Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Hi, I'll jump in too please. Lost a lot of weight in 2019 and gained a lot back in the later half of 2020 and 2021. Very annoyed with myself. I start a new role at work tomorrow so hoping I'll be too busy to reach for the snacks constantly. Lockdown with toddlers was too much for me!

poorpaws · 06/06/2021 22:46

Desperate people are very very welcome 😀

I'm in if you'll have me!
I lost 4 stone about 5 years ago following the bootcamp light on here.
Worked out, did c25k, was a trim 9 stone. Then life went tits up, and I lost motivation, got some chronic health problems which hinder exercise.
I've only gained about 10lbs, but I've lost my muscle and gained flab.
I went to put on a pair of shorts which were loose on me last year, and couldn't get them over my thunder thighs. I cried. I'm really cross with myself.
I'm aiming to lose a stone and find a gentle way of toning up.
Bring it on!

poorpaws · 06/06/2021 22:50

I’m sure we could all cry @cherrytree63 But we aren’t going to, we are going to knuckle down and get rid of this weight, all of us!

I'm in too. I'm posting on another weightloss thread but I'm reading most of what's on the weight loss forum. I recognise your username @poorpaws. I started last week on the 1st June. I'm calorie counting using Nutracheck. Don't have a massive amount to lose but I just need to stay on track for longer than a few days at a time!! I've put on my excess since having Covid six months ago and I just can't shift it!

Seesawmummadaw · 06/06/2021 22:53

Me please. I need to lose one stone. Who knew that one stone could be so hard to shift!
I’m low carbing, cutting out alcohol and might try c25k again (or just walk Grin).

MegBusset · 07/06/2021 07:22

Morning all, I'm in first then!

I'm 10st 2lb this morning. This is right at the top of a healthy BMI for me so the right time to do something about it.

Would like to get to 9st 7lb, realistically this will take a couple of months IF I can stick with it.

SW: 10st 2lb
CW: 10st 2lb
GW: 9st 7lb

FunnyWonder · 07/06/2021 07:59

Right, have weighed.

Current weight 11st 6lb
Goal weight 10st

I'm a pound or two lighter than I thought, but that may be due to horrible migraine yesterday, which meant I didn't eat much and also had accompanying, erm, bowel problems (sorry ...!) I haven't had a migraine in over 20 years and had forgotten just how much they affect my whole body.

Anyway, that's me! Just into the overweight category for my height.

FunnyWonder · 07/06/2021 08:01

@MegBusset
I want to be around the weight you are nowGrin

poorpaws · 07/06/2021 08:29

Good morning lovelies

I would have been first @MegBusset but I’ve been messing about with the myfitnesspal app. It won’t let me re-join.
Anyway, I weighed,

SW: 12st 2.3/4 (just under obese)
CW: 12st 2.3/4
GW: 9st anything 😀 or 10st at a push!

I had scrambled eggs for breakfast and off for a long dog walk at 10. This isn’t unusual for me but I want to get two walks in today so hopefully will do one this evening.

Our slogan: I’LL NEVER BE THIS BIG AGAIN.

Good luck to everyone and don’t give up. I’ll try to post daily and hope you’ll all join me.

Morning all! I don't have scales - I know my weight from the doctor's office at the weekend and know that I gained 4 kg over lockdown which I would like to lose.

More importantly for me, I would like to lose the inch on my hips and waist so I can properly fit into my beautiful, precisely-tailored clothes again. So this is what I will be going by.

Was tempted to eat my feelings this morning - horrid week at work ahead and I had to pop into the baker's for a loaf. But I resisted the pastries and am currently enjoying my overnight oats instead Smile with some raspberries and almonds.

Guestdressquery · 07/06/2021 08:33

And in terms of how I do it, I am going to cut down on refined sugar and ensure I reach at least 10k steps a day. This has worked in the past - hopefully it will work this time too!

poorpaws · 07/06/2021 08:36

@MegBusset I want to be your weight too.
@FunnyWonder, we will be one day soonish

Capricornandproud · 07/06/2021 08:36

Ooh can I join? OP i’m exactly the same as you. 12st 2 today and was always 9 something. Lockdown, illness, turning 40 and a busted knee has meant piling on a huge amount of weight and I despise how I feel and look. Day One for me!

poorpaws · 07/06/2021 08:37

@Guestdressquery you sound very positive and well done on the pastries, such a good start.

poorpaws · 07/06/2021 08:40

@Capricornandproud Welcome, will you be my diet buddy since we’re the same weight, hopefully we can lose a similar amount together, it might motivate us.

All going well on here, yayyy!

My weigh day is Wednesday. I've lost 8lbs since April. Another 25lbs to go 😩

Had a 40 min brisk walk this morning. I'm doing 16:8 and no carbs.

How's everyone feeling.

FunnyWonder · 07/06/2021 10:36

I'm just back from a 30 min crawl run. I started c25k in September last year and now stick with 30 mins three times a week. I am really very slow, but it's the first exercise I've ever properly enjoyed and I wish I'd done it years ago. The only problem is, I tend to eat more because a) I'm hungrier and b) I mistakenly think it's ok because of the exercise.

But ... no more! I have tried 5:2 in the past, with some success, but I do feel very grumpy and headachey on the fasting days and after the sudden visitation by a migraine after a 20 year gap yesterday, I don't want to go down that road right now. I would recommend it, though, from the point of view of something that actually works and might try it in a week or two if I remain migraine free. I think I'm going to just try to be sensible (ha!) and cut out the crap. If I stop eating crisps and cake and cut down on cheese (oh and dips, barmbrack, scones and fruit loafGrinGrin) I should notice a difference.

Sending positive vibes to everyone!

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 07/06/2021 12:33

Can I join too please?I was always one of the those annoying people who ate and drank whatever she wanted and stayed slim. All through my 20's and early 30's, right up until about a year or so ago.

I joined an 8 week culinary course (french cuisine) where I cooked and ate delicious calorific food every - it was bliss. But I gained about a stone in the process. Then a few weeks later we went into lockdown and ate and ate, because well it was the only fun thing left to do!!

Anyway, I just weighed myself and i'm 10 stone 11.8 lbs. A few years ago I was 9 and half stone. I'm 5 foot 6, and can still (kind of) fit into size 10 clothes, but everything feels a bit tight and uncomfortable.

It's my birthday in August, and I want to look fabulous and get back into being fit and healthy,

I'm aiming for 10 stone by then, so should be manageable. Long term I want to get back into the 9 and a half stone or thereabouts.

SW: 10st 11.8lbs
GW: 9st 7lbs

Notgoingtobefatformuchlonger · 07/06/2021 12:47

I'm desperate, I'm desperate!

I've started today. No more excuses or self pity. I will be strong and I will have some fucking self discipline.

I am not weighing myself though. I have done this in the past and became obsessed. It was worrying.

So I'm going by how I feel and how I look in the morror.

I probably have about 2 stone to lose.

I've been for an hour stomp at the woods today. I'll do this everyday plus some sort of yoga/stretch. And anything extra is a bonus.

Cut out sugary foods and overly processed crap.

BRING IT OOOOOOONNNN!!

Notgoingtobefatformuchlonger · 07/06/2021 12:49

Oh P. S! I'm probably around 11.6 stone and 5"4. But I won't be confirming that weight!! It's all in how I feel. It's the only way I can do it I think. I want to build some muscle too, which weighs more, which will mess with my "skinny brain".

copperpotsalot · 07/06/2021 13:17

Started fairly well today... tracking calories (aiming for 1400) a meeting I was going to walk to got cancelled so could use that as an excuse not to exercise today but I'm going to go out this evening when it's cooler for a brisk walk round the park

copperpotsalot · 07/06/2021 13:17

Forgot the weigh in first thing and sure as hell am not doing it now as I seem to gain 4-5pbs after my morning cuppa!

cherrytree63 · 07/06/2021 13:43

I was pleased to weigh in at 9.7 this morning, I've had a few days of no chocolate, no processed ready meals, egg salad for lunch and low carb dinner.
I tend to weigh myself most days, if I do weekly I could put on 2/3 lbs in the meantime without realising.
I tend to wear stretchy clothes, so it's only when I try to put on something non stretch that I realise I've gained size.
I'm 5'3 and 58.
I used to weigh 13 stone, worked on a busy ward and ate just in case I got hungry ffs. And it didn't stop me from being hungry at mealtimes either Blush
