Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

poorpaws · 06/06/2021 20:22

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Morning! May I join you? I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life - it kind of crept up on me but now I have to face it and take action. I’m currently 75 kilos and I’d like to be around 60. I’m doing a version of the fast 800. I walk the dog a couple of hours every day but I’m aiming to add in some gym time.

zippityzip · 08/06/2021 09:31

Another 40 min walk this morning and hopefully squeeze one in this afternoon.

Fasting this morning so living off black coffee and water but it's getting easier now it's week two.

Weigh day tomorrow I hope to god I've lost something to keep me motivated.

I am however wearing jeans that are not maternity clothes for the first time since March last year 😂 feel very self conscious but I went out in public and no one screamed.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 08/06/2021 09:56

Hope everyone is doing well.

Went for a 5k walk yesterday to meet a friend, but then we got distracted by the lovely weather and pubs open again and had a quick outdoor pint and some veggie samosas Blush. I did about 20 minutes of blogilates yesterday evening when I got home to try and balance it out.

I'm resolved to do one thing everyday that is good for me - either a long walk, an online yoga class, some cardio, just something!

I'm not going to weight myself everyday as I will get obsessive, so every Sunday night will be my weigh in.

zippityzip · 08/06/2021 09:56

SW - 168lbs
CW - 160lbs
GW - 135lbs

8lbs down - 25lbs to go!

fingersdoublecrossed · 08/06/2021 10:38

I'm down a pound from yesterday but still one up from Sunday.
Very hungry this morning.

Speakingofdinosaurs · 08/06/2021 18:08

I was doing well today, bowl of fruit late morning, then chicken with jacket potato & loads of broccoli for lunch/dinner & was planning not to eat anything else today.
Then a package arrived from my niece in Australia containing a big bar of chocolate with raspberry & liquorice - both my favourites!
I’ve eaten 2/3rds of it. 🥴

MrsMime · 08/06/2021 18:32

Feeling proud as I resisted the tray of cakes in the staff room today. Would usually eat one without really even thinking about it!

unicornsandchocolate · 08/06/2021 18:58

Day #2 almost done.
I've run 5k in the heat so happy with that. Although for me it's so much more about food and drink. Hoping to stay away from snacks this evening and continue to up my water intake this eve.
Tomorrow I've a day off work and those days are my worst for self-discipline. Any tips for not giving in to M&S chocolates when I pop there tomorrow mid-morning?!

Eviebeans · 08/06/2021 19:06

Getting towards the end of day 2 - has been okay meal wise during the day but need to resist snacking in front of TV this evening. Can't resist the percy pigs at M & S 🤦🏼‍♀️

Eviebeans · 08/06/2021 19:07

On a bad day it feels almost as if I inhale food without even tasting it.

fingersdoublecrossed · 08/06/2021 19:32

Messed up arrangements have caused me to totally miss lunch and I haven't started making our evening meal yet. Got a house full of kids after an impromptu water fight. I've done them all pizza and chips but I need to cook what I'd planned for myself, not graze on their leftovers and not resort to Just Eat!

Guestdressquery · 08/06/2021 20:07

@unicornsandchocolate I wish I had a magic tip for you on the chocolate! I have definitely found the thought of being accountable to you lot a motivating factor in my eating choices though... might that help? Smile

Not a bad day today. Only 9000 steps but managed to get through an all-day board meeting without resorting to chocolate so am counting that as a win!

B: overnight oats, watermelon and almonds
Snack: 10 grapes
Lunch: wholewheat toast, carrot sticks, some hummus. Graze lemon flap jacks.
Dinner: (DH cooking!) Wholewheat pasta salad with a bit of sausage. Strawberries and Onken 0% vanilla yoghurt.

Drank my 2l water today (I have a beautiful 2l Portmeirion jug which I set myself the task of getting through each day. It definitely helps!).

poorpaws · 08/06/2021 20:44

Everyone seems on track on Day 2, it’s all good.

My new skirt arrived today, a day earlier than it was supposed to. It is a size 16 with an elasticated waist and it fits! Even at my biggest I’ve always been a size 12 in a skirt because they are very forgiving but it seems I’ve hopped over size 14 and straight into size 16. It will forever be known as my fat bastard skirt (my daughter asked if that was in the description online 😀). I am hoping that within a few weeks it is far too big but in the meantime I’m wearing it because I haven’t got anything else.

I’m trying to do 15,000 steps a day instead of 10,000 and for the last two days I’ve just managed it so I’m happy about that. I’m going to have yet another early night to stop the evening cravings. I do have to have supper or I don’t sleep so it will most likely be something like crunchy nut cornflakes and skimmed milk.

See everyone tomorrow for a whole new Day 3. It seems to be going well for most of us and if we struggle we’ll help each other.

@poorpaws
Laughing at fat bastard skirtGrinGrin You'll be needing a skinny cow skirt before long!

I did ok today. Not a run day, but walked DS2 to school and back, which adds up to about an hour. And there was an impromptu run up the steep hill at the end of our road to retrieve DS1's iPad when we realised he'd forgotten to put it in his school bag. Two peanut MandM's might have leapt into my gob while I tested them for size in DS's bubblegum machine (don't ask!), but other than that I've been fairly disciplined.

orangejuicer · 08/06/2021 21:10

Good progress today, well done all.

I have hit a wall in trying to lose weight. At this point I'd be ecstatic to lose a pound. Any suggestions for a simple way to lose... anything?

cherrytree63 · 09/06/2021 06:19

@Speakingofdinosaurs
I'm impressed by your willpower, I'd have eaten the whole bar, chocolate really is my downfall.
I wasn't very good yesterday, had a banana for breakfast. Then went on a road trip with OH to get some materials for his work and we stopped at a pub. I had a coke and a sandwich, plus half a lager.
Got home had a slice of my homemade banana loaf, then a small bowl of cereal and then a huge plate of pasta.
I still had to resist the urge to snack in the evening.

cherrytree63 · 09/06/2021 06:21

@orangejuicer
Have a look round the bootcamp threads, very knowledgeable people on there, I lost 4 stone following the lighter maintenance, and initially lost it really quickly.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 09/06/2021 06:47

@Seesawmummadaw I am in the same position as you and need to lose a stone.

I never had an issue with weight, could eat anything and I stayed slim but I've now got a peri menopausal tummy and general podge. I'm still within BMI but hate how I look and feel.

I've decided to make a big effort at not eating crap during the week. I just want to eat sweet things when it gets to 930 at night. I didn't yesterday so one step at a time...

Auntycorruption · 09/06/2021 07:01

I'll join please. Need lose my lockdown stone!

I've been doing Noom for a couple of weeks which seems to be making sense to me actually.

zippityzip · 09/06/2021 07:03

My weigh day today

SW - 168lbs
CW - 159lbs
GW - 135lbs

So a loss of a pound this week. Which is a bit disheartening but I did have two bottles of wine, steak halloumi and chorizo over the weekend. Need to crack the weekend treats. But as I'm in Mat leave it's the only difference between midweek drudge and the weekend.

Lockdowndramaqueen · 09/06/2021 07:12

May I join, also largest I have ever been. Relate to @poorpaws as I have also skipped a size 😧.

Need to loose two stone and would like to join but probably not til end of the week for various reasons. You’ll see me here bright and early next week.

timetochangeitup · 09/06/2021 07:13

Hi

Great thread. I have put on about 1.5 stone in the last few months. I was over weight to begin with

So! Have been following ww for a week now. Have realised my portion sizes were way to big. Been eating a lot of snacks. Not being mindful at about what goes in the face

After week one, I have lost 3 lllbs

Onwards and downwards 😀

I will thanks!

JohnSteinbeck · 09/06/2021 08:01

Hello! Can I join? I tried to start on Monday. My partner is away this week and I've been eating too many portions like his. Fine if you're 6'3 but not if you are me.

HORRIFIED to see my weight at 11st 1. Never been this big, I've put on about 2.5 st and none of my clothes fit any more. I hate my body.

So tried to start but things been a bit shit. I have a problem with alcohol and need to stop drinking, so by shaming myself on here, maybe I can stop that, too

poorpaws · 09/06/2021 08:25

Morning everyone and welcome to all the newbies. Stick with this thread and we’ll all beat the bulge and help each other.

I’ve got quite a busy day planned. I am expecting a huge delivery of timber (garden project going on far too long and costing far too much), my fat bastard jeans should arrive too. I’m doing a long walk with the dogs and this afternoon I have a large amount of plants to put in the garden. That should be quite a bit of bending and stretching I think although not actually doing steps.

This evening I am doing the food shop and not sure exactly what to buy but there will be a lot of raspberries and strawberries on the list because I’m going to eat those in the evening instead of bars of chocolate and boy can I consume a lot of chocolate, that is my biggest downfall.

@JohnSteinbeck (of mice and men 😀) some years ago I used to drink quite a lot of alcohol (and eat a lot of chocolate too) and I started slimming and cut it out and I haven’t bothered with it since (can’t say the same about the chocolate). I’ll have a glass of wine at Christmas and very very occasionally a small glass of wine outside in the garden in summer and that’s it, so starting to cut down on food might help with the alcohol too.

Good luck with Day 3 everyone. Move more and eat less, it’s easy 😉 if only it was easy.
