Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Lamb chops and celeriac mash for dinner
Scrambled egg and a slice of ham for lunch

I'm going to fast between 6pm and 11am

Let's see how long I can keep this up! Already dreaming of bread 😱

fingersdoublecrossed · 07/06/2021 14:08

Hi everyone!
I've somehow managed to put on 2lbs overnight. I need to stay rational and not let it destroy my efforts.
I was out drinking on Saturday but my food was good. Yesterday I was practically virtuous. I don't understand it! 🤦‍♀️

poorpaws · 07/06/2021 14:15

Thank you everyone for posting, it all seems to be going well . @fingersdoublecrossed it will all sort itself out in time so don’t worry and definitely don’t give up.

I’ve just made my partner a ham and tomato sandwich and I swear I could have snatched it off him, it smelled so good.

I’ve done over 10,000 steps so pleased with that. Just a bit (not much) housework next I think to keep me moving.

We are all sounding positive, it’s very early days I know but I’m getting a good feeling about all of us doing well.

I've had a good day food-wise so far but I find it easy not to overeat at work as I'm too busy to think about it - the evenings are far more difficult. Luckily my partner is wanting to lose weight too so we can keep each other motivated :)
I need to change the habit of snacking in front of the tv.

unicornsandchocolate · 07/06/2021 19:17

Day #1 almost done. I'm not sure if I'll weigh myself or use scales and mfp as my way of tracking. I ate well today but didn't exercise. I'll go for a run tomorrow so don't mind not exercising. My challenge now is also not snacking once the children are in bed.

unicornsandchocolate · 07/06/2021 19:18

I mean use my clothes and mfp...

Guestdressquery · 07/06/2021 19:23

Ah, ham and tomato is my favourite sandwich... drools.

A good food day today:

B - overnight oats, raspberries and almonds
L - 2 small slices of toast, cucumber/tomato/olive salad, carrot sticks and low-fat hummus. A few spoonfuls of 0% Onken vanilla yoghurt.
D - feta/cucumber/feta salad. A bread roll. Some strawberries and 0% Onken vanilla yoghurt.

I think that I may need to keep myself accountable by telling you about my meals that day. I hope that's ok - this is my first diet thread so not sure of the etiquette Grin.

10,000 steps also done.

Eviebeans · 07/06/2021 19:55

Hi everyone I managed to lose 2 stones quite quickly during the first lockdown. Moved house at the end of March and after a few take aways too many now find that 7 pounds have crept back on. I'm short so 7 pounds back on really notices. Treated myself to some new stuff when I lost the weight and now I'm fed up with being back to dressing according to what feels comfortable rather than what I want to wear. Going to try intermittent fasting again as that worked last time 🤞

Elmo311 · 07/06/2021 20:11

Me! I'm getting married in august and I've got to lose 10kilos to get into my dress! Help. Do I just buy another one :(

Cheermonger · 07/06/2021 20:13

Day one for me too. Up to about 3 years ago I was trim and then menopause and lockdowns happened and now I’m 13.1. Could have cried this morning but today’s been ok, ate nice stuff, no snacking 10k steps and a PT session. This is the heaviest I’ve ever been and I need to sort myself out as I look and feel gross. Good day one everyone 🥳

poorpaws · 07/06/2021 22:26

Day 1 very nearly done and dusted. I’m going to bed now so that I don’t start snacking. Evenings are by far my most difficult times.

If you think you’ve done well today give yourself praise and if it’s not quite gone according to plan, start again tomorrow.

Well done to everyone for completing Day 1. See you all tomorrow.

Yesterday I had my boring egg salad again, and a (not at all diet friendly) co-OP pizza for tea. Fought the urge to snack after.
Today I'm aiming to drink more water. I've cut right backbone my tea and coffee consumption to help my bladder, but not increased my water intake by much so I need to tackle that.

cherrytree63 · 08/06/2021 06:47

^ back on, not backbone^ Smile

Eviebeans · 08/06/2021 07:07

Just had breakfast-poo sticks -better known as All Bran. Had cheese and ryvita for tea yesterday. Was desperate to have a kit kat watching TV last night but didn't. Having home made minestrone for lunch today-need to up water intake too. Also planning to go out for a walk before it gets too hot.

orangejuicer · 08/06/2021 07:13

Morning all! What's your day looking like?

copperpotsalot · 08/06/2021 07:34

Well yesterday started out so well... then my friend invited us round for an impromptu bbq. 2 bottles of wine and an unholy amount of meat later... I've woken up feeling grim.

Ach well, onwards and upwards

FunnyWonder · 08/06/2021 07:36

@Eviebeans Poo sticksGrin

I'm currently having my cup of tea, so strong you could do a clog dance on it. Breakfast will be porridge made with semi skimmed milk, grated apple and a few sultanas. Lunch might be lentil and carrot soup, but it's a warm day. DS2 asked me to make the soup. This is a significant development as it's very difficult to 'persuade' him to eat vegetables. So I'll make the soup for him while he's in the compliance zone! He takes very little lunch to school as he says his friends chew with their mouths open and, I quote, 'slobber everywhere' and it puts him off his food, so he has a proper lunch when he gets home. Really hope he grows out of this!

FunnyWonder · 08/06/2021 07:50

@copperpotsalot
Aw, it's hard when something like that happens. But we're all so desperate to be around other people after the last year, that eating and drinking with them while having a bit of craic is compulsory understandable. It's a new day. You'll be grand. And I hope you had fun!

poorpaws · 08/06/2021 07:52

Good morning everyone, sending you positive healthy eating vibes today.

@FunnyWonder I have to tell you that I never got out of being put off by people who eat inappropriately. I really struggle to eat with anyone and find any excuse to be busy while other people are eating. I feed my partner outside on nice days like this whilst I eat inside, it’s a nightmare. I will never understand why as soon as people pick up a knife and fork they start chatting, eat your bloody food for gods sake and keep the chatting for when you’ve finished. See I’m a nightmare.

@Eviebeans I will forever call bran Poohsticks now, brilliant 😀

Wishing you all a happy healthy day and I’ll check in later when all my 10 hollyhocks will hopefully be planted.

I sit on my bum at home all day for my work so not doing much exercise but I’m going to put an alarm on my phone to get up & move around, get on crosstrainer for a couple of minutes & drink lots of water.
Evening snacking is my downfall too - need a strategy for that.
I’ve got 2st to lose.

Thanks 😊 yeah it was lovely so I won't feel too bad!

Eviebeans · 08/06/2021 08:04

I work from home full-time and once I sit down for work if I move it takes me ages to settle to work again but like the idea of setting an alarm ⏰

Whoarethewho · 08/06/2021 08:07

I am a month in to my diet but put on 10kgs over lockdown

So height 1.93m
Start weight 10/05/21: 95.4kgs
Target weight: 82kgs
Today's weight: 92.4kgs

I have reduced carbs and increased veg. Plus cut out snacks and increased water intake.

ivfgottwins · 08/06/2021 08:10

Can I join your journey?!

I'm 38 and had twins 5 months ago! Weighed myself This morning and I'm 10 st 12 which when I'm only 5ft2 just isn't me 😢

Last year in lockdown I did couch25k and got down to 10st4 but this time I don't know if my scales are broken but they just won't budge (and actually gone up!)

I'd like to get down to 10 st but after 5 rounds on ivf in 18 months and then twins I feel like my entire body shape has changed!

ivfgottwins · 08/06/2021 08:16

My company use A particular health insurer which if you do 12500 steps a day they pay for an Apple Watch , free coffee, films and cinema tickets so I'm walking all these bloody steps and getting all these bonus rewards except the bloody weight loss! 🤣
