Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Well done @fingersdoublecrossed for Gousto meal creativity Grin I like it that even the dog was able to partake! Your restraint was amazing.

Ach, bloody pound on! I put on 2, which I blame on all the wine extra salady things since DP is away. I just don't seem to have any self-control. It's worse for monitoring it. Probably, if I didn't attend to it so much, I wouldn't notice. It's been a tough week.

Everyone else is doing so well! I'd love to blame the perimenopause but a) I don't have any symptoms, and b) it's better explained by my being a greedy fecker. OOooofff

fingersdoublecrossed · 10/06/2021 19:38

OH is currently cooking tonight's Gousto meal. We're not going out but I CBA prepping high quality, nutritious food when the scales don't reflect my efforts! He can tell I'm in a pissed off mood! I'm drinking wine but I don't really care.
I've been binge watching diet shows on Prime! Love them!
Back to work on Monday so I won't have as much to time to be annoyed! 😂

FunnyWonder · 10/06/2021 20:07

Ate fairly healthily today. Only snack was a few nuts and raisins, which I put in a bowl so that I wouldn't eat the whole bag (not unknown!) I run-walked DS2 to school as we were a bit late! While we were puffing along, he asked me what the word 'brisk' meantGrin I did a short kettlebell workout from a video - not too taxing because I don't want to be so sore tomorrow that it puts me off going for a run. Well, that's my excuse anyway!

Hope everyone's still feeling motivated.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 10/06/2021 20:09

@Mulletsaremisunderstood that's what I've found just in the two days I've been doing it! Felt like a biscuit and thought I didn't want to waste the calories!

It's shown me where I've added calories to my diet without really noticing, so I always used to drink black coffee- 2 calories, have been drinking cappuccinos which have loads! Drinking calories seems so unnecessary!!'

poorpaws · 10/06/2021 20:59

I’ve been thinking (OH cringes when I say that 😀), would it motivate you all if we had a slimmer of the week every week? I think most of us weigh on Monday (?) so if you would like a bit of motivating competition this could be an idea. No prizes (a virtual medal) but would it make anyone put down that second glass of wine or drop the chocolate bar. Your thoughts?

poorpaws · 10/06/2021 21:02

Having said all that I’m not very competitive ☹️

Had a good day - drank more water, and cut down on the carbs - off to bed to read before I eat a ton of kettle chips

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 10/06/2021 21:41

@fingersdoublecrossed which diet programmes do you enjoy? I really liked How to Lose Weight Well with the lovely Dr Xand Grin

I'm planning to go for a run tomorrow too @FunnyWonder as I try to get back on plan with C25K - although it looks like it will be too hot for me to cover up in my usual baggy fleece. Oh dear.

I'll join the competition @poorpaws, it's AF week next week though with accompanying shedloads of chocolate so I don't think I'll stand much chance of being the first slimmer of the week...

fingersdoublecrossed · 10/06/2021 22:16

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl OMG - I'll watch anything!! Prime had got loads on:

  • Secret Eaters
  • Supersize Vs Superskinny
  • My Big Fat Diet Show
  • Supersize Me
FunnyWonder · 10/06/2021 22:36

@poorpaws Sadly, I'm not very competitive at all, but I do think I'd be less likely to eat all the Pringles if I thought there was a chance of a virtual medalGrin

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I'm past the stage of caring who sees my wobbly bits as I trundle along. I figure that even if they think I look ridiculous, they have forgotten about me a split second later!

Eviebeans · 11/06/2021 06:57

Hi everyone- jumped on the scales this morning I hadn't planned to and was disappointed to see that there was only one pound difference to when I weighed on Monday morning but have had reduced sugar muesli for breakfast this morning keep up the good work everyone

poorpaws · 11/06/2021 07:55

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you all have a good day.

Just checked my BMI and I'm no longer overweight 🥳
Only just. But officially not overweight.

How is everyone else doing?!

MegBusset · 11/06/2021 09:00

@zippityzip that's a great achievement :) well done!

FunnyWonder · 11/06/2021 09:05

@zippityzip That's absolutely brilliant!

zippityzip · 11/06/2021 09:40

Thanks guys!!!

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 11/06/2021 09:47

Hope everyone's having a good Friday. I did ok yesterday with food:

B: Porridge with walnuts & strawberries, vanilla latte
L: Poached egg with wholegrain toast
D: Tuna & Avocado on Wholegrain bread with tomato and cheese
Snacks: popcorn and 2 squares of dark chocolate.

Then about 8 o'clock in the evening I caved and had a Cornetto Blush.

I'm trying to stick to around 1600 calories a day, and going to do a workout today.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 11/06/2021 09:48

Well done Star
JohnSteinbeck · 11/06/2021 10:06

Morning! Well done Zippity!
I just re-weighed myself and I think my scales are dud. I'm about 1.5 st lighter when I weigh myself in my hall. My house must have magic properties LOL, I am staying only in the slimming rooms from now on Grin

I reckon I am still fat but just not as fat as I initially thought. Still need to lose weight though, cos none of my summer clothes fit.

Yesterday was disasterous again:

B: coffee
L/D: Celery, carrot, cucumber sticks with 3 different low-calorie dips
One small bag crisps with rest of dips
1 prawn & scallop fishcake

Also had half baguette from day before - ham, cheese & rocket.

Also also had 2 large glasses of white wine and a vodka & lime.

Urgh. I am so crap at this.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 11/06/2021 10:17

@JohnSteinbeck sorry if you've already said but do you log your calories? This seems to be the turning point for me as when I see it in black and white I then don't eat it!!

JohnSteinbeck · 11/06/2021 10:42

@WeWantAMackerelNotASprat I have done this in the past - you're right, I think this would motivate me further. I was hoping to use this week to regulate my eating first, but it has been really disordered. Having my partner away has made my days a bit unstructured and stress hasn't helped.

I think maybe on Monday - when partner is back - and we get back into meals routine, I will start calculating calories. Hopefully I will see the wine as the empty calories it is! He doesn't drink, so it helps me, too.

muddledmidget · 11/06/2021 12:11

Can I join you? I'm so sick of feeling fat and unhealthy. Was always around 10st4 so at the top of a healthy BMI, but put on a stone due to medication a couple of years ago, and now I've got a lock down stone as well, meaning I'm at 12st7 at 5'4, so only just sneaking below the obese category.
Have been on holiday this week, and whilst I've been walking loads along the cliffs and climbing some big hills, it all feels so much harder than it ever used to, and I can't really reach my feet properly to put my plantar fasciitis socks on, never mind cut my toe nails, due to the rolls of fat in the way!
I've set myself a couple of mini targets to get myself motivated, I'd like the first stone gone by 26th July, and another stone gone by 7th September. Really arbitrary dates but ones the first time I'll be seeing someone in a few months and would really like to have lost my lock down chin. Second is holiday that I probably won't be going on!
Final goal is 30th August next year, where I want to be in my prime due to booking an island hopping trip where I want photos I'm proud of, able to carry my pack, and smaller clothes will take up less room in my rucksack!
Plan is plenty of exercise, 10k steps a day, gym 3 times a week plus regular pilates, and cutting out the crisps, chocolate, chips and meal deals at work. Will weigh in on Monday and see the damage from my holiday

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 11/06/2021 15:45

If anyone is looking for some good workout videos, Johanna Soh has some on youtube. She does low impact cardio classes, like 30 minute step classes where the moves are easy, and there's no equipment needed - but they have me dripping in sweat by the end!
She does weightlifting classes as well, but I just pick the easier cardio ones Blush.

Also, Blogilates has loads of shorter videos on her channel, she usually focuses on specific areas each video. Again usually no equipment needed.

They're short enough to fit into a busy schedule, and aren't super complicated or hard core, which means I'm more likely to stick to them.

poorpaws · 11/06/2021 19:50

@zippityzip very well done to you, you are now officially the star of the thread, brilliant! 🌟

@muddledmidget welcome. We are the same height and not far off the same weight. Stick with us, we’ve only been going a few days but there are lovely people here.

I’m struggling a bit tonight for the first time. It’s so difficult when you’re craving chocolate (insert your addiction here) 😕

Today was long for lots of different reasons. So ate a few more sweet things than I should but still better than I was this time last week!

B: overnight oats, raspberries, pecans
L: small bowl pasta with tomato sauce and cheese. 2 Ferrero Rocher.
D: chicken broth, 1 slice sourdough with butter. 3 toffee sweets, 2 squares dark chocolate.

12k steps, 2l water and some black coffee/weak tea.
