Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Morning all - you guys have done so well, yay! It must be that beautiful wagon we are all piling into. I managed to lose a pound this week. - so pleased. Definitely back on the wagon. It took me over a month to lose so I'm delighted!

Congratulations poorpaws, one stone down, that's amazing! I know what you mean about not wanting to go back there, I look at my starting weight and don't want to go back.
Well done Bjarnum, and Meg congratulations on reaching your goal Flowers - what you said I feel so much better in myself, clothes fit better, more energy. Apart from a few off days, this is how I feel also.

SW: 151.8 lbs
CW: 142.4 lbs
GW: 135 lbs

I'm starting to think that anything under 140 lbs would do me ok, I feel good in myself and if I could maintain that I would be happy. Will still need this thread to keep me going.

And still a few pounds to go, but to be honest the 135 lb goal was because I weighed that about 3 or 4 years ago, but that weight might not suit me anymore. Plus I have definitely built muscle, so I guess we'll see.

Bjarnum -Gold stars all round! Lovely to hear of your losses and milestones.

I have not lost, but not gained, so it's not a total disaster. But I am boarding that chichi little wagon as of now. 5k run (very slow) this morning, which I think might be my first full 5k since the hysterectomy/foot injury double whammy. I too have some new size 14 jeans - M&S size 14, and old Joe Bloggs extra wide style at that, but a 14 nonetheless!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 13/09/2021 22:28

Well done on your first stone @poorpaws!!

And well done on your 5K @TheTurn0fTheScrew! I must get back to running, am actually sort of missing it. I know what you mean about the clothes incentive, I desperately need new underwear Blush have been waiting till I lost a few more pounds/ inches to buy the next size down, but think I may have a knickers emergency before then...

Reasonably good day here, not eaten too badly, 17K steps plus a short weights workout. The wagon seems to have done the trick poorpaws Grin

professionalcockney · 13/09/2021 22:33

Congratulations to everyone on your results this week and to @poorpaws for first stone down!

I've been MIA - busy weekend. I wasn't as strict but ate mindfully and went for a quick 45 walk on Saturday while little one was at their club instead of just sitting in the car.

I lost 3 pounds!

I've had a good day today too (helped massively by a 2 hour nap 😂)

Stats are

SW - 12st 1
CW - 11st 12
GW - 10st

poorpaws · 14/09/2021 09:11

Blimey aren’t we doing well atm, keep it up as the wagon rolls.

@MegBusset 🎖🌟🥳
Brilliant!! So, so well done! I can hardly imagine how good you feel and how amazing you’ll look. Don’t leave us though as maintaining is so difficult. (I lost weight in 2012 at WW and found it very difficult to maintain, even though I actually went way under my target weight. I haven’t been anywhere near that weight since 😳).

@CreepingDeath yay to another pound off, you have done so well. We can all alter our end goal at any time. My friend told me last night she thinks I’d look awful in any 9st bracket and would look much better in the 10s so I’m wondering about changing my goal. Anyway you’re about there now so 🎖🌟🥳 for you too. Do stay here though, I/we still need your support.

@TheTurn0fTheScrew well done on the size 14 jeans, it feels amazing to go down a size (even if they are M&S size 14). I ordered two more pairs the same as I got the other week as I still have so little to wear but I’m wondering now if I should have waited to get to size 12, mmm maybe that’s wishful thinking.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl oops on knicker emergency. I’ve recently thrown out 19 pairs! I’d got my wash basket by the sink and accidentally (I’m so clumsy) spilt a whole bottle of bleach on the washing. Luckily because I change size so often (and don’t throw old ones away as soon as I should🥴) I’ve still got loads (all in different sizes).

@professionalcockney. Great going for the walk, so much better than just sitting waiting and 3lbs down is fantastic. You are doing so well.

👏 to us all this week, we’ve all got something to celebrate. We won’t need our new wagon soon. Anyone fancy a ride around the lakes, it’s very pretty.

In other news, I had another neighbour bring me (homemade) 2 chocolate cupcakes, 2 coconut ones and 2 fruit scones yesterday. Not my amazing chef neighbour but a different one who I’ve lived near to for 20 years and she’s never done it before, bewildering! My DP thinks she’s heard that chef neighbour brings me food so she decided to as well.

I’ve got a difficult week food-wise, we’re out all day tomorrow which will include at least one meal, possibly two plus ice cream and it’s a family members birthday on Wednesday which will include cake (my weakness) and possibly another day out on Friday. I can feel the extra pounds already.

Keep up the very good work everyone 🌟 for you all.

Wow poorpaws I need neighbours like yours - mine just have yappy dogs!

What your friend said about 9st probably rings true with me also, I used to be under 9st for most of my 20's but I think I would look really scrawny at that weight now that I'm late 30's.

Even at my slimmest I always carried weight on my thighs as I'm a classic pear shape. But I have noticed that for the first time ever, I have definition in my legs and thighs, because I'm building muscle. Which is mad because I weigh more than I did back then, but I guess my body composition has changed.

Well done on maintaining Turn, that was me for weeks and weeks, at least you're not gaining ,and you're keeping active which will help.

And 3lbs professional that's amazing. Good week for everyone then Grin.

CreepingDeath · 14/09/2021 11:09

Also, I'll definitely be staying with this thread for a while yet. Can't believe it has made it to nearly 900 messages!
My schedule is going to change a bit in the next few weeks, so I'll be out of the house more, and with winter coming I'm gonna have to keep an eye on my food. Since giving up meat a year or so ago, I have struggled to get enough protein and binged on carbs, which I partly why I gained in the first place.
Anyway, I think having the weekly weigh in will be good to keep in check and help maintain, especially in the run up to Christmas.

Getting ahead of myself though, I haven't even reached my mini goal Blush.

But it feels far more achievable than it did at the beginning of the summer, so big thank you to poorpaws Flowers Star for starting this thread and keeping it going, it really does help stay on track.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 14/09/2021 22:57

@poorpaws I can't decide if I want your neighbours or not... all that delicious food!! But then I would feel obliged to eat it Grin I definitely want an underwear collection like yours though, I actually struggled to find five decent pairs of pants to take away with me for my work trip Blush

Do you eat quorn or anything similar @CreepingDeath, that can be useful as a source of protein? But yes, it's easy to eat (for example) more pasta to fill yourself up! or more toast and Nutella if you are me

professionalcockney · 15/09/2021 10:56

Oops forgot to update last night.

I broke my no takeaway in September rule! My husband has been away on business and he wanted a takeaway curry when he got back last night. I had a plate of lamb chops with salad. Scales are still ok this morning, phew!

Low carb and food day today to make up for it.

professionalcockney · 15/09/2021 19:49

Very strange day for me today. I was really busy and picked a lot. Felt hungry. Didn't sit and eat mindfully.

Decided to go for a walk again while DC was at their class then came home and had something off plan but satisfying.

Drawing a line under today and using it as reminder to plan meals, sit down and enjoy them! Which leads to feeling full and satisfied.

I hope you all did better than me!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 15/09/2021 23:59

I did pick a bit @professionalcockney but only because I was too busy to eat a decent size meal (honest!) - the DC's after school clubs were cancelled at short notice so that was my prep time gone!!

I'm also aching today after Shredding yesterday Grin

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/09/2021 00:00

Oh and yes, I need to make time for planning as well... and food shopping - maybe at the weekend! Hope everyone has had a good day Smile

CreepingDeath · 16/09/2021 15:20

Thanks Clara unfortunately, I don't like stuff that's pretending to be meat, it freaks me out. Anyway, I love eggs and eat fish and cheese and have a few lentil type recipes to keep me going. I'm just being lazy reaching for the delicious carbs! Well done on the Shredding, I did that a few years ago and it was brilliant but Jillian is a bit terrifying Grin.

Managed a late night workout last night, although it wasn't great it was better than nothing. I have an online yoga class starting tonight which I'm looking forward to, always helps me sleep.

Hope everyone is doing well this week.

professionalcockney · 16/09/2021 22:29

I managed to turn it around today. A good food day and a 7.5km walk.

I have a planned lunch out on Saturday so must be good until then!

poorpaws · 17/09/2021 16:43

It wasn’t my fault! It is OH’s birthday next week so I made an extremely calorific Galaxy Cheesecake. Hope everyone is doing well, but sadly I’m not.

Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

That cake looks delicious!!

poorpaws · 17/09/2021 16:45

@professionalcockney. Blimey that was quick 😀

CreepingDeath · 18/09/2021 09:28

Oh my god it looks amazing, feel free to post me some Grin. Cheesecake is always a winner.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, I’m gonna try and get out for a walk today as it’s sunny.

professionalcockney · 18/09/2021 20:37

I need to confess: I have been busy and not stuck to it for the past 24 hours. Line drawn and a healthy day planned tomorrow. I will also exercise. I hope I can scrape a 1lb loss on Monday.

I have some plans coming up over the coming months involving seeing people I haven't seen for a while. I really don't want them to see how much weight I have gained 😢

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 18/09/2021 21:12

that cake looks super.
I've been baking today as well - brownies, and a blackberry and almond tart for visitors tomorrow. there has been sampling I'm afraid - wouldn't want to poison my guests. Haven't made it out for a run today, as DC2 has had activities all day. Will try to get out in the morning.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 18/09/2021 21:16

@poorpaws feel free to send me cake any time Grin

I am weighing in on Monday @professionalcockney with a certain amount of trepidation and I have a new journal for my Christmas weight loss countdown!! Oh how I love a journal Smile I'm going to a christening in a couple of weeks' time and still have nothing to wear, I was hoping to fit into one of my 'smaller' outfits by now, but sadly not. Having weeks off over the summer holidays was not part of the plan...

Lovely sunny day here @CreepingDeath, hope you enjoyed your walk! Rain predicted tomorrow so I'm going to get some early Christmas shopping out of the way!

professionalcockney · 18/09/2021 22:26

Enjoy your new journal Clara. I brought a cheap diary, you've reminded me! Now I must remember to fill it in every day. ☺️

poorpaws · 18/09/2021 22:40

I am so grumpy at the moment, I can’t seem to get away from calorie filled food. OHs birthday next Tuesday and he wants a lime and lemon drizzle cake, to go to the moors next week which always includes food, as well as fish and chips on his actual birthday. How the hell am I supposed to get by this week without gaining half a stone! Oh I’m grumpy! And to add insult to injury he said he couldn’t manage all of the cheesecake so could I eat half 😡

I hope everyone else is having a really good week. I am absolutely dreading the Monday weigh in (And if DP had any more than one birthday a year I’d bloody leave him).

OP posts:
poorpaws · 18/09/2021 22:44

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl
Ooh and I LOVE a journal too, which one did you get?

OP posts:
CreepingDeath · 19/09/2021 12:44

Clara I also love journals and making lists, even just mundane ones - makes me feel very organised. When I was younger my favourite part of school was when we got new stationary at the start of the school year.

poorpaws your husband gets two cakes for his birthday? I hope he knows how lucky he is!

Well yesterday went to crap. I went for a walk in the morning, but then went to visit a friend of mine whose daughter had a birthday party that morning, and ended up eating lots of the leftover party food - two chocolate doughnuts, two packets of crisps, lots of biscuits!! Couldn't stop myself, so much for will power!

I think we're all hoping for a miracle on Monday Blush.
