Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Size 14 jeans THEY FIT! But they are M&S so probably a very large 14. There were many photos taken with many outtakes to hide my enormous stomach.

Fantastic @poorpaws!

Not a good day for me today. I have been very busy so have grazed 😫

poorpaws · 09/09/2021 08:07

@professionalcockney grazing is a big problem for all of us when we are trying to lose weight (especially me). Write the day off and start again today.

I graze when I haven't had much to do and have had far too much time to think about food and on supermarket shop days when I do the “oh I’ll just try a little of that and that .... ooh I haven’t tried this before ...” and a large proportion of the weekly shop has been “tried” without even realising how much I’ve consumed.

Well this week was a bit of a shitshow, my period was horrendous so lots of emotional eating and snacking. Also a hectic week, with a bullshit training day, and a friends birthday yesterday so take away and drinks last night Blush.

I'm doing what I can to stay on the wagon, but I think even just maintaining is a challenge at the moment, let alone more weight loss.

poorpaws well done on the jeans, they look lovely - and I love your sandals, they're gorgeous!

Hope everyone is doing better than me this week. I hope I can somewhat salvage it at the weekend before the next weigh in. At this point I'll be happy with a maintain.

Also, I may have to namechange soon, I think I'm going to lose access to this email address, so will have to come up with something snazzy!

poorpaws · 09/09/2021 21:13

@Mulletsaremisunderstood. I am most definitely in your gang as far as trying to cling on by my fingertips to the wagon. I’m hoping for a stay the same weight on Monday but fear a gain. I just can’t stop putting bloody food into my mouth, it’s constant and before I’ve finished chewing the last item I’m wondering what’s next 🥴 so bloody greedy 😳
As for the sandals my first thought after I’d posted was how dirty they were (I’d just come in from the bin and it was raining). Anyway they were from what is commonly known as the old lady shoe shop in this house (Hotter) and were in the sale as blue didn’t sell too well. I’ve got the ugliest feet ever, partly because I always wore a size too small shoe when I was young so have bunions, (my mum did warn me), also wearing stupidly high heels and also when I was very ill for a long period I lived in slippers so my feet spread and are now very wide. Due to all this I have to buy all my shoes/sandals/trainers/slippers from the old lady shoe shop.
As for your new name, what about “I’mgoingtobeslim” 😀 well you will be before me!

How are you all doing? I hope we’ve got some members who are winning at this weight loss game. I am most definitely losing this week (sadly the game not the weight).

quick check in
still not really on it, diet wise
DC2 is away, so I'm cooking for four but there's only three of us, and there have been no leftovers! this Monday is my new leaf, I promise.

poorpaws · 09/09/2021 21:53

@TheTurn0fTheScrew I’ll join you and your new leaf on Monday, I have to do something.

professionalcockney · 09/09/2021 22:05

Evening check in. Great day today. Motivation is high due to seeing how terrible I look in the mirror 😂

@everyone - good luck for climbing back on to the wagon 🛺 (couldn't find a wagon emoji!).

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 09/09/2021 23:25

Back from a work trip and hoping to join @TheTurn0fTheScrew on the diet wagon from Monday again, once I've done a big shop and sorted out my exercise routine!! It's been tough getting back in the swing of things with the school run and I didn't get chance to do any exercise whilst I was away. Plus the DC have squabbled hideously since I returned and I'm so tempted to retreat to the peace of my hotel again...

poorpaws · 10/09/2021 15:23

Here is the wagon, it’s been fully refurbished, it’s in good working order and ready for us all to jump on on Monday. I’m driving it around to all of you to pick you up so be ready on Monday morning, no excuses 🥴

Love it @poorpaws!! 😂😂

professionalcockney · 10/09/2021 21:16

Haha I'm liking the wagon!

Evening check in - over eaten today. Not massively but not my usual 3 low cal meals. It's always harder on a Friday!

poorpaws · 11/09/2021 07:58

It’s Saturday morning so I’m going to try harder over the weekend to get a loss on Monday as I’m so near to getting the first stone out of the way. I thought if I wrote it here I might actually do it.

It’s a beautiful morning here, perfect for a long walk in the sunshine.

I hope everyone is doing well and we see some losses on Monday.

CreepingDeath · 11/09/2021 11:22

Hey, its Mullets here with my new username, low fat brownie points for anyone who also loves this song!

Yay for the wagon poorpaws, but it does remind me of Wagon Wheels Blush, yum! I hear you about weird feet, I've always had large feet and found it difficult to get pretty shoes. My best friend has dainty size 4 feet and tiny hands, so jealous, I sometimes feel like Gigantor next to her.

Anyway, feel a bit better today, I managed a workout yesterday but I think I overdid it (even though it was half assed) because I hadn't worked out in a while, and now my back is sore. So I'll just go for a long walk today and hope it feels better tomorrow.

Unfortunately, diet is still a bit all over the place, so need to keep on top of it and try not to scoff a whole large bag of Maltesers, like yesterday! Anyway roll on Monday, back on the wagon!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 11/09/2021 12:19

loving the wagon! Am ready to board.
I shall gloss over the last couple of days' food. I have been for a half hour slow jog round the park this morning though, so feeling a tiny bit virtuous.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 11/09/2021 22:10

I need to do some serious planning tomorrow. Not to mention a shedload of washing, cleaning and tidying. What fun my life is Hmm

I feel like I've made it half way to my weight loss goal, but really need to push now to get to the end - I don't want to stick here forever. Plus, exercise did make me feel much better in myself, I'd like to feel like that again!

In other news DP is back in the running for 'laziest man in the world' award as he parks his arse on the sofa at any given opportunity, then moans that he doesn't have time to sort out his work stuff/ clean his car/ do anything that doesn't involve watching TV or having a snooze...

poorpaws · 12/09/2021 08:15

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl at least you are half way through your weight loss which is brilliant, don’t underestimate your hard work so far. I’m still fighting to get the first stone off and have been so near for ages, it’s so frustrating! But then there’s another stone to go plus a few more pounds after that. I can’t seem to get into exercise either. Last year I did an exercise dvd about 4/5 times a week and I think about it every evening but never actually do it. I agree though you feel good when it’s done.

Could we swap DPs for just one week? Mine is making a lawn at the moment. Every day he’s digging, getting stones out, treading, raking, digging again, I could scream! Just sit bloody down for goodness sake.

poorpaws · 12/09/2021 21:03

Good luck for the weigh in tomorrow everyone.

I’ve done better today so I’m hoping for a loss. I’m going to bed early (with my iPad for mumsnet) before I ruin the good days work.
🤞🏻For everyone.

OP posts:
CreepingDeath · 12/09/2021 21:08

Clara I know what you mean about having to push through, and make it past the plateau. I keep thinking I have lost a good amount and feel better, I know if I make the effort it will happen - so why am I sabotaging? grrr.

Exercise seems to be the only thing I'm doing well, but my food is not great so it means I won't be able to lose. Anyway, I'm loving the old style wagon, ready to jump back on tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for the weigh in!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 12/09/2021 22:28

Hard isn't it @CreepingDeath... my weight loss mojo seems to have vanished with the school holidays Confused and I just can't find the time to start exercising again now I've started my new job! Today seemed to vanish in a haze of food shopping, tidying up and putting away washing, not much planning was done...

Slimming World sent me a special offer to rejoin, I haven't actually been there for about 4 years as I didn't find the group particularly useful, the leader was (a) unhelpful and (b) quite a large lady herself! Would it be wrong to rejoin just to get their snazzy journal though?! Grin

(I will probably do a cheap diary/ Excel version for myself, but it is rather lovely!)

How was your day @poorpaws? You are welcome to DP for a while, just make sure you have a large space on the sofa and don't mind listening to him moan if you ask him to move/ watch something you like on TV/ actually help with anything...

poorpaws · 13/09/2021 07:52

Good morning everyone
🤞🏻 For you all

SW: 12st 2.3/4
CW: 11st 2.1/2
Mini Goal: 11st
GW: 9st anything or 10st exactly
Loss this week: 1.1/2 lbs

Fanfare ... I’ve lost my first stone so relieved for it to be gone and so,so pleased (and I NEVER want to see it back).

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I had a good day yesterday thank you, always mindful of Monday morning weigh in. I've said before evenings are my big problem time and I was really struggling earlier on in the week, so last night I walked the dogs in the evening for quite a long time, face timed my long distance friend and went to bed early, it worked I ate nothing 😇

I’m just going to start the wagon up .....

I also meant to say thank you all so much, I would ever have got this far without this thread and your support, I’m very grateful to all of you.

Bjarnum · 13/09/2021 08:13

Well done Paws! I'm afraid the wagon hit a bump and I fell off.Whilst I was screaming some villain force fed me a bucket of KFC, 2 cocktails and several chocolates. So it is nothing short of a miracle that I have lost 1/2 lb.
SW 14.13
CW 12.12
TW 10.00
Maybe that exercise thing may actually work. Then again the scales may need new batteries ... Just clambering back on now. Good luck everyone for the coming week and see you all next Monday

poorpaws · 13/09/2021 08:42

@Bjarnum very well done on the half pound. Every single loss counts and I’m always still happy with a small loss. At least you’ve managed to get back on the wagon so next week could see a bigger loss. 🤞🏻

OP posts:
MegBusset · 13/09/2021 09:28

Morning all, well done losers and especially to @poorpaws for your first stone 🙌 and for keeping everyone on the wagon!

So... it seems I have reached my goal weight 😊

SW: 10st 2lb
CW: 8st 13lb
GW: 9st

This is the first time I've been below 9st since 2012, before I went back to an office job (I was a SAHM for six years before that and kept slim by running around after toddlers all day and not having time to eat!)

I feel so much better in myself, clothes fit better, more energy. Sadly it's mostly down to giving up drinking so that is a habit I'll have to stick to as I don't want to pile it back on.

I'll stick around the thread if that's OK, it's good motivation and will help me to maintain which is always more of a challenge for me than losing.
