrible headache which is threatening to tip into a migraine. Said to OH that I was craving crap. Just went to get a drink and he's been to the shop and bought posh crisps and a huge bar of Galaxy (my downfall ).
Currently not tempted Grin
